Hello XDA
I have the Note4 N910F, it start to random reboot tow month's ago
i decided to look why is that happen i noticed it reboot when its get hot
i installed the Device Control app it show the CPU temperature 84C° TO 86C° with out doing anything in the device so i decided to UC The max CPU frequency from 2649MHz to 1958MHz the temperature now never across the 75C° and its never reboot anymore
but when i reboot the device it go through the boot process and reboot when the home screen appears i have to cool it with cold air to boot normaly so i can UC the cpu again
why is that happening and is there away to UC the CPU permanently?
by the way its the same on stock firmware and the same on other roms
Thanks XDA

Hello!
I'm afraid that I can't really tell you why this is happening. I strongly think of a hardware issue.
But I think I know a way how to prevent your phone from overheating while booting. You mentioned the Device Control app on your post, so let's start with my first suggestion:
Is there an option in the app like "apply settings on boot" or anything like that? If yes, try to enable this option and reboot your device to proof if it worked.
If Device Control does not support this feature, I recommend you Kernel Adiutor. I used it for over one year and also used the "apply settings on boot" option that worked like a charm for me. It's basically the same application, just with another design, another name and so on, but practically it does the same.

Hello
Thank you for respond
The Device Control doesn't have Apply On Boot so I used the Kernel Adiutor You recommend
It do have Apply On Boot and i switched it on but It didn't make a different because it apply the setting after the boot process complete not before or during the boot process
you mentioned a great app thank you for that, the thermal option is useful it turn of cores if the CPU Temperature Get higher than a temperature i chose which i set to 50C°
i will learn to live with the (Cooling during booting) what really bothering me is the rebooting when i am on the middle of a call or working or playing on the phone
now it's solved with Kernel Adiutor
here is a picture of the CPU and GPU temperature before changing frequency and setting the thermal control
seconds after booting
______
and this after make changes
Thank you

You're welcome!
At least I was able to help regarding the phone's random reboots due its heat development while using it.
I something comes to my mind that could help with preventing the phone from overheating while booting, I'll let you know.
But for now, I'm happy you can use your phone under normal conditions again. Have a nice day!

Hi,
I'm very happy with my universal (wifi and vga in pocketsize) only one thing is driving me crazy.
every, say once in 10 times the universal won't start when I press the power button. (after it turning off automatically after a few minutes when on battery power). Worse yet, it doesn't accept phonecalls and smses anymore either..so it already crashed silently. Unfortunately you can't see this from the outside since the lights still flash. I only notice it crashed when trying to start the device.
I've updated to wm6 because I thought it was a wm5 issue, but it wouldn't help. I also updated to radio 1.13 (the orange radio stack as found on this site). But this too, didn't fix it.
does anybody else have the same problem?? This problem renders my whole device unuseful. =^(
thanks!

Welcome to the club...looks like no solution on this one yet. Here is a link

Some say it might be incompatibility with the SD card, but not in my case.
Hi,
that doesn't sound too good.
Anyhow, I'll experiment with it some more (what else can one do?) to see what is making it crash more or less (wifi/sdcard/simcard/battery?)
I'll post my findings... maybe we can find some mutual thing which might be causing it
I doubt it is software related since my whole machine is wiped clean and has nothing on it
R
yes, me too...and it seems to get worst as time goes by...anyways, I suggest that if you have any warranty left to send it back for warranty. GOodluck!
thats a pretty good point... ;^)
I'll check.
too bad it's quite vague description:
yes, sometimes it doesn't powerup..
you can already see the technicians there... they try it 4 times, it works everytime (of course) , and they send it back with a sticker saying 'correct'
ah well.... lets not get ahead of time.

hi, i didn´t experienced that problem, but when i start up my device, sometimes, the start-up is really slow and the screen gets white but finally, i mena 2 or 3 seconds´ time it becomes normal.
Is that what experienced?

What do u mean with PM?
DId u get the solution?
See ya folks
Solution
Check you PM means check ur private messages
A fellow here with the same problems sent his device for repair and the problem was voltage control unit of mainboard
Solution:
1. Install Pocket Hack Master and go to settings and disable the CPU scaling of the device. Then set it to start at startup. Then clock your device at 312 mhz before turning off the device or closing the clamshell. You can always clock it to 520 while using cpu intensive applications. Just make sure to set it at 312 before turning it off.
thank you buddy
Jumanji1212
Did it also work for you? I forgot to add that I am also using an external charger specifically for Universal because Im afraid charging it via miniusb might mess up the voltage control unit more.
Well, i normally charge it with the ac/dc adaptor but not always. Since i deleted spb diary today plug-in and installed the latest qtek spanish rom and radio, the time of the white-screen shorten.

Hello, I have the same problem (Power button does not start after an auto sleep).
My qtek 9000 however gives a blank screen when playing with the PHM speed tests. (When it is plugged in it works.)
Now I am a little afraid to do the "set it to start at startup"
Is there no risk it will never startup anymore?
Can I do this (temporaly) just for testing without the auto startup option?
So: disable CPU scaling and set the speed on 312 and put it in sleep mode.
I need my Qtek so badly that I get horribly stressed with this kind of things.

Aside from being able to Wirelessly Tether my 3G connection from my Vibrant, I wanted to also control my CPU speeds. But with SET CPU, I tend to come across a particular problem. I would underclock to 100000 (min&max) with the screen off, but as a result, the screen won't turn back on and I would have to take the battery off and restart my phone. Clocking it to 400000 (both min and max) screen off leads to the same problem. Is anyone else going through the same situation? If not, what are you setting your CPU to, in regards to both screen on and off?
I have it set to 400MHz max/100MHz min for screen off, and it wakes up just fine so far.
What is your Governor setting? I was told to put it in "Conservative" for Vibrant.

Yeah I have all my profiles set to conservative. Do you guys think it has to do with the priorities, cause I have all of them set to 100.
It could, since there is no telling how to prioritize the settings, hardware/software might get confused.
you know I just noticed I got the same issue, sort of.
I have multiple profiles setup, and one is for charging via USB 800max/100min.
If the screen is off (400max/100min), and I connect the USB cable, guess what happens, three finger salute gets it back, hmmm.
OK I got it working for those who are having the same problem as I. All I did was I made my screen off frequency 200max/100min. For both charging and battery use, I have my cpu set at 1000max/800 min. It works flawlessly and I am noticing an increaSe in battery life...

OverClock?
I used SET CPU on my G1 and really loved the new life it gave my old hardware. I would like to open it up and see what my Sammy Vibe can really do. Is there a way to get some real OVER clocking?
Battery life is really not an issue for me so far.

we need a kernel that will enable it. its apparently not possible on the stock kernel...
I have been having the exact same freezing issue when the screen times out, I'm unable to revive the phone without pulling the battery. I have tried many different setting in Setcpu including those posted here. I finally just uninstalled it and everythings right again. Best to avoid this app for now.
Hey man i did that and i still did not work any other way to set it up.
Vibrant wont come out of Blank Screen
I used Set CPU and put it to the max 1000 and then the max on the other readings it forced closed and after the tmobile and Galaxy animations it goes to a blank screen.
Yeah, I uninstalled it after a week because it was just too unstable. I was getting freezes several times a day, which is unacceptable. Other people might have better luck, but my phone did not like it at all.
So far the only way I can get the program to work 100% is to not have any screen off profile. If I just set it to 1200 max - 200 min / conservative it works fine. Yet once I use profiles and screen off at 100, 200 or 400 it won't turn back on. Every morning it's the same thing, battery pull.
I have similar problem. As long as I am not using "Profiles" at all it is fine. Playing with profiles setting for a while, but not being able to make them 100% stable.
Another thing, if your screen does not come on, you don't have to pull the battery out. Just keep holding on/off button for 5-7 seconds, it'll reboot. It's not a complete freeze, I believe only display system (whatever it is) fails.
Stuck at Recovery Mode
Guyz,
I have firetrap sugar on Spice Mi300. Installed Set CPU.
Tried entering the recovery mode, the phone gets stuck at 1st screen with a line "Enter recovery Mode" displayed on top.
Please help.
Im having some issues with my vibrant and since today, everytime I lock the screen, then i try to unlock it, it stays black and nothing comes up or anything i just can seem to unlock it without holding the power button which causes the vibrant to restart. is anyone having this problem? Any solution to it other than formating maybe? Its rooted and I have a lag fix on it.
I'm assuming you've rebooted?
no i didnt. i didnt try to do that because i didnt want to lose everything. i was hoping its some app and i tried uninstalling some apps but still got the same problem. It keeps happing to me everytime since earlier today. you think that would work?

I thought the same thing.
Ok. Something must be in the air. Exact same thing happening to me today.
Each time the screen times out the phone becomes unresponsive. Blank screen, soft keys don't light up. If I hold the power button too long it just reboots.

Set CPU
Ya know what, as soon as I posted the details on my phones configuration it dawned on me that it could be a setcpu problem... Looking into it.
Set CPU was my problem. When I looked at the min/max they were both set at 19 out something ridiculously low like that. NO MORE SET ON BOOT!
I bought SetCPU but have not installed it on the Galaxy... I really don't see the point right now unless you want to underclock, and yes, it has been reported (perhaps fixed now?) that set on boot could cause issues.
I would just uninstall till we have a kernel we can OC.
OP, what would you lose by rebooting? Yes... I do believe that would work (and uninstalling SetCPU if you have it or change the aforementioned)
Set CPU profiles cause the phone to reboot and or freeze. See this thread forum.xda-developerscom/showthread.php?p=7808723#post 7808723
lagginess
Just to clear the setcpu is useless without a proper kernel i had it everything bogged down badly like reported went down to 19 from 10000. I would just take off the setcpu and wait for a kernel my phone def sped up after but thats my own experience.
SO this is weird what im about to tell u is trick and a BUG so how is that possible here is how ::
When i open a game on my hd2 especially a hard on the graphics one like lets say { into the dead or beach buggy ]
u see when ever i start these gaames they freeze so how do i make them start and unfreeze the system .
JUST PUSH THE POWER BUTTON FOR SEC just like ur turrning the screen off not force shutdown the device or any thing
and click it again it will open the lock screen so open that and u will find the game working and actually very playable .
Its weird and the only workaround for it is by installing chainfire 3d but the problem is that most roms aren't compatible with it and if u install it on any ROM and reboot it may not boot again unless u reflash that ROM ...
So devs any easy fixes for this bug ""?>:":?>
Interesting solution, thanks for the info. One thing I have to point out though is that people will have to be careful doing this if they underclock their CPU when the screen is off as they may need to battery pull and restart. I tried listening to music with a 128MHz underclock on my HD2 once and the screen just wouldn't turn back on.
Does underclocking increase battery uptime? Cause as far as I know, the Voltage on 460-128MHz does not differ (atleast as for my kernel (example)). Therefore it won't change the draining of the batter - am I right?
If there is any difference, its very miniscule. I think leaving the CPU profiles as they are is probably the best solution.
Sent from my Nexus 4
Hi everyone,
Thanks for reading this . As specified above, my phone has a rather serious problem of overheating. To try and reslove the issue I tried modifying the CPU frequency, to set it low enough. And a very bizarre thing just happend.
Opening Kernel Adiutor, I saw that 4 out of my 8 cores (the 2.5 ones) were running normally. No overclock, stock settings, stock governor and so on. The issue seems to be in the other 4 (the 2.3 ones). Both the minimum and highest frequency allowed is set up to the same parameter (1556 mHz), forcing it to stay at maximum clock all the time. I tried modyfing via Kernel Adiutor the settings, lowering the minimum frequency allowed to stock one (which should be around 300 or something), but it had no effects: it immediatly comes back to 1556 and just won't come down.
All of this started happening after i removed Franco Kernel from my system, flashing another ROM (Chroma) with a different kernel altogether. I'm currently on Cataclysm ROM and after doing a clean install, formatting internal storage as well as every other partition, i couldn't resolve the issue. Moreover, Kernel Adiutor sometimes won't even show my CPU settings, stuck on an infinite loading. If anyone could help me, it would be much appreciated. It's really important. I'm by no means Android expert but i do have a rather basic understanding of ADB and so on.
Thanks a lot for your time.

I used to own a n7 and that allowed me to set min and max freq. with apps fine but i am also seeing this on my 6p, i don't notice any "overheating" although it may be due to me being used to it always running hot since i run a lot of heavier programs and also you know... SD810 but i guess it does the frequency thing as a way that frequency is actually controlled on this platform or something, because it sticks fine to the limits you set while flashing a kernel but no app can get it to stick. Then again this is just me sharing my experience with it as it is my first phone with this platform, so maybe someone who knows more about this could offer some help.
