Does anyone know what methods the HD2, TG01 and s200 switch band modes? I like to use GSM only mode for phone calls and background data transfers like My Phone syncing and e-mail for better battery consumption, but using the engineering menu to switch bands is a bit of a pain.
Also, I find that my IQ never switches to GSM mode (G or E) when using the Automatic band setting. Does the eXpo exhibit the same behaviour? I'm wondering if Telus did something to prevent it from trying to switch to GSM mode automatically since they only have a 3G network.
My LQ have it. I want to switch only GSM band but can not. Select phone setting, have not band switch, only select network auto or manual. I try to install any software for manager GPRS, 3G, Band switch but software does not work or work but not effective.
I am very disappointed with the LG phone. Because selecting the Band is very importance for PDA.
If you are still using a stock ROM, then you will need to install the attached CAB. It adds the option to switch between 2G, 3G and Auto. You can find the setting under \Settings\Personal\Phone.
I have just installed this software, It work perfectly. I do not understand why LG have not been install this software from the original room?
From there, my LG battery save about 20 per cent more.

agreed. Also I am running one of darks roms, (not the current one) and it does not have the band switching option. do you know if I will save some battery even though I have a 2g only carrier (usa tmobile).
It's hard to say if it will make a difference. In 2G mode it won't even try to connect in 3G which it might be doing now.
This control panel applet was extracted from the GW825V ROM. I imagine if LG was to release a newer firmware for the eXpo, it would have it as well.

For saving battery when you switched 2G Band, you should reduce Backlight, normaly using ALC in Backlight setting.
So I came across this thread and figured since I'm on T-mobile as well it would probably save me some battery power since I consistently see a notification on my phone telling me it's trying to connect to 3G. Anyways, after I installed the cab it seamed to have jumbled up a lot of the text in LG settings (I use it because it's easier to navigate than the WM settings). The functions in the settings still work the same as they should, but the text prompting you as to what they do is completely different. For example instead of the text 'settings' it says 'use as' and instead of 'date and time' it says 'password prompt if device ....' and instead of 'security' it says 'please turn on bluetooth' and so on. This only seems to happen in the LG settings and not the WM settings. Any ideas how to get this program to work without the issues I listed?
Unfortunately, LG likes to make life difficult for us.
In order for this to work, I had to include LGString.dll and LGString.dll.0409.mui from the GW825V. The MUI doesn't match up with the version of LG Settings on your phone.
If you want I can put together a version without replacing those two files. I believe it should work except you wouldn't have any text on the Band Settings tab.

That would be great actually. I don't need to be able to see the text as long as you tell me what each one is. Plus I'd only be using it the one time to turn on 2G only. Thanks.
Just to clarify, you are using a LG eXpo on the T-Mobile USA network?
The CAB I posted adds the option to manually set the bands between auto, GSM and UMTS(3G). The option is found under \Settings\Personal\Phone. Does this work on your phone? Making a new cab without the extra files will correct the issues with LG Settings but it will not make the feature work if it doesn't already.

Sorry, I thought I replied to this last week. I must have forgotten hit submit. Anyways, yes I am using the LG expo on T-Mobile USA network. Also while using the CAB you posted the features did work just that the LG settings were having issues like I was talking about. Thanks.
Actually, if you don't intend to switch back and forth, you can just go into the engineering menu and switch it to GSM mode there.
Dial : 3845#*820#
Modem setting\Band Setting\Select GSM
This way you don't need to worry about installing anything.
The control panel option is nice if you like to have the option to switch back and forth without going into the engineering menu.

I've just bought a second hand omnia 7, i put my sim card in and went straight on facebook so i assumed it was fine.. i then realised i couldnt make calls or send texts, and none of my calls went through. i tried it on a different sim and had the same problem.. HELP
I also have this problem any help? I cant make/send calls or texts but can get on G and browse the internet, could this be a problem with the setting on the phone? APN's maby? done 2 factory resets and recieved a text from windows phone saying welcome but thats all it will do....
I have the same problem, after some time. Messaging and calls stop working...
Has anyone come up with a fix for this?
I have full signal on an unlocked Omnia 7 but it is a simple case of not being able to make any calls or texts (or receive them for that matter).
Maybe they tamperd in Diagnostic Tools. I messed aroun and had a hard time restoring the radio settings. Look for diagnostic codes here you find a toon if codes to use. Hit this in your dial pad and you install and start the diagnostic tools.
##634#
You need to find the codes (cant remember em im afraid) that gives access to gsm/3G section.
Just had to look =P
- Hit *#32489# and you get to Cyphering. Mine is on
- Hit back once and you can press [5] RRC (HSPA). Mine is set to REL6
- If you back to the side where we could find the above [5]RRC option, you have below a Dual Mode setting. Mine says "Not ACT"
- When you type in *#32489# you can press back 2 times. There you can select option [7] Network settings. In there you can look if stuff is in automatic modes. Like...
[2] Band selection, mine is in automatic.
Well, there you have it. Something to compare to a working device. A hard reset won't put these values to default so you will have to look for your self. Now be carfull in there, you can do more damage if you dont acctully read what the pages says. If you understand what im saying, there should be no problems. Check out your settings and compare to mine. Se any diff just set it like i given advice on. Hope this helps..
Cheers for the advice but it hasn't helped as I have the same settings as you, another thing to add whenever I do try to make a call it comes up "00:00 Call Ended". I hope that may help someone in diagnosing the problem.
Have you tried downloading the Samsung Network Profile tool from Marketplace and then changing the Active profile to your SIM card?
Hvae you tried putting an unbranded ROM on? (even an old one as Zune will update with the unbranded ROM!!)
Same problem tried different ROMS but still have "Emergency Only".
The SIM is OK.
anybody found a fix for this problem ? im also suffering but the phone will receive texts and voice-mail on the orange network, it was on orange before i got it unlocked.
thanks hope there is help out there

i had this problem when i updated to us99610f. it used to be on with verizon, and when i updated, it set to off and it was grayed out. what i did was cleared cache, rebooted a million times, but my friend work sfor verizon and he toggled it on and off on my account, so idk what did it, but now it works.
I am gray can not open
how to open this function;
I just got Verizon Advanced Calling enabled on my rooted US99610f. I saw on other posts that one has to toggle AC off/on in your VZW services settings online. I tried doing it from my PC but the VZW support page was unable to find any means of toggling the AC feature. I called Vz support and spent the better part of an hour with the tech trying to get this figured out. He was forced to call LG and we had a 3-way conversation that eventually solved the problem. The Vz tech had tried to enable AC on my phone from his side and it didn't take. It turned out that the problem was that it can't be done with the phone on wifi - it has to be an LTE connection. My phone is always on wifi at home. Once we figured that out, he was able to enable AC from his console and I didn't even have to turn it on in phone settings as it was already turned on when I checked it. Not sure if enabling AC on the US996 can be done without calling Vz tech but you can save a lot of time by turning off wifi before you call.

The Adv. Calling panel is grayed out when you get a US996. You can't change the setting until your carrier enables that capability on your account. To have that done you must contact your carrier to request it and you must not be on WiFi when they enable it. You can turn WiFi back on after you get Adv. Calling enabled.

I have a US996 (US99610f) on AT&T and I have advanced calling enabled through my carrier, but this option does not present itself in my menu at all, greyed out or not. Do you have a screenshot of the menu? I am attempting to work with LG, but they say only the T-Mobile and Verizon variants carry this option.
Sorry, no screenshot possible. The phone is absolutely unusable now and boots only into fastboot. Tried to send it to LG for repair and never have dealt with such a crowd of idiots. I am the pissed off owner of a $800 paper weight.

I have been using my non-rooted US996 (unlocked version) on Verizon since I bought it last June. Shortly after getting it, per the very helpful instructions in this thread, I called Verizon and successfully had them turn on advanced calling.
I accepted the November 6, 2017 US99610n OTA update earlier this month
Yesterday I noticed that I could not access the internet while making a call, checked and sure enough, advanced calling was again turned off and greyed out. After a total of over two hours of phone time with five different Verizon techs, the fourth one being a level 2 tech, the issue has not been resolved. My guess is that this is due to the US99610n security update. The level 2 tech's final suggestion was that I take the LG V20 to a Best Buy store and have them "flash the software". He also opened up a ticket about the problem. I had the wifi turned off while we were trying out various solutions on the phone. I have not been to Best Buy yet.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem with advanced calling on their US996 after the US99610n security update?
Any solutions?

Today I took my phone into a Verizon store. A rep replaced the SIM card and Advanced Calling is now successfully turned on.
I'm posting here because reading this thread helped me to solve my issue. I have a US996 on Verizon's network, and when I recently updated to the latest firmware, I had lost "Advanced Calling" (aka HD Voice, aka VoLTE). It was grayed out on the user-accessible Settings menu. I couldn't use data and voice at the same time, and it was terrible.
The way I fixed it wasn't anything fancy like flipping some obscure switch in a hidden menu... or any black hat activity like using a build.prop editor or forcing it on via an "Activity" of Settings that's only accessible via command line... Nor was it anything that "only a dev could do" like making a kernel change. I tried all of those things.
All I had to do was jumpstart my provisioning by logging into my Verizon account, disable Advanced Calling, wait an hour (your time may vary), and then enabling it again. When I disabled it... I got some funky SMS message from Verizon with a bunch of garbled text... and I got something similar when I enabled it again. Shortly after I got the text from Verizon after re-enabling it... I went into settings, and Advanced Calling was turned on!
I promptly made a phone call, and the 4G icon didn't disappear from my status bar. While talking on the phone, I ran a speed test, and it was able to get a ping and test my down/up speeds. VoLTE had been restored... and it was glorious.
If anyone has an issue in the future like this... please remember this post and give the same thing a shot.
Best of luck!

That's terrible. Report sellers that do that.
But You can't do what your wanting to do. You can't put that phone on Verizon, it doesn't work that way. Unlocked means it will work on AT&T, T-Mobile or any other GSM carrier in the USA or outside the USA.
2. I don't think there is root for the sprint model.
3. You can't flash other carrier firmwares. You can ONLY use the firmware that's on the device. If you flash a different carriers firmware you'll brick your device..

Verizon doesn't officially support non Verizon devices meaning non LTE data may not work or work correctly.
It working on Verizon doesn't mean it's unlocked. Unlocking a phone relates to GSM not CDMA. Also if you use that apk your phone will work perfectly fine on AT&T or T-Mobile. Just like the Sprint G5 does.

So this thread looked hopeful but I've installed the apk from the OP link and this is what I get when I open the app -

This thread of for specifically making a US carrier device be network unlocked. This that most likely won't be of any use to your model.
That's a very strange issue. Settings with your APN won't make your hotspot shut off. You can turn on hotspot even if data is not working.
Seems more like a software issue or hardware issue.

I don't see the IOT (CDG2) menu when i open the hidden menu on my H918. Does this apply to T-Mob?
Hello,
Hoping someone may be able to help me
So this morning I lost the ability to make voice calls and use mobile data on my LG V20 (H990DS variant - totally stock). In the top right-hand corner where it shows the mobile network strength I have an empty box with an X in the top corner. Everything else on the phone is working hunky dory. Strange as the phone is stock and this didn't happen after an update, etc. Obviously it could be a hardware failure but I'd like to rule out it being a software problem as I really quite like the phone!
The phone knows a SIM card is installed as it knows the IMEI, APN settings etc. However it just won't connect to a network. I've checked the settings and the service state is set to "radio off" and the mobile network state is "disconnected" which makes sense given I can't get onto a mobile network.
Question is how do I turn the radio back on? I've tried what I think is the obvious stuff:
1) Removed the battery, left off for a couple of mins and rebooted (hoping it will then rescan and find the network) - no change
2) Factory reset - no change
Given I have the H990DS variant do I have an options? I say that as I thought this variant wasn't particular friendly in terms of flashing, ROMS, etc.
I'm a n00b but can follow instructions so if anyone has ANY advice I'd appreciate it!
Thanks muchly in advance.

Sounds like a hardware failure
Sent from my LG-H910 using XDA Labs
It could indeed be a hardware failure but I find it odd that it can read the SIM (knows the IMEI, APN settings, the number, etc) and I seem to recall when I first got the phone I had to jump through some hurdles to get the SIM to work.
Is there no way to toggle the radio on/off? I've tried *#*#4636 ... but it won't give me access to the phone information section to reset the radio here ...
did you find a fix?
