In person,say live,how would u call them,same, u11 close,or...?
Thanks a lot. Very interesting to see.
I would say in low-light, which to me says most about a sensor's capability, they are virtually even. A really tiny bit more detail/texture on the Pixel 2 if you look at some of the letters on those signs:
- the "th" in threshold (in the middle next to the 40 sign)
- Trinity Industrial Estate (to the right of the church)
- the yellow sign that obviously says "Store" on the far right below "we make hoses"
I am wondering how much of the final quality is due to the camera software algorithms. Since you use`d the modded Gcam on the U11, they should be pretty equal, right?
Right now, I am looking for a new phone with a better camera than my Nexus 5X, which I didn't expect to be that hard to find since the 5X is almost 3 years old. The Pixel 2 to my surprise didn't make much difference in daylight (the 1.55 µm sized sensor pixels just make up for the smaller f/2.0 aperture). And I returned it instead of excessively testing it in low-light for other reasons.

very much same if you are using google camera and even stock camera is comparable to pixel 2 ....Pixel 2 have slight advantage only if you extra zoom photos( will see more details in pixel 2) but not much differnce if you look at photos without zooming
I think U11 is underarted phone while there is too much marketing hype about pixel 2 camera . I prefer screen of U11, extra external storage of u11, Prefer sound of U11( more fuller/deep sound ) , prefer battery of U11( gave me 7 to 8 hours screen on time on 4G mostly surfing web on chrome, youtube, whatsapp and skype, facebooke tc while pixel 2 is giving maximum between 4-5 hours on same usage and brightness) and best of all it was cheaper than pixel 2 with all these advanatges
camera and waterproofing is very much same . Pixel 2 is just more compact and light and small screen are easy to use with one hand but then bigger screen has its advanatge when you surf web or watch media on big screen
I am ctually thinking to return pixel 2 and keeping U11

Camera is very important for me so i have used many phones in the past to find the phone which offer best photography experince and good overall as well. I have used nexus 5X, Pixel XL, S7 edge. S9 slightly for few days and now have u11 and pixel 2 etc. I am thinking which one to keep for personal use and to be honest pixel 2 did not impress me much . Camera perfomaces have not change much since last 2/3 generation ( from nexus 5x/6p to Pixel 2 or from galaxy s7 to s9). there are some tweaks here and there but nothing much significant to justify doube or triple price . Nexus 5x/6p still take excellent pictures ..they struggle in taking pictures of moving objects like ( taking ohotos of moving cars, kids etc) then pic come out blurry sometime and thastwhere pixel 2 or galaxy amera have some edge over nexus 6p/5X and there is also some imrovemnet in capturing video
Now to answer your second question i have taken the pictures of same day and night scene from U11 stock camera, U11 google camera and Pixel 2 camera with HDR on and leave it for you to judge
Pixel 2
HTC U11 Stock camera
HTC U11 Google camera

Pixel 2 ( night scene after sunset)
U11 Stock Camera

Thanks alot rmc69 and looper_98!
I've bought Pixel 2 on March and after used a couple of days, I decided to sold it out. The U11 cam is under-rated while the Pixel2 cam is on the opposite side.
The WB is always more accurate on U11 and Pixel2 got yellow warm feel or say over saturated colour tone like Samsung style but I think Samsung does better. In reality, Pixel2 loves to increase shutter speed though it real reduced the handshake but photo/video easy to turn out darker.
To be fair, Pixel2 got some advantages like the 3rd parties camera chip which I found useful when the app get supported and will let you shoot auto HDR+ but since most of us will only run stock htc cam or gcam modded, this feature isn't demand but still good to have it. Another goodies is 4K EIS+OIS and I think this is the only thing I love Pixel 2 but again, the reviews or comments of this staff on net is over-rated though it smoothed out the shaking nice but when you walking fast it won't be useful at all(I know many claimed it is working even running provided with proved videos but I just can't reproduce the result on my own).
I have a HTC U11+, and I find that even compared to Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-UltraMinimalSettings-Tolyan009-v1.apk, I get the best results using GoogleCamera-Pixel3Mod-Arnova8G2-V1.apk
Colour balancing seems to be the most accurate so far (the others I've tested seem to come out a bit too yellowish), HDR+ Enhanced seems to be much faster (especially since I set mine to Exposure *4), but one of the drawbacks seems to be that the output images are visibly darker.
Stock U11+ Camera
Google Camera HDR+
Google Camera HDR+ Enhanced
You can get some really good results in low light with this APK+Camera Combo.
I'm keen to know which GoogleCamera will get me closest to the quality of a Pixel 2 haha

Cannot say how much camera of u11 plus is different to U11 but Pixel 2 quality is not much different to HTC U11 when using googel camera if you check comparison in previous photos . It improve low light photgraphy significantly . I have actually returned my pixel 2 because i think HTC U11 is better overall in others aspect

I don't use the front facing camera. Do a search and you should find some info comparing the HTC U11 to the Pixel 2's front camera.
I have got pixel 2 XL( original camera with night sight) and U11 (Pixel 3 camera port with night sight) and wanted to see how "Night sight" work in boht phones in dark scene

Once used Google Pixel XL. Then used Samsung Galaxy S9+, Oneplus 7T now using Galaxy S20+ honestly speaking no other phone can match the pixel XL's camera performance . Attaching a photo taken with pixel xl.
Looks more like an Alcatel Phone camera.

Agreed...google's image processing just can't be beat. Very much considering picking up a pixel as a secondary device just for taking photos .
TBH that is a pretty horrible quality photo

It's actually useless without a comparision to the same scene taken with the S20+.
But sure Pixels profit hugely from the Google camera app and its software processing. But as soon as use third-party apps you can see how dated the camera hardware/sensor is. Heck, the Pixel 5 still has practically the same old tiny sensor as the Pixel 2 ( Sony IMX362 vs. IMX363). Do some video recording in bad light conditions with a Pixel and the S20 and you will see the difference in sensor quality (in favor of the S20 of course).
I know my one plus 7 pro did so much better at processing than Samsung. The s20 isn't too bad but still most Def better on the market

When it comes to camera hardware/sensors there is not too much better stuff than the S20 series. The Ultra is even a little better. And the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has by far the best camera hardware. But most phones just compensate for it with software (especially Pixels with their tiny sensors). If you used the exact same camera app (like some GCam port) on all those phones you would get a more objective comparison. Of course, most people just want a phone with stock software and no root or any deeper changes to the system. So overall camera performance can be compared on the DXOMark page for example.
And even if the S20 has the better sensor, the Pixel's Google software is just much better at processing giving it an overall better ranking.
I compared videos shot with the same app on several devices (Quick Video Recorder which can record with the screen off) and thus settled for the S20+. It was the only phone with better camera hardware than my 4 years old HTC U11. Both Pixel 4 and Xiaomi Note 10 Lite performed worse in regard to detail, lighting and noise.
If you just want a phone to go and shoot pictures with then yeah, get a Pixel.

I like the s20. It does do very well. I use a lot of the features. I do a lot in manual mode too. And previous models just didn't seem to handle as well as this. But I still like the op7pro for certain situations it does amazing

Was contemplating buying a 8t but from what pictures I've seen taken with it seems very poor quality especially low light wasn't impressed by the 8s camera when first came out and seeing as it's basically the same dated sensor and not improved much I'm on the fence when there are better camera phones around for same price or less like pixel 4a wish oneplus would ditch the stupid other lenses that are practically useless and stick to 1/2 decent performing lenses like on the pixel and iphones think are skip the 8T especially @ £549/£649 there's definitely better out there in the camera department they should of improved camera not keep it the same but then they shoot them selves in the foot as the can't do that as it will then be better than the 8 pro, again not best camera also, ditch the stupid extra lenses and silly T models in between and make a decent 2 lense true flag ship oneplus

Hello
My existing phone has been damaged and I need one to use for a few months.
I am interested in the pixel 4 because it has a telephoto sensor.
I wanted to know with a gcam mod such as bsg, can I match the quality from the pixel 5, I am guessing hdr enhanced works, and can the pixel 3 also match the pixel 5 albeit with longer processing?
Thanks
I have pixel 3 and pixel 4, both have pretty much the same image quality (noise, sharpness), I would say its 5% easier to get more detail out the pixel 3 cuz his aperture is smaller (1.8) but in response to you.. yes you can get better pictures compared to pixel 5 image quality (better than stock pixel 5 thats for sure) but you have to really dig in the libpatcher settings
