HI
for starters please excuse me for my English (i use g.t.)
sow i have today a good surprise with my S7 dual-sim (G930FD) with latest nougat firmware
- SIM 1 (DigiMobile Romania) to be in 3g/2g mode and using 3g band (2100 MHz)
- SIM 2 (Vodafone Romania) to be in LTE/3g/2g mode and using LTE band (800 or 1800 MHz)
How to:
1. set 4G on the sim you want, then turn off that sim.
2. then for the other sim set it to 3G/2G
3. then turn on the sim that you turned off
4. if done right you will see SIM1 LTE/3G/2G, SIM2 3G/2G. or SIM1 3G/2G , SIM2 LTE/3G/2G
Seems also work here in Germany with TMobile and O2. Thx for this hint.
welcome
thanks seems to work for me as well
Had some problems with sim 2 (data sim) on lte and sim 1 on 3G (H). Incoming calls on sim 1 are going directly to the mailbox. Sim 2 is working properly.
If both cards are on 3G all is working fine.
Can someone check!?
Hi
OP5 suport (like OP3T) to be 1 sim on 4G (data) and second sim on 3G (voice) ???
post screenshot with sim configuration
thanks
I can only set the data sim to 2G/3G/4G but the second one is only 2G/3G (only need 2G but can not set it).

my second sim carrier only support 3G (voice and data - band 2100) and 4G (only data)
and from what you tell me it can work
on other dual-sim phones second sim can be only 2G
Where you from? 3G is quadband, so it will work, just maybe not in the USA.

Only one SIM can be set as the active Data SIM at any one time. The other SIM can still work over UMTS ("3G"), so the OP3/3T/5 are not affected by AT&T's 2G Sunset. You can still get the calls/text over UMTS.

If I understand you correctly, the data SIM is software selectable. This would allow me to switch between the SIM cards based on 4g availability.
PS Other posters seem to indicate that only the SIM in the first position can be used to access 4g.

Yes. On the 3/3T there was even a toggle in the notification/status bar to switch the Data SIM immediately without needing to head to Settings.
Could someone please confirm with a screenshot showing that the second SIM on the OP5 supports 3G while the first SIM is using 4G or 3G?
Hi all,
First time playing with dual SIM ad think Im missing something easy here.
I use GiffGaff (£5/m) and barely ever use data. Saw an offer from Voxi (Vodafone) for a 6GB data SIM. Grabbed one thinking I could use it as a second SIM just for data so I have a constant connection and a SIM I can move between devices where needed (MiFI, tablet etc, why I went with a second SIM rather than a different plan on my primary GiffGaff SIM)
Put the Voxi SIM in my Redmi, setup the APN and was greeted by the 4G symbol with the cross in the lower corner (no network connection but calls and texts work)
Now this is where Im getting confused. From what I can gather, only one SIM can be 4G while the other SIM will drop to 2G.
How do I go about setting this up correctly?
I do not need 4G speeds on the Voxi SIM as I only really need a constant connection, just enough to ping a few emails and Whataspp/Telegrams around.
Both GiffGaff and Voxi/Voda support 2G and would prefer the 4G to stay with GiffGaff for call quality.
So, I have:
GG in slot 1 (4G)
Voxi in slot 2.
APN set for Voxi.
Voxi set for Mobile Data
How do I now tell the Voxi SIM to connect over 2G and not 4G?
If I switch mobile data to the GiffGaff SIM, the 4G symbol from the Voxi symbol disappears so it must have switched to 2G but then GG is on data (with 4G sysmbol). When I switch back to Voxi GiffGaff goes to the no 4G but Voxi has the 4G with cross.
Is anyone here using dual SIMS like this in the UK?
Settings -> Network & Internet -> Mobile network -> Advanced -> Preferred network type
Did you try that?
Just tried every setting, in-between each one I toggled the mobile data switch and tried a ping and a Chrome page refresh

Some things to note, I dont know if these are bugs in the ROM/AOSP or normal:
SIM Cards:
SIM Slot 1 shows "giffgaff - myphonenumber" and when clicked shows 'Operator - giffgaff' & 'Number - myphonenumber'
SIM Slot 2 shows "Voxi" - blank" (I edited the name to say Voxi manually) and when clicked shows 'Operator - unknown' & 'Number - unknown'
Mobile Network:
Enhanced 4G LTE Mode - This toggles the settings for both the GiffGaff and Voxi SIM regardless of within which SIM I set it
(Just found a reference to it here but no reply so dont know if this normal?)
This applies to the actual network in these settings as well. GiffGaff shows: Network - O2-UK, flicking across to the Voxi side it also shows O2-UK even if I untick 'Automatically select network' and search manually, choose Vodafone UK (Successfully registers on network) but doesn't change to 'vodafone uk'. The main sub heading under 'Settings - Mobile Network' shows O2-UK as well the status bar carrier info has always shown both giffgaff and vodafone uk no matter what.
These change if I completely disable SIM1 though, then it shows vodafone. I presume this is all because SIM1 is 'Priority' though. Doesnt help when troubleshooting
Also I realized I forgot to mention the ROM is ResRemix, not stock (oversight on my part, haven't used a stock ROM on a device for years, forgot they exist )
I have also tried the SIM in my old Nexus 4 and it worked with no issue so I am assuming it is definitely a device issue rather then a SIM/Carrier one.
Im going to try another ROM over the weekend, probably Lineage, If I get chance to try and get a baseline to see if this is ROM related though (although the ROM thread, people are saying dual SIM is working, mainly the JiO network(?))
Its also harder to troubleshoot when Ive never used Dual SIM before and have no idea how thongs should look and feel etc
I have downgraded from stock pie to 8.1, lost LTE and IMEI, however restored them. After that my sim2 slot is getting only 2g , no 4g or 3g. Does any one have solution for this.
I can't explain why you can't get 3g on sim2 but you I don't think you will get 4g without pie.
Pie gave 4g on both sims, if you downgraded you will only get 2g or 3g on the second sim.
I‘ve got a rooted OP6T and until now I only used SIM1 slot where I could change to the 4G only network mode via *#*#4636#*#*. Now I also use a 2nd SIM. But I have the issue that the phone constantly switches between Edge and 4G in areas with bad cell reception (we use LTE900 and LTE800 with the exact same coverage as Edge so the switching back is just useless).
If I switch the SIMs and force LTE I can use it with no issues, but in SIM2 Slot the fallback to Edge is just so annoying because it just could use fast LTE at this place...
Is there any way to change this behavior or force 4G on both SIMs simultaneously?
