You should read this for example https://www.howtogeek.com/138500/th...g-incompatible-android-apps-from-google-play/
Maybe you have a location problem. It's not general about the hardware.

Are you sure Play store account is for the NX7 and not another Android device? I am using the same account for NXS and NX7 without any trouble. Just a thought.

I've had this numerous times on my HTC One S but not yet on the Nexus, the last time I was suffering on my HTC I discovered that if I "forgot" my Wifi network and re-registered it sorted it out, it hasn't happened again since then so I can't guarantee it as a fix but worth a try.
Go to settings in the app drawer, scroll down to "Apps" and when the windows load choose the tab that says all. Find Google play store and force stop it, clear the apps cache and data and reboot the device. Then run a Google sync and try the play store again and let me know if you get that error message or a different error message or if it works.

This worked perfectly for me on my GS3, thanks man! My problem was caused by restoring back to an ICS Rom from a JB one. Google Play seemed to think my device was still on JB for some reason and kept throwing me JB updates that were in fact invalid for my ICS device. I did everything else suggested and this was the only fix that worked, no more invalid updates.
If there's anyone that didn't work for, try installing it from the google play webpage on a computer. That's what sorted it out for me.
It's a known issue which is caused by a play store update.
Just keep trying and it will work, but Google will fix this soon.

no, it´s not, i´m still getting this error, tried every possible solution, even fully wiping, and nothing seems to work.
The same problems since 4.3
I am having the same problem invalid package file since I updated my Nexus 4 to JB 4.3.
I had tried every single tip I had found but useless. Some apps update well others dont.
Usualy the small ones are updated and the big one arent. I have being thinking ifthe problem is linked to the download manager. I have poor conexion and no so fast, and I have noticed the download progress bar behaving erratic up and down...
Any help or idea?

You might want to remove all your Google accounts from phone and add them again.
Happens to me couple of times and works again fine as soon as I add Google account again.

My wife's phone...
Anyone know why she should be getting this message for the likes of Google chrome, drive, play books, search, etc, etc... clearly, it can't be true!
I have her bootloader unlocked, rooted, running xposed with a couple of modules, and a tweaked kernel (ziddey's USB-OTG tweak).
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't get any of these apps to update!

Possibly need to update Google services , that said I have never came across or seen anyone come across this problem.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah, I'm completely baffled. No one else with ziddey's kernel tweak is complaining about this, so I'm hesitant to suspect it.
Cleared cache and dalvick, fixed permissions, cleared data on the play market and vpn'd into the US, still same problem.
I'm not sure how I would update Google services... isn't that something that would update automatically?

No it will not auto update, but it will usually prompt you once you update an app that needs it... there will be a "Security Update required" notification in the drop-down, if you swipe it away or don't allow it to update, Android will gladly let you but your apps will not function properly that require the update. The current version installed can be found in Settings-Apps-All- Google Play Services and should be 4.3.25 (1117461-036) as of this posting
It will also not allow you to search or find it in your Apps list in the Play Store without the direct link, so here it is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms
Hope that helps, because otherwise a factory default might be in order, and if the problem still persists, reflashing stock images could be required.

I guess I'll have to flash back to stock - no idea why this is still happening...
I tried sideloading the latest Google Play Services, it worked, but still the "you're device isn't compatible..." error appears for many apps. Then I tried deleting accounts, clearing cache and dalvick, fixing permissions, then re-adding accounts. Same. Then I tried sideloading the latest updates of a couple of google apps (books and drive) - it worked, but still the error message in the Play Store.
Oh well. I guess that's that.
Did you modify the screen resolution? if so that could be why you are receiving that error. I experienced that with my Galaxy Nexus. If you keep resolution stock it shouldn't display that message unless for whatever reason the app truly isn't compatible with the phone.
Ive had this issie with certain apps that i KNOW are compatible with my phone. Whenever i get this error, i just use an alternate source, like blackmart, or googling the app you want to download and download it from somewhere besides google play.
Then again, since you are running a lot of custom things, you may want to try starting over from stock, not customizing anything, then try downloading those apps and seeing if your still getting that error.
Thanks, but the apps most definitely are compatible with the phone. They're Google apps on a nexus phone! And they're already installed (either stock or via the market, with no errors).
I'm aware that I can sideload the apps and have done do so successfully with a couple of them, but that really defeats the convenience of automatic updates, especially seeing as it's my wife's phone.
I will, when I have time, try factory restoring or flashing stock and going from there. The mods I'm using are fairly minor, but I suppose something, somewhere must have gotten screwed up.
Oh well, thanks for all the help anyway.

If your rooted, download lucky patcher, and theres an option to download a modded google play store. Have no idea if this will help with your issue, but its just an idea if wanna wanna give it a shot.

He already has the apps installed, that's not the issue, these are even stock Google apps saying they are incompatible after successfully installed. Unfortunately this is probably a wipe and reinstall situation now.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
or he should watch at the build.prop or there is something edited or need to wipe data from google playstore or there is some xposed module which is causing it I don't know but if you edited a lot on that custom rom with kernel and like that backup it first don't go immediately to stock or else it was just wasted time for you. It could also be your dpi but I don't think that's it also wipe cache in recovery that might work.
I'm sure this will work for you.
Open Settings app → Tap on Apps → Look for the Google Play Store and tap on it → Press on three-dots at the right corner and Tap on Uninstall updates → Tap on Ok to confirm
That's it!

Master necromancer!
Hello,
So I have this issue that came up recently. I just got installed PA 4.4.4 and I'm unlocked and rooted. I'm trying to download apps from the play store but a lot of them (say more than 50%) just don't download. When I click install, it just says "downloading" and the progress bar just continues to flash but I never get how much is downloading and whatnot. Apps like pushbullet, reddit news, and ES File Explorer. Some apps just download fine and quickly. I can't seem to find a pattern between what apps I can download and what I can't.
Any ideas?
EDIT: It seems that if I look on the play store online (from the web) some of the apps I have trouble installing are listed as "installed". But there are some apps listed at "installed" and I can still download them.

This seems to be an issue with the Playstore. I've had this experience several times- ES Explorer for instance never downloads, so I just go to the estrong webpage and download directly from there. Regarding the installed listing, try clearing the data and cache in Settings- Apps- Google Playstore.
Play store is a part of the factory OS.. I would recommend a flash stock.. To reset your phone partitions.. If incomplete to it's original state

If you have problems with play store
After you installed the google play.
It will pop up a notification: New installed: Click to config auto
launch setting.
Click it.
Then you be on the Auto-run Manager
Then select "Google Play services"
You can select "Google Play Store" too or just ignore it.
Then Google play will work.

You don't usually need root. You can pull the APK from another rooted device, or use something like Raccoon to download the APK and then you just have to sideload. If the app has run-time compatibility checks, then root would be needed to alter the device signature, but that's just asking for trouble.
This is a store compatibility check, the app dev has placed restrictions on the app. They could be specifically excluding your device model for some reason or it's not designed for Android M, who knows. If you could get the apk, the you can download it. If you have access to another device that this works on, backup the app with something like ES File Explorer (it should not require root). Then transfer the apk to Axon and install.
