So i have rooted my phone and i used substratum with the swift black theme. Everything works perfectly.
HOWEVER
This is now the 2nd time i update my apps by mistake and i cannot open alot of them, amongst some are magisk module etc. Last time i tried to revert changes trough substratum app but that didnt work(couldnt start apps still) i tried uninstalling but the apps still remained dark and some could not be opened.
Can someone help me out what steps i should take, thanks in advance.
Edit: As i cannot remove my own thread i'll add the solution that finally helped me.
Go into TWRP, find the substratum folder and flash the substratum recovery legacy zip, wipe dalvik/cache and it was fixed.
Go to substratum, delete theme and install again, uncheck new apps until they will be supported by theme
Im using same theme

I havent done much of the root and rom thing in a long time but it was always pretty straight forward. I don't know what is going on. I unlocked the bootloader and installed SU. Attempted to use layers and nothing seemed to work I rebooted my phone and I got an error "NFC has stopped working". I have been able to get into the system but this red theme will not go away. I have wiped davlik and cache and performed a full wipe. I have even installed a new rom and still thisbred theme wont go away. I'm sure it's something I am doing but any help would be appreciated.
If you installed the layers via Layers Manager, just use that to uninstall. Otherwise, you can delete the files from /vendor/overlay.
same thing here
after installing got same error message and unable to uninstall through the manager, cant find the folder layers. It isn't under the vendor folder.
Same problem
Nexus 6P with layers
Tried uninstalling through layers manager, overlays won't go, they keep showing up in uninstall panel. Any help?
Vendor is a separate partition and it's no longer under system partition in nexus 6p and few other recent phones.
Your best bet is to delete overlay folder under vendor partition or flash the vendor.img alone from the factory images.

Disregard, just found this
Recently wiped to go back to DU rom, went to restore apps in TiB, stuck at 0%. Reinstalled Nitrogen with same issue. Went back to DU with just ROM SU, and Gapps installed, still same issue.
Tried setting SELinux to permissive, no help. Changed the app processing mode in TiB to the other settings, no help.
The only way I was able to restore apps was by creating an update.zip in TiB and then installing it through TWRP.
Any Ideas?
Also my substratum won't install themes anymore either, not sure if that's related.
Edit: https://www.xda-developers.com/psa-...broke-titanium-backup-substratum-heres-a-fix/
I struggled with this too last night, XDA published a PSA about this.
The fix is pretty simple and straight-forward. All you need to do is navigate to the “Verify Apps” section located in Settings-> Google-> Security. Once you reach the “Verify Apps” section, disable the feature. Then head over to Developer Options and un-check the “Verify Apps over USB” option. That’s it. After successful completion of both of the steps above, you should have Substratum and Titanium Backup working flawlessly on your device once again.

The fix works with both TB and Substratum--at least for now.
Actually this fixed Titanium backup for me, but I'm still struggling to get my Substratum theme to stick. It will compile and enable and it says up-to-date, but even after restarting the System UI it isn't showing. Not sure where to go from here.
Both worked for me after XDA post fix
Only tested in MIUI 9 oreo could work with nougat too
If your phone stopped working after applying a theme making your system ui stop and a black lockscreen you can easily fix it by doing what i found out as i didn't see anything on it anywhere else
Requirements
-unlocked bootloader
-TWRP recovery installed
Reboot to recovery then open file manager in advanced window
Go to /data/system/theme
Then delete the files with app names that stops
Like
com.android.systemui
Then just reboot and you're done ?
Nice
thanks, i wish i read this befoe reformatting my phone because of a theme i applied that made EVERYTHING dark and unusable. Xiaomi does fantastic hardware but the software side is pure ass.
Also forcing you to use their app to change themes is so greedy, at least make it work.
Same Problem with Miui 8
Hello i got this problem when installing third party theme on my redmi 3s with miui 8. But i dont have twrp installed and dont have unlocked bootloader. Can you help me?
I have clean flashed resurrection remix 6.0 (8.1.0) with stock Gapps on my OnePlus 2
Everytime i go to the apps menu in settings and the app permission menu it says package installer has stopped
I have tried wiping cache/dalvik
I have tried clean flashing with pico Gapps still it didnt work so back with stock
P.s. i have no problem in installing from play or from an unknown source and have no problem in providing new permission to the apps but i cant change them once selected
Unable to attach images using apps and cant post link before 10 posts
I have exactly the same problem.
Nexus 6p on RR6.0 (Oreo 8.1).
Can install apps. But cannot access permissions.
Getting this error message "package installer keeps stopping".
I have tried to clear package installer cache, even clear its data. But the same problem keeps cropping up.
This post has no solution to it. Just an affirmative to whatever you are facing. I wish somebody could help.
Experts, please tell us what information you need. and how to get it for you. I would be very pleased if I could get to the bottom of this frustrating problem. Thank you!
I just had same issue with my Mi Max running RR 6.0.
It started after changing the theme to dark in settings-display option.
I reflashed and things were ok.
As soon as I change theme to dark it started again.
I reverted back to automatic theme then everything is alright.
So i guess issue is with RR source.
My wife's Pixel with RR 6 just had the same issue. Setting the theme to automatic fixed the issue. Makes me wonder if the dark theme setting during night hours would make the issue appear only at night...
Edit: Posted a bit too soon. Set her clock to 10pm, watched the theme change, attempted to edit permissions... Package Installer stopped.
Hello XDA community,
I recently purchased the Nothing Phone 1 running on the latest version of Android 13. After rooting my phone using Magisk, I installed several Magisk modules which worked fine initially.
Here's a list of Magisk modules that I installed in chronological order:
Font Manager
NotoCJK
Fullscreen/Immersive Gesture
G-visual (later closed as I didn't see any effect)
Shamiko
DRM disabler
Revanced Youtube
Webview Manager (replaced with ungoogle chromium)
Nexus Media Before installing the 10th module, I took a full backup of my device using Titanium Backup. However, during the backup process, it got stuck while backing up a file named "Media 13-9427200." After several attempts, I had to cancel the backup for this file to complete the backup process.
Pix3lify (failed to unpack boot image and finally used slim mode)
Safetynet fix
After installing the 11th module, I went to bed and installed several applications before sleeping, such as Kiwi, Shizuku, App Ops, Buzzkill, Automate, Vmos, Brevent, and Greenify.
12.Audio Modification Library
13.Ainur Narsil
After installing the 13th module, I noticed that my phone started behaving abnormally, and it would automatically reboot. Every time I start the phone, the interface freezes after two minutes, and it restarts automatically after several seconds. This scared me, so I uninstalled all the Magisk modules and applications installed after the 11th module and disabled the two audio modules, but it didn't seem to work. So, I turned off the phone for a few hours, and it seemed to work fine after that.
When I tried to log in to my Reddit account, I found that I couldn't use "Continue with Google." When I went to the Google section in Settings, I found that I couldn't open it either.
I searched for solutions online and found that the problem might be due to the Webview. I replaced it with Ungoogle chromium and downloaded the latest version of Android Webview from the Play Store and disabled WebView Manager. But nothing worked. I tried updating the Carrier Services and clearing the Google Service's cache, but it didn't work either. (All Google apps can be opened and used normally.)
After updating the WebView, things got worse. I use a third-party launcher called Smart Launcher, and I have many customized app icons. I found that all customized app icons no longer work, only the native icons can open the app.
I am really frustrated and everything seems out of my control. I decided to restore all the data from the backup I made last night using Titanium Backup (in snap mode). Unfortunately, after the restore was complete and I restarted the phone, I found that my phone was bricked. I can see the boot animation and select the launcher, but once I choose the launcher, the screen goes black, and I cannot do anything. I am also unable to enter Safe Mode as it keeps restarting.
At the same time, I used a software control my phone. I can see NOTHING in sdcard.
What can I do? Is there any way to fix my phone and preserve my data? If not, I am willing to wipe all my data. Also, if I restore my phone to factory settings, can I still use the backup data I made with Titanium Backup?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Additionally, please find attached a screenshot of the only interface I can see on my phone after booting up.
Seems you've broken lot of system apks , clearly Nothing Launcher is first . See if you have a intact bootloader and use fastboot commands to flash the launcher but I'm quite sure there many culprits in system .
So maybe short way is to flash entirely system image shown here in one of all threads about phone unbrick
