Got a chance to play around with this today. Pics of the phone and system dump below.
This is NOT an update.zip, but it can be used to build one in capable hands. So don't go sucking my bandwidth please!

Thanks!
Nexus One Dump?
I'm a little surprised this isn't up here yet. There is a dump floating around rumored to be Nexus One. You can find it at AndroidSPIN.com.
Has anyone poked around at all?
It's right where it should be in the Development and Hacking > Android software development forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600190
I've had a quick look through this and found some interesting files.
Most notably, something called 'GenieWidget.apk'.
When are non blurry camera's going to hit the market? Nice dump though hopefully this will get ported to the Behold II....*cough*
like @wpbcubsfan said there is already a topic about that in the right section : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600190
New boot animation : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAFSEsEZnnE&feature=player_embedded
Do you try to push the apk in another device or do you think it 'll need some modification of some files ?

They need to be resized and odexed or whatever so it can run on your G1/mytouch or whichever you have. Theres this script in the G1 section that does deodexes or something.
Ace is right. The sizes are to big for dreams and magics. is there even a way to resize the files? also, custom roms are going to become harder now that there are different sizes for phones, but im guessing cyanogen is going to make roms for the neXus
aw, i was kinda hoping that this would be in a .img format so we can load it up and play with it in the emulator
SDK Emulator
Is there anyway I can take this dump and use it in the SDK emulator?
to devs: FIRST ONE TO PORT ISNT A ROTTEN EGG!
Yes, this is the Nexus One.
The boot animation works without modification on the Droid.
Could anyone provide boot.img also
Our guys have been trying to push some of the apk's but not had any luck so far. Has anybody got any apk's from this onto any other build yet?
I tried with my phone and the emulator, but I am a newb. Most of the new apks require Android 2.1 by the way.
if you tried the same method of installing the new maps fex week ago? they modify a file to let G1 thought it was on 2.0 kernel or 1.6 don't remember (system or settings files don't remember) after that the apk works on G1 and we can find it via the market. ask MLIGN he made the change.
So has anyone on here gone into the VoicePlus Beta? A lot of people on there are curious if anyone has looked into rooting the img or extracting the Apk. http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Voice...ash-the-Voice-Plus-Beta-ROM-Image/ta-p/325923 Even one of the mods has said he uses Cyanogen and was wondering if anything was going on over here.
p.s. Cyanogen....you ROCK!

why not just extract the apk yourself using an appmanager? the post to forums
complete
Honestly...because I've never done it. ;-) I know not a really good reason, but between school, work and the fam...I haven't been able to take the time to learn. I'm hoping that over my next deployment (I'm in the Army also) that I can learn to create an app and maybe cook a ROM.
Interesting
I like the CityID and the call divert and call defer seems neat - hopefully better visual voicemail than T-mobile's other app.
I'd like to see it integrated in Cyanogen, and SuperD roms
its a waste, dont flash u will LOOSE ROOT
i pulled the system image
ok, I've been picking this up as I'm going... I extracted the nbh file and now have .nb files, but I dont know where to go from here...
anyone can point me in a direction would be helpful. I have SDK installed and can make and start a virtual device.

Sorry but just Milestone 2's custom ROM ...
good thing
good thing you asked, I was just about to start looking at milestone ROMS for it because they seem well developed so far.
So are there any custom ROMS for this? Probably a stupid question, as I'm still researching... (just about it yesterday, though from China, I pray someone makes one that supports chinese...)
You can try Motorola Defy ROMS. Milestone 2 ROM or Motorola Cliq 2 ROM works with some small changes on Defy.
Try nandroid backup and flash a milestone 2 kernel via RSD Lite
Milestone 2 Port for Defy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906465
Cliq 2 port for defy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914598
Theoretically possible, though I prefer using D2 roms, since they also include the bootstrap and very minor modifications need to be done.

Gee, crap... I have a lot to learn. I've flashed a good 3-4 phones before with custom ROMs, but they were never as complicated as how the android forums make it out to be. I still have a lot to learn, I have no idea what a nandroid backup, RSD Lite, defy, boostrap, etc is. I have about 30 threads open reading up on it but none really seem to explain how each of these tie in together. I don't suppose theres a FAQ for noobs for android ROMs is there? Cause so far it's not relating to any of the vague flashing work I've done in the past for a Samsung Blackjack or a Sony Experia X1 Sorry for acting like such a n00b, haha.

RSD Lite is a program you run on your computer by Motorola. It flashes official motorola releases without having the need of a working phone, so it has two purposes: Updating to a new motorola-release and restoring when the phone is screwed.
defy is a phone by motorola, which earns it's name because it defies water and dust
bootstrap is not something that's easy to explain, to keep it simple it allows you to boot into a custom recovery that allows you to flash non-motorola roms, like the project I'm working on. It also allows you to make nandroid backups
nandroid backups are direct dumps of system partitions packed into an .img, kinda comparable to ripping a dvd to a .iso file. The most important system partitions are:
/system <-- stores, well, the system. All apps and drivers and such. The partition is uneditable by default, but by gaining root acces (rooting) you are able to remount the system as read-write instead of read-only and are thus able to edit the system files. You could compare it to program files and the WINDOWS on one partition.
/data <-- stores your data, google login infos and such. It's always accesable. Comparable to my documents.
/cache <-- not really sure what it does
/recovery <-- this is the recovery mode on the phone. It is locked and unreplacable. It can be used to flash official signed motorola images but that's all. That's why we need the bootstrap app to launch our own recovery, the one inside /recovery is unmodify-able.
/boot <-- You've probably heard of this. The locked bootloader means that /boot is unaccesable for us. /boot contains very core stuff and for some people it's better that it's locked down.
Hope that clarifies stuff a little bit

heh i didnt know that ^^
Crap again, but this time out of surprise and appreciation. Thanks SO much. You probably saved me hours of reading and piecing this information together myself.
So you can backup and restore nandroid backups whenever you screw up a certain partition, is that right? And it sounds like one would need to run RSDLite to be able to use a Bootstrap which would then probably make use of some nandroid backups to modify and/or input some custom ROMS? And in some cases, custom ROMs are merely just modified nandroid backups? This is keeping deep.... haha
May I trouble you for a couple more quick summaries? How about: FissionROM, Angro2...something... I closed the tread that mentioned it (I've probably skimmed 50 threads so far), MIUI ROMs, dlavik, vulerable recovery, root (that is, installing something called "root", mentioned in the "Latest and Best guide" thread), GOT, OR (this means OpenRecovery I assume), CM, and uh... OK, thats it for now. I think I'm starting to tie all of this together. Whether these terms can be easily explained or not, I apprecaite the help you've given so far. Thanx a bunch

There are two sorts of custom roms:
Real: Something build from the AOSP sources with modifications to it. They usually are way different from each other. CyanogenMod is the most famous with the most modifications to the AOSP ( Android Open Source Project ). Liberty is one of those and so is FissionRom. Miui is also a custom rom.
Fake: People that just modify stuff from others. Angro2 is an edit of the stock milestone2 rom.
Dalvik Android is an system which runs inside an emulator, DalvikVM. (DalvikVirtualMachine). It's comparable to virtualbox and vmware on windows.
vurnerable recovery, GOT, OR are terms which only concern orinigal milestone.
What you guys need to do to run a custom rom is this:
1. Root (download z4root from the market)
2. Install recovery bootstrapper (droid2 version from the market)
3. Use the recovery to install cyanogenmod, which I will supply
Thanks again Mikevhl, again, saved me hours (if not days) of piecing together info.
Am I right in assuming you are the creator of the CyanogenMod? You said you [will] supply it... may I ask where can we get it? I'd like to try it out. Do you know of any of these ROMs support Chinese by chance? Will yours? I live in China so its a necessity.
So it sounds like Dalvik would be slower than using actual ROMs, since it runs on top of the OS. Fake ROMs sound easier to make, so theres probably a lot of those floating around I would image. Right now I still have to learn the difference between all these ROMs, and which ones the MS2 can even use, since ROMs for other phones are not compatible with this (as per the initial point of this thread, haha).
Looking forward to your updates Mikevhl

Dalvik is the default virtual machine from android, so it wouldn't be slower because every app on android uses it, it's not a modification from the ROM.
Basic Dalvik is the java virtual machine chosen by android.
@Mikevhl:
The user cvpcs had made an AOSP rom for Droid 2 that may help your job. You can modify to milestone 2 the config he made. It's on hxxps://github.com/cvpcs/android_device_motorola_droid2
I thought of doing this and use to compile AOSP but I never had time to actualy do it.
root Milestone2.2.1 with z4root and instal Cynogen Gingerbread ROM
Dear Mike,
I need your advise and help. How can I root my Milestone 2(Italian version-now using in India), officially updated to 2.1 and then to 2.2.1, using z4root and install latest version of Cynogen Mod Gingerbread ROM?And, is there any other ROM more suitable to my phone than Cynogen? Please give me a step by step specific instructions for z4rooting and installing the suitable ROM avoiding the sophesticated technical terms as I am not an expert in this field.I am using a Windows XP laptop in which Motorola Driver pack5.1.0 and Installer 3.8.3 are installed.I have been surfing through hundreds of threads in various forums but they all seem to be complicated and confusing .So I am requesting you to please render me your kind help.
Waiting for you with thanks in advance,

PS:Also please give me your link for making a donation.
You can root your M2 with SuperOneClick (search on Google or XDA)
You can't install Cyanogenmod or any other custom rom that you don't see in this section, the only rom available for Milestone2 is argent2stone

Dear Patton &Majkel,
My Milestone is unrooted and officially updated to 2.2.1 from Motorola Software update site using USB AND WINDOWS XP PC.Hence whether this can be rooted with z4Root?If yes, what is the procedure? And I saw in various threads that latest CynogenMod7 7.1.0-RC8-11.06.02 can be installed in this rooted Milestone2.2.1.Is it possible without any drawbacks?Pl advise.

Okay, before anyone asks:
No you cannot flash this without a developer dock on your Ticwatch 2
MAKE A BACKUP
MAKE ANOTHER BACKUP
FOR GODS SAKE MAKE A FRIKKIN BACKUP
This is in no way, shape or form intended as a daily driver if you happen to be able to flash it
Things are broken, stuff is missing and many more undiscovered things are going to happen
THIS IS MAINLY A DEVELOPER RELEASE SO OTHERS CAN HELP!
Well now that's out of the way: Welcome to the first ever publicly released Android Wear 2 ROM for your Ticwatch 2!
As mentioned above this is mainly a download and playground for developers so far and not intended for use with daily driver Ticwatch 2's so far.
I will not provide any support in this thread whatsoever about this ROM as this is not my work. However I have been working together with another guy to make this even possible, tho he did all the coding/rewriting/magic to make this possible at all.
The initial dump came from my very own Ticwatch E and stuff was ported over to the Ticwatch 2 then, or at least we tried as good as we could. Stuff like vibration, microphone and the side tickle are still not working and need to be fixed, however due to missing drivers and their source code this wasn't possible yet. This is why we've decided to release what we have so far so other developers can hopefully jump in and help us here.
The Download comes with a Scatter file for the SP Flash Tool, however I won't provide any further instructions on how to use it or how to make a backup of your watch. I myself am too unskilled to do anything else than making a dump with that tool so the actual "porting-guy" (Luxios) was able to work with since he doesn't own a Ticwatch S/E.
DOWNLOAD --- Mirror
You can also download the FULL TICWATCH 2 ROM ZIP (or directly from Mobvoi) or download a TICWATCH 2 PARTITION DUMP (or a MIRROR available here). For your porting pleasure
"Some" instructions or infos so you won't have to figure them out anymore:
The Ticwatch 2 and Ticwatch S/E go into MediaTek flashing mode the moment you connect a turned off watch via USB
Here's a handy little diagram for the pinout on the back if you wanna try this
Please keep in mind that I'm unable to help you in any way, shape or form with all of this and I won't take responsibility for broken watches or shattered hopes and dreams! I haven't even flashed it myself onto my TW2 yet since my 3D printer and spring contacts didn't arrive yet. Once I have those 2 things I'll probably provide a file for you guys to download and print yourselves to make your very own dev dock
Anyways, have fun and I hope some of you guys can help us to make this awesome Ticwatch 2 finally run Android Wear in its finest form!
Good to see it.
Following....
Damm great man. Now i need to get myself a dev dock. Does anybody have any recommendations where to get this..
I've read somwhere of a guy who didn't used a dock but these little mini hooks, maybe that can help ?
You can make a quick version of the developer dock. It works.
I've added both the original dump and ROM from the Ticwatch 2 here now so you guys can get started Thanks already for your help!

So far there is nothing, we've literally only dumped the partitions from the Ticwatch E and you can flash them onto your 2 without any modifications. However once we have drivers we'll make them available tho.

Except microphone, vibration, the side tickle and prob something I'm forgetting right now everything should work. Basically you can use it daily already IF you want but we won't guarantee that it will since we haven't done anything to it yet except dumping and providing it. We did try to get those things to work but they require more tinkering.
Bad luck. It seems that my watch end up in boot loop after flashing this rom.
I have restore my backup.
Edit: Use twrp to wipe data, then it will boot.

Dear All,
This morning when i tried to restore deleted photos from my A2017G (AEX 5.8 nFound Latest Treble ROM) because i accidentally deleted some important photos yesterday.
These are my spec:
- A2017G 4/64
- AEX 5.8 Treble by NFound build date 20180812
- Kernel Schwifty vR3+
- Magisk v16.7 (1671)
-- GL Tools Module
-- Magic Charging Switch Module
File recovery app:
- Disk Digger Pro File Recovery build date 20180805
I found some recovered photos which i never took with my camera or screenshot, and by the look of them indicated that they were taken silently by system (please notice there is no statusbar on the pics).
Can anyone else confirm my findings? Is it possible that the custom ROM itself does this or other software? I never installed any malicious or unknown apks on my phone but XDA Labs Apk and Magisk Modules.
Attached are some of my proofs (recovered with Disk Digger Pro), there are more but some of them are private whatsapp chat session and my contact lists.
Please be advised, this is a pure Q&A post, i never intended to accuse any developer of any ROM or Software regarding my findings posted in this post.

For the time being, I move to PixelExperience Treble GSI.

Seeing similar screenshots here on Kranoner's last RR-O. My system has a lot of mods, but yours is clean right so it's not likely our apps or mods. I checked there's nothing similar on my Sony Z3C L14.1. Could be from custom bootstack or recovery. More likely it could be from closed ZTE code in drivers or bootstack. Easy way to narrow the cause to being proprietary ZTE code is running complete stock with root for awhile to check if it occurs. My ROM is B32 Nougat source with it too (though I think it has some Chinese B10 source mixed in looking at github), so can run B32 stock to check. Some screenshots are saved as 1440 while some as 720 resolution.

That has got to be the most idiotic thing. So you're saying "they" (Kranoner, NFound, WesTD, et al) are subversives? Secretly and purposely grabbing goodies from our phones for some nefarious purpose? LMFAO.
Sure it's not beyond possibility but still...
That can be the case with anyone, whether they're flying the Red, White & Blue or the sickle and hammer.
Since a big chunk of ROMs are built by folks from around the world what are you gonna do. Start vetting devs to find out what their views are regarding the US/West before flashing ROMs. We really don't need that kind of thinking.

ZTE, a government audited company from China recently got whipped by the USA for breeching privacy laws and providing equipment to Iran and you are worried about Russian and Turkish developers?
Do you realise that the Turks are big allies of the west? They fight with the west against trouble in the middle east.
And what connection would a developer have with any politics anyway?
Who says developers dont work in secret for the government? but i say crazy things fast lol,but not impossible. What else can the problem be?Google sources?

Report says it's a Win32 trojan. Don't think that applies to an Android kernel build file. Probably false positive
