Smoothness and debloat - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hey guys, the biggest difference I experienced switching from a OnePlus 3 to a S7 edge was how smooth the OnePlus 3 was. Since the day I switched, I've been trying to replicate a similar smooth experience. So far, I've turned on - FORCE GPU RENDERING (Made some difference)
- DISABLED APPS USING BK DISABLER PRO (Memory usage lowered a little)
The smoothness of the phone is most important for me. I don't play any games on my phone, ROOTING ISN'T AN OPTION FOR ME ON THIS PHONE. Any user who has been able to get smooth UI on his/her S7 edge, please do share. I've listed my running services below, I'm open to suggestions regarding what to disable next. I don't want to mess with the core features of the phone. I'll appreciate your help

[Q] Is anyone facing scrolling lag in setting page?

Recently i tried out a brand new S5, and i found out it scrolls so smooth, especially, but my phone scrolls a bit laggy in the scrolling page, is it normal?
It wouldn't be normal on my phone. Mine has markedly less lag now than when it was new.
The difference probably being that you have more apps installed or that I removed most of the stock bloatware, which you may still have. If you have too many apps running in the background, your phone will develop lag.

im keep having 600 mb free in my system
If you believe that is the only factor that counts, you are mistaken. An OS is much more complex than one metric.

My favourite ROM for the S6

Hi. I want to share my experience with a couple of ROMS. Maybe people new to ROMS or to the S6 would like to know.
Before my S6 I used iPhones for years (ever since the 3GS). I always jailbroke my phones and customized iOS as much as possible. For that reason I immediately rooted my phone and looked in to any improvements I could make.
Just so you know: Rooting usually trips Knox and yes you probably lose your guarantee. That's a whole other subject.
The S6 is a fantastic phone, no matter what everyone says about battery life, etc. It's still freaking great and much better than an iPhone 6.
1. My second favourite (but many people's favourite and #1 choice as ROM for the S6): XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition
If you want to immediately improve your S6 I suggest you install the XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition. It's a super lightweight version of the original Touch Wiz rom. It's got all of the Samsung bloatware removed. It's extremely fast, animation speeds are adjusted, and it makes it a 100% better experience than the original Touch Wiz that comes with the phone.
It comes with a companion zip file called the Aroma Package. It's like a second installation which includes tons of optional apps and customizations you can add to your phone. It's developed by @edgarf28. Go download it, and give him THANKS.
2. My favourite ROM (and also for many others): back-to-n0t3; Bring the larger fun to the flagship
The absolute best ROM for me is the back-to-n0t3; Bring the larger fun to the flagship. It's the Galaxy Note 5 firmware ported over to the S6. Since the Note 5 and the S6 are basically the same phone, the developer @arter97 noticed that in the Note 5 many finishing touches, memory management and performance was handled better than in the S6, so he ported the ROM.
I'll just say that after using this ROM my S6 has been on another level. It works great, it gives me 3 hours of SOT (and many people report even 5 hours). I use my phone non-stop: Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc. I give myself no restrictions.
Animation speeds are great, RAM never reaches max usage, and the higher DPI resolution is also something I love.
I also now have some of the features of the Note 5 in my S6: I can stream videos directly to Youtube, can use the "one handed" settings, etc.
So download it and thank the developer.
Both these ROMS will make you a happier S6 user.
Great explanation.
Fingerprint reader Funtionality
@gaston_garcia Does Fingerprint reader work in any of the roms you mentioned?
Does your private mode works properly on back to n0t3?
Fingerprint works in both Roms

i know exynos is not friendship for devs. but idont know that;
when is the coming cm 12 or miuı roms for galaxy s6?
sorry for bad grammar

Concerned about a scrolling and smoothness.

Took the plunge and got the note 5 as been using the note 4 for a while as was pretty much seduced the the new processor and 4gb ram. However upon using it in real life I found the scrolling and smoothness was no where compared to my note 4. I tried to stick a custom kernel on it but still the scrolling was horrible especially on apps like talon for Twitter which I use way too often enough to notice the difference. I didn't bother getting a custom rom as really expected the experience to be great out of the box.
Can you please share your views about the smoothness and scrolling of the nexus 6p please as am really arching to change my phone and really want to try this one out.
Theres already a Thread about this in the Reallife Usage Forum.

Will the G6 be ever stutter and lag free?

Well, coming from an S7E, the major issue I have with the G6 is how slow it is when opening contacts, to apps, to camera. I still have my S7E and everything opens faster on it. I know the SD 821 is quite capable, so it must be the LG UI that's making it slow.
I have a couple of questions,
1) I have the 870DS and looking at the trend I may never be able to root. So can someone who has an US version with a custom rom tell me if it has made the phone any faster?
2) And also does anyone here know at all if the 870DS version has any hopes in future for unlocking the bootloader?
Thanks guys. Cheers.
Unlocking the bootloader no, unless it gets cracked which I doubt. Has not happened since the G4.
Custom roms can make the phone faster because they remove a lot of features and run stock Android but almost always the Camera app will really be bad on custom roms (unless based on stock rom).
I have a Pixel and G6. Pixel is known to be probably the smoothest Android phone to this day.
The G6 does not really lag behind it at all. The animations are smoother on the Pixel but thats about it.
I had some intial lag the first day with the device but thats about it.
If yours is lagging consider a factory reset maybe.
@shri080
Do a factory reset in the settings. This helped a lot of people who have lag issues. There is an extra thread for this.
Do a backup of your apps before doing it!

Have you tried possibly a different launcher?
As well as debloating what apps you can?
Also there's always the options in developer mode that IMO truly help with ram allocation and overall speed.
Yes the LG G6 should be lag free and smooth just like the Google Pixel or the One Plus 3T as they share the same powerful processor. I think atm most non Pixel phones are stuck with just Android 7.0 where as Pixel might be on 7.1.1 since 7.1.1 might be better on performance or smoother than 7.0. Once the amazing LG G6 gets 7.1.1 in the future I guess we should see some difference in smoothness or performance. As for unlocked bootloader or root for the LG G6 or any LG flagships, always get the international version single SIM like the LG H870 which already has custom ROMs and TWRP recovery. I don't think the dual SIM will get bootloader unlocked. LG did great optimization on it's LG UX 6.0 which is fast and smooth and is better than SD 835 or Exynos 8895 equipped Galaxy S8 and it's slow, laggy TouchWiz. Imagine the upcoming LG V30 running on Android 7.1.2 on top of LG UX 6.0 with SD 835 would make it the best favorite Android phone of all time! Go to Settings/Developer Options/tick on "Force GPU Rendering" should make the beast smoother or snappier. If root available try L Speed/Entropy/fstrim apps found on Play Store.
Have you went to developer options and reduced animations, this will make your phone faster

This doesn't really make it faster, just makes animations move faster, which personally looks worse to me.
You must be kidding, the G6 is the smoothest running phone i bought to date. I have the 870DS with around 30 apps installed.
My previous Phones were the Note 2, S5 and Note 4. This is what i call laggdroid, horrible...
No lag here, smooth for me

Okay, so i formatted my phone and set it as a new device instead of restoring apps from the previous device. This has over all made the device a tad bit faster and i am kind of happy about it now. Also, my main issue was, the dialer/contact app would always open almost a second late behind my S7E, after the reset it became a bit faster but i was still not happy, So just tried a third party dialer app and trust me it works like a charm!!! Now the dialer app opens as quick as it does on my S7E Since that's the thing i use my phone mostly for, it was so irritating that it lagged a second or half a second behind my S7E. Thankfully now it's all fine
Also, reducing the animation speed makes it more jerky and ugly and it doesn't really speed up the device at all. Hopefully as and when we get 7.1 update, the UI may be smoother
Android 8.0 will fix all lag and battery issues I'm super sure of it its only a matter of time
I honestly think G6 is pretty smooth, this is coming from S8. There ARE times that it stutter, but it's been the LG way unfortunately. If there's one lag I could remove, it's the camera launching lag.

I believe there's a fix for camera launch lag, you just have to look for it.
Also, Fulmics rom makes this phone faster and smooth as baby's butt, so if you're rooted and would like an amazing OEM-based rom, this is it

I agree, the G6 is already smooth as it is, without root and without a custom ROM but knowing me, I went ahead to install Fulmics ROM & boy oh boy it is smooth.

Hell yeah!
Had it on my G3 and since then i don't even miss stock android roms anymore.
I also find the G6 to be a nice smooth phone. But I also have issues with a slow and laggy dialer app. I don't think it's then phone in that case, I think it's the actual app that isn't properly coded/built. Just doesn't seem that good.
I use Google contacts instead, does the job fine, but i left the stock dialer. I rarely use it, usually make calls from contacts, so the occasional time i DO use it, isn't a big deal.

S8 Exinos best rom in performance without lags?

good morning. i tried 3 roms stock based but the lags are always present. according to experiences, have i to stop search because is impossible having a phone without lags like the s9 or can i find a rom for my phone with better performance?
every suggest?
thanks
Solution: Get rid od the Samsung and buy OnePlus or Pixel phone, if you want phone without lag. Samsung still has to much bloatware and behind running programs.
