Hi,
This phone is great!
But how do you guys bring up the menu key for some apps? For exmaple, holding down the "recently" key would bring up menu key in most phones. But in A1, Nougat 7.1 bring split screen.
I played around in GravityBox for force overflow enable/disable menu, but no avail. Even some apps that should have menu key, "disappeared" when using this A1
Any help out there?

Same problem here, key button performs the same action than recent button, very odd. I tried above apps and gravitybox without luck.
Button mapper works for sure, I've been using it for several months without issues.
I can't get it to work in Oreo
Even with gravitybox using show menu with custom button doesn't work.

I have installed the CleanROM version 2 and included the Enable On-Screen Softkeys option. I would like to disable at minimum the hard key home button without disabling the softkey home button. The hard key home button is especially annoying in s-note or OneNote as I inadvertently activated it by my palm. I've tried to find an Xposed module or a key number/file to mod but haven't had much luck with what I have found in the forums. Can anyone give me a little help in the right direction?
I have a mini bluetooth keyboard and it doesnt have a menu, or home button, forcing me to use the buttons on the phone. I read that these shotcuts should work, but they dont.
CTRL+ESC = Menu key
ALT+ESC = Home key
also, my back button is the right mouse button, not esc.
anyone know how i can map the menu button to a key? (ex, F1, or ctrl+esc)
Thank you

Hi
Any solutions?
Thanx
Still nothing really. I found some mouse shortcuts though. Two figure double tap brings up the voice commands. And two figure tap and hold brings up the task manager. It's finicky though. Esc some times brings you to the home page.
Still looking for a good solution.

Download GravityBox[KK] from Xposed. You can modify what they keys do in there. If you don't have Xposed then HERE is the link
I think that's better use MenuBeGone xposed module.
It does only that..
Works for me on stock samsung touchwix rom (gng8).
So I just got gravity box and was messing around with it. Found the custom nav key setting which I found pretty cool. But after enabling it, I find that the home and recent button on the nav bar would appear with a slight delay after unlocking the device from sleep. The Back button would behave normally...only the recent and home button. I tried wiping cache. disabling Gravitybox and disable custom nav key. Problem still persists. help
Hello everyone!
I am currently using @Lenny Bard's SuperTouchWiz v5 ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/rom-untouched-stock-rom-t3419034) and I'm loving the ROM except for one thing:
The leftmost key (to the left of the home button), once short-pressed launches the switch app, the long-press does the menu function (or settings? w/e). I want to swap the two as I am much used to a short press launching the menu function.
Can anyone help or lead me to somewhere which can help me solve my problem? I've been searching around but alas it seems that I cannot fully find the proper solution.
Except for Xposed, there isn't any way to do it. Except if you're a developer.

My installed ROM comes with Magisk manager, any way to make a workaround with it?

Unless there is a Magisk module that allows you to do it, then no.
Well here's what I did which turned the soft press to menu and long press to google search (altho what I wanted was for it to become app switcher but the long press on home button does that already so I guess it's fine )
On system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
I replaced Key 139 APP_SWITCH to MENU
and Key 217 to APP_SWITCH
