Redmi Note 3 is one gem of device.
It is #1 selling and higest sold device of Xiaomi in india with 3 Millions sales in India.
It has over 7 Million users worldwide.
Still it hasn't been received miui nougat ,that's really shame upon miui to do with that kind of epic device, even mido has not that frequent activities on XDA like we have.
Petition :-
https://www.change.org/p/lei-jun-redmi-note-3-nougat
Currently ,there are 5.4k something supporters it has on change.org.
So guys ,who don't have yet signed this petition on change.org ,just go and show the level of kenzo users.
Please share your views on this below.

No matter how much petition we sign, xiaomi never never give updates to old handsets.
Only one generation is given never second.
It's their marketing strategy.
You want updated OS and new features (split screen), buy our new handset.
This is there policy.

Guyz, this isn't gonna work at all... Xiaomi already released their next flagship note 5....also its 2 years old device and usually OEMs offer one major upgrade for mid range devices which itself is great... But dont worry, till mi max gets updated, we have miui rom always..

Does Xiaomi release too many phones?

I look at sites where they make reviews and news about new phones and I realised, that Xiaomi releases a new phone like every two weeks. Redmi, Mi Series and then numbers and after the numbers letters etc. I get the impression, that especial for the redmi series they release a phone and then they don't seem to care much about it. I bought the redmi note 2 in autumn last year. It was new but I had to get it from china. It took three weeks to come and then just a couple of weeks later redmi note 3 was released. The redmi note 2 is more or less one year old but I feel like it's from 2012. Especially when it comes to an official Android Update.
So I would like to know if it is just my impression or is that normal?
True, there is Redmi Note 4 on sales now, and only a year passed from Note 2 release. And the problem with android update, because we have MTK chip, no sources to make newer version, common problem with MTK. I will never buy an MTK phone in the future...
I think that they released RN3 because they realized that RN2 is too hungry in terms of power.
In fact it used the same SOC but they put a 4100mAh battery inside it.
About MTK, sure they don't provide a long term support in term of software updates.
Anyway my previous MTK phone (not from xiaomi) received the upgrade from Jelly Bean to KitKat about 7 months later (with several test builds in the middle).
Phone models from other vendors using the same SOC of RN2 received the upgrade, so in this case is not an exclusive MTK's fault.
BTW, we are still here talking about Marshmallow when Nougat is out and 7.1 should be live on December...
btw Jiayu S3 with MTK 6752 got unnoficial fully working 7.1 nougat update

Couldn't they then release a better battery or solve it somehow with software updates? We can remove the cover and change the battery. That's the point, why do they release new phones every second week when it has flaws. I get the impression that they are overhasty. And now they focus on the new releases and it seems like they don't care about rn2.
The phone is good for it's price but I am a little bit disappointed with the service and the communication between producer and the costumers.
In the past they were many projects and people working on custom roms but that decreased
No China manufacturer is good at customer or product support - not even in their own country. When you have a huge passing trade (the population of China), the concept of reputation means much less than in countries of smaller populations. It is the same principal as how businesses operate in small towns versus large cities anywhere in the world.
The RN2 is a lot of phone for the dollars only let down by factory software that is nothing more than an early engineering release.
@gasperoni Brainless noobs making endless and mindless demands of the already scarce devs has driven them away. Parents, please take the SIM out before giving these phones to your infants as toys
if they have the money to do it, i dont see why not. that way, us consumers can choose any phones/specs as we please from Xiaomi.
surely never MTK
Nope never an MTK for me either and I will not even consider a Chinese phone in the future, or at least many years to come. Had several Chinese phones and tables during five to six years always something wrong with them. Either the GPS is ****ty the reception, the battery, the camera or whatnot. I spent my hard earned money on a Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and for the tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. Yes it did hurt a little because the brands are much more expensive. But boy, they do work from day ONE. And never had a glitch. It's well worth the money and it only hurt me once.
Sony Z5 Premium
I have a Redmi Note 2 and I was thinking about to upgrade to Redmi Note 4 for the Ram, battery and Camcorder... But it seems that it has the same frame-laggy camcorder problem of the Redmi Note 2 (this problem is sooo Mediatek)

No Android P beta for Oneplus 5t, the existing flagship of OnePlus

For the first time Google, Android P's latest beta will be available on non pixel / Nexus devices including OnePlus 6, Essential PH-1, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Sony Xperia XZ2, Nokia 7 Plus, Oppo R15 Pro, and Vivo X21.
I immediately jumped to get my 5T signed up, only to face disappointment.
Android P beta for OnePlus 5t was skipped and the same was available only for yet to launch OnePlus 6.
Lately I have got a feeling that OnePlus has shifted their interest from consumer focused company to buiness oriented company who are more concerned about thier new flagship and less concerned about thier previous users.
The unofficial treble support was provided to our device by the hardworking developers of OnePlus community but OnePlus did not make any efforts to provide the same.
The OnePlus community should send a strong message to the company that they should not make the old coustmers feel left out.
We should pass following message to OnePlus:-
a) Providing official treble support to 5 and 5t.
b) Providing the lastest Android version along with their new flagship phones.( Which will be possible if support for project treble is available).
c) Providing all the exlusive upcoming features to previous generation phones (5 & 5t) till the time hardware permits.
A) That is not going to happen. But Mokee ported Treble so hopefully an P Beta port will come to 5T at some point.
C) This is OnePlus we're talking about, I doubt they will.
I really don't think they care about the community anymore.
I thought OnePlus had quietly prepared the 5T for Treble by creating an empty Vendor partition in the background? It's not formatted yet, and OOS doesn't see it, but it's there?
I'm unhappy too, that they didn't use the 5T for their P beta, but if they provided the official base for Treble, then maybe we'll still see something from them or at least it will be easier for the XDA Devs...

A) If we push.. all of us.. we might stand a chance.
C) Exactly
As I commented in the news.
Quote Google: "beta available TODAY from those OEMs".
The "today" tricked me into thinking that this would be my beloved 5t but Oneplus let Google speak about an even unannounced device just to get in that damn presentation.
In other words: Oneplus doesn't even care about their existing flagship the moment they know the rough release date for their next one. This is beyond everything I have ever seen in the smartphone business. At the same time advertising heavily the OP5t on Amazon to get one of the last ones.
Oneplus was never a community focused company they just said it so often that the people thought it would be so.
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!
As far as I can see this whole Situation; we will get a taste of Android P anyway. Either officially or non official.
Official: because there in fact is an unused Partition (unformatted)
Unofficial: because hobby dev peeps around the globe were able to make the oneplus 5t Support treble.. therefore custom Rom creators should be able to create Android P roms for it.
Are y'all really surprised that we wouldn't get a P beta? Lol
Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
Yes I'm in. Let's make a petition on change.org ?
Many people said of the oneplus 5t, it's the best against essencial phone... Better software, updates, design... But Essencial phone 1 have the beta xD
Now who is the best ??
I have a 5t
Android P require treble ?
I know this won't go down well, but did none of you do your homework on OnePlus before buying the 5t? OnePlus launch a new, replacement device every six months and concentrate on marketing and selling that; Every six months our new (to us) device gets moved to the back burner.
This is not a new strategy, and should not come as a surprise! Google how OnePlus 2 owners felt! I owned a 3t that was virtually obsolete four months later!
And every time this happens - every six months when a new device is launched - there is a thread on XDA to petition OnePlus about the unfairness of it all!
If this news is a surprise to anyone you should've been more aware of how the company operates.
Rant over.
Really dont't care for stock android p beta.
Much prefer for oxygen beta program with android P
Stock android is very poor and lack customization and feature option that oxygen offer.
If i want stock android experiance better solution is AOSP custom rom with plenty of feature and customization insteed of totaly naked stock android by Google IMO.
So we get OOS beta based on P later. (OP6 get first.)
I'm guessing we're still getting Treble support. There already is a /vendor partition created in one of the Beta updates iirc and they said: "Something exciting for you OnePlus 5/5T owners later this summer". So i'm guessing they're referring to Treble support.

Yh one does not always remember the exact words. P requires Treble we do not have Treble hence why we don't get it yet. If you really want it install MoKee ROM which enables Treble and wait for an Android P GSI.
Everyone should stop acting like treble is a hardware based thing.
The only reasons we did not get the beta is that Oneplus 1. is too lazy to deliver 2. wants to boost OP6 sales.
Treble is something completely software based and can be added at any given time (even without bricking the device).
I think the real reason we are complaining is (like the title says) that Oneplus is announcing stuff for a device that isn't even on sale yet.
It's like Google would have said "...and of course Pixel 3 is getting the beta from day one. We are already testing it internally and it is working great. In the meantime we are all very happy that you bought Pixel 2".
Not surprising from OnePlus. Unfortunately, they only seem to be concerned with what's the best way to make more money even if it involves abandoning their current users. This move, like all the moves they make, is about money. Doesn't matter if they ignore their current flagship device or users. Sad but true.

Please Honor

Please give further updates for Honor 8 , the processor is capable of many things but you guys are not providing any new updates.
This is the request from every honor8 user.

Seriously?
What is the point of your request?
Of course devs wants to update and fix everything! You can ask (command) Honor all you want, you bought their products. On the other hand, devs here on xda give their time for our pleasure for free so you'll have fix and updates when they can and when they have time for it.
Feel free to contribute to the community by fixing whatever you want and share it here... Or you can wait and be happy when it comes to you.
Sorry but stupid question. First a BETA for Oreo is out right now in China for Honor 8 Chinese variants, second monthly updates are coming very fast, just got yesterday B405 with May Security Patches on FRD-L09 model in Italy. I know this may vary with Countries but sincerely there's nothing to complain.
The first rule is, if you buy a smartphone don't expect anything and that includes updates. Cell phone companies are in the business of selling phones and they could care less about updates. For every person that says they won't buy a phone again because the company lied, there are 10 new customers ready to buy the next model. Be thankful if you get a new update but if you don't, move on because there is nothing you can do about it.
This isn't 2005 when smartphones were getting meaningfully faster every year or whatever it was year it was that a device you have your credit card and bank info on can be wildly insecure months after fixes have been available. If Huawei wants to have a good reputation in the US, where it's been savaged by public officials as "secret Chinese spies", then they could step up with security and keep its devices up to date.

Redmi Note 7 expected update life cycle.

As a new Xiaomi phone owner I have no idea what to expect. Do we get 2 year full support? Android Q and Android R?
They say one but do different.. because they make so much new phone,in their interest is to sell as more they can so.. you can be happy with one year support.. but hardware are so good and we have developer who give new lives to this phones when Xaomi stop supporting us.

? That don't sound so good. I assumed that 2 years was to expect, but I after buying this phone remembered that 2 years are, most likely, only for flagship phones. I hope We will see at least 1 year.
i also hope so. I only know that we will for sure get MUIU 11 and Android Q.. maybe
The good news is that this phone has sold really well, which increases the chances for good custom ROM support after Mi gives up on it.

Hopefully that's the case... Also a new Xiaomi owner here
judging from the previous iterations of xiaomi phone models, they only provide a single version upgrade to launch OS. you can expect that trend to continue.
but with the kernel code posted in github, this phone will be receiving XDA support for at least 5 years after xiaomi stops supporting it... given that the Redmi 1S is still being supported :good:
I usually use phone for about two years, but lately around 1 year (that is bad). I hope I can use this phone for atleast 2 years. Xiaomi phones have good development community, so phone can have support for longer.

Community development strength

You're a power user. Can the Redmi Note 9 Pro keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Redmi Note 9 Pro. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Should we expect some community development for this after the Mediatek disaster if Redmi note 8?
I'm interested in this phone coming from OnePlus One and Redmi Note 4, I'm used to great ROM availability.
Xiaomi is releasing phones left and right there are already very few community developers and there a lot of devices to choose from. If this device gets famous then expect development otherwise forget about it. 2-4 roms unofficially supported and root and that is pretty much it.
planning to buy the phone...would be happy af if the development scene turns out to be good....previously i used legendary mido
It would be nice to use some great roms on this redmi note 9 pro, till now it's proving to be good for me
If there will be some development for this device it would be great....

When development will begin for redmi note 9 pro.....
given that the base variant is priced reasonably and the phone is quite good overall i think it has a great future other than last years redmi note 8 pro....
looking forward to some great roms :fingers-crossed:
Just ordered it yesterday, hopefully it will get better development in the future
This phone will have great community development strength, just as any Redmi Note series phone. And because it is a huge jump in performance compared to the previous models, it will be successful. It has great specs considering the price. The only problem now is that developping TWRP for devices coming with Android 10 out of the box will take some time (look at the OnePlus 7T series for example, and check TeamWin's annoucements). On a side note, the Xiaomi Mi 10 already has a working non-official TWRP. If you can be patient, you should not worry at all.
This phone just needs TWRP (unofficial is good enough),kernel source code from Xiaomi and Indians. Lots of them to be precise since the Note series is pretty much synonym with them. Where are my Indian bros? We need you here.
Just bought the Redmi Note 9S 128GB 6GB RAM, waiting for it to be delivered. No specific intention of changing the software for at least 12 months or so as I never think it's actually worth all the graft involved, by then, I hope this phone will have picked up traction and be more popular
Onwards and upwards.

May there will be a "MAX" version codename "joyeuse" for global market. A polish developer found this information in MIUI.
Due to this information I decided to return my brand new not unboxed global Redmi Note 9S.

Your choice. I'll believe it when I see it.
The JOYEUSE version will be most likely abandoned from xiaomi since they cannot keep up with devices lol, here is my github where i will making changes to the tree of the curtana model, there's a team of us working on it, i will be building and supporting EVO-x github.com/xiaomi-curtana enjoy Still waiting for my device to arrive tho, however at this point Xiaomi are quite unpredictable tho personally I just prefer the 9s and it was the discontinued cn device so will most likely get more updates

They do always the same
The global Redmi Note 9 Pro (+NFC, +30W charging, +64MP Main Camera Sensor Samsung GW2) will be released next monday(11.05.2020) in Malaysia at a starting price around 300€.
There will be three different Global RN9 by the middle of May:
- RN9: The low cost Mediatek Version. I am be sure many people will buy this one because of getting very low prices for a Redmi Note 9 (3GB/64GB) May it will be sold for 150€ with very less potential for custom ROM development.
- RN9Snapdragon: The one (6GB/128)GB I got and returned for 229€. Very nice one but without NFC.
- RN9 Pro: Nice peace of cake with some very useful improvements compared to RN9S. If this one is sold for 300€ and not under 250€(6GB/128GB) I will wait and watch the prices compared to global Mi Note 10 Lite Zoom.
Here is a nice review for the upcoming global Redmi Note 9 Pro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJHzRWbpPVY&t=635s
While waiting and also watching Custom ROM development I am using my old but gold Redmi Note 4 mido with LOS 17.1, I payed 140€ in 2017 for mido.
Just ordered the 6GB version on amazon, hope to receive it on monday. Really hope developers can make some ROMs to squeeze this phone for real, Official or Unnofficial I dont care
