i can't lock bootloader on my moto g5 plus after getting august security update.
some on tell if this is possible or not, also when i flashed stom i got gpt.bin error
even if i skipped gpt.bin, cmd shows still require signed image
It's a shame there isn't a way in which people could search a particular board to see if a question has been asked already.....

Im sure there has been a lot of discussion on this, but I am interested in experimenting a little on this issue and havent been able to find much through searching the forum.
What I have determined is that running "fastboot oem lock" asks to first disable the security before proceeding.
Running "fastboot getvar security" shows that the security variable is set to "on"
I'm assuming that the security is turned off by running a task command using "fastboot oem task(appropriate task number to disable security here)" the only issue is im not sure what the task number is for the nexus one and am too afraid to try some educated guesses for fear of bricking.
My thinking is that once the task number for disabling security is found, then we can run "fastboot oem lock" to re-lock the bootloader, then run the correct task number to re-enable security and done, phone is back in its original locked state. Am I over-simplifying this??? Would love to hear some thoughts.
Little searching and you can see that this question has been beaten to death, revived and beaten to death again and again...
Only those with the "Holiday" edition with the S-OFF on the bootloader can relock their N1's.
No one has been able to find a way around this with non-holiday editions (the retail version).
Forgive me if this has been covered already; I did my due diligence and found nadda regarding this. Anyhow, heres the observation: If you take a vk410 and flash that test 4.4.2 kdz to it, you can unlock the bootloader via the fastboot oem unlock command. Then, you can flash back to 5.0.2 lollipop vzw rom and retain the unlocked bootloader. HOWEVER, with fastboot apparently missing or disabled in 5.0.2, it seems impossible to properly test this. So, for sh**s and giggles, I did this, then flashed BACK to the test rom again so I could see the lock status @ the fastboot menu, and presto its still locked. What usefulness can be had from any of this? Probably nothing just thought I would share with ya'll heh
lk410
I was wondering the same question
I have the same tablet on at&t, with the lg logo on the top (at&t variant) and I used the test kdz to go back to 4.4.2.
Also, partition #33 (userdata) was labeled "grow" and I was missing 8 gigs of space. The bootloader on mine was not locked by default tho
1st off I've been on XDA for many years and this Sub-forum confuses the hell out of me. Threads are cluttered with talk over all the variants of the G4 which confused me on what I could do with my device. That being said here is my issue...
I just got a XT1625 G4 and proceeded to try to get the adds removed. Reading this thread. It failed so it said to unlock the bootloader via getting a key from Moto which they let me do and I am unlocked according to the boot screen warning and fastboot info reporting "flashing_unlocked".
I then ran the script again but the device was unable to boot and went straight into recovery with it reporting at the bottom "WE HAVE DETECTED AN ATTEMPT TO FLASH UNAUTHORIZED SW ON YOUR DEVICE. CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR ASSISTANCE." which I fixed by following this thread
Now reading more users say that this device can not have the bootloader unlocked (um mine is) and that amazon/moto have patched removing adds. Not sure what is true so I need some clarification.
Ideally I want to just flash a stock rom with no adds if possible and receive ota updates...can i?
OR remove the adds on the amz rom and get ots updates.
This phone is not for me so i dont want to have to fix it all the time. If this is not possible im going to send this amazon virus infected phone back....
I would honestly spring for the normal xt1625, you can even flash the nougat update on it since it's the xt1643 with a lower camera, no laser focus, and no fingerprint reader.
I got mine at best buy and did unlocks with no issues. It's definitely an Amazon thing. Like my old Moto g on Verizon I couldn't unlock.
Unfortunately I forgot to allow OEM unlocking ,now when I am trying to unlock the bootloader it says allow OEM unlocking from developer setting
But phone is already dead
Please help
I see that you posted in the other threads about trying to get your device working. I understand you're desperate, please try to post in one place so we can track your issue easier.
However, from the sounds of it you've hard-bricked? Did the blankflash work?
If you're still getting the security downgrade issue, the version of the stock ROM that you're using is too old. Flash the June 2017 or September 2017 stock ROM to get your device working. You can find the June 2017 stock ROM here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-hardbrick-solved-guide-t3657761 and the September 2017 stock ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
Once you've fully flashed either stock ROM, you should be able to toggle the OEM unlocking toggle.
Hi, I'm sorry if I'm being redundant. I've seen similar questions posted in this section but not about my specific problem.
My prepaid Verizon G4 Play started bootlooping a few days ago. I went through all the YouTube fixes I could find and have reached the point that I'd like to reflash stock images. It came with Android 6.0.1 and I OTA updated it to 7.1.1 within the past couple of months. I haven't finished paying the $75 ransom that Verizon wants to unlock it for me but I don't know if I should even need to unlock it in order to reflash 7.1.1 or try to revert it to 6.0.1.
I can't do anything with it at the Android level, since it won't boot all the way up. When I try to flash images from harpia_vzw_oem_vzw_user_7.1.1_NPI26.48-38_48_release-keys-cid2_vzw.tar.gz that I downloaded from mirrors.lolinet.com, the only one that succeeds is logo.bin. All the others I've tried have come back with "(bootloader) Preflash validation failed" errors.
Should this work if I get the phone unlocked? Can anyone explain why I can't flash these so-called stock images with the phone locked?
Thanks!
