LineageOS unofficial fork with built-in microG gapps implementation. Access all the Google services without proprietary closed software
Aim of this project is to provide a mature rom for android devices bundled with the free google apps implementation microG.
What is microG?
MicroG is an alternative to the Google Play Services found on nearly every Android device. It allows you to circumvent the need for Google’s proprietary software on your device while retaining nearly full functionality through open source software.
https://microg.org/
Daily builds - DOWNLOAD
Full Play Services compatibility
ROM has built-in microG free-as-in-freedom re-implementation of Google's proprietary Android user space apps and libraries.
This enables you to use every Google service you need without keeping another closed-source binary blob in your Android system.
Native F-Droid support
LineageOS for microG comes with F-Droid already installed. You can use it to access plenty of FOSS applications or even a Play Store bridge repository like Playmaker or GPlayWeb.
OTA updates
OTA updates from upstream LineageOS every day. In this way you always receive new features and security updates just few hours after they are released mainline.
Installation instructions
This ROM and Official LineageOS use different signing keys, so you can't flash our ROM on top of the official LineageOS; however, the procedure needed to migrate from the official LineageOS is very simple.
If you don't care about losing your current data just reboot into recovery, wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik and, without rebooting, install LineageOS for microG.
If migrating from another ROM, do a completely fresh install
Post-install
1. Install a UnifiedNLP location- and address lookup backend. Search in F-Droid for 'nlp'. I recommend MozillaNlpBackend and NominatimNlpBackend.
2. Grant signature spoofing permission to 'microG Services Core' and 'FakeStore': Settings -> Apps -> ⚙ (gear) --> App permissions -> Spoof package signature -> 3 dots (tripple colon) -> Show System
3. Enable Google device registration, Enable Google Cloud Messaging, enable Google Safety Net (if not rooted)
4. Open microG Settings -> Self-Check -> Tap everything is missing. It might ask you to do some settings.
Some recommnded free app substitutions (F-Droid):
-Google Play Store -> YalpStore
-Google Contact Sync -> DAVdroid
-Facebook -> SlimSocial for Facebook
-Twitter -> SlimSocial for Twitter
-YouTube -> NewPipe

Could you please build a stock version of the LOS ROM (without microG implementation, etc) so we can use it in combo with Open GApps?
The other thread with LineageOS 15 builds for OP3/3T hasn't been updated in more than one month
Thanks a lot in advance

Why are you talking about LineageOS 15 on a LineageOS 14.1 based ROM ?
Go download official LineageOS 14.1 or Customs one (Sultan's one for example).
Plus, this site is not a market.
Grab sources, or if you can't build, wait for devs to build.
But stop begging like this, please.

Yes, can be done here:

just to be clear, this is just flash and fire? no need to install microg components like play services, app store etc?

This is not exactly correct, right? Looking at https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/wiki/Implementation-Status, the implemented APIs are not even 25% of Google's.
Don't get me wrong, I'm following this project for some time, but it still lacks some important APIs like e.g. Cast.

I guess you could set microg to proxy this.
Though I'm at a loss as to why you would want it; microg is designed around the idea of getting rid of Google.
For contacts I have a nextcloud instance, and I use DAVDroid to sync my devices.
im just trying to use davdroid to sync my contacts but it says no cal or cav something detected

OctOs for OP3 is a WIP. I am not a qualified dev, don´t expect it as bug-free! It has been evaluated as being stable enough to release and i find it suitable for daily use in most cases. While it may be considered stable enough, there may be unknown bugs. The development team nor me is not responsible for any damage to your device or your information.
Team OctOs presents Oct-M.
We maintain a current release record and change-log on our website: http://www.teamoctos.com

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 6 (Marshmallow)?
A: Yes, this is Android 6.0.1
Q: What code is Oct-M based on?
A: Starting with Oct-L, we've rebased OctOs on the CyanogenMod 12 code. Oct-M is based on CyanogenMod 13.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: All Android code is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Under previous releases, we tried very hard to limit the number of "Not from Google directly" repositories that we used. Unfortunately, issues with devices, the need for Code Aurora Foundation (CAF) repositories for Qualcomm devices, and compatibility issues meant fighting code more often than not. We decided that since the code-base for many repositories were the same across most ROMs, picking a starting point to build the user experience on outweighed the desire to craft code from scratch, or fix broken code to make it work with other changes we already had.
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But XYZ and all the others have..
A: ROM developers build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-M.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.

Install Instructions:
Download ROM and MD5 file, and grab your favourite gapps package
Reboot to Recovery
(Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - They do not support flashing on CWM ---
Factory Reset from TWRP
Flash ROM and GApps
mount System
look for /system/priv-app/SetupWizard and delete it
--- sorry for this! it seems like that setup wizard is going to hang up and mess up tings!---
Reboot
* ROM Download
* MD5
Code:
585041059189b4acf5591c8f23e756fd
The Oct-M ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /data/dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your GApps Provider
The foundation of the Android OS is the fact that is it open-source. All code used internally in the creation of Oct-M is available on GitHub repositories. ATM those little changes made to this code to mek Oneplus 3 build isn´t available. But it depends on CyanogenMod device tree. Ef the progress is ongoing i will mek my little code available too
Unless otherwise specified, all Oct-M builds use the device's stock kernel.

Setup went fine here, which gapps did u use?
U can try this ...
flashing both octos and opengapps in the same pass in TWRP mount System then delete?*/system/priv-app/SetupWizard ... Reboot System
Now you have to go into settings to configure your Google Account, but its not a big deal, and you won't even have to do that if you are just flashing a new NIGHTLY.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 8.1 (Oreo), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Obviously not a lot has been ported to Lineage so please don't report issues like: "broken buttons backlight". That will be ported over soon (TM).
Also you need custom TWRP build to install these packages, you can find link in the OP.
BTW: You might have to force reboot after the gapps installation is complete as the unofficial installer is bit buggy ( you can do that by holding power, vol down ). Also it doesn't support addon.d so it doesn't persist when updating to next builds.
BRUH! <3
Oh my god thx you so much !!! ?
In call voice is coming from bottom speaker and not from ear piece, volume is pretty low.
Google sign-in stuck on Checking info...
FC on Google Play services on boot
Magisk is working
Can't side load apps. Settings>Apps and Notifications>Special App Access But can be pushed through adb. -_-
Thanks for making this ROM super fast!
Cheers!
The changelog link is wrong. It should be "15" instead of "15.0". And TWRP link says no mirrors found.

You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

Device tree source code: RedmiDevs/android_device_xiaomi_msm8937-common
Kernel source code: RedmiDevs/android_kernel_xiaomi_msm8937
Broken:
WIFI MAC address gets randomly generated (only once, you will keep the same as long as you are on LOS)
Sepolicy is still permissive
Nothing else? Otherwise please report it!
Working:
Camera (and flashlight)
WiFi
Bluetooth
Telephony (Calls and Data)
Audio (Record and Playback)
Video Playback
Sensors
GPS
VoLTE
Compatibility:
Compatible with all Xiaomi Redmi 4A and Redmi 5A variants (16GB / 32GB), other Redmi devices are not supported.
Builds are based off the Xiaomi's Android 7.1 firmware with proprietary blobs from MIUI 8.3.29 dev package.
Downloads:
Unofficial download links
Notice:
No custom kernels are supported in this thread. Only stock kernel and official builds will be supported. No bug reports if that's not the case.
Installation:
Reboot to recovery (Custom TWRP recovery for Redmi 5A - Direct link)
Format /system, /data and /cache
Install LineageOS zip package
Install [optional] the LineageOS su addon to get root (there are obviously other root methods, but this is the recommended one as it survives to OTA updates)
Install [optional] a Google Apps package of your choice (Open GApps is advisable, but stock and super variants are not recommended!!!)
Important notes:
Current minimal * required * firmware version is MIUI 8.3.29 Global dev, otherwise installation could have issues. Download the latest dev fastboot package directly from Xiaomi and flash it prior to installing LineageOS or, alternatively, download and install one of the latest custom packages containing firmware only (at your own risk).
GApps can only be flashed on clean installs.
Formatting data (all user data is wiped, including internal storage) is a must if MIUI was previously installed and device was encrypted.
Credits & collaborations:
This work is due to efforts from RedmiDevs founding members that did the full device bring-up. Huge thanks to @xboxfanj for all the help during that bring-up.
Finally, all RedmiDevs & LineageOS team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!

is it safe ? tested on Riva ? any other bugs ?
Can we flash this while using a custom rom or do we have to revert to miui 8.3+ global before flashing?. I'm currently using crdroid oreo build. Thought i might give this a try since it's having root problems as of now.

If you already use any Oreo build or custom rom based on Nougat, this one should be fine if you just do a clean install
Insane! I remember several months ago where Treble was (said to be) locked and accessible only for certain devices. XDA devs (like yourself) proved them wrong. Then again it makes sense that Treble could reach devices like Xiaomi, which apparently have spare unusable partitions that could be transformed into a vendor partition. It doesn't matter if devices like 5A or 4A are A-only devices, what matters is budget phones like ours won't lose cream of the crop features that Android offers, we won't be stuck with half-baked OEM ROMs that some (or most of the time) disappoints us users with crippled updates or even worse, updates with super worse stability. Kudos to you @33bca !
Have anyone tried it yet???
Thanks for the development.

Yeah, I always test my builds before pushing them to XDA, I never release broken roms
(I've already answered this question above, so check the previous posts first...)
I have tested it everything works fine and smooth.
But there's these bugs.
1.there's a click sound from the speaker coming before every sound
2. its not really a bug as you mentioned in your post about the WiFi Mac address changing. Most of the people won't even notice it but I am having problems, you see the WiFi I use does require Mac address to be connected to the device and that's why I am not able to connect to the WiFi, though I can just tell the owner to add my new Mac address in the system, but I change ROMs very often so I would have to ask them so many times,(I tried to change the Mac address it don't work) it would be really helpful if you could fix it and make it keep the original mac address. Thanks.
I'm coming back sir !, sems the problem is same with crdroid oreo build
sometimes audio like 'bump', its wierd sound when sometimes audio start
Big thanks for developing this device sir, really appreciate it
Wanna ask, how to use the Google camera mod in this rom? Cz i already try some apk's, but no one working, i already enable camera2api, use magisk, no one works, any idea sir?
what is so called “clean install”?
and
can we update it via OTA?
thx!
the rom is very good, but it has two bugs:
- weird click sounds (something like sound distortion)
- GPS icon is always showing on the notification bar
could you also implement mpdecision for better battery life?
will this work for ugglite??

Pretty much no, because the vendor and boot is purely for riva-rolex. Sorry about this.

I don't have issues with GPS Icon always showing on notif bar/status bar. Maybe it's because I've added Gravity Box (O).. But I think I never had that issues since first boot.
Hi, thanks for the rom and unifiing.
About the MAC Adress problem i recall a similar problem on the oneplus 2, maybe there lies an easy fix there.

Yes you can, but you have to search for the Oreo version, it's not on Magisk Repo and no old dolby atmos flasher would work. But you can't use it side to side with other Audio mods.

NIGHTLY: Built daily with newest code and experimental features, might contain undiscovered bugs. (Deodexded builds)
HISTORY: Final odexded builds once a newer Android version is out and being built.
EXPERIMENTAL: Released when a new device is added or when a new feature is added for public beta testing and feedback. (Deodexded builds)
UNOFFICIAL: Maintained separately by individual developers, usually involves modification of shared code which cannot be merged (affects other devices), therefore maintained by the developer himself.

When will the oreo?
Can't install it, it complains about wrong base firmware. I tried downgrading to both MIUI Global Stable 7.1 and Global Dev 7.1 basebands, but the ROM still won't install. Does it expect China baseband instead of Global?

Unfortunately, I really don't like much what I see... it's just plain Lineage with a fancy launcher (Lawnchair, I guess), and Substratum and Xposed pre-installed (but no root for Xposed, wtf - and since Xposed is pre-installed it's probably not possible to use Xposed Systemless with Magisk, which I would much prefer). Also, some of Lineage's stock features seem to be removed, for no real reason (like the dark system theme). Correct me if I'm wrong, I might have missed the dark theme setting somewhere.
Also, there's a system app that wants you to pay for OTA updates, via Paypal or some China payment system. That system app also spams ads... no thanks. I rather use real Lineage and install Substratum and proper systemless Xposed myself. If only someone would make Lineage or Omni official, instead of these weirdo ROMs...

like i said, its a base rom you usually use to create another rom from it like Lineage OS, but not like Lineage OS, it is more like pure AOSP plus some feature with stability and performance in mind, try to download another version without Xposed since it's uploaded Everyday... .
For OTA, you can download The OTA from their website for free without downloading the full ROM and just do dirty flash to update...

it's still nightly tho and it's released every night automatically by the server even if the developer didn't make any change to the rom...
i think we should wait for the "release" version which is released after everything is checked and stable.

It has Lineage (or rather, Cyanogenmod) Privacy Guard, and asks to enable it in the first startup screens, just like Lineage. It might be that they just cherry-picked that from Lineage, and the rest is derived from AOSP. It's hard to say, since Lineage is very close to stock AOSP anyways, at least on the surface.
