So I had my s7 edge completely naked for a while with just a dbrand skin (stupid, I know). I eventually dropped it and after a horrible two-week process I finally have it back and fixed. I've been looking at cases and screen protectors, but the reviews are so biased it's hard to tell what's good. Currently, I'm looking at a case from "carved" (it's my first post so I can't post their link). They're very stylish but have no bumper over the screen so I will definitely need a screen protector. Obviously, tempered glass is best but there seem to be no good covers in that regard. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear what you're using on your s7 edge (both cases and screen protectors)!
I use a stilgut ultra thin flip case, I tried a plain tpu screen protector and i consider myself an expert at installation for those things and the weird corners would pull up and even 1 edge i didnt want any dirt getting under it so i use the flip case that covers the bare screen without protector.

Several drops about 5 or 6 times mostly on ceramic surface and there is no damage what so ever to the phone nor the case.
I've just come from an S4 to an S7. I'm used to tempered glass protectors, because they're super easy to apply and give the feeling of a premium screen + that added protection. However, I was unable to find a decent tempered glass screen for the edge. The first one didn't fit properly, and left ridges which made the edge panel unpleasant to use. The second one was too thick, and the edges were being caught by my plastic Spigen case. The third felt fragile when applying it and cracked within a few days of just being in my pocket. All of the other ones were basically square and therefore the edges weren't covered at all. I gave up at that point.
I didn't want a PET film screen. I've used them for years, going all the way back to a 5800 XpressMusic, also on my S1 and my Nexus 4, and usually with horrific results. They scratch easily, they lift easily, they never tend to sit right which means you get dust patches in the corners and their light output is usually awful, especially the gloss ones. Give them a few months, and the light output will be unbearable due to the amount of scratches..
Step foward.... TPU Screen Protectors There's a guy selling two for £2.45 on eBay delivered. These things are a bloody revelation to me, I'd never heard of them until I got this phone. I can't believe people are persevering with the tempered glass screens for the Edge. These babies really are the way forward for this phone. The TPU is basically elastic which means it covers the edges perfectly, and it is thin enough not to be caught or interfered with by my case. Supposedly, the TPU is self-healing: basically light and medium scratches effectively disappear thanks to the elasticity of the plastic filling in the gaps, and I can see what they mean. A normal PET Protector for me, would usually be scratched all over by now, yet this TPU protector, you really wouldn't know that it was applied at all. It's completely spotless. No bubbles either which I've only ever achieved with tempered glass protectors. In fact, the only way you can tell this protector is applied at all, is because you can see the pre-cut holes for the camera and sensors at the top. Check out the light output too!!! The only thing that comes close is a tempered glass protector, and I would even go as far as saying this TPU one might even be better!!! (because it has less light reflection)
Tempered glass protectors maybe the hot fashion at the moment, but honestly, I don't think you can go far wrong with the TPU ones for this phone. I am aware that tempered glass protectors give a layer of impact protection too, but that's for you to decide. How many times have you smashed your screen etc? Do you really need that impact protection? If you do, would a standard TPU case be enough, or is the glass protector important....

The process that I went through to get my phone fixed took so long and was so horrible that I REALLY dont want to break it again and I want to make sure I have good protection. The TPU protectors look pretty cool though, and ill look for some!

I can explain this to you in full.
That's because most of us had used those TPU screen protectors for several years before the tempered glass screen protectors came out and the tempered glass screen protectors are a giant leap forward over TPU/film/wet application style screen protectors. This was before we were forced into curved edge screens. You see, before the large screen devices were basically only the Samsung Note series which all had very large screens that were flat and tempered glass screen protectors were absolutely the best option, especially using the S Pen, the TPU protectors are rubbery and there are indentations and marks left on them that doesn't happen on glass. Additionally if you ever drop your phone on it's screen with the TPU/film type protectors your screen is still trashed. I have personally had multiple phones with tempered glass screen protectors that had the protector shattered but the screen underneath was left pristine. Also the responsiveness and accuracy of the pressure sensitive spen functionality just is horrible with a film type screen protector but is perfect with glass.
With the Note 5, S6 Edge Plus people could still get a 5.5" + screen with the compatibility of a tempered glass screen protector.
Fast forward and suddenly Samsung decided that to get a 5.5-5.7 inch screen you must also get a curved edge screen starting with the S7 Edge/Note 7. So now everyone is looking for the superior look/feel/protection of the tempered glass screen protector and none of the manufacturers seem to be able to produce one that actually fits, adheres correctly and stays put without allowing dust and crap underneath them. None of them work well which is why this and many other threads like it exist. Nobody is debating the superiority of the tempered glass over the TPU screen protectors. Tempered glass is simply better in all regards. The fact you just now suddenly found a TPU screen protector and have fallen in love with it and can't figure out why we haven't all just done that is not a new paradigm. You simply missed out on years of crappy TPU screen protectors to put into perspective just how much better glass is, because getting one to fit properly was never an issue prior to 2016.
Welcome to the past. Don't drop that phone on it's screen. You'll be peeling your TPU screen protector up to reveal a smashed screen and then be like the rest of us......angry that large screen device manufacturers like Samsung have fallen in love with a mostly gimmicky non-functional curved edge screen in exchange for being robust and functionally sound.

Wow, that's some reply lol. A few things though:
-I think you're asserting that TPU protectors were the norm before Tempered Glass protectors. They weren't, certainly not in my experience. Everyone and their dog were using PET film protectors before tempered glass ones came out. I'd say those who used TPU were probably in the minority really. Tempered Glass protectors are of course the best option, but quite evidently, we're struggling to find ones that actually fit nicely.
-I am very happy with tempered glass protectors that fit, but ultimately, the ones I bought don't. I've settled for a TPU protector because it actually looks nice and feels fine.
-Dropping your phone doesn't always result in a smashed screen. If you've got a case on it, you might be lucky. I dropped my phone many a time with a PET film and it survived. That's the case for you.
Nobody forced you to buy a Samsung Edge phone dude? The standard S7 is not curved and is considered by some to be a better phone than the Edge. Or you could have had an LG G5 or the Pixel phone? Sounds like you're suffering a bit of buyers remorse here. Get an S7 and your glass protector then be happy
@skezza, fast forward 4 1/2 months, and I'm curious how your TPU screen protector is holding up. I just got an S7 Edge, and so I'm in the market for a good screen protector. Right now, Armorsuit's "self healing" TPU protectors are going for under $8, so even if it only lasts a few months, that's not a bad deal.

So just to be clear, you decided to hop on a thread about screen protectors, basically call everyone foolish for wanting impact protection, and then suggest that we get a different phone? What?!?
Most of us chose the S7 edge because of the many hardware advantages over other phones. The curved screen was something we were willing to put up with because the hardware was so great. It's not crazy to want a tempered glass cover (which protects from scratches AND impact) to get full protection for our $500+ phone. If you've figured out a way to ensure your phone never lands on its face, then congratulations.
So, getting "an S7 and your glass protector then be happy" is not a solution. It's an asinine, unhelpful answer that doesn't provide a real solution.

Lol. I think I'll just leave this. You're clearly missing the point.
Just to add, I decided to have a look at my second TPU protector today and found the adhesive was not very sticky anymore. I wonder if these things have a shelf life?
Edit: The old fashioned fairy liquid trick didn't bring it back to life either, although it has reduced some bubbles.

Tempered glass?
Anyone here use the phone naked ( without the case ) or at lease with full body film protector? I am thinking to go case less because it adds weight and takes away the natural design/feel of the phone.
I use the phone with a slim case but to date I have not been able to find a screen protector that works. I am finding the tempered glass is far from perfect and leaves a very small pocket of space between it and the glass making me have to press harder in some areas to get the screen to respond. I hate to do it but I think I will have to use my S8 with no screen protector until someone can come up with a tempered glass protector that has glue all over instead of just around the edges.
I'm running an IQ Shield full skin. Fitment is spot on. It's got Front, back and all the sides covered.
Whitestone Dome Glass is a glass protector with adhesive all around. It's a complex process to apply, but if you get it right, it works. I have one here, but I haven't applied it. The glass is case friendly and covers slightly less that a full screen. I may use it at some point, though.
I generally always use phones naked out of appreciation for the design.
Too bad there's still no tempered glass protectors for curved screens so it's kinda risky..
Currently using naked and I find my finger gets sore from holding at bottom of phone by using one handed from the usb port so will be putting my case on soon for comfort.
I have spent quite some time researching if anyone has reviewed screen protectors or tempered glass protectors for use with the S-Pen and found nothing so far.I have tried two brands of screen protectors so far and both of them had the same issue with the S-pen.
The S-pen functionally works but for drawing or writing it "squeaks" on the surface of the screen protector or tempered glass.
As an artist it frustrates me that most reviewers just center on topics such as "does the s-pen work" Of course it does. Or "how hard is this tempered glass". But I have seen none of them actually using the s-pen to draw and comment on if it was actually usable. The feeling of writing or drawing is analogous to walking on a shiny wooden basketball court with rubber shoes.... The S-pen squeaks! It's barely noticeable on just small actions.. but VERY noticeable when drawing.
1. I KNOW that there exists a tempered glass protector that doesn't squeak. I have tested my s-pen on the surface of my mobile phone with a certain brand of tempered glass (colorful glass brand) and it glides with no issue. The problem is this "colorful glass" brand is, uncommon, generic and not easily found.
2. I'd like an artist or writer recommendation of a screen protector or tempered glass. If you use your spen regularly but does not draw with it often, I respect your opinion but please do not be offended if I doubt you because as I mentioned at the top for the "normal" itsy-bitsy spen uses most screen protectors work fine. But for artists we need that long uninterrupted strokes where the s-pen NEEDS to glide through the surface and not "squeak"

The "XunyLyee" brand I use (literally the cheapest I could find with decent reviews and "smooth" edges) is practically silent with the stock pen tip. (I mostly use the pen for sketching technical diagrams.) I would not expect glass screen protectors to differ by much. Perhaps try using it in touchscreen mode for a while and see if the oils from your fingers helps to quiet down the tip? I also assume you disabled the option to give audio feedback when writing?
