You would need a rooted phone to do so, this phone and most other Samsung phones do not have the feature to use SD card as internal storage. You could still move some apps to SD card, they have an option in the app info but its a part of the app in the SD card.

If you have a newer stock-rom (2.2.1, JPY,JS5) you can put some apps from the system memory to the internal sd (System/Application/Manage Application). The errormsg is because you run low of system memory.
bye
sorry but im really confuse i got this
External SD
total: 7.41Gb
available: 6.33gb
Internal SD
total:5.78gb
available: 5.70gb
then there is this internal phone storage

When i remember correctly is the internal sd some sort of extra memory for your phone. On the internal phone memory is the android system and space for some apps.
It is not possible to merge the mem. You can free mem when you put the apps from the internal phone mem to the internal sd.
bye
ah so it means that when u transfer the installed apps on sd it goes on internal sd not external sd one?

So apparently since the android Jelly Bean update you can no longer move apps from the internal sd card to the external sd card. BULL**** (forgive my french) this is ridiculous why would they get rid of that feature? The 16gb s4 actually only has roughly 9ish gigs. That's not enough space if you download the big games nowadays. Has anybody found a workaround for this? Unfortunately you can't even use the app2sd app. I have a 32gb sd card waiting to be filled with apps so if anybody knows a workaround I would really appreciate the help! Also I would prefer not to have to root my phone.
*I have the At&t Samsung Galaxy S4 16gb model*
Download gl to SD from play store, you can move any data to external SD, just follow the directions.

Sadly I dont think rooting can even help... the sd slot just seems like they added it so people would buy the phone atleast thats why I got this in stead of the iphone..
DirectoryBind

Here's the app that you need. Move any data to external_sd.
DirectoryBind - move data to external_sd (GameLoft, Shadowgun etc.) ROOT req.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410262
EDIT: OOPS!!! DirectoryBind doesn't work on 4.2.2
(I'm still using it on my S2 w/Gingerbread. Waiting on the 32gb or 64gb S4.)
Have to use this instead:
[APP][ROOT] FolderMount - Link folders from internal SD to external to free space

Thats because they're installed to it automatically. Before when you moved to sd the apps moved from inernal to internal sd card, which is where apps installed on the s4. Ext-sd is your memory card you insert on back of phone. Stock app manager has never been able to move apps to ext-sd only sd card. Titanium back up and other apps can though. So remeber if you inserted a sd card in back you have three storage places. Internal, internal sd, ext-sd. Apps install to the 16 gig automatically on the s4.

OK, I'm not a full-on geek (e.g. I do not want to root my device), still I'm pretty savvy, but I don't understand what you've said here.
I just updated from a Samsung Stratosphere (Android 2.3.6) to Stratosphere 2 (4.1.2), so I'm now acclimating to JellyBean.
I moved my SD card from the Strat to the Strat 2 and can see in the File Manager the sdcard0 and the exSdCard.
You are saying that in addition to my inserting an actual, physical SD card, there is both internal storage and additional built-in storage (sdcard0)?
Three separate storage areas?
The "main" internal is for the OS?
The built-in SD is for apps?
And my additional external SD is for data (e.g. video, music, etc.?)
I'm confused because, while the phone is still zipping along smoothly, Settings/Storage is telling me that, in 24 hours, I've already gobbled up 4.3 GB of my 8 GB device memory, > 3 GB of this being "miscellaneous" files.
Meanwhile, my application mgr tells me I have used 1.1 GB with 3.7 GB remaining.
Mind you, I am not a heavy app user (e.g. Evernote, my bank's app, NY Times, Dropbox, a few simple games), so what took a 3 GB chomp of my internal memory. For the life of me, I can't remember how I did it, but I did move all "consumer" data (e.g. documents, video, photos, etc.) to be stored on the extSD but, in 24 hours, I don't have that much to store.
Bottom line, are we non-rooters slaves to the internal (SD?) memory for our apps?
The new update gives functionality of transferring apps to sd card but when I transfer an app to SD it remains in internal memory and there is no change to my external memory card. Can anyone tell me where does it exactly go and what actually happens when i move my app to sd??

Well app to sd card option moves the apk u installed in the SD card but it keeps the data in internal memory only.. so incase u take the memory card out u cannot run the application and its done this way so that u can free up some space in ur internal memory for other use etc
What is bigger, the APK or data?
u can use terminal or folder mount to link that data in external sdcard to phones memory! so phone thinks its on phones but its on sd! btw u may experiance lag or slow loading and stuff! havent tryed my self i got no space problem on 8gb version i just bought it im currently downloading more games! like rapid gt and others
also try to save some space whit moving everything to sd expect game data!

Most of the time its data that is big
example Need for speed is abt 13 mb app size and the data we need to download is abt 600 mb and after its extracted its abt 1.6 gb
I already use pro version of Folder mount but i just had a doubt that samsung is providing the old method of moving apps to sd again but still i see no diff in my internal storage as i have already moved many internal apps to sd using the new function but still i see my ext sd is empty and the apk remains in int memory only ......

Yes data of the app remains in the internal memory card only just to verify u just take the memory card and see those app will ask for car to be inserted
and ya since only the apps are mvng and it may be small in size u dont see may not notice the change in internal memory available
I have added a 32gb SD Card but I can't even update applications as the rom is too low 8GB I believe. And it's occupied by os mostly. I moved all the apps to sd card but still the apps don't get moved completely from internal storage. And after update the apps get back to internal storage.
How do I get rid of this annoying problem!!?
Try factory resetting, maybe its a bug

So this doesn't happen to anyone else?
Also I noticed when I move app to sd card it doesn't completely move it. say a 222mb app after moving to sd card, it shows 167mb on device storage and 2xx on sd card!
I had that problem.. I partitioned my sd card, I downloaded link2sd plus and I was able to move the whole app to sd card, it's better to use the option link to sd card rather then the option move to sd card, your apps run properly when you link instead of move.. I also installed a custom rom , Igot memory for days

Yes, you cant completely move all app data on sd card. Try link2sd if it works
Storage problem solved for galaxy grand prime plus or other low storages devices
Hi,
This tutorial for those who want to increase storge.
After marshmallow update samsung stops adoptable storage.
But there is one way to enable adoptable storage again.
Guide:
Root your device.
Install Twrp recivery.
Download root essential from playstore
Open the app and select storage.
Now click on adoptable storage and the click on adopt.
Now download ASPlugin.zip from google.
Now flash the zip file from the Flasher given in root essential.
All Done.
Now you can use sd card as adoptable storage in settings.
