Hi all
There are so many models. My reasearch suggests that all are the same hardware. So if i get a canadian model 950w8 i should be able to flash anything. Is that true? Or should i consoder paying more for international version 950f?
Thanks for your input

W is Snapdragon, which I have, and you can't flash any ROMs. Get an f version without a locked bootloader
Thanks for saving me! I completely thought w8 was not snapdragon! Much appreciated.

No problem! The s7 edge I had was Exynos which had tons of development. Not being able to root is strange for me.
Also have exynos (ok, where I live there is only exynos) but I dont regret to not buying the snapdragon. I also think the exynos has better battery life than snapdragon

I would prefer to be without a contract, I'm okay being without LTE in the USA, would like international usability, and am confused about all these different variants in model numbers, processor types, and versions (e.g. Google edition, Active edition, etc...). Thanks!

Go for I9506.I think is the best.I own this phone and is better than I9505.But if you are looking for any custom rom you will not find anyhing for it(yet) only root and a few mods compatible from I9505.But overall is way better than i9505.The Snapdragon 800(2,3 Ghz and Adreno 330) does his job very well.And....there is no official android 4.3 for it.Just 4.2.2.I9506 rocks the benchmarks. In Antutu(stok ROM,stock Kernel) it scores around 35000 pts.
none , don t purchase an s4 , if u really want a Samsung device the s5 is coming soon , also concerning international usability with regional lock Samsung is not a good option
If you're considering a Google play edition device, you're better off with the nexus 5

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm looking into this. What carrier are you using; any plan suggestions? (I'm not too eager to sign a contract)

Has the S5 been announced? Doesn't Samsung usually release new year flagship phones in March/April? I'll need one much sooner than that.
Also, what's the problem with international use on a GS4? I think I remember reading that International GS4s in the USA don't have 4G use, and USA GS4s don't work well in other countries. If I get a rootable GS4, would this resolve this concern?
Thanks again for the help guys!
Hi,
Not wanting to start a flame war.....
Has anybody got both the Snap dragon & the Exynos Note 4.
I recently got the Exynos & was thinking do I need the SD version. Was about to sell the SD but really not sure if that's a good idea. Should I keep both, Do I need both?
Does anyone else have both versions?
Thoughts?

keep the Exynos, sell the snapdragon.
keep both , you can do lots of experiment with those
Normally, snapdragon variants has more development. But this time it seems like exynos has more development than SD. Both are good. So if you are a flashaholic, just visit the both exynos and SD development pages and make your choice. Personally, i have exynos one and i'm really pleased with it..

Thanks for that.
I did root n flash the SD version but really didn't find it a revelation.
I have now sold on the SD version.
I hunted down the Exynos version for the Wolfson dac. So happy for now with the Note 4 on 5.1.1.
Maybe the Note 5 next.......

Many Note 5 roms are coming, so you may not need to buy note 5 after all And also, 5.1.1 update improved n4 a lot, it's much faster and battery efficient now..
So, I'm in the market for a new phone, and I'm looking at getting the s5! But here in India, only the exynos variant is available.
I just want to know if there are any community support for the Exynos variant(g900h). I pretty much completely hate touch wiz, any aosp builds or cm builds? If none is there, is there atleast a viable rooting method?
Shameless self bump!
Bumping one last time before i buy some other phone!
Forgive me if this has been beaten to death so if there's already an open thread please redirect me. I just need to know officially whether or not this model can be rooted as I'm having next to no luck google searching about it. Most threads are either 3 years old or pertain only to China s8 G955 etc models, but my understanding so far is the Snapdragon US model is unrootable. Just need to confirm this, and if so why is Samsung so frickin lame preventing this and getting rid of all the exploits? Any why is it ONLY this Galaxy model? I checked a list of rootable models and it just skips from the S7 to S9. I'm a bit salty about it. It's a great phone and would love to do more with it. Please advise, and if anyone knows of any cool alternatives/workarounds I'd very much like to know.
Thanks,

A u model is the easiest i guess still kinda having issues with all of them. I would look for a diffrent device for rooting not much we can do other than a few mods and audio. A few root apps. No major major roms no twrp

which manufacturers are the best for the unlocked bootloaders? This ****ing sucks! When I was doing my GS5 it was beginnning to get tricky with Samsung and Motorola was the worst, now it seems like they are all doing it. It's also not clear where I can get the international versions or even their model numbers online, if they are unlocked bootloaders or the same wavelengths (GSM etc)
