Just wondering if anyone has got the Barclays banking app to work on any custom Rom. I have tried nearly all of them and even the ones that are not rooted don't work.

I know that barclays used to crash if it detected root at all. I'm rooted using Magisk and if I add barclays to Magisk Hide, it opens for me. Don't have an account with them to test login but it's better than nothing. Also make sure you pass safetynet before you open it and clear app data before launching for first time

Worked for me to on my OPO
So when you say it worked for you do you mean you can get past the start screen, because I get the start screen but no further.

Hi.
I am also interested in the steps to get this app working on my phone as I have been unable to get past the start screen for a couple of months however it would be really helpful to have access to this app and it's features .

Don't use it no more but what I've done is had systemless root (magisk) then install the app that you want t hide, prior to opening it, click magisk, go to settings and show magisk hide, then check the box next to the application you want to hide.
Then start your app for the first time.

Not sure then mate. Must have been patched
What about temp unrooting? Yours be surprised how little you need root? Cant think of any other way.
At the moment I just use the mobile website.
Or there may be an older version of the app not susceptible to root checking or the methods the newer version of the app uses, I know my old bank Lloyd's did this. Old version worked perfectly.
Have you got xposed on your phone?

You have to go to SuperSu and unroot from there.
Setttings > Full Unroot > Continue.
Wait for it to prompt you to reboot and you're done
SuperSU issue
So... the root worked fine. I checked with Root Checker, and it's all good in the 'hood. HOWEVER, when I installed SuperSU, it tells me that the "Installation Failed"... second "however", though, is that when I run an app requiring elevated permissions, SuperSU pops up just like it should, and everything works. Very curious.

It's a known issue, as long as you have SuperSU popping up asking for permissions and your root checker shows green, I wouldn't worry. It happened to the wife's S5, and that was 3 months ago, and she's still rooted.
You could also try and re-dl the latest, I believe 2.01, in the playstore and see if that helps if you are that worried about it.

Question: can I uninstall after rooting and keep root? Google keeps warning me about it.

Yes. Once rooted, the app doesn't have to be installed.
I'm not interested in trying to use Android Pay on a rooted device, but would like to use DirecTV Now and Netflix if they check for root. I know DirecTV Now does not work. I tried the app to hide root with no success. Is the only other option to try to go the suhide route? I don't really need root, but I had to add a line to my build.prop to enable hot spot. I would remove root if it meant I didn't have to restore my device losing the build.prop changes.

lol... it is that easy. Open the SuperSU app and go to settings, there is an option for Full Unroot, let it do it's thing and reboot and your good to go.
As always, backup in TWRP first, just in case.
Install Magisk.... I used it to get Android Pay working. There is a Hide Su feature.

I have my original backup before the root. Technically I don't understand how you can make changes to the OS or whatever then remove root on the stock OS.

Flashing Magisk and then installing Magisk Manager was super simple and clean. Magisk's SU option seems to work perfectly find for everything. Tasker has had a little bit of an issue, but its easy to remedy.

I removed root, hotspot still works, and DirecTV Now also works. Now if the DirecTV Now developers would fix the app to autohide onscreen buttons like it used to I'd be all set. At least the Pure's display isn't AMOLED so I don't have to worry about burn-in.
Android and the XDA community are a beautiful thing...lol. Magisk looks great. I will read up on it.

Hmm... I was planning on re-rooting soon, perhaps I will do it with Magisk and update my root tutorial.
I was prepping myself to give up root, especially with some of the newer DNS based ad blockers (not requiring root), the ability to get Android Pay working, etc... but as soon as I saw Magisk, it sort of solved all the problems and meant there really isn't anything you need to be unrooted for that you can't do rooted.

Can you give me an example of one of the newer DNS ad blockers you're using? Other than installing the modified YouTube apk to get rid of ads on that app it's the only thing missing that I want to do. Block ads across the device. Last program I used was adblock on the G Flex 2. Seemed to work well without breaking anything, but I was rooted.

DNS66. Works system wide by redirecting DNS traffic to a VPN that filters out advertisers. It uses some of the same published lists as adaway. I installed it on my kids unrooted moto G4. No complaints, seems to be working as expected with minimal overhead, and no root required.

AdGuard is very good....And I've tried BlockThis which isnt bad. Arter97 patches the YouTube app to remove ads. You can find that on XDA
DNS66 works very well and light on resources. I used it up until I rooted my phone. I have installed it on my wife's phone (she won't let me root) and she loves it. Best part: it's open source and free.

Try the option "hide magisk manager" in app settings (version 14.5) and see if it works.

Ok, then they have a new method to detect root and there's nothing you can do right now, except waiting for a new Magisk Hide version. Its always a cat-and-mouse game.

Uninstall Magisk and Login with Snapchat!! Then Install Magisk again ...after doing that make sure to perform a titanium backup of any Snapchat version you are on !! Generally this problem of your login has temporarily failed doesn't arise unless u have xposed installed ... Anyways u can then use ur Titanium Backup to Restore If u have been logged out !

(What is Magisk Hide?
By using Magisk Hide, you can actually hide the root from gaming apps like Pokemon Go and also any financial apps including banking apps. In order to make sure that you take complete advantage of the Magisk Hide feature, it’s vital to activate it. Here’s the process)
I get the same problem with an other app that doesn't work with magisk hide
Hello everyone,
I have 2 apps that keeps detecting root no matter what I do..
I tried HIDE MAGISK, MAGISK HIDE props and even I renamed the MAGISK package via MAGISK setting to random name..
The problem is that when I don't hide with MAGISK it will show msg root detected. But if I hide with MAGISK HIDE the app simply doesn't work at all it just hang at loading and crash sometimes.
I tried the app by uninstalling the MAGISK and the app works fine... but as soon as I install/flash MAGISK again app hanging and crashing.
Can anyone have idea how can I fix..
