I need help understanding why my SSH tunnel connection isn't hiding my public IP address no matter which SSH tunneling provider I use. Psiphon Pro VPN app cloaks my IP just fine though.
Moto G4+ Android Nougat 7.0 (rooted), Google Chrome app, SSH Tunnel 1.5.6 app
I made successful SSH connections using accounts with the following free SSH providers: www.sshagan.net, www.fastssh.com, www.freevpn.us
Example setup:
Host IP: x-usa1.sshservers.us
OpenSSH port: 22
Username: myusername-freevpn.us
Password: ********
Use SOCKS proxy: enabled
Local Port: 1984
Global Proxy: enabled
Enable DNS Proxy: enabled/disabled (both worked with same results)
When I use the IP address site at www.expressvpn.com/what-is-my-ip (or any other such site), it always displays the same public IP with or without SSH tunneling. Can someone advise me as to what I'm doing wrong? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
I was able to cloak my IP by using the ProxyDroid app in conjunction with the SSH Tunnel app as follows:
Configured and connected SSH Tunnel as above
Configured ProxyDroid as follows:
- Host: 127.0.0.1
- Port: 1984 (same local port used with SSH Tunnel)
- Proxy Type: SOCKS5
- Global Proxy: enabled
Connected ProxyDroid
My IP address at https://whoer.net was now different from my public IP.

Hey,
Are there any cool proxies, ports or node-IPs I should know about when it comes to T-Mobile GPRS?
A number of people seem to enjoy various degrees of "free" datacom though nobody has posted the IP environment that actually works. below is what I get, and it royally does not work.
Could we discuss what IPs are received, if tracert seem to work and other useful bits about GPRS?
By simply connecting and running vxUtil http://www.cam.com/vxutil_pers.html, your IP environment can be explored. Global DNS can be found here http://www.zoneedit.com/lookup.html
Phone settings
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point name: wap.voicestream.com
User name: n/a
Password: n/a
Domain: n/a
Use server-assigned IP address
No software compression
No IP header compression
Use server-assign addresses for DNS and WINS
Connects to the Internet, no proxy
Connection Behavior

Subnet: 255.0.0.0
Default gateway: 192.168.111.111 (not accessible address due to subnet)
Primary DNS: 66.94.9.120 (T-Mobile USA - does not respond to ping)
Secondary DNS: 66.94.25.120 (T-Mobile USA - does not respond to ping)

DNS works.
HTTP does not work (Google)
I tried various WAP and proxy settings but it's kind of dead...

internet2.voicestream.com for gprs
internet3.voi..... for VPN
I believe you have to pay for all of them although
Posted this earlier as a reply but figured I'd post my own topic. Easier to find...
After weeks of searching different forums and conflicting info, these are the settings that finally worked for me. Mind you I use the $4.99/month T-Zones plan but can acess regular HTTP pages just fine now...
Connects to: The Internet
Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access Point: wap.voicestream.com
User Name:
Password:
Primary/Secondary DNS: Leave Blank (contrary to most forums i've read)
IP Address: Leave Blank
Proxy Settings
This network connects to the internet: Check Box
This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet: Check Box
Click "Advanced"
HTTP - 216.155.165.50 - Port 8080 (do not keep as just 80)
WAP - 216.155.165.50 - Port: 9201
Secure - 216.155.165.50 - Port: 9201 (yes, 9201...Do Not change to 9203 unless you see issues with certain pages)
And for those who require AIM: download it from the Brazilian site. Its free and the messenger itself is all english. Be warned- using other than the AIM built-in to T-Zones will subtract from your message plan as if they were regular text messages. This is Per Message- not session.
Also- these are my working settings for AIM...
Host: login.oscar.aol.com (typical settings)
Port: 25 (the default is 5190 but T-Mobile blocks this port)
MSN Messenger users need to be on a non WAP-only plan ($19.99 Unlimited Internet). Messenger will not get through the WAP proxy settings.
I've also set up my POP accounts and it sends/receives via GPRS just fine.
Hope this works for others or at least helps you in making progress.

I've found on the Vario that you can only send email if you use the following settings:
UserName: t-mobile
Password: tm
DNS - 149.254.1.14
Alternate DNS - 149.254.1.15
thanks that work. Lovely616
If anybody his using an unlocked Orange SPV C500 on T-Mobile UK could they message me. I can get the phone and SMS, GPRS Internet browsing to work but having problems with SMS. If I use the settings T-Mobile suggests (IP and Port) SMS works but not MMS; if I user another set of settings (IP and Ports) then MMS works but SMS does not get texts spontaneously only on reboot; T-Mobile have run out of ideas as not one of their phones.
Seems need to configure in the MMS section, the GPRS section and ?the Proxy section but getting confused as T-Mobile talk about Proxy and Ports but that can be entered in multiple places.[Current below]
Do I need to interface into WAP and if so how? Do I need to link to MMS networking which T-mobile seem to say I do not need to.
thanks
Paul

I'm trying to configure my blackstone for mobile internet use on the 2 degrees network in New Zealand. The 2 degrees website gives the following config info:

Going through Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Add
I entered http://m.2degreesmobile.co.nz/ into the Access Point Name field and proceeded to completion (leaving the Username and Password fields empty).
Unfortunately when trying to connect to the internet I get a 'can not connect for an unknown reason' error.
I can't see anywhere to configure WAP or MMS but I don't believe it's this that is preventing me from access the internet.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to get it working................

no doubt you have solved this problem already but for anyone who hasn't, 2degrees website is very helpful and there is a section were you write in your phone number and some other details and they send you a bunch of txt msgs containing updates and settings changes that will fix the 3g problems.
