Netflix fullscreen issue (black frame) - Shield Android TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I use latest netfix apk for android tv on full android with samsung 4k tv. I cannot remove black frame around the picture (presented in attachment). I can disable/hide navigation bar but picture has still the same size.If i use standard netflix apk then picture is on fullscreen but i want to use 4k resolution (4k tv, 4k cable, 4k nvidia shield and netflix 4k subscription). Other vod services work fine with full resolution.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Can you set your Samsung to view in full screen mode when in Netflix? My Samsung 4K and Netflix 4K and other 4K apps are doing ok. We have not had to do anything special... !

Did you follow the instructions of my video at full android thread ?

I have already installed tiles apk but the main reason was build prop configuration. quemu.hw.mainkeys=1 solve the problem!!! thank you very much for help, now it looks like always should!

[Q] Resolution Change on HDMI

I got an HDMI cable for my tablet, and I hooked it up to my monitor. My monitor does 1080p, but I can't seem to get the tablet to change from its native resolution.
It's alright as-is, but it looks poor, as it's all stretched(and hides the menu bar at the bottom), does anyone know how to change the res on it when HDMI is connected? I'm not too worried about losing the display on the unit, I'd just start up a movie and plug it in and watch.
Currently we are limited to 720p output, 1080p is promised in a futute update (June I believe).
Ah, okay.
Is there any way to change the resolution, though? I'd like it to run at the tablets native resolution(and not chop off the menu bar) if possible. Hard to read notifications when you get an e-mail or something when it's not there.

No, you'd need a 16:10 monitor to do that. Your monitor is 16:9, while your tablet is 16:10

I've got another screen that's 1680x1050 natively, does the same thing still.
My other complaint is that video output through HDMI is quite choppy and not quite sure what the cause is. My Atrix plays video through HDMI flawlessly. Any reasons as to why that may be?
I've got a similar issue with my 32" lg and my asus transformer, is there an app to "resize" the hdmi output ?
can't understand why but while handling hdmi connection my LG TV won't let me resize the image
Anyone find a solution? I just connected mine to my TV and its cutting off the edges and seems like it has a slight lag.
hdmi out perfect
I have used the HDMI out several times to both our Sanyo and Samsung LCD TVs.they scan and auto set tobthe correct resolution.
Watching movies to there work awesome butbsuck batter dead super quick.if hounding not plug your tablet in while watching on big screen it will be jerky and unreliable. Well it is for me anyway.
If im wrong sorry.
On my 40" Bravia, I can tweak the screen so that everything is visible. I haven't noticed any choppiness playing 720p... Haven't attempted anything 1080p yet. I'm using the Lightspeed rom with Richard's kernel, and I use Aimersoft Video Converter for my video files. Aimersoft has an Acer A500 profile that makes videos play flawlessly.

Can you see the menu bar at the bottom?
The menu bar is hidden from the TV screen always.
Yeah I can't see the menu bar, but I'm using the Xoom bluetooth keyboard which has the back, home and menu keys on it.
Guys the hdmi output is 1080p....(if you are on 4.010.40 or some simillar build..)....if you play a 1080p video...the resolution automatically changes from 720p to 1080p...

I'm not sure about the shortcuts on a standard keyboard. Why don't you play around with it and see if there are any? Then report back and let us know what they are

Airplay fully working and Mirroring too.. AndroidApple Tv allinOne

airplay is working on the fire tv including mirror mode using AirPlay/DLNA Receiver (PRO)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.waxrain.airplaydmr
I PAID FOR IT and then sideloaded it using root uninstaller on my phone to make a backup
launched app and made no changes to the default settings
it works perfect
note
the bbc iplayer works on my ipad too but you must enable mirror mode before playing a video the video then shows fullscreen
some times you may get audio and a black screen found if I hit home on the fire remote and then select airplay/mirror device again on ipad it plays perfect again
this black screen bug only happens in mirror mode a minor problem(just hit home and start again)
android and apple tv rolled in to one for an extra $4.90
So this is for mirroring your iPhone on the screen through the fire TV or can this mirror an android phone through the fire TV also?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
this is for iPhone/ipad ios airplay to the fire tv
not android screen mirroring
but there are some airplay type apps for music like doubletwist on android that could use this setup to play music/photos etc
but the mirroring is only for ios devices
I like this app. The developer is very responsive if there are any problems. He has fixed 2 seperate issues for me, and usually responds quickly. I had installed this app when I first got my FTV. After a few days I started getting error messages because the app wasnt installed through the Google Play store. I emailed the developer and he fixed that for me within a day.
AirBuddy for Airplay - music
Airbuddy from amazon' android appstore works great for music. Upgraded via inapp purchase - I primarily use it for music only.
How are these apps different than AllCast? I know one can cast an iDevice to your FTV but AllCast can do movies, photos & music right?

Well being able to use your iOS devices and mirror it on your TV can be very handy. (in example show Safari on the TV).
I downloaded (and paid!) the pro version from the app store, extracted the .apk and sidelined the app on the Fire TV. It works, that's really cool!!

I can attest that it works great and installs painlessly from the Amazon FireTV app store. WaxRain has provided great support on the application.
I can attest that this app is awesome. Works flawlessly 99% of time. BTW, jailbreak your ios device and install movie box. Airplay on fire tv is great. MovieBox blows away XBMC in quality and stability.
Do you know if they make a similar app for android phones. I've tried a bunch and none mirror the screen they just send certain things like music and video

based on your experience - thought I would give it a try ...
installed the (lite) version (AirPlay/DLNA Receiver (LITE)) and get this error on the Fire TV screen when I turn on the "Mirroring" option on either my iPad or iPhone
Built-in Firmware Player in your device does not support this format, Error Code: 1-00000002

I'm trying to get the XFiinity apps to work - via AirPlay - I've tried using the builtin service on XBMC but for XFinity it doesn't work either.

Hi,
I use thise http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...plugin-20&creativeASIN=B00L5HQRGS]AirReciever
*notice 180 coins back.
It does pretty much every thing you can mirror your ipad screen and the lag is low enough so you can easely play games such as the walking dead episode 1 & 2.and other action adventure games. (the audio latency is set well below 200ms with no problems using the iPad3) besides Airplay it also supports DMR/DNLB, and if you have a MAC you can use it as a extra screen natively. this can also be done on PC using the bit limited AirParrot. And it's developed for aFTV.
mirroring lag
Does any one know if mirroring is going to be improved? There seems to be a lot of lag for games my kids play. I tried both AirPlay/DLNA Receiver (PRO) and AirReceiver but both lag with sonic transformed, bubble guppies and more

If you go to the app's website, you can download the "AirPinPCSender" app and install it on your Windows box. I have it on my laptop and it works flawlessly to mirror my laptop to FTV
I just purchased both a
Lenovo Pro Yoga 2
and
Macbook Air 13
Trying to decide which I like better.. while the touch screen is cool and being able to use it as a tablet is fun on the Lenovo - I've had enough wireless connectivity issues that it's been frustrating (not sure if it's windows 8.1 or the card in the computer) - but my old HP stays connected flawlessly so I know it's not the wireless.
I rec'd the Air today - so I'll play with that and make my decision. I already bought and apple TV which works well enough, but the AirParrot app can only mirror the image of the PC and leaves a bar around the entire thing - there's some pretty evident lag as well just browsing.
I originally was going to go w/ the Fire TV and just found out about this app you guys are talking about.
So, essentially I can do a Fire TV (and download the app for airplay?) and download the app to make the apple stream to Fire? I can do both Mirror and 2nd screeN?
Thanks!!
Thank you
Thank you for the idea
Anyone know of a way to mirror an android phone on the fire tv without root? I know AllCast beta can, but iirc you need root and I'm trying to to root my work phone.
Hi folks. For those of you who have this app installed could you please let me know how it good it is at Airplaying video clips captured by the IPHONE / IPAD itself? So I'm not referring to online video (such as iplayer / youtube) being sent to the device, instead I'm asking about video's actually taken on the iphone?
I shelled out for AirReceiver app and although it's good for Airplaying photos and web video content, its crap for video clips cpatured from iphone (LOTS of buffering and really slow).
Also a question for WaxRain, if I pourchase the app, how many devices can I install it on? I myself have 3 FireTVs in my house.
Thanks.

Hi There!
I used Kodi on Nvidia Shield Android TV 6 month.
Last night i upgraded my 34" 720 TV to 55" UHDTV (4K).

If i close the Kodi everything fine with Android desktop.
Is it way to fix?
Thank you!!!

This happens because Android TV on the SHIELD draws the UI at 1080p regardless of the actual resolution of your TV. Kodi, however, tries to handle the mouse cursor position based on the TV's actual resolution, causing the behavior you're describing.
I don't own a 4K TV myself, so I can't test this, but you could try changing the Resolution setting under Settings > HDMI to see if that fixes it.

Still can't get the screen to fit on my TV

Does anybody know how to make the MOJO screen fit on my tv properly? I have a 50" LED and the edges are cut off on my screen. Tried all the settings on the TV & a few apps, but I can't seem to get the size or resolution right. I really would like it to fit because it is cutting off the first few letters on the left, and that makes it pretty hard to navigate through menu's Thanks...
You might have done this, but just double checking, do you have a "scan option" under your menu?
This is different from zooming.

If you're on stock you may have to go into Settings and adjust the HDMI TV setting to your TV's resolution (under "Display"). I have a 24" 720p TV and I had to change the HDMI TV setting to HDMI 720p before all the edges were contained within the TV screen.
Thanks for the suggestions, but I am still unable to stop the screen from being cropped...It looks fine on my pc monitor, so it must be something with my tv.

Are you using one of the custom roms, or is your MOJO running stock? Also, is your tv 720, 1080 or something else? I ask because I just got done trying the android tv rom and the remix os rom on my MOJO with my 720p tv. Both of them did end up having at least some cropping issues.
Sent from my C6730 using Tapatalk
I'm running stock mojo on a 1080 TV...Tried 720 and 1080 and they both have the same issue. I've tried a couple of resolution changer apps with horrible results!
I had this prob, I have a 40" JVC. I solved it by going into tv settings and switching to PC mode.
This was troubling me for days until I rooted the Mojo, flashed CM12.1 and installed Second Screen from the Play Store.
This will allow you to set up a profile, resize your screen to fit and save it.
Job done.
