Hi,
I rooted my S8 (SM-G950U1, carrier unlocked) recently using SamPWND method.
By doing so my phone's baseband version was changed from the original G950U1UEU1AQH3 to G950USQU1AQDE from SamPWND.
Is there a way to flash the original baseband somehow? I have the original firmware files I downloaded from SamMobile.com
The other baseband version seems to be compatible with my phone since I can make calls and receive messages.
Should I even bother restoring the original baseband firmware?
I flashed the original CSC G950U1UEU1AQH3_G950U1OYM1AQH3_XAA using Comsey Odin (the original Odin was throwing "FAIL! Model dismatch fail" error).
That didn't update the baseband back to stock version though.
I can probably use something like "Partitions backup" app from Google store to restore a partition, but I don't know which partition that is and where to get the original baseband partition image for G950U1UEU1AQH3.
Thank you!

I used the Sampwnd method. The first time I flashed with stock. I then did the samPWND. I didn't have any issues doing it in this order.
I saved the samPWND files and somehow went back in to get them and half somehow was deleted. If there is anyway to send me a link via drive or anything like that it would ve greatly appreciated.
Hello,
I used files from this youtube video to root my S8.
Please check the description for that video for the links.

This will not work on modern bootloaders. Sampwnd is for version one only. See the PartCyborgRom thread for a modern (and mucb simpler) method, no stock necessary
Just flash CP in Odin, that's what I used to do in the BLV1 version so I'm sure it works the same

Thank you, guys!
I think I am good for now, the phone is rooted, working perfectly and I am not planning to update it any time soon, unless somebody finds a way to remove the charging to 80% restriction in this engineering kernel

I actually wanted to flash the leaked Lollipop for my new Note 3 but from what I can read it's not safe just yet... i'm not rooted and can't backup my PIT. Also I read a whole lot about wifi-bugs and so on.
But coming from S5 I really want a fresh look on my Note 3 so I thought I'd flash a custom ROM.
If I understand everything correct I have to do the following:
1: Flash custom recovery with ODIN
2: Flash custom ROM from recovery
I don't need to be rooted before I flash a custom recovery with ODIN, right?
I don't care about triggering Knox. I'll just flash the Stock Lollipop when it's available.
Have I got the procedure right?

Yes you are right.
Regarding to backing up the PIT file, it is not necessary to backup the PIT file from your device. You can get a PIT file from the similar device, i.e the device with the same model name and same CSC. You can use Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app to get your Model Name and CSC.

First obtain your Model Name and CSC as I have said. Then search on Google, e.g. PIT file N9005 XME, where N9005 is Model Name, XME is CSC.
Ok! I think I´ll stick with 4.4.2 until the official Lollipop comes. Even if I succeed flashing Lollipop I don´t want to risk WiFi-problems and other bugs since I´m not rooted
May I ask where I can find Custom Recovery for Note 3 SM-N9005 32gb 4.4.2 XXUGNI4?
Best regards!

You can search for CWM or TWRP recovery...
To download correct recovery for your device, you will need Device Type and Product Name (e.g. hlte/hltexx or something like that). You can find it using the above mentioned Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app.

I must have done something wrong... Or am I missing something?
I used Odin 3.09 and started it as administrator. Everything connected fine and I selected the .tar-file (the correct one) and the procedure went ok, green across the board! The phone rebooted and still all OK. Shut of the phone and after 30 sec I booted to recovery but the stock one was still there...
Any ideas?
Edit: I found this... Do I dare to use it?

Sorry I have no idea as I'm currently on the stock recovery after upgrading to 4.4.2.
Try to google search for the solution...
I made it work. I flashed TWRP with ODIN again but I unticked AutoReboot. When the flash was done I pulled the battery and rebooted straight to recovery. Since I had the new ROM on my SD-card I could flash it straight away.
Problem solved!
I seen on other forums you can basically create a working PIT (Partition Information Table) From a Working Device, obviously based on the Same Firmware set you are running, now that root is up and running, the idea is which mmcblk to dd to get it done
Here is a link for reference I found on older Galaxy Models, id assume the process is the same but again not sure about whick block device i need to copy
Pit File Extraction
Nvr Mind Found the pit file in the CSC Section of the Stock FLash Files, doesnt exactly tell me how to generate my own but does provide a working solution if ever needed
Please CLOSE

Did you ever extract the PIT file? I need one to fix my phone and I'm on the latest update that came out a few days ago. I don't have root and my S7 is stock.

I'm on PF2. I've never used a pit file with ODIN so what does it do exactly? Could you maybe help me?
I'm getting an error when rebooting in recovery saying "failed to mount /data (Invalid arguement)". I can't notice it affecting anything though. It only pops up after I select power off, reboot, or wipe cache. If I do a wipe data/cache and thrn reboot it doesnt pop up. My phone still seems to perform right but this error worries me.
Like I said, I've never tried to root or flash my phone but this is happening.

I've downgraded to PE1 seeing if that what fix my issue, but it didn't so if you do have the PE1 version that would be fine for now while I'm on this version.

if the stock files don't work i can extract a master PIT file from the phone but i need to make sure it covers all of the relevant partitions first, basically preventing you from getting an erroneous file, as they lay out how the phone should partition the emmc chip basically acting as a flash memory version of a hard drive

I am trying to unroot my phone. I have a US version of G930A. Sammobile has every county except the USA. I found G930AATT1APB5_User_Binary.zip which has AP_G930AUCU1APB5_CL7193387_QB8719495_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar, the BL, CP and CSC file in it. I try to flash it using Odin3, and I get an "odin protocol version error." I take it because the image is a lower version that's what's on there. I would like to download the latest stock image but sammobile doesn't offer images for the US? Or is there a better way?
Wrong forum. This here is for SM-G930F Development, not Q&A. You'll get the answers you're seeking and more, at the S7 AT&T Q&A and Dev forums. Mod, please move - thanks.
Wrong forum. But try using Kies in Download mode
That is what i do when ever i restore my phone.
No Kies good lord. This isn't a Note 2.
You're getting that error because you're on newer firmware than you're trying to flash so it's erroring out.
Follow the Return to stock procedure in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...sed-unroot-t3411039/post67605246#post67605246
Flash all 4 files, then you'll be on PF2 and able to get the OTA Update to PG1 with wifi calling, etc.
I tried using kies. It asks me for my model. I put in SM-G930A. The serial I put in all caps and it tells me my model number I entered is wrong.

Which Odin are you using?
You're flashing the PF2?
I've tried many versions of Odin v1 (not the 3). I'm not sure what the PF2 is.
To get it to work, I just defaulted the phone and rerooted it. It's the only way I can get it to work. It's working perfect right now. Only question is how long,

for g930a (galaxy s7 at&t NOT EDGE)
WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA MAKE A BACKUP
download these files:
Odin: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2t...din_3.12.3.rar
Flashing Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B17...w?usp=drivesdk
After downloading extract the .rar extract it then extract each, BL, AP, ect... files. Use the odin included in the download to flash and you will be returned to stock. If the odin included still gives you the error you can get the princecomsey version and see if that works from here: http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/tools/ODIN/ODIN-modified.zip
If odin freezes or crashes just restart it and try again, it might take a while foor the AP file to load into odin so just be patient and if it looks like it is about to crash wait about 2-3 minutes then force close it and try again.
Now you are returned to stock an all set !!
(p.s) - PF2 is the latest firmware as of now for the g930a, meaning when you flash this you will be all set. You may have tried to flash the original PF which is now outdated cause AT&T updated it, I did this and it worked but i could not update my phone so I flashed this one and it works perfectly and Samsung pay is up and running.
hello, not exactly a n00b, but definitely with this phone.
Long story short, tried to root with Odin using apparently depreciated instructions. Odin halted after wiping my NAND, leaving me with a softbricked phone.
I need help restoring the phone to factory. I have expierienced fail auth and sha256 errors trying do restore.
Which of the dozens of flavors of odin , and which FW do I need to get this back to work? I forgot to mention the carrier is AT&T. So my boot loader is locked.
TY
use prince comsy odin
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s8/SM-G950U1/ATT/
Clarification
Is U1 FW the same as for SM-G950U? Just want to clarify before I attempt to flash again. and ty for your reply
Restore worked beautifully, however cosmey errored out and I had to use the PatcheD version of odin to complete. Can someone point me to a guide for rooting the U1 oreo pls?

U 1 can be flashed but you just want the regular U firmware.
Make sure it is the correct bootloader version as what the device is on now or higher. As downgrading is not possible and also throws a fail auth error.
Also use regular Odin 3.13.1 for stock firmwares. Not comsey, that is for modded firmware and such

Yea here's the kicker. Oreo can't be rooted and u1 isn't rooted only rooted is part cyborg rom. Which is U Firmware Also if your bootloader is to high. 3 or higher no downgrade no root
I think we have had quite a mix up or misunderstanding here...The link in #2 points to ATT SM-G950U1 FW. I looked all over the sammobile site and was not able to find any ATT FW for the 950U, only the U1. Also, I was told in #2 to use prince cosmey so I tried. I ran cosmey as admin loaded the 4 Files, left the options on default, and it errored out. So I tried standard odin with default options, it errored out as well. Finally, I used the PatcheD odin 3b and it worked flawlessly. My only question now, can someone link me to a working root method for the 950U/U1
for the snapdragon version of the s8 by at&t? I have tried several, but odin and/or the device always throws an error. I am on the verge of giving up. TY very much for all your help up to this point, I could not have gotten my phone back to working order without your help.

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is a way to flash stock firmware for the s6 tab lite without a computer? I don't have access to mine at the moment, and my tablet currently has lineageOS with root and twrp on it. The firmware that I downloaded seems to only be compatible with Odin, any insight would be greatly appreciated!
With TWRP you can only flash a Customrom.
Have you create a Backup oft the Stockrom before you flashed the Customrom ?
If yes , so you can restore this.

According to Magendaz, one can flash kernel, firmware, and custom ROM with TWRP.
I realize I didn't read the thread correctly, I apologize. My post is for using odin
-------
I wanted to root the device, but changed my mind after learning you can't be in stock firmware and have twrp/root at the same time (please correct me on this since I was having trouble trying to root my device via TWRP since I was stuck on recovery when trying to boot into system with bootloader and OEM Unlocking enabled; I assume I bricked the tablet somehow).
If you haven't created a backup like I did, you have to use ODIN to flash to the stock firmware. Here's how I got it done:
Download the firmware via: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-P610/XAR/P610XXU2BTK2 or whichever website has the stock firmware
Look into the region code (CSC) your device has. XAR is the firmware region for the United States. I wasn't able to tell which region code I had since I correctly guessed
Insert the first 3 files to ODIN (AP, BL, CSC) and Start
https://imgur.com/pvOcPmy
I was a bit worried that there is no CL file at first but I assume that's only for LTE (
https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/99f1w2/_/e4n63ue
)
Hope this helps
