Just in case:
if you are using files posted below, its because you already know what you are doing. I'm not responsible if you brick your phone using these files (e.g. flashing ota-firmware over the wrong version). All files posted below, (exception: reset roms, nandroid backups and "No red text" hboot) are official HTC files so don't blame me if something goes wrong when flashing, I'm just the uploader. Flash at your own risk! Thanks.

Reset roms/Nand backup:
These roms/nandroid backups are for users with developer edition M7 (or converted to DevEd) that want to reset their phones back to stock version 6.07.1540.1, 6.07.1540.2 or 7.17.1540.7 and be able to receive future ota updates. Reset Roms are flashed using TWRP with the Aroma Installer and like an official Guru Reset Rom, you have the option to flash stock recovery, stock radio and root from the installer.
These reset roms was made using one of crushalot's famous "guru reset" rom package. All credits goes to him for the awesome work he did for us. All I did here was to repack one of his zip with the dev edition system dump, recovery, radio and preload apps (/data/preload) and re-sign it.
I have personally tested these reset roms on my own device using TWRP Recovery 2.6.3.3. Use TWRP 2.8.4.0 to restore the 7.17.1540.7 nandroid backup. Please use ADB push instead of Sideload for better results (sideload might freeze or report "failed") or drag-n-drop to /sdcard if you still have an OS on your phone or if your recovery support MTP!
Basic instructions for Reset Roms:

FAQ
1) Can I flash this reset rom/nandroid with PN071XXXX MID / HTC__XXX CID?
A) Yes but read 2) and 3) below.
2) Will I receive ota update if i'm using HTC__XXX CID?
A) No, you will only receive ota update using BS_US001 CID (also using superCID, thanks to @shinji257 for reporting this)
---> Change CID to BS_US001 (S-OFF needed)
Code:
fastboot oem writecid BS_US001
or to superCID:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
3) Can I receive ota update when using PN071XXXX MID?
A) No, only PN0712000 can receive ota updates. If using another MID you'll be able to download the ota update but you'll get the "Variant System Version" error when trying to install it.
---> Change MID to PN0712000 using this tool (S-OFF needed)
---> Or flash OTA update manually from stock recovery (S-OFF needed)
4) After using the 6.07.1540.2 reset rom and selecting "NO" to "install root" I however have SuperSu installed. thanks to @trancemtv for reporting.
A) My bad, I mistakenly built this reset rom using a system dump of a rooted phone. This will not affect ota updates. Fixed in 7.17.1540.7 nandroid backup.
---> Manually delete supersu from /system/app and root files from /system/xbin using TWRP's file manager then re-flash the stock recovery provided in this thread. Or you can use an unroot app like "ota root keeper" to remove root: use "Temp unroot" then "delete SU backup".
5) How can I "adb push" and install a reset roms to my phone:
A)
Originally posted by @alrayHTC ONE M7_U/M7_UL - ADB PUSH & FLASH A ROM - DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS
Prerequisites:
You need ADB and FASTBOOT on your computer,
either by installing the Android SDK or Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT
You need to know how to start a fastboot/adb command prompt:
To open a command window prompt, in Windows go to Start Menu --> ''Run'' then type cmd. Change the directory to the ADB folder on your machine:
If using the default install location for the SDK:
Code:
cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools
If using the default install location of Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT:
Code:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Or hold left shift + right click a blank space inside the folder where adb and fastboot are located and select ''Open command window here'' from the contextual menu.
You need TWRP recovery on your device.
We still recommend to use version 2.6.3.3 for all roms
except if another version is specified in the rom OP.
Use 2.7.1.1+ for roms that require "block:by-name" support (CM11)
Unlock bootloader if not already unlocked:
Thanks to Electroz for the video tutorial
Flash TWRP Recovery:
Make sure the recovery.img file is in the same folder where adb and fastboot are located
(C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
reboot phone in bootloader mode
Flash the recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
You need your HTC drivers correctly installed on your PC:
If not, follow this guide (thanks to nkk71):
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone anyways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didnt install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better
and can confirm:
Code:
C:\ADB3>[B]adb devices[/B]

Procedure:
Make sure the ROM you want to flash is in the same folder where ADB and FASTBOOT are.
(C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
Here is a list of the HTC M7 roms. Some other roms can be found here.
Connect your phone to computer using usb cable
(if not using the official HTC USB calble, make sure
you are using a USB data cable and not only a charging
cable. Data cables have 4 contacts: 5V, GND, DATA+, DATA-.
Charging cable only have 5V and GND contact and will not work)
Reboot phone in recovery mode (TWRP):
If phone is booted in OS:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
if not booted or bootlooping, hold power button + volume down until phone boot in bootloader mode
then select BOOTLOADER then RECOVERY using volume up/down to navigate and power button to select.
Make sure your phone is booted in TWRP main menu:
transfer the rom to your /sdcard folder:
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
Wait for the zip file to transfer, this can take several minutes (5-15) and there is no progress bar, the command prompt will be unresponsive for that duration. When the command prompt is responsive again and display how much bytes transferred in X seconds, the transfer is completed:
In TWRP main menu, select ''INSTALL''
Browse the installation menu and select your rom zip file inside /sdcard folder:
Swipe to confirm you want to flash the rom
Reboot phone
Click to collapse

5) How can I push and restore a nandroid backup to my phone?
B) Boot in twrp and make a backup of boot.img only (this is only to generate a backup path). Then using twrp's files manager navigate to /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/your_serial_number/date_of_backup and delete backup files in this folder and replace them by the files contained in the nandroid backup you want to use. Then select "restore" and restore the backup.
6) How can I flash recovery?
A)
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
7) How can I flash firmware?
A) If you are asking this question, you shouldn't mess with firmware! But however:
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
8) Can I use the 7.17.1540.7 firmware posted here to update my frimware from x.xx.xxx.x version?
A) Strongly not recommended (might brick your phone in QHSUSB-DLOAD mode). The 7.17.1540.7 firmware posted in this thread is a firmware patch to be flashed over the 6.07.1540.2 firmware version. If you want to update to 7.17.1540.7 firmware then flash the 6.07.1540.2 (full) firmware and then the 7.17.1540.7 ota-firmware.
9) I have another question/comment
A) If its related to files posted here, how to use them or to request other files, go ahead and post your questions. Otherwise the HTC One Q&A sub-forum is the place to post your questions, start a thread there and we will help you. Stay on topic, will not answer questions like "How to s-off, how to unlock, how to root, how to install drivers, issues with adb/fastboot" here.

Yes, it should but you should S-OFF first to get an update. Otherwise you will be stuck in a weird mode.
Newer version of the reset rom (6.07.1540.2) uploaded. See OP for download link.

Unable to install lollipop OTA 7.17.1540.7, HTC m7 Dev(Converted)
Hi alray
I had converted my AT&T Unlocked HTC m7 to US Dev edition sometime back and flashed stock recovery on it.
I was able to receive and install OTA updates and current OS version in 6.07.1540.2.
Today i am able to download the lollipop OTA update version 7.17.1540.7 but unable to install the update. It says "i have changed my phone and unable to install new rom".
How can I proceed further , do I need to reset my ROM ?.
Please advise some help.
Thanks

Variant version error are caused by using the wrong MID. Correct MID is PN0712000
Hello everyone, This is my first post in Desire 816 forum.
It seem like many people restored lollipop backup with WiFi issue. This is happen because you didn't update firmware that come with official OTA. I made firmware mod with removed red text warning hboot and decide to share it here.
S-OFF with SuperCID only
How to:
- Reboot phone to fastboot mode by press vol down + power then select fastboot in hboot menu
- Copy firmware zip to platform-tools folder of Android SDK or your own copy place of fastboot
- Rename it to firmware.zip
- Open terminal side the folder and type
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
- You will see white HTC logo then type
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
- Now type the same command again
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
- Finished! You can reboot by
Code:
fastboot reboot
For S-ON user you can flash official firmware zip if you are using one of CID listed.

a huge thanks to you for the explanation I'll be looking around for OTA image for A5_DUG to fix my firmware then
so, I extracted A5_DUG firmware.zip from its OTA. when I try to flash the firmware, this is what I get.
when should I flash it anyway? before or after restoring the TWRP lolipop backup?
also, am I correct to assume that by flashing this, I will lose custom recovery and have to flash TWRP again ?(as firmweare.zip includes the stock recovery.img)
*EDIT* Nevermind. I found out that if you're S-On , the bootloader should be locked in order to flash a zip in RUU, so you'll have to type in this command before flashing:
Fastboot oem lock
Click to collapse
and ofcourse, you'll need to unlock later, and it doesn't accept your old Unlocktoken, so you'll have to get another one from HTCdev
and then flash custom recovery afterwards.

Are you S-OFF? if so, you can change the cid this way.
If you're S-on, there's not much you can do.( I read somewhere that you can edit CID in the firmware files so that your device accepts it but I can't remember where or how it was.)

Hi,
I am looking for free RUU 2.18.401.10 for the HTC M9 HIMAR UHL.
My CID is HTC__034 currently running 2.18.401.10 Firmware but modified system not being able to use OTA files Backup of system and boot before rooting didn't help as restoring still shows modified being unable to flash OTA manually - suckz badly...
Searching the internet for days only returns files for

2. Signed Firmware 2.18.401.8 --> 2.18.401.10 (out of OTA above)
Any help highly appreciated.
Thanks!
Michael
Huh. Can you provide a little more by the way of identifying information on your phone? I can't find anything about the CID you've mentioned. Can you provide your MID or your SKU?
Hi,
corrected some typos in above post especially regarding the Firmwareversion
Corrected Data:
M9 Prime Camera Edition - Released in Germany end of April 2016 --> I am not sure about the correct abbreviation as everyojne in this forum refers to this mobile differently. Product ID is htc_himaruhl - with an "R" in it
Firmware: 2.18.401.10 --> came with buggy 2.18.401.8 originally
Cidnum: HTC__034 --> unbranded "Europe" Version
In particular I am looking for the following
1. RUU "2PRGIMG_HIMAR_ML_UHL_M60_SENSE70GP_HTC_Europe_2.18 .401.10..."
2. Alternatively a unmodified System and Boot Dump of Version 2.18.401.8 OR 2.18.401.10 would be sufficient as well
If other data needed I will be able to provide it 2nite - I am currently at work.
Thanks for your help,
Michael
Any one here
1. with access to the above mentioned RUU?
2. or could provide me with a clean and unmodified System + Boot Backup 2.18.401.8 or 2.18.401.10 for M9 Prime Camera Edition --> Product ID HIMAR
*bump*
Still no one? ;-(
kernel: lk
product: htc_himaruhl

cid: HTC__034
Sadly, you're stuck. Pay for S-OFF (fairly surefire) or for access to the RUU collection sites (a bit iffy).
Same problem here... tried to root and always stuck at starting twrp.
Did'nt found RUU or even the stock recovery.
So I have to wait until anyone is helping because I have no idea about restore or root that crab phone....
Edit:
After I flashed TWRP my DATA-partition is cleaned and could not mount anymore. So my System is totally damaged ... now I formated the data and it could mount again. But I have no RUU to rebuild system again.

Rooting is no problem with stock firmware for that phone. Just flash supersu systemless 2.71 BETA, works like a charm
My Problem is More related to a modified system partition after xposed install - which also works flawlessly! I have performed backups right after unpacking as I am not doing that the first time, had a m7 before which broke after dropping it the 30th time - RIP my m7 (
Restoring the initial backups does not help to get back to unmodified state, therefore I need a clean backup or RUU...
So far: No luck...;-(

Great job. Thanks a lot.
Let me know how it works.
Having spent HOURS over HOURS now to flash RUU correctly, I thought I may share what resulted with success for me:
1. Download RUU: https://rapidu.net/5015736911/2PRGI...U-W.T-_release_477006_combined_signed_2_4.zip
2. Download HTC fastboot: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891970
3. Reboot to Download Mode
4. Optional: Set Phone to "Relocked" if you like with "fastboot oem lock"
5. fastboot oem rebootRUU
6. Flash RUU.zip with "htc_fastboot flash zip RUUZIPName.zip"
7. Enjoy
Placing ruu.zip on my SDcard having it name "2PRGIMG.zip", trying to install in Stock Recovery by selecting it from a FAT32 formatted External SDcard, etc. pp - ALL did NOT work!
Have fun

Thanks @sabpprook - but why so complicated restoring partition by partition if you link the signed RUU as well? I mean ok: You won't wipe the userdata partition - fair point. But in the end all you will get is a "dirty flashed" ROM. If you want to do so you should also consider wiping cache partition.
But in my case for example the above did not work as my partition layout seemed to be "corrupt" and also security partitions were messed up. After lock, flashing full RUU and new unlock everything worked like a charm again Most important thing I noted was that I had to use htc_fastboot for M9 which I couldn't find on HTCs official site as they only offer a very old version to download Standard fastboot from mini-sdk in latest version also will fail as it is not able to get pass HTCs size limitation for RUU...
PS: If you like I could provide you with signed firmware 2.18.401.10 as well so that S-OFF is not needed anymore. Or just extract it from the OTA I have sent you earlier - no decrypt required there
Update 2.32.401.1 is available now
