I can't find "merge duplicate" in contacts menu... Help
thats wierd, I did it with some contacts when I got the phone, now that you asked I checked and the option is missing. I do not know if is a problem with the contacts/phone app or with the latest OS build
Same here and also takes 3 to 6 seconds to display contact info

For some reason this week I have lost my contacts app twice. Running the same setup both times, which I have been using for a while with no issues until now.
Last time I reflashed the rom and it brought my contacts back for a day or two and now they are gone again...
Anyone have any idea what might be causing it?
Im on ComRom 1.3

Are your contacts synced with Backup Assistant? Google sync?
Have you checked Phone> Contacts> Display Options to see which contacts you have or dont have to be displayed.
All phone contacts and Google contacts are set to be displayed.
The contacts are still there... the app is just gone. If I open the dialer and dial a persons number, the contact name will appear on the dialer screen, but i cant get to the list of my contacts in any way. Not even through Launcher Pro's People widget.
Try GO contacts or another alternative from the market.

I think this should be a simple fix, but I don't fully understand what I am seeing.
- When I look at my contact list, I see a single google icon on most. When I open those, they show as a joined contact with phone and google icons.
- Others show two or three google icons. When I open those, they show as a joined contact and a google icon.
Goal: I want to clean up my contacts list so I have a single copy of each entry that is synced to my google account. My google contacts are de-dupped and merged, so this is not a reflection of dups there AFAIK.
History: Initially I had most of my contacts in the phone. I went to the sprint store figuring this would be a simple queston for one of the Elves. 20 min later, I had 2-3 copies of every contact in my google account. In response to "where is the vcf file you just saved?" The elf told me, "There where no files on your phone and that there is nothing stored on my SD card." Anyway, the mess on google was corrected quickly from my computer. However I missed the oportunity to fix this mess when I recently flashed CleanGB and restored too much...
I have 2 questions:
1) What is the meaning of the multiple icons?
2) How do I just wipe the contacts on the phone and resync to google w/o wiping the google contacts?

I had the same problem a while ago. I think I used the "contacts" section in gmail. That's where your phone syncs with. I found something in there that could delete duplicates or something. Or merge them? Sorry I'm not around a computer right now but that's the key. Hope it helps

Login to your google account had the same problem a while back. Just go to google.com/voice and you can manage your contacts better

in contacts hit menu>settings> check display only contacts with phones?
Thanks to all who replied.
I ended up doing the following:
1) backed up google contacts (as csv from gmail.com)
2) broke syncing of phone contacts.
3) wiped all contacts
4) re-enabled syncing
Joy.
So i have this strange problem.
When using the people app normally there is nothing wrong, i can scroll through all my contacts and view their details.
The issue starts when i try to search for a contact:
The contact doesn't show up first, even though i've entered the full name.
When clicking that contact the details page is just blank.
When i go back to the contacts overview, all contacts are gone and it just shows a blank page.
Then also when searching a contact in the dialer, i am unable to call that contact by clicking on it.
And when searching a second time it just displays nothing..
A while ago i did a factory reset and the issue is still present.
I'm running stock 4.4.2 with root and Xposed framework on top of the Matr1x 13.5 kernel.
I thought it may had something to do with gravitybox, as it can change functionality of the dialer, but disabling it doesn't change a thing.
I'm at loss here, hope you guys can help me solve the problem.

I had a similar problem a long time ago.
But my problem happened because i really screwed up with MyPhoneExplorer.
Try checking your Google Account for the contacts. Check if they are all filled with info first.
And another question. When you reboot your device, the contacts are normal, or the problem persists?
Good old times when i used MyPhoneExplorer with my old Sony Ericsson feature phone haha.
All the contacts are there, and each and every one of them has the right information.
When i reboot or even quit the app for that matter the contacts return, but everything related to searching seems to break it..
I am having an issue with my new LG Urbane. When I swipe over to contacts on the watch and select a contact with multiple phone numbers, the phone number type is wrong. On the phone a number is listed as Mobile but shows up as Work. Work shows up as home. Etc.
Has anyone else seen this? How do I fix this??
I also see missing photos.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm having only 20 of my 78 contacts on LG Urbane, strange.
Wow, I'm seeing the same thing, every number is labeled wrong! I only see 34 of my 560 contacts, but I do see photos for the ones I have set photos for. (I don't use Google+ or Facebook photos.) It looks like the ones I see are the ones in my call log that are in my contacts list. This is definitely a bug that needs to get zapped!

hey - i had some problems and did this
- make sure you have contacts backed-up to google
- settings -> accounts -> google -> touch your account to show all the sync settings
- unclick contacts
- settings -> apps -> all -> contacts : wipe cache and data and force stop the apps
- do the same as above with contacts storage
- settings -> accounts -> google -> touch your account to show all the sync settings
- click contacts
- wait until sync completes and it should work
this worked for me when I was getting no contacts available when using "ok google"
I hope it helps you too

We're talking about contacts on the watch showing the wrong number, mobile for work, etc. I don't have any trouble with contacts and "OK Google" on the watch. Were you having the same problem and your method fixed it, or are you talking about no contacts available?

Hi Jim
you are right - my issue is different but if you assume the operations I went through is a clean resync of the contacts data it may help you to try it
Just wanted to suggest something that might help
Good luck and let me know if you try it and it works
I'm having the same issues with my LG G Watch.... not all my contacts are showing and the phone types are incorrect. Really annoying since i don't have my contacts numbers memorized.
I don't think your issue is specific to your device. I'm having the same experience with my Moto 360. All numbers are there, but whether it is work/mobile/home/etc is all out of whack.

I hope you're right, and if so, the rumored update for next month fixes it.
The problem i am having is that there are contacts on my watch's "frequently contacted" page that are no longer on my contact list in my phone or google contacts. I've done everything i can think of to get rid of them but nothing is working... thoughts?

I don't know if this was ever fixed on the Urbane, but I switched to the Huawei Watch and of the ones I checked, they all show the correct type for each phone number.
Just noticed that despite Google syncs ALL my contacts are on Google ONLY. At least the phone is saying that there are no contacts in the device.
Soo how do I force a download into my phone from Google? Should be straight forward but nothing seems to work...
Thanks

It's a problem with Google contacts app. Do you have the latest version?

I have no uninstalled updates...
You're right. Mine broke again. Bad.

I don't think the contact app has ever copied the contacts locally.
For those who may be confused about my issue:
From inside the Contacts App, I tap the hamburger (3 horizontal bars).
I see All Contacts and Contacts.
All contacts does not have a number next to it and if I touch it, I see all of my contacts.
Contacts has a 0 to the right and if I touch it, I see "No contacts in this account"

How many accounts do you have on the phone?
All contacts is a combination of all the accounts you've given the app permission to sync.
Contacts, is a list of only the contacts for the current account picked.
Further, is you hit the 3 dots on the right side on the list, you can do Customize View, if you have nothing selected, that will result in "0" showing up.
I only have one account and that is google. So how do I pick the "current account"? I have not setup a custom view.
Solution! At least for me
This worked for me:
Do this on WiFi
1. Go to Settings>Apps->Contacts
2. Click on Storage
4. Click on CLEAR DATA
5. Reboot Phone
6. Go to Settings>Google->Restore Contacts
7. Below "Device backup", Tap on the backup
8. Tap Restore
You will be notified when restore is complete.
There is a posting elsewhere if some but not all are restored to the device.
