First of all, thanks Deuces and Northmendo for the idea to help people.
I have created a pretty easy all in one that will install the lasted adb and fastboot system wide and fastboot flash unlock and unlock_critical. It will install the latest 8.1 developer preview for the Pixel 2 XL for you as well with all the necessary files included. I did not inlcude the lock and lock_critical function as most do not use it.
As the instructions state, please use a usb 2.0 port and and usb-c to usb-a cable that supports data. Also enabling debugging and oem unlock is a must.
It includes a menu driven batch file that is super easy to use.
For those that want to use this same batch file on the pixel 2 itself, please extract the zip from google and then extract the zip within the zip. Next pull the bootloader and radio img file from the root of the zip to the FILES folder included in this program. Then copy all the contents from the zip within the zip to the same FILES folder. It should contain about 22 files in total. We really don't need the android-info.txt file.
I will also be including a batch file with a semi empty FILES folder that does not include any Google related 8.1 files for those that want to download it quicker and copy their own contents to it for flashing. Like Pixel 2 owners that already have the 8.1 preview downloaded.
If anyone needs any help please feel free to ask. This post was rushed so please excuse my grammatical errors.
FOR PIXEL 2 and PIXEL???? ----NO IMG's inlcuded

FOR PIXEL 2 XL ---- IMG's included
http://www.mediafire.com/file/1wde39mj7ssbxb3/PIXEL_2_XL_SAUCE_V1.zip
Oh btw. In the credits they are listed as well as their profile page.
Forgot to mention your phone needs to be in the bootloader. Duh!

No problem. I'll prolly update it to lock the bootloader and have some useful adb commands.

so we need unlock_critical
which they said we need only for non signed bootloader
did google not signed the bootloader img by mistake
or this is intentional for dev previews
You can install the Dev 8.1 ROM without unlocking though. Just go to Android's site and enroll your phone in the beta program like you would an iPhone, and it just sends it to you as an OTA and installs it without wiping or unlocking your phone...

Not sure but it could be as it is a manual flash. Have you tried stock 8.0 flash with critical locked?

I'm having issues flashing this. I ran the .bat file but when I choose "Flash All", I can get to this final screen where it says "THERE IS NO GOING BACK. PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE" except nothing happens when I hit any key. Is this happening for anyone else?

Okay, I am new to the rooting and modifying android devices.. I rooted my Nexus 7 using supersu and was making modifications with ROM toolbox pro. I changed the boot screen, the font, and the wireless icon(starting out small) well when I restarted my tablet it wouldn't get past the lboot screen that I set to.
When I went into recovery mode, I tried to recovery my old system but it giving me md5 missing.. so I'm kinda of stuck
is there a direct approach to the solution?
Nice tip. Only use stuff like mods tha are on xda. Use metamorph to impalement theming stuff or flashable zips. Regaurds your situation ty flashing the rom again. Wipe data factory reset. If all else fails flash the google factory image and learn from your mistakes you made. Most problems you get in the future are pretty easily fixed with a bit of patience

Move your android folder to the C: Drives root folder and try directing the command prompt from there.
Type :-
cd c:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
adb

Got it,
Thank you all for the help
For those who want to install it CWMR or TWRP (Only for this), can use fastboot commander, I used in the Razr i though supposedly is for HTC (I have 2 wildfire), or for s-off, but I can only assure you that I have served my trouble, so I do not take responsibility for what may happen to their terminals if used, remember "only unlocked bootloader."
It is a tar file extensión, and run from the PC with the Razr I fastboot mode and connected Through USB cable, has tabs to choose and in our case the first has 3 types of files to flash, HBOOT, radio and recovery, the latter is what interests us, you click the appropriate button, choose the file xxxxx.img (recovery for razr I), is given flash and go.
Download Fastboot Commander
http://db.tt/A1jrCD4B
Download Recovery and Install via Fastboot Commander
Find where you downloaded the file and place them in a folder next to Fastboot Commander

It wouldn't be unless it was built specifically for Motorola's fastboot...
An apology
An apology, do not speak English, and I use the google translator to communicate
I indicated generically using the ".Img" file and has not been my intention, these are not the format of the backups to the "system" or "data" with the Razr I CWMR, I edited the party causing this confusion.
greetings and good luck
I made a video where I install the recovery (black and gray background) but will investigate, and upload it.

QURepack is a new tool for boot.img unpack/repack. You do not need to run cmd and write anything to this. Just run the QURepack.exe and click unpack and repack button for this. This tool is very easy to use and will help you to do this in short time.

I'm sure it works. Because it's a GUI to the bootimg.exe tool (available for free from Github), which is a modification of the bootimg.py tool (available for free from another Github). The internet is full of "content gateways" where someone wastes their talent on building a do-nothing program instead of something useful, like a tool that allows easy repartitioning/editing of a mmcblk0.raw image.
bootimg.exe --unpack-bootimg boot.img

Sadly for some reason it requires the image being unpacked to be named "boot.img", when it's fully capable of unpacking any "ANDROID!" boot image for both Mediatek and Qualcomm.
I've used it to unpack boot and recovery for a Huawei Y536A1, boot factory laf recovery for a LGL16C, boot dfs dkernel recovery for an Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7". I've never seen it fail to unpack a boot image yet.

I have just ordered this tablet from China, I might need this rom in the next few days. It would be grateful if anyone can upload this rom.
As far as I know there has not been an update released for the US tablet. It's just a matter of time, I hope.
@avocadopat I would say you are better off to leave what you have on the tablet you bought and select English as your language. US software disables 5GHz wifi and no telling what else.
OTA, not full in firmware finder but......
If I put the c128b003 OTA(us version wifi?) update.app in a dload folder on the root directory and did the Vol up, vol down, power button press and it seems to update but the about screen does not reflect this. Any ideas why? Is there a way to flash the update.zip without extracting the update.app from it?

If you look at the content of the update.zip archive, you'll see that it contains a number of .patch files and update.app. These .patch files are actualy the modifications for system and other partitions (patch file name corresponds the partition). They contain only differences between the new version of firmware and your current. Moreover, these patch files can be applied only to a certain version of firmware (the one they're made for). The last question is what is the update.app made for? It is made for updating other partitions, like modem, oeminfo, etc. I think the reason for this is that patch files are made with android build system and other partitions have no relation to it, so they're built somehow else. So, if you say you succeded updating, you actually had updated only service partitions, not the system itself (or maybe you actually had updated even nothing, because we don't know how smart Huawei recovery is).
Well then, I do have the btv-w09c128 and the ota is the c128. How do you update with the full zip then?
My version now is c128b002.
