Hello!
I rooted my Galaxy A5 and after using it couple of hours phone shut off. I cannot turn it on, I plugged it into charger and battery level was 80%. I left it on night to recharge and still 80% but I could use my phone normally. After uploading factory ROM nothing has changed. I've rooted it again and tried Battery Calibration, but it didn't help. I've used *#0228# code and clicked quick start but battery level changed to 87% ant still the same (yeah, I know that now isn't it exact). Now I'm trying to calibrate it with tutorial and see what happens. What can I do next?
Battery Status:
Voltage: 4177 mV ADC: 0
Level: 87%
Level Block: 7 blocks (0~8)
Current Chg ADC :0

Hey guys. I am experiencing the most strange battery problem ever. I am on Darky 10 RC6 with ZSJPG modem. Now I wanted to calibrate my battery so I completely used it till it switched off, turned it on again but it switched off completely indicating that the battery was finished.
Then I plugged in the charger while the phone was off and it started charging. After 5 hours it was still not fully charged, i waited another couple of hours but still not and then when I plugged out the charger and plugged it back again it drained to around 25 % .. I switched on my phone and it shows me a different battery meter everytime I reboot or start again and its not even charging at a good speed now. Please help
Now the phone vibrates in a while by itself and everytime I reboot, I have a massive battery drain of around 10 percent and if I charge my phone it charges so slow, like 4 percent in 1 hour :s
And now ive unplugged the charger and actually the battery meter is increasing. It has increased from 18 to 24 in 20 mins :s
Are you charging by the mains charger or the USB charger ??
how long has this been happening for ? its more likely to be an issue with the rom.
if it bothers you that much, Return to stock rom and compare battery drain..
if battery life is a lot better with stock, the problem is darkys rom, so i would switch to something else.
maybe make your own in the romkitchen.org
I am charging from the main charger, not the usb. It did not happen before, as I have been on the darky Rom since a few months. Even this Rom was flashed 2 weeks ago, this just started last night when I drained the battery the first time to calibrate it, i put it on charge all night only to find it stuck on 75 % after 6 hours or so, when I unplugged the charger and turned on the phone, the battery drained to 25% and that is when all these strange things have started to happen :s
have you tried to wipe battery stats ??
you should do this AFTER calibrating the battery,
otherwise the battery can give false information due to it being confused about its actual percentage
Yes I did, and that has made things worse as the battery meter is now increasing and the phone vibrating after a while by itself when I have the charger plugged in :s .. I think I might need to reflash with a stock Gingerbread ROM and take it from there .. What do you suggest?
Yesterday I've notice it for the first time [1 month old device] - I plug the device on charger when it was ~60% after 1h I came back, turn screen on and notice its 'Charged' - 100%, while it still on charge I've played a little bit with the device and notice the battery is on 65%!
I looked at the GSAM battery logs [of all the battery indicator precents] and notice that it jump from 60% [when I put it on charge] stright to 100%, then it goes down under 60 [while I played with it], also weird thing - at the GSAM graph it shows that the screen was on all the 1h charging time [I can tell the screen was off!].
After reconnect to the charger it went fine [maybe it was fine right after its relized the real precents/indicator].
Anyway - today I've notice a little different thing: while it charges the battery indicator shows 93% for a while, while I'm playing with device [still on charger] then it jumps to 100%.
I looked at GSAM battery indicator history [log] and notice something strange - when the indicator went to 82 it goes up to 83 then goes down to 82, then 83 again, 84, 83, 84, 85, ....93, 100.
At this case seems like the indicator has right on the jump to 100% - I checked it and seems it decreases linearly as it should be.
Don't know why is it happening but at other early log of cherging [on gsam] I notice that other charge had something quite similar - on 81 up to 82 down to 81 up to 82 and continue regular....
- I'm on stock 4.2.2 [no root or other stuff], using only the original charger [1.2A], the battery wasn't heat at all and everything seems fine.
Does any one have any idea why is it happens or any reason for that?
I can say its the first [and second] time I notice it, so its not happens all the time.
BTW - could this behavior damage the battery [for the long term]?
Maybe this is one of the reasons for too many [people in here and outside] having problems of 'damaged' battery, because of not noticing it and keep it in charge while the indicator stuck on xx% but the battery is full (100%)...
Anyway if you are not following the battery indicator- charging/discharging history you'll never notice it.
Had this thing again - few days ago.
I put the charger and notice it jumps stright to 100% 'charged', reconnect the charger and its back charging as usual...
Anyone notice it and/or have any idea why is it happens sometimes ?
Historical phone performance:
Battery usage (slide 1) – phone uses up 21% in 9 hrs incl 1hr screen-on time and 23 minutes talk-time.
Charging (slide 2) - phone reaches peak battery temperature 105F as voltage increases past 70%, then battery temperature lowers. Max charging current 1500 – 2000 millamps, decreases back to zero causing the temperature to falls. Max voltage 3,450 millivolts.
Phone is rooted and generally operates great with very few problems.
The overheating event (slide 3)
9:50pm – placed phone on charger, using phone screen
10:30pm – stopped using phone, left phone on charger (normal routine)
11:20pm – batter reaches peak temperature of 110F as voltage increases past 70% and then battery temperature starts decreasing. Everythign seems normal at this point.
1:45am – battery temperature starts increasing again and increases to peak of 145F battery temp at 2AM. Bounces around in the 140-145F range.for the next three hours
NOTE – Even though at first glance it seems like a battery/charging problem, the current and voltage behave very similar to the previous normal charge. This seems to rule out battery/charging problem (?)
4:40AM – alarm goes off and I awake and find hot phone and unplug it from charger immediately. Took screenshot (slide 7) showing battery temp 135F and cpu temp 174F. (by the way in other screenshots, cpu temp is on the far right of my notification bar, battery level is on far left of notification bar, and battery temp is 2nd from left on notification bar... the battery temp showing on the notification bar in this particular screenshot is not updated yet because I just turned the phone screen on).
From this point on battery temperature drops significantly (in response to unplugging presumably). Note that GSAM battery monitor battery stats are wiped by unplugging charger, can’t retrieve what they were before.
04:52 – took GSAM battery stats approx. 12 minutes after unplugged. (slide 4) - Battery is down to 95% already and 56% used by apps (even though I have had screen on continuously). The two apps sucking up all the juice are Lookout and Mapquest. Lookout has been on for 13 minutes which is the entire time since the stats were reset when the phone was unplugged. Mapquest only shows as being on 10 minutes at this point. I checked GPS at this point and it was definitely enabled (I normally leave it enabled without any problem). I am not positive whether I disabled GPS at this point or not. I didn’t stop the apps… curious to see how they would behave. Turned off phone screen and left it alone approx. 05:05 until..
05:40 – took GSAM battery stats approx. 1 hour after unplugged. (slide 5) Battery is down to 79% (huge drain… I normally get 9hours plus before I get to 79%). Biggest users are again Lookout and Mapquest. Battery temp is 95F (in an ambient temperature around 70F) which is high considering the phone was not being used and not being charged.
05:45 - Uninstall lookout. I may have turned GPS off at this time (if I hadn't already done it at 04:52... not sure). Reboot. After reboot I did note GPS was disabled and Mapquest was not running. Phone has operated normally since (normal battery drain, normal temperatures).
Hypothesis – Rogue apps Lookout and Mapquest? But they didn't overheat much after battery was removed from charger (even though they continued to use abnormal battery). Maybe it only overheats with the combination of both the rogue apps plus the charging?
Also, would seem too coincidentl to have two different rogue apps show up at the exact same time. Maybe at least one of the rogue apps went rogue as a result of the high temperature.?
What do you think?
Update: charged overnight the following night and everything was normal, just like slide 2.
My device is N9005 with stock rom and Towelrooted.
Yesterday night my battery was at 48% so I charged it overnight. I got the notification that charging started. This morning I unplugged the charger, and when I picked up the phone about 1 hour later, I noticed that the battery level was at 86%, which is strange since it has only been on standby.
I checked battery usage and it shows 1 day and 14 hour on battery. this correspondents with the time I plugged in the charger last night.
I plugged in the charger again and notice that it start charging. In battery settings it shows 'charging' but it doesn't reset the timer instead the timer keeps running. The battery level also doesn't increase.
I have switched chargers, cleared cache and rebooted several times already, but no change.
I installed battery calibration, and the app shows that the battery level indeed increase, it went from 3800 mV to 4012 mV in about 30 minutes, but the percentage also doesn't increase and is identical to the stock battery indicator.
Is this a known bug or where should I look at my problem?
A reset would the medicine for your problem backup with titanium and go for it

Been there done that. Flashed the firmware again, same result.
Phone is at the service center now, so will know more in afternoon.
NEXUS 10 Sudden Power Drop 38% to 0% and sudden Power rise from 62% to 100%
Greetings Good People,
My Initial Problem:
32Gb Nexus 10 purchased 2013, original battery failed in late 2017 (flickering screen and shut down at high percentage), first battery replacement fine until May 2019 when Nexus began dying after 30 mins to one hour you tube, jumping down to zero and shutdown (no flickering)
So what did I try:
(All done with original charger)
1. Bought two new OEM Samsung batteries with very recent manufacturer date and replaced twice. Now the nexus dies after 6 hours of you tube showing battery at 38% and then instant Shutdown to 0%, when charging jumps from 68% to 100%
2. Changed Rom's and wiped file structures (All the way from through Base Google Images from 4.2 to 5.1.1 to Lineage, rooted with TWRP and SU) >> Did NOT fix the Problem
2. Clearing battery stats.etc. ( incl completely discharge and Charge and all those cycles usually we do to calibrate the battery) >> Did NOT Fix the Problem - voltage reads almost 4.3 at 100% and less than 3.7V at 0%
3. Changed Multiple chargers (Wall Adapters/ Cable from multiple brands which i have at home.. LG, Samsung etc etc) >> Did NOT Fix the Problem
4. read a post about CPU power consumption and that Older Mother boards might not be providing enough Power to CPU. (This tablet is Old and has been used at least two to three hours a day for the last 6 years) so set CPU max to 1200MHz and Min to 200 with Kernal Editor but still powers off around 38% to zero, and jumps to 100% when charging.
Any other ideas or do we think the motherboard is borked or FUBAR?
