I had installed an audio enhancement app on Yota 1. While surfing some settings a dialog box appeared and read something about having a custom recovery. I don't have a custom recovery installed but I accidentally tapped yes and the phone shut. The volume up button is also broken and I cannot access the stock recovery. How do I recover my phone?

Don't use the power button to select. Use the trackpad

Well first off, you should ALWAYS make nandroid (ROM manager) backups before flashing any ROM, addon, patch, etc.
That aside, you have a few things to do here. If you didn't make a nandroid backup you should download a ROM.zip file from the Dev section (your choice), and put it on your SDcard. Enter the boot loader (from off) by holding vol. down+power, then selecting 'recovery'. Once in recovery, wipe data/factory reset, and then go to 'install zip from SDcard' and select the ROM.zip. Then flash any associated .zip's or anything that the ROM maker suggest. Reboot, and you're good to go in a working ROM. You can now go from there.
Remember, when in recovery you need to use the TRACKPAD and BACK BUTTON to navigate the CWM recovery screen. Using the power button / camera button / menu button will just show/hide the menu or turn the screen off. You can scroll and select with the trackpad, and go back with the 'back' button. Only use these 2. Nothing is wrong with your phone, you're just using the wrong damn buttons.
Your phone is so far from bricked its not even funny. Just follow some basic knowledge on how the recovery and ROM manager works and you'll be back to 100%.
thanks alot guys. i was really high so i started getting paranoid about my phone lol BUT THANK YOU SO MUCH
Power Button just shows the wallpaper, trackpad is where you select for our phone
I have a huge problem...
My milestone 2 went through some water hazard and it had a falty display, so I replaced the display and after that I did a SBF flash to return to original firmware, and to conclude this action I need to access the Recovery Menu, but it seems that my keyboard has some falty keys, including the X one...
There is any way to access recovery menu via bootloader mode, usb, any other button combination to access the Recovery Menu?
Thanks!
Yeah...I have the same problem, and I have bad news. Only way I know is to buy a new keyboard
HI
I have the i9505 samsung s4.
I managed to root it via odin, and flashed the Team win recovery as part of the process. I downloaded root checker and it shows that the device is rooted.
However, when i turn the device off and then try and boot to the custom recover I am finding it impossible.
I hold the volume down, home key then press the power button and keep them pressed. THe phone keeps going to the odin download mode and no further etc. However, I can get to the custom recovery via rom manager. What am i doing wrong??
Using rom manager is fine, however if something goes wrong during a custom rom flash then i will need to use the buttons to boot to custom recovery
Please help
Manny

If you flash Philz recovery you can boot only when you turn off your phone and by Hold and pressing Power+Volumeup . Im Guessing your asking the Extended Power menu Option by Pressing Power and choose restart > There should be Reboot Option IE Reboot,Recovery,Downloadmode. Mate is your phone rooted? If you want an Extended power menu option try to install WannamXposed , and Enable it from there, Make sure to follow hes Tutorial. Have a nice day.

hi it is the same with both custom and stock rom. I am now running paranoid 4.4.2.
The issue is that I need an option to get to recovery using the buttons. There is no issues getting to recovery from the power menu once the phone is running
It is really annoying me now
Thanks
Hello guys !!
I recently flashed the factory image of Lollipop on my nexus 4, since then, I'm encountering a problem while trying to access my stock recovery, i have a screen with a resting droid and an exclamation point saying "No command", I tried to press power button + volume key up, and then I access to a "Android System Recovery <3e>", but I don't know what it is ....
Any help to understand what's happening will be welcome !

The Android System recovery is the stock recovery. Its functionality is quite limited compared to custom recoveries, but still lollipop has added new options there. You are able to get into stock recovery from the dead android screen so you should be fine. If you want more options, flash a custom recovery like twrp.
I want to put a custom ROM on my Nexus 4 (currently unrooted, completely stock Android 5.1.1). Unfortunately, the device has a broken digitizer and about an inch of the screen is irresponsive to touch all the way from left to right (it's pretty much right at the top). Will I ever NEED to press the screen there, during the whole process of unlocking bootloader, putting custom recovery, using said recovery, flashing the ROM, and so on? For example, can you use volume up / volume down to navigate through Clockworkmod, etc?
You don't need touch screen to unlock bootloader, it's all done through volume buttons. As for recovery, use ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) which uses volume rocker navigation.
