My Moto G5 Plus won't update..

So as the title suggests. I bought my phone 2 months ago, and since I got it it hasn't updated once. Nothing, not so much as a security patch or anything.
I've tried googling this but nothing comes up. I obviously check via system update - and it says it's up to date.
My build number ends 137-33.
Android security patch 1st January 2017.
It's not rooted. And all stock.
Is this normal?

My phone came with same build and you're not alone. Twiddling thumbs may help with the long wait, or root and try some custom ROMs. I've got the June 5th security patch running CyberOS which is based on Android 7.1.2 and other custom ROMs are similar. There's a debloated stock ROM based on India's G5+ update (they got one already) with the March patch at least. That said, there are rumbles ours is finally coming soon if you do want to remain stock and get the OTA.

What does it say under Settings > About Phone> Software Channel?

There hasnt been an update for the UK Moto G5 Plus yet.

I asked a similar question in a separate thread and maybe you know, is the update 137-35-5 that is available as a zip able to be flashed over this same build, 137-33 I have now? I unlocked my bootloader but stopped short of flashing twrp or rooting. I think the 35-5 update only has the May security patch only but someone uploaded the full firmware. Any opinions are welcome.

Yeah, I cannot believe that some regions were being updated months ago to March and subsequently May security patches and the UK is still yet to receive any updates at all. Why do manufacturers make their lives so much more difficult by having such variances by region? A single software version for all regions seems to work just fine for Google and their Nexus/Pixel lines.

I fully agree with you mate and i think it is only going to get worse with Lenovo pumping out more and more models.

Moto G5 New Update (March)

Hello,
Motorola started distribiuing March security update for our Motorola G5. I got it yesterday. Reteu - Poland.
Check it out on your Moto phone!

If I'm right that's the second security update this month? I got Jan 1 security update about 2-3 weeks ago

Motorola could be lying about the security updates just to make you feel like they are doing something.
A report has shown alot of manufacturers are pushing out security updates when in fact nothing has changed. (It shows march security patch when the patch hasn't been applied)
Obviously it's unknown if this phone has really been patched or not without someone with the knowledge breaking down the firmware but it's amazing companies actually do this

I've received march update 1 week ago, and I tested it with SnoopSnitch and the patch is complete, my motorola is Moto G5 XT1671 channel tigco Colombia

Same for Spain, I got those two in the past few weeks

I recieved this update on retbr channel 3 weeks ago.

Just appeared this morning on retgb channel, in the UK. On a XT1676.

Has anyone tried using this new android update to revive the bike g5 xt1672 with brick led? I can enter the bootload but at the time of transferring the rom it presents error in the security signature. Help me please?

Are incremental security updates worth going through Odin every time?

I don't know if it's because I have an imported German phone (950F DBT version) on a UK SIM carrier (Three), but I never get phone updates. I had to manually download Oreo (G950FXXU2CRED) about a month ago after waiting a long, long time being on the original firmware my phone came on. I was hoping this would kick start it, but I randomly checked today and saw that G950FXXU2CRF7 came out 27th May - must have been just a couple of weeks after I did CRED!
Having checked the changlist, it's just security updates, and a slightly more stable camera/bluetooth. When I first updated to Oreo I had a bit of a nightmare that was my own fault and downloaded the Three UK firmware that softlocked me and I had to pay £5 to get a fast download (or have no phone for a day), and whilst I fixed it by downloading the German/DBT firmware and everything's fine, it soured me slightly on using Odin to update!
Does this update add anything critical, or can I skip it and potentially even wait for P, whenever that's out?

I had a similar problem.. stuck on a b187 for months (Since Jan 2018) - got so fed up I risked using 'firmware finder' app (which I believe don't work anymore) in August which upped it to B197, but was STILL not getting any updates OTA even though others (in UK) were posting in another thread that they were
So I emailed Huawei customer support asking when UK updates were coming, they replied asking for my IMEA number so that they can check & the very next day I got the B209 OTA update (read my post here) and shortly afterwards I got full updates all the way up to Oreo (B371)
I'm not saying that my Email got the cogs rolling but it was strange after many months, that after just 2 emails (1 asking & 1 with IMEA number) & within a DAY I suddenly got full updates. Maybe you could do the same & see what they say

Oreo was released a pretty long time ago (I wanna say July but something along those lines). Latest update is security patch of December 2018. Update is called 382 (yours is 210).

strange, nothing with the wireless update here. Think it was a long time since i last updated it.

In the update menu, tap the 3 dots on to right corner and select download full update package. I did this in August and got update to oreo, getting all OTA since.
