No Marshmallow update - One (M9+) General

I have had this phone for over a year now and I have not received the marshmallow update. I have not rooted the phone or anything like that. I just want to know how I can get the marshmallow update. Thanks for any help.

Did you ever install a custom ROM or recovery? Also, what is your phone's region? You can find out by powering your phone down, hit col+, vol- and power for about three seconds and wait for the bootloader menu to load, then navigate via the vol buttons to download mode. There you'll find your CID Nr.

My is not rooted and I'm kinda hesitant to do that but I seeing people posting about receiving ota update so I'm curious to know if it's certain regions or is it eventually coming to all regions. I'm located in the Caribbean btw.

[Q] safe mode, getting to fastboot, and returning to stock

I'm having reral trouble gettng my n4 into fastboot. all the buttons work, vol up, vol down and the power on all work fine but if I try and press all 3 simultaneously I just boot the device normally. I've managed to get to fast boot just once in 2 dozen tries. what is the trick? I've tried pushing all 3 at once, I've tied pressing both vol up and down, holding thm, then pressing and holding the power button too. always just vibrates, and boots normally.
just now while trying on the last attempt it booted normally but the screen had 'safe mode' in the bottom left corner. that freaked me a bit. turned it off, then on again and it went away. wtf is 'safe mode' and how did I get it?
I want to...I think...root and flash a rom the proper way, step by step using efrant's guide on here, rather than a script from the toolkit, but since I can't seem to get to fastboot I'm stuck
this is all just to get to 4.3 really....I rooted using the toolkit and OTA updates haven't been running so still on 4.2.1 and thought I should sort that out. had a bit of a 'mare l2 nights agot when I unlocked the bootloader to go about returning to stock and forgot that would wipe the device...losing lat weeks holiday photos in the process I think the tool kit and one press type 'unlock, flash this, flash that etc etc' commands lulled me into not thinking for myself so perhaps I ought to do this properly!
BTW, I'm currently with a locked bootloader, stock 4.2.1 rom, stock recovery reflashed, no su binary (cinfirmed by attempting to run SU app, and it not finding the binary). I've been waiting for the OTA update to push to the device again (I've forced checkins but to no avail) to attempt to run it, should it run properly now or have I to do something more?
You need to hold power and volume down, if that doesn't work then try adb reboot boot loader

thanks. tried holding volume down and then also power as well and again it booted normally. looks like adb commands it is then. bit of a pain to have to hook to a pc to do this....not that I'm a regular custom rom flasher/swapping between roms and nandroid backups etc but it would be handy....I learnt that with my old desire.
has anyone else had problems getting there holding the buttons?
oh and I found what safe mode is from the google nexus 4 site. a mode where the apps don't work so you can check for problems that they may be causing. how I got to it doesn't match with the descried way though...just a weird glitch I guess.
okay I'm all sorted for now. I used the toolkit and flashed the entire set of stock .img after downloading the archive from google
now on 4.3, and as far as I can see that is with stock recovery, system, radio the lot. I've left it unrooted (so no su binary, no busy box, no su app - although the phone is currently synching and downloading my apps again..I guess this will come too) so if I understand things correctly future OTAs will run.
I've left the bootloader unlocked as efrant, in his 'how to' guide says
'Do NOT re-lock your bootloader after you are finished. The is no need. 2) Having an unlocked bootloader does not affect anything related to the ROM/GoogleWallet/OTAs. Nothing at all.' and he explains that unlocking in the future to enable fastboot commands to work and hence flash roms in the future results in a wipe of data. So...I think...I'm up to date, stock, safe and future OTAs will run....i hope. I do understand though, that should the device need to back to Google I should relock the bootloader first or they will know I've been playing around (where possibly I shouldn't!)
okay....think I can go ahead and set up again. :victory:
Ooo good! and whatever I've done I can get into the bootloader fine now :victory: simply holding vol down and then pressing and holding the power button now works every time. good.

how do I cancel software updates in recovery?

My phone is rooted and I've accidently click on Install Update and now my phone is rebooting into recovery and trying to install the updates. I've taking the battery out but everytime I put it back it goes to recovery again. How can I cancel this update? I don't want to loose root. Currently running 4.4.3. TIA.
Samething happened to me and now I'm stuck without root on 4.4.4 1st update got installed and 2nd update failed.
Figured it out, take out the battery, hold down home + volume down + power, it goes to custom OS with triangle and exclamatory, press volume down to cancel. Phone reboot with software update unsuccessful.

[GUIDE] Install Official Lollipop on P900 & TWRP & Root

Update Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 P900 to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop
(Not Tripping Knox)
Make sure you downloaded and installed the Samsung usb drivers beforehand (http://www.android.gs/download-samsung-usb-drivers-for-android/)
Download the firmware and extract it. ( http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-P900 or https://www.samdownloads.de/downloads/sm-p900/) (For USA users with tripped knox (no OTA update) just odin the "cellular south" SM-p900 5.0.2 sammobile rom.)
Download ODIN v3.09 (http://androidhost.org/PVAIv)
Reboot your phone into download mode. Do this by first switching off the phone, then pressing and holding the volume down + home button together and then pressing the power button. Press power again to enter download mode. (If you have problems go to the Troubleshoot section)
Open ODIN on your computer. You’ll see the ID:COM box turning yellow with a COM port number upon successful connection with the phone.
In ODIN click the AP button, select the extracted firmare file from step 2. It's a tar.md5 file
Make sure Auto Reboot & F. Reset Time options are selected in ODIN
Click on the start button. When the process is completed your phone will reboot. To confirm update Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 P900 to Android 5.0.2 official firmware simply check the settings > about.
How To Install TWRP + ROOT On Lollipop
(Tripping Knox)
Due To different bootloaders On Lollipop, installing TWRP is slightly different:
Download the twrp.tar (https://dl.twrp.me/v1awifi/twrp-2.8.7.0-v1awifi.img.tar.html) on your pc and supersu.zip (http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu) on your device. Also, download odin on your pc
Open odin on your pc.
Put device into download mode by turning off the tablet first. Then hold power, home, volume down button all at the same time till download mode comes up.
Hit volume up to continue
Connect tablet to pc.
Hit the ap or AP button in odin.
Select the twrp recovery tar.
Untick auto reboot in odin
Hit start and let it flash all the way
Now force reboot by holding power, home, volume up buttons at the same time till it reboots.
Hit install button in twrp.
Select the supersu zip you downloaded
Swipe to install and reboot.
Troubleshooting:
Q: Can't boot into TWRP
A: In ODIN, uncheck automatic reboot then flash TWRP. So you have enough time to get ready to reboot into TWRP directly after ODIN finishes.
After TWRP is flashed, press power+vol.up buttons and hold them until the Samsung Logo appears then release them.
You should then automatically go into TWRP. Once into TWRP, you can install the root.zip file.
Q: Lollipop is unstable, I get force closes or the whole ROM is just bull****!
A: Go to Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up+Power buttons together.
Now, perform Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition task before selecting the reboot system now option. In Recovery Mode use the Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select any option.
Q: Can't go into Download Mode
A: Actually on most devices, if you really press the three buttons constantly, it will reboot forever and not go into the download mode. It's better if you turn off your device completely, then press home, volume down. Keep them pressed. Now press the power button too. You're holding down all tree buttons now. The device boots about a second after you see the boot-logo, stop pressing the power button, but keep holding home and volume down. If it's not working try releasing the powerbutton earlier, or later than advised. But keep Home and Volume Down pressed constantly.
Q: Can't flash TWRP, it keeps booting into stock recovery!
A: Disable the Autoreboot option in ODIN
any impact on Knox?

Yes it does!
Nice guide btw and hope we can see deodex guide soon [emoji106]
Thank you for this.
I used to really get into this stuff when I had my OG Droid but these days I can't devote the time to it like that. This guide was clear and worked exactly like it said it would.
Great thread - very helpful - I did have issues when flashing twrp - learned a lesson - make sure you read the whole thread. I didn't at first - I figured I had flashed TWRP so many times I knew what to do - but it didn't work - each time ODIN auto rebooted and I tried to go to recovery - it was back on stock recovery.
THEN I read the whole thread - and did what you said - uncheck Auto Reboot - and do the three finger reboot to recovery - home, power volume up - and viola' it worked just as advertised. Thanks for the guide - very useful!
EDIT - I am having issues and not sure what to do - when I attempt to make a nandroid in TWRP - before flashing a new rom - the backup ran for over 10 minutes and would not finish. its like it is hung up on the last step of the backup or somehting - looks like it is still backing up - but it never changes, Any suggestions?
EDIT 2- I was able to create a backup on internal SD Card - but all attempts to back up to EXT SD Card failed - has this happend to anyone else?
piece o cake. easier than juggling cfautoroot. Thanks dude.
P.S. For USA users with tripped knox (no OTA update) just odin the "cellular south" SM-p900 5.0.2 sammobile rom.
Im not sure where I keep going wrong. Im trying to get into download mode. If I hold the power, volume down, and home button the tablet constantly reboots.
If I release the home button after a few seconds I wind up in download mode.
What am I doing wrong?
Billinaz, try powering down completely first. Then while it's off press all 3 buttons.

Sounds like you can Flash and root without tripping the Knox Counter ... Why I never heard before about "Mobile ODIN" that do the same?

what kind of Region i need to download if my is not in the list?
im from israel, my current Version is P900ZSUANH2, what region i need to download for upgrade to lolipop? is there a difference?
Is it possible to just update to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and not do the other part? (Rooting and such)
Also, is it possible to change the language when updated or will I be stuck with the language of the version I use to update with?

Yes it is! I just updated my stock 4.4.2 (Netherlands) to 5.0.2 using the Korean (BOG) version. Installed it with Odin and about 30 minutes later all apps were updated and my P900 is now a much improved one!
I was reluctant to do this as I feared Iwould lose my data and had to start from scratch, but as a very pleasant surprise all is preserved and all apps are working fine!
And it is really worth doing the upgrade, it is much smoother and access to SD is finally usable.
About language you can choose this again when 5.0.2 boots, the list was extensive, I saw Dutch was there too, but I stuck to English...
So I'm happy with 5.0.2, not rooted and fully stock, and typing this on my Logitech bluetooth keyboard!

Nope!
I don't usually comment here but I had to say thank you so much for this! Whole thing went smoothly and the tablet feels a lot snappier and less laggy now, which is a nice change (although it might just be a placebo).
I installed the Korean BOG version as well on my Australian tablet. It was the only one that would flash out of the 5.0.2's on Sammobile, the rest failed every time. I use a bluetooth keyboard and it still works - its a chinese cheap thing, works great. I had to do a factory reset to get everything running smooth again. There is English in the language options, but only UK English, which is ok for Australia. I do want to root though but one of the ways that wont trip knox. Previously I used kingroot, but it hasn't got a solution this time.

[Q] ZC520TL - Recover half-brick Zenfone Max 3

Hello to everyone,
I received a system notification this morning which was telling me that there was a new software update for the Zenfone 3 Max. So I've clicked on it to update the system, and, during the update, something went wrontg and it "crashed", rebooting in a strange korean (?) screen:
Now I can't boot properly the Zenfone and if I try to move inside the screen it just changes some english text from eMMC or FM to BT or GPS. It's like it is doing a device check and something isn't working.
It can't be turned off, so I just let the battery go dead to see if this would fix the issue.
I've charged it while it was switched off, and after a couple of minutes it turned on with the same korean (?) screen. I've also tried the hard reset by keeping pressed the power on button, but it only went off.
The last thing I've tried is to connect it via USB on my laptop while it is in this strange screen and checked that is recognised by the ADB. I've never unlocked the bootloader or ever rooted this model, so the response of the command "adb devices" is a model and the text "Unauthorized".
Is it something that I can actually do? I'd like to try an hard reset or force it to go in recovery mode and try to reinstall the firmware... but since the device is "unauthorized" I'm not sure that it will let me flash the firmware...
Do you have any advice on how to handle this situation?
Thanks in advance
(I do apologize for my grammar mistakes)
My English is really really bad, so try to understand this
Frst if ur phone is hang or stock in any ways u can reboot or power it off by pressing the power button for atleast 10 sec. Press and hold.
Second u can reinstall the firmware in any case even if ur phone is dead.
Frst u need to install the usb driver
https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=...AFIAVgC&v=y-oDWXbhiC0&mode=NORMAL&app=desktop
Then u can reinstall the firmware using the following files

First of all, thank you for the explanation, as far as I've searched this seems to be the "factory mode" screen of the asus zenfone max 3 with the chinese language setted... And the fact is that this mode is used for test purposes only, in fact if I randomly choose any option it just seems to test a random phone function. Anyway, I've tried to reboot it by choosing the 8th option, which is supposed to reboot the phone normally, and it kept on going in that screen again. I've also tried to reboot by forcing the reboot via (Vol Down + Power) buttons together.. and for my bad luck it still resets in this "factory mode".
I watched the video and not sure about it because I'm not familiar with SP Flash Tool: does my zenfone needs to have the bootloader unlocked? or it should have been rooted? Will I be able to flash the firmware while the phone is in the status, even if in ADB devices it is shown as "Unauthorized" ?
I'm asking all these questions because I've never done any firmware operations on this smartphone, I've only made ordinary system updates.
Thanks in advance for your patience and your attention!
Pressing volume down + power is going to that screen. I dont know if Chinese or Korean
Pressing volume up + power key for default recovery mode screen,
Press and hold the power key is for normal boot.
I dont know if zen3max need a bootloader unlock.
Because im able to install a custom recovery in my zen3max and my phone is rooted and im able to install back the stock recovery so i dont get any trouble Everytime i received a notification update.
Well if u r worried. Get another smartphone and use the google translator with the camera to translate that Chinese language on ur zenfone 3 max. Maybe u can find the format option or clear cache blah blah blah.

When you said that volume down + power key is the combo of keys to press to go in that screen... it kinda rang me a bell: recently my smartphone fell and it got damaged on the right edge, causing the volume down button to get inside the cover, and now it is like unpushable... I've never powered off my zenfone until I had to do this system update. So I thought that probably there isn't anything wrong with the firmware, it just keeps going in factory mode each time I try to power it on due to the fact that the volume down seems to be pressed all the time. So I decided to contact the ASUS support team to give it to them and let them repair the buttons.
Thanks for the info!
so must be thats the problem boot looping in to that screen because the volume down is broken. I guess.
Well thats the best u can do to fix it.

p9 stuck in "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" help!!!!!

Im sorry if i type bad but im so frustrated and sad right now.
I downloaded "SRKToolHuawei-STABLE-V1.3-20160619"
My phone was already unlocked so i relocked it again.
that went well
But then i unlocked it again and now its stuck on your device is booting now...
So i restarted it many times now and nothing is happening.
I cant fastboot cause it says my phone couldn't be found.
I need help! i just got this phone and im so stressed right now. Any help will be appreciated! Thank you!
Edit:
Just to make it clear. I was trying to install TWRP.
Im new to this and everything was so messy.
I flashed it a bunch of times but it didn't install so i relocked it and unlocked it and this happend.
currently im waiting for it to drain and ill see what happens
Hello. Long press POWER to reboot and then release and quickly long press both VOL+ and VOL- simultaneously. It should appear an update screen with a failed message and –the most important thing– a restart button at the bottom. Press it.
Now the phone should start Android normally...

I think i know what i did wrong.
it was a old version of twrp i think. so it couldn't boot into it. so i had wait for it to drain and then boot it up again. I got trwp working now!
Hi! I have the same problem. The phone was drained but when i charge It again It tries to start normally, but then starts trying ti enter into recovery again.
so who did you solve It exactly?
what buttons did you pushed when the phone starts again?
Thani you
For anyone pretty much, who has ****ed up his Huawei P9:
I got to the state where I could only enter Fastboot mode (Press vol- and connect power cable). When I tried to start the phone / go into recovery it would only display the "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" Message. My mistake was to relock the bootloader in an attempt to get the recovery to work.
I looked for hours for the answer, here is what worked for me:
follow this tutorial (the "update firmware" part)
German
English
But with real precision, every step.
If you have a european unbranded L09 you should be fine using the firmware you can find on this site:
https://thedroidguru.com/download-install-huawei-p9-b394-nougat-update-europe/
if not you gotta find the full firmware (3 files!!) yourself - good luck!
If you only want to go back to stock you should be fine afterwards.
If you want to install twrp for root/custom rom/... follow these steps after installing twrp with the tool:
Upon flashing TWRP, FIRST THING YOU MUST DO is rebooting to TWRP. If you don't do that, stock Recovery will ovewrite TWRP.
Find instructions in the TWRP threads how to enforce immediate booting to TWRP, upon you flashed it:
-Type on the PC: fastboot reboot -but don't press Enter yet.
-Press and keep pressing Vol+ and Power buttons together on the phone
-Press Enter on the PC and then immediately unplug USB cabel.
-When phone shows Booting, release Power but keep pressing Vol+. button
Hope this helps, I don't take responsability for anything, happy flashing!
