Hello
I just tried to move from Nexus 6P to Galaxy S8. In the initial setup of the S8, after logging on to Wifi and then my Google account, I could not select restore from my Nexus 6P backup?
I can select my LG G4 and also Samsung Tab S2. But not my Nexus 6P which is my daily driver and the one I want to copy all apps an appdata from.
Is it not possible because the 6P uses Android 8.0 and the S8 uses 7.0?

I am trying to migrate from my Nexus 9 to this new tablet. I tried all the options and there's no automatic restore kicking in.
I have tried
Set up near-by device
Just sigining in with my google account and there's no prompt to restore from backup.
There's no restore option under google in setting either
Does this tablet not support this basic Android feature.
I was able to use my phone as a "nearby device" and for the most part it figured out my apps and background and installed them all. It did not move pics or videos but that is all on Drive anyways. Make sure both devices are on WiFi, I noticed it won't work on phones when they are on cellular.

That's strange. I did the nearby device and finished the wizard but nothing was trigger on the Mediapad. The wizard finish without installing anything.
At the first try I only got 3 apps of 130+ installed from my previous LG GPad 8.3 tablet. I did a factory reset to try again and no apps got installed at all so I used 'My App List' to download all my apps and set them up manually.
Hi, guys!
I'm in the process of migrating from my N6P to a G5 Plus. When setting up the G5 Plus, Google didn't show me the backup set for my (stock, out of the box) N6P. Instead, it's only showing me the backup set for the phone prior to the N6P. I was able to examine that backup set (because Google gave me the option to pick-and-choose which apps I wanted to restore to the G5 Plus). It is an old backup set, missing about half of the apps I currently use (some of which are paid versions).
I've had the N6P doing Automatic Backups from Day #1. The settings have been (and still are)
Back up my data: ON
Backup account is correct
Automatic restore: ON
So, if any of you have any ideas of how I can get my G5 Plus to find my N6P backup set, so that I can properly set up my G5 Plus, I would really appreciate it.
BTW, as I was having trouble with the set up, on about attempt #5, my G5 Plus showed me an option to set up the G5 Plus using the Bluetooth Nearby Device feature. Make sure you have any existing Bluetooth connections or devices turned off (my headphones were inadvertently still on and commandeered the connection from the other room). But this feature worked a treat in moving my Google credentials over to the G5 Plus. Sadly, this still didn't help me with the backup data.
I know this is more of a Google question than perhaps a device question, but the rules suggest I ask here first. (If you all have a better suggestion for my thread location, I'm open to it.)
Thanks in advance for your help!
An update: In discussing this with others, it seems the culprit may be the fact that my N6P is Android v. 7.1.2 and the G5 Plus is on v. 7.0. Some people told me that when they were playing with the beta version of 7.1, they weren't able to restore their 7.1 backups to 7.0 phones.
Unless you all have any better suggestion, it seems I will have to manually set up this phone and lose some (hopefully, little) app data. I'll be using the Search function to research backup apps for this phone.

I've used titanium backup for years.
If you want free and a little more work.. helium works fine too.

This is frustrating!
I have just purchased a Samsung galaxy s7 edge and am trying to transfer all my apps, accounts and settings to it.
For whatever reason when I set the phone up (UK exynos version) it does not show any of my devices?
I tried using the smartswitch app from the playstore but it is not available for the oneplus 3 devices?????
Has anyone swapped from a Oneplus 3 or 3t to an S7 Edge successfully and if so would you mind sharing how you did it.?? Thanks.

Anyone have an idea.
Because the Os is different the best you can do is to back up the apps using a program like titanium pro or system tuner pro on your phone. Then copy the back upped directory to your computer.
Download back up program you used to your phone, then recopy the directory on to your new phone.
then download the app and go to your back up program and click restore data.
you cannot use the apps as configured on your oneplus because the file structure and the way it is used is different from the OS used on samsung.
The best you can hope for is the data is transferred to your new phone.
So theres a port of Note 8 Live messages feature working on S8. Im FAIRLY certain its working on s7 edge but I cant get the 3 required apks to install. I get the familiar "package name conflict" error. This is supposed to happen but can be resolved by disabling secure startup, reboot then quickly install the apps. I still cant install them.
Im hoping someone has a tip to make them install...
But Id also appreciate confirmation that the Live messaging feature actually works. Thanks
I have a galaxy s7 edge, and I did manage to get the apks to install (I had secure startup toggled off, and toggled it on before restarting and quickly installing). However, when I try to use live messages, the app crashes whenever I hit "done" after drawing a message, rather than successfully attaching and sending the message. Not sure if this is a unique issue to my device, or if these apks really only work for the galaxy s8.
No no no. I guess it is missing some files
I have a S7 Edge, and I successfully installed all 3 apk's designed for the S8. The live message loads up, but when I tap done, it crashes. I'm sure it's because of the fact that live message was designed for android 7.1, the version that the note 8 came with out of the box. Right now, 14/02/18, the S7 Edge is stuck on 7.0. Although it's believed that Samsung is testing 7.1 or might update right to 8.0 for the S7 Edge. Hopefully, the update will support the live message better.
:fingers-crossed:
Has anybody got this live message working with the s7 edge yet? The android oreo update has been around so maybe worth a check if somebody has it installed?
These apk work on my galaxy a7 2016 (except for the neural keyboard) live messages work even on the standard keyboard. Just update it to the most current version and you're done. I think it will work fine on s7.

It installs but only comes up on neural keyboard. However it just crashes and does not send
Hello everybody, I have sold my pixel 3, but I will get my pixel 4 at the end of the week. How can I migrate my apps + settings as completely as possible? Does the Google-Drive-Backup do anything for me? 3rd party apps? Pixel 3 is not unlocked and not rooted, Pixel 4 will not be either.
Thanks!
Jens

You could try something like Swift Backup, I use it quite often and seems to work well
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.swiftapps.swiftbackup
It should be same thing as a factory reset.
You will have to select the last backup made by you, and that backup will contains list of app to be installed, wifi networks, sms, wallpaper, some app settings (like Pixel launcher, with your icon locations), etc.
As for the "files" I recommend to copy them to a PC, clean what you don't need, and then copy back to the Pixel 4.

If you can hold off on sending the P3 to the buyer that would be your best option. You connect the two devices and almost everything, including text, pics etc. are copied to the new device. If you can't do that then Google backup is kind of ok. You'll get a bunch of stuff but not text messages and a few other settings. There you can use sms backup or some other program. Good suggestion copying stuff you want to your computer too just in case. Logins and passwords are not copied over in either case, you'll need to set those up again or use autofill. I also sold my P3 but had transferred everything over to my 3a for DSDS. I'll have the P4 next week and will then sell the 3a or keep it as a backup device depending on what I can get for it. Good luck, I think you made a good decision but we'll find out soon enough.
