Hello.
Sorry for my English.
I have a problem with galaxy s4 consisting in that:
2G network works without problem, 4G LTE network will work fine, it will switch to 3G network, it displays no network or normal range but can not make outgoing and incoming calls. When trying to manually set the network is the same. 2G and 4G work without problems, but when the 3G is set to reach range, but when you try to ring immediately disconnect. Sometimes the message says that you can not connect to the network. I tried with the same card on the second S4 and it works fine. The rest of the sim card was replaced with a new one. APN configuration has been resumed. It has also been changed to the same system with the XEO-I9505XXUHPK2 modem. I also tried another I9505XXUHOH2 modem but then no network worked. I also called the operator and accepted the application but it was a problem with the phone. I put another card and once it worked but it was very weak to me (interrupted). The owner of the phone was also at the service they exchanged ... charging socket.
Please help because the phone must be ready for tomorrow evening.
Regards
Hi,
A bit late, but open up the dialer and type: *#06#
Does it show an IMEI number? If so, does it start with 0049?

i own a samsung galaxy s2 ordered from uk,
everything working fine except for this serious issue that i have been trying to resolve till now.
i have a monthly internet subscription from my carrier and it always been working fine on my iphone ( i mean here connecting through the 3g network ). but in the S2 .. i have to use Edge to be able to access the internet ( the mobile network mode must be set to GSM only ). whenever i switch the network mode to GSM\WCDMA auto , the 3g icon appears but when it tries to connect to internet, the phone automatically switch to Flight mode and i loose the network signal. and this happens all the time. till now i am only able to connect to the internet by switching the mobile network mode to GSM only which only uses Edge network .
i have tried every possible thing to resolve this issue but nothing worked for me. please help
What country are you in? What carrier are you on? What bands do they use?
location location location.
Where are you from?
And what frequency does operators in your region operate.
just curious, have you tried hard/factory reset?
i am from saudi arabia and i am using Mobily network.
mobily is using HSDPA network as well as Edge network.
i did a software reset and still the same issue.
phone information:
Baseband version I9100XXKDH
Kernel version 2.6.35.7--I9100XWKDD-CL161513
Build Number GINGERBREAD.XWKDD
crazy idea - is there any blocking going on in SA or with that carrier? Have you used another not carrier supplied smartphone successfully on that network?
I have been always using their 3g network on my iphone. And still there network only on edge connection on the s2. What i have noticed is that the saved apn sometimes shows up and sometimes disappears

Hi, very similar issue here.
For this four days since I have got my GS2 everything was just fine. The data connection and 3G speed was great. Yesterday, all of the sudden all got crappy. Could not display any web pages. It starting to display page but after few seconds pop-up window appear which say "Data connectivity problem. The server failed to communicate. Try again later"
Interesting that my gmail, market, xda app working fine as normal.
I'm in Ireland on O2 now.
Baseband version I9100XXKDH
Kernel version 2.6.35.7--I9100XWKDD-CL161513

Can someone help to solve the problem, please. Is it possible that something with the hardware is wrong? Broken?
I'll perform the factory reset and will let you know.
i just managed to flash my device with the latest EXE1 dated May 3.
and i am still facing the exact same problem.

I have same issue, and for Ihrrob, your other application are working fine because what i noticed on my mobile that 3G & 2G connection is there but not permenant that's why WIFI hotspot always disconnect and VOIP applications are not working.

You are right the 3G/2G connection is there but not permanent.
If I press the Internet icon the home page, which is 'Google' appears (sometimes) immediately. I think this is because the page is very light. If I try to open a regular page it loads 1/3 of the content or nothing.
i just hope it is a software bug not a hardware problem
Type on the dialpad *#*#4636#*#* and force the phone to HSDPA only on the dropdown menu. This is a hidden menu on the phone.
Isn't this carrier related?

Unfortunately not.
I have spoke to the rep in the store. They reset all settings for me but it didn't help.
Just to double check if he wasn't wrong I've put the sim card in to my N900 and all data worked fine.
Bad, bad...

I'm on Mobily network in Riyadh, and 2G/3G is working fine for me. I stay on 2G most of the time to save battery, but have tested 3G and got around 3mbps.
I have the same Baseband, Kernel and Build number (rooted)
Are you using "Market Enabeler"? It can change your APN settings, and you need to restore the provider setting.
just rooted my device.
still same weird issue.
issue again: simply whenever my device tries to connect to H+ , the device automatically enters flight mode and automatically disable flight mode so that the signal bars come back without H+ and when i check back the saved APN i see nothing there ( thought i was there before ). and this strange behavior disappears when i switch the mode from GSM/WCDMA auto TO GSM only .. after i do this the device connects regularly to Edge network and i can browse the net.
so basicaly for me i will be only able to use the device on Edge instead of HSDPA or 3G.
im really hoping for help from here because i don't think i will find any help outside of this expert community.
regards
try to make it on obligatory 3G (WCDMA only) and check if the problem still there ..
still same problem juffo
i have noticed that another post are poping up talking about almost the same issure.
i hope a new firmware will fix this
Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 and the problem which I am facing is regarding network. The problem is that the network I am using has weak signals inside my house but still there are signals.
Now what my mobile does on weak signals is keep on switching network operators to other carriers and when I try to make a call it says not registered on network although it is showing signals.
I tried to find a solution online which said go to network operators and choose your network manually which did worked but due to low signals sometimes my mobile goes out of coverage and then samsung s4 again changes the settings from manual to automatically and again it switches to another network where Not Registered On Network problem arises.
Do we have any method or app other than manual selection of network operator to lock a operator down or a method which does not allows others networks to be connected because on my LG P-700 when I try to switch networks it says we could not connect that is why there is no issue on that set but my s4 shows signals while it is not registered on any network. Confusing.
So is there a lock or method do let me know.
Thank You
Hi Everyone,
I'm usually just a reader on XDA, but I have found a problem that appears not to have been solved and wondered if anyone had any insight.
Problem Summary
When in an area (or network) with only HSPA and UMTS (strong HSPA/UMTS signal, but with no LTE or 2G available), the phone will drop from H+ to 3G erratically, always dropping the data connection. Traditional phone calls are not affected.
Detailed Description
I have a OnePlus Two and have 2 SIM cards. My first SIM Card is with Bell Canada (Virgin), and the second SIM Card is with WIND Mobile Canada.
Neither Bell nor WIND operate a 2G network, so the lowest the service can fall to is UMTS/3G.
Initially, I didn't notice the problem because Bell also operates an LTE network, and there is no problem with dropping the data connections when on LTE.
When I switched to the WIND SIM card (which only operates HSPA and UMTS), I noticed a problem where the phone would initially connect to H+, begin downloading whatever is needed (say, streaming music), but then part way through the download, the connection would switch to 3G, and the data would effectively stop. Within a minute, the service would jump back to H+ and download some more, but this cycle would continue (H+ --> 3G --> H+ --> 3G... ), with no way of knowing 1) how long the H+ connection would last before dropping to 3G (usually less than 30 seconds), and 2) after dropping to 3G, how long before going back to H+. This problem makes the phone almost useless when there is no LTE.
The most obvious troubleshooting I did was move to locations of better signal but I quickly ruled that out, as nothing seems to remove this problem. Other things I tried was to: move locations in the city, reboot phone, hard reset phone, flash most updated version of Oxygen, unlock bootloader, root, try the HSPA Keepalive app, swap SIM1 to SIM2, and many other things.
I originally thought this was a network issue, but I put this WIND SIM in another phone and there was no problem in any way that resembled this problem.
I also ruled out this being a network-specific problem, as I have taken a trip with the Bell SIM to an area where Bell does not have any LTE coverage (only HSPA and UMTS) and the same problem occurs on Bell as with the WIND SIM.
I have found people who had this problem on the OnePlus One tend to recommend using 2G to stabilize the connection, but this is not possible on Bell or WIND. That solution also would not provide adequate data speeds.
Remember this problem only affects data connectivity, as 3G traditional phone calls have no problems.
Question
Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the conditions when the OnePlus Two will choose to switch from H+ to 3G?
Does anyone have any easier suggestions?
Thank you all in advance, because this rendering this phone almost useless when there is no LTE coverage.
I believe your problem is that phone it's dualsim standby, that means only one modem that alternates signal for both sims, I think normal would be alternating from faster network to slower network on sim without data.
Having to change to g3 between sims theres something stoped in the modem and data connection is also stopped.
You have no problem with voice calls because other sim is automatically turned off and unreachable.
There's nothing you can do if you're forced to only 3g on both sims
By 3g I mean 3g or h+ which to my knowledge are the same
Hope I was helpful and not wrong or more confusing

Thanks, I will try disabling the second SIM to see if there is a bug with the dual-sim...
What it currently does with the second SIM is it either shows "R" for roaming or just emergency only, but perhaps there is a software issue so I'll see if disabling the second SIM makes a difference.

Though strange, this workaround fixes the issue. Thank you to fburgos for the suggestion!
So just in case anyone ever finds this issue creeps up on them, the solution is to DISABLE the SIM you are not using. It's not the most convenient workaround to swap SIMs, but the other SIM will be in Emergency Mode, so it really makes no functional difference.
On the technical side, it does appear that there is actually a bug in Android for a very uncommon network configuration. It will only appear in this exact configuration:
SIM1: Network has HSPA/3G only, no LTE or 2G to move to
SIM2: Network also only has HSPA/3G with no LTE or 2G
The non-data SIM does NOT connect to a roaming network (connects with "Emergency Only") - if it connects to a roaming 2G network, this problem does not happen.
The data SIM connects to HSPA/3G
Both SIMs are active
I'm not sure if this will happen anywhere else in the world other than having a WIND Mobile Canada SIM and Bell or TELUS Canada SIM
If anyone has insight on how to report this to Google, or someone else who can confirm my theory, that would be great!
Try this:
1. You need to make sure you have the correct LTE APN selected in mobile networks and LTE as preferred type.
2. Go to dialer and type in this: *#*#4636#*#*
3. Phone Information
4. Set Preferred Network Type to: LTE/GSM (PRL) - you an play with which one you wanna use but the one I said works for sure. on other roms I have" TD-SCDMA, GSM/WCDMA and LTE"
5. Now click TURN OFF RADIO and wait WAIT few secs. will that button turns to Turn Radio ON
6. Now TURN ON RADIO and wait
7. when u see the triangle for the signal is back, at least black , go down and lick SMSC REFRESH then UPDATE.
8. now just go back to APN settings and go into your LTE APN
9. Change Bearer to LTE

I have the same problem. Do you already have solved it?
I use only one SIM card so it is not a problem two cards.
really you do not have this problem? if no one knows the solution?
compared with my htc butterfly 2 and another low-end android, one plus 2 running latest Oxygen OS has serious connectivity issues. I compared the signals strength using same sim card in same location (including being connected to the same tower) and One Plus 2 keeps dropping the connection and has really poor signal strength. I have tried the *#*#4636#*#* and tried different network modes, but none of them are helping. Its a real disappointment that the basic feature of this phone is screwed up.
I have tried with CM13 as well. Any ideas if this is a modem version issue?

Hi everyone !
Lately I went to a place were 3G/4G was not reachable and it is there that i noticed that my brand new Moto X play couldn't get any connection in 2G (GSM) mode even if the place was fully covered with 2G/EDGE (GSM)...
In 3G/4G there is no problem only on 2G (GSM).
I tried in the settings to put 2G (GSM) only and I can not get any signal even now that i'm back home ....
I tried a factory reset from the recovery it did not work :crying: Do you have an idea on how to solve that problem ?
I also tried to use the sim card with another phone in 2G (GSM) and there it works fine with maximal signal ....
Thanks !
Hallo,
I did a test and I got the same "problem".
Turned 4G into 3G...no problem.Still connected..
Turned 3G into 2G....no signal.
Turned 4G into 2G..no signal.
You can try to switch networktype in *#*#4636#*#*
No time for me now....I will try it later on the day.

I just tried it and turned the networktype to "GSM only" then i got no signal just like before. If i try to use another type like CDMA/GSM it connects to 3G and works but still the problem with the GSM/2G....
Hi guys. I'm not experiencing this problem on my XT1562. switching between bands is fine and working on my device. What kernels are you guys using?
I'm using the stock kernel, I just flashed the OTA (6.0.1) from the stock recovery
Same Problem, more information
For my Moto Play X I have a very similar problem:
4G works, but 3G and 2G do not. If I'm connected to a 4G network, I see that there is reception and can use all data transfer functions. But when I want to do a call, I get a timeout. When I'm in a place where there is no 4G network available, I see that I don't have signal - but the network is shown in the list of available networks for manual selection.
As I have a dual SIM variant (stock ROM, not a custom modification or "upgrade") my second SIM does work like a charm. I tried now and swapped the SIMs - and it seems that just the SIM1 slot is having those problems. The same SIM also works perfectly in the second SIM slot.
I also tries to reset just the network settings (an option provided by the stock ROM) but this didn't change anything.
Next step I'm currently working on is doing a factory reset - will take a while until backup and restore will enable me to see the real result. I'll keep you up to date....
UPDATE: factory reset didn't change anything - will send phone to repair now. :,-(
I bought a brand new factory unlocked Galaxy S10+. I popped in my Tmobile sim card but my calls goes to voice mail and I can't make any calls in following conditions.
I also tried Verizon sim and it acts the same way so not sure if network is the culprit.
1) When the wifi is on, my phone identifies network as I see 'Tmobile' in screen, signal strength is '-113 dBm 0 asu' but no actual incoming/outgoing call.
2) When the wifi is off, but screen is locked for 3-4 min, I still see 'T-mobile' but no incoming/outgoing call. Also, the service state changes 'In service' to 'Out of service' intermittently where I have to toggle aeroplane mode.
So, I have to toggle aeroplane mode on/off to get the network back while wifi is off, signal strength is '-81 dBm 59 asu' then everything works normally until I lock the screen as in step 2 or use wifi as in step 1.
This is my second replacement phone and it is behaving the same way as the first one. So, I am not sure if I am having bad luck with Samsung phones or if something is funky with my network. I also have a S9+ which has no issues at all with same sim cards and network coverage is excellent in my area.
Any idea or suggestion would be really helpful. Not sure if I should just change the firmware from U1 to Tmobile or something.
I would check your APN settings to verify that they are correct. I am on T-Mobile network with U1 firmware and have no issues with calls (I'm on MintSim which uses the T-Mobile network) but when I popped in my SIM no T-Mobile APN settings autopopulated--I had to enter the APN settings manually.
You should also make sure Volte is enabled in the network settings and WiFi Calling is enabled in the dialer settings.

Thank you for your response. My T-mobile APN settings auto populated and looks fine as I have LTE connection. The issue is that the connections keeps dropping and all my calls goes to voicemail in above two scenarios.
If the LTE didn't work at all or if my calls went to voicemail all the time, I would understand that some settings are not setup properly. But it works intermittently. Since, this is the second Galaxy S10+ with same exact issue, I am not sure if there is a issue with device or carrier.
