es file explorer not extracting rar files in sd card - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

the es file explorer is not able to extract zip files in sd card and gives error EXCEPTION FOUND! ( Failed to create the path: /storage/5E98-DFFO/roms and gapps/zips/dolby-atmos_r6.5/addon.d) . Also the explorer can extract files in the internal memory.... i have been using it for a long time and never encountered this problem and now im suddenly facing this issue....i have tried other roms as well but this prolem still persists.

For some reason, in my old phone the extracting works just fine. But on my new phone this error message shows up. It seems there is no other way to fix it than downloading ZArchiver :'(

file explorer problem

I'm having problems using my file explorer. Once i used it either by deleting files or copying/cutting and pasting files from one folder to another, it always hangs. Although it does what its supposed to do, it hangs after doing its job and you have to stop it manually.
help anybody
If the files are on sd it may help to remove then reinsert sd card before deleting or moving files.
Same problem here...
I gave up and purchased Resco File Explorer. Works perfectly.
total commander is free and since i also use it on my pc and it's a clone of norton commander which i used back in the days before
windows95 i cant live without it
soft reset with the sd Card removed and file explorer will work correctly
cheers

(question) Need some help

So here is my situation...
I would like one flash one of the new ICS roms and have run into an annoying problem.
I created a directory on the SD card called "Root", and downloaded the rom and placed it in the directory. I then rebooted into Recovery and after selecting update from zip on SD card, the file can't be located.
The only file in the Root directory is the first ROM I flashed and gaaps.
I can't seem to locate those files from Es file manager though.. Thoughts??

From recovery your sd card is called SD CARD.
from within say file manager your sd card will be in mnt/external_sdcard.
Some sd cards has a issue being read by cwm recovery. Often formatting the card in a Android phone or with sd format app. if k downloaded the rom file from within windows . In android file manager long tap on the file and click properties . check to see if the file is names xxxx.zip.zip
if you have stock recovery . the file must be on the root of the external sd card NOT in a folder at all. But your message makes me think you have cwm installed . if you are sure none of the above is the issue. Try re download the rom of your choice and try again.
Good Luck

Erica is right. When you copy your file to EXT SD Card, you should copy it straight to the card. NOT put it in some folder. This will make it easy for your Recovery to find.
This is the basic method. Depending on which recovery you use (RA or CWM) there are other locations you can use as well (USB Drive, Internal memory) but best to get familiar with the basic method first.
This worked for me... Thanks.

[Q] Files invisible in Android File Transfer App

I'm trying to transfer Titanium Backup files from my N7 to my Mac. The backup files are visible in ES File Explorer on the tablet in the TitaniumBackup folder on the sd card directory , but when the folder is viewed on the AFT app on my mac, it is empty.
The folder properties are read/write and not hidden.
I managed to see them, and transfer across last week, so I'm wondering why I cant now? I've flashed a couple of mod ROMs, then back to stock since - is that likely to have altered anything?
I have tried uninstall and reinstalling the AFT app on the mac, but the same problem persists.
Same thing with Windows 7 mate. Some of my files I can see on phone's file explorer but not on Windows explorer. I'm using AOKP ROM btw. Don't know if it's happening on stock ROM though.

Android/OBB

So I tried downloading some games and most of them required me to put sd data to android/obb folder. But the problem is that every time I tried to move/copy the file into obb folder, it shows me a error and will not let me copy/move files into obb folder. Is there any solution to this? I have googled everywhere but with no luck.
I am using the SGS4 I9500.
Thanks!
Android - OBB solution
I too had the same problem when tranfering from my PC to the phone.
The only solution I found until now is to copy to the external SD card, then from your phone use a file manager to copy from the SD to the Obb folder.

File 0 bytes when I copy to sd

When I copy a file, photo etc. from internal memory to sd card the result is a file with 0 bytes. Is there a fix? is it happen to someone? i tried to change file manager and sd card but the result don't change.
The sd card work. When I take a photo or for backup there isn't any problem. Any idea?
Me too
I agree cause I change sd yet still 0byte
But I take photo and save to sd it can
That's one of the Oreo update bugs.
I have the same
Before I think sd broken
I've just tried it with Total commander and file has the correct size and content. Can't see anything wrong
With Mi file explorer the copy works.
For the moment ok but I hope in a fast fix...
Works fine with X-plore file manager
No issues here. Using Solid Explorer.
*Edit* Retried and it is failing with Solid Explorer. Using Asus File Manager, no issue.
No. Try to copy a photo for example from WhatsApp directory to sd card. With X-plore and solid explorer (but also with Es file explorer, etc.) the copy is 0 bytes

yes, now it is failing with Solid Explorer. I am now using Asus File Manager and it works, copying the same photo files from internal memory to SD Card. Give this one a try.

Yes, MI file explorer too but it's a bug, I think
Using File Manager + , same problem.
I have the same problem as well. Solid explorer doesn't work but neither does anyone else... This is a huge problem for me! Flud downloaded files to the SD also show as 0B and don't play. I thought I had a corrupted card (Kingston 64GB U3) and I got a new Toshiba Exceria 128 U3 and still the same problem! Damn! I didn't have this bug with Nougat and first Oreo built... Will have to format as internal again until it's fixed.
Known bug under Oreo. Just use the internal 'Files' data manager.
Just gotta wait till the devs get active
Also doesn't work with Root Explorer.
With System-Apps (File, Fotos..) -> OK
With Open Camera (requested access to sd after change Storage to SD) -> OK
With Total Commander, QuickPic -> FAIL 0kb
With Droid over Wif -> no access to SD
Have the same problem. When I try to copy file to sd card it end up like 0 kb. Total commander fail and system app "File" fail to copy to SD card as well. Photos are saved on SD card when take pictures.
After copying files to SD-card try to reboot your device. On my mi a1, after reboot almost all files on SD-card are ok
Reboot your device after you copy your files, and it will show the file size, happens to me too. hope it helps.
I'm having the same problem. I believe that the file is there intact, however for some reason, it is reporting back as a 0B file.
I just did the April 1 2018 update and when I reboot, the problem went away, only to come back within an hour or so.
Possible fix for some people.
Install xposed module XInternalSD or Magisk Module ExSDCard Write Access Enabler 5.0-8.
I prefer the xposed module because it has a GUI to enable/disable on per app basis.
