You'll need Root if you on 7.1.2, but when Oreo update arrive, we can use Substratum Rootless+Andromeda

You have to be rooted.
Install substratum apk.
Install some theme apk and try to apply it in substratum, be careful it's possible to get bootloop.

i tried, not bootloop, but themes was not working..
i tried swift dark and choose OMS and also Lineage.
no any success.

You mean like in substratum app itself ?

yea when you apply theme you must choose those settings. i cant get any dark theme to work with substratum and this mi a1.

it says substratum legacy.. i just installed it on google play store.. i cant get any theme to work. and i have stock rom with rooted magisk..

Should work. Do you use any Magisk modules for substratum? Like for example there is a module called Substratum Systemless and I don't think that will work

Well I had an Xperia phone and substratum was working on that, and unlike A1 that was a custom Android ROM made by Sony. Be sure you install Legacy versions of themes and you don't use any substratum related magisk modules ( look again and make sure that module is disabled)

I deleted that module and try other themes too.. Something still wrong..

Don't use Substratum! Got into bootloop! had reflash firmware.
Substratum works fine for me...

It really works?? No bootloop or bugs? Can you try Pixel UI theme app for substratum and then say if it works? I have a zenfone 3 deluxe with android nougat. It should work anyway, but maybe only with marshmallow

Sorry I don't have the phone anymore. But I remember I didn't get any bootloop. However the themes i tried (mostly dark themes) are not working properly because the font will remain dark.

If you have rooted your phone, then you'll be able to use Substratum theme engine.
Wait for the Android O, the Android O support the Substratum with no root need

I have used Substratum, but the themes available in it are not that great. many of the themes are for sale & not free.
Can anyone confirm after applying substratum themes phone won't be in bootloop or bricked.

for substratum on nougat you need root, but on Oreo there are an option for work without root (systemless) but you'll need Andromeda for Substratum for that
also not sure if you apply system UI modification it wont ended up bootloop

I am using successfully Substratum with the BalticUI (working partially - Contacts app/Pone app doesn't work) or the Default Dark Theme! No bootloops!
Is there any way to dark theme the stock Nougat dialer. It's very harsh on the eyes. I have seen standalone dialers and flashable ones....any other choices?

With the Andromeda add-on you don't need root to work with substratum. Just run an ADB command to grant permissions

Works fine on my essential phone running oreo. Do you get an error of any sort
OK...no more Nougat. Now I'm on 8.1 so Hoe the hell do I get rid of the nasty bright blue dialer without resorting to an entire them or adding substratum?

Yeah every time says it finished with some errors I always send the errors to the dev but haven't heard back from them yet

Might just be the theme you're using then. Sometimes some components fail on some themes. You usually have to reboot after compiling the theme and then run Andromeda again and enable the themes after the reboot
This threat will be for useful magisk modules for our great sagit. More helpful will be modules not present in magisk repo

I use the sdk 27 90.0-beta1 i suppose beta 3 will work too but idk why i haven't updated it ?
You should disable resource hook before flashing the zip and use the compatible apk it was called xposed magisk apk easy to find

No you need to install the apk then flash thr zip I flashed it in twrp do the same as mine worked fine also before booting i wiped dalvik cache

Actually both le pro 3 and le max 2 are working. But if you want to install viper and dolby together, you will need to install old version of VIPER.

You can use arise so you can both have dolby and viper (yes the latest 2.5.0.5 one) plus the magisk compatibility module with the mod. Just configure install options in arise_customize.prop file then flash the zip. And you can try, add/delete other mods (included in arise) by creating other arise_customize.prop files and reflash the same zip to do it too.
I use FRONTCAM_PORTRAIT_FIX. It has officially turned my phone into a Pixel.

i flashed this module today. its working ( at least for me ) but ping time become so bad about 400ms. my ping time with my internet provider is about 25ms.

Yes Swift installer is working perfectly, but for the record, I tried installing Aether substratum theme w/ substratum lite to center clock & once I checked the option, I couldn't boot successfully. I didn't try again with reg substratum but just wanted to add the input if anyone wanted to know. Thx
