SM-G950FD - Not picking up SD card. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

I put my SD card into the tray of my s8 and I can't seem to get it to pick up the card, I seated it so it is flush with the tray. I also checked in twrp to see if I could mount it and it would not mount. I check the sd card on my computer and it works fine. I do not get the option to format or anything its as its not in the phone. I also tried moving my simcard to the second spot (where the sd card is supposed to be) to see if the sim card gets detected and it did.
What I have done so far:
Reseating sd card
cleaning pins on sd
trying sd card on another machine
move sim from slot 1 to slot 2/sd to see if there are pins to read stuff there.
Any suggestions?

memory card not recognized

Today my x started saying the memory card was blank. It will not let me format it or anything. Anyone else have this happen yet?
I have gotten a not recognized mesage before. I took the battery out and pulled the sd card out then booted the phone. Then turn the phone back off and try re-inserting the card.
Do you have another sdcard reader that you can test it in?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I just got a Droid X used. It didn't come with a memory card. I tried the 4gb card out of my Incredible but it wasn't recognized. I tried an old 1gb card. Not recognized. I bought a new 8gb card from Sam's Club. Not recognized.
I did a search here and this post is the closest to what I am experiencing.
I tried to format the new 8gb card to FAT32 just to see what happens. No success.
I have rebooted the phone several times, removed and reinserted the card, and made sure it is seated properly.
The Settings>Storage screen states the following:
Total space - Unavailable
Available space - Unavailable
Mount SD card - Insert an SD card for mounting <grayed out>
Format SD card - Format (erase) SD card <grayed out>
Any suggestions?
If this is a software glitch and rooting is an option, I can do that. I am familiar with rooting from my Incredible. I am hesitant to root with this issue lingering.
Thanks.

have you tried cleaning the sdcard slot? just a thought. if that does not work then its possibly a defective slot.

Micro SD Card Handling

Anyone know what the phone's behavior will be when I insert an SD Card? Usually I would want to format the card with the phone if I'm going to keep it in there 100% of the time. But right now, I'll be removing it now and then.
Can I just plug it in, and the phone will recognize the directories that I already have on the card if the card was originally formatted in Windows? Obviously I can back up my SD Card first, format it on the phone, and move my stuff back to the card after.. Just wondering what the best way to go about this is. I haven't had a phone with an SD Card slot since my GSIII.
As long as the card is exFAT format it shouldn't be an issue. It will detect any media in it and display it accordingly (well should).
If the card is NTFS formatted, it won't work
if it a fat32 memory card you can cross-swap as much you want. You do not need to format on the phone... I never really did ...
I pulled my SD card out of the Note 7 and dropped it into the V20. No problems.
Cool. Thanks!
Will the card once inserted be encrypted or can it remain unencrypted in the v20 ?

SD Card problems

I have recently purchased a SanDisk Extreme Micro SD 64gb SD card for my S7 Edge.
On Android 6.0 I had various issues writing to it. Since the Nougat upgrade it has worked faultlessly until this morning. The phone will not detect it at all.
Is there a compatibility issue with this card or is it simply faulty ?
Sounds like the issue could be the card. It's happened to me with the same SD card.
Connect the sd card to a computer using a SD card reader.
Backup all your data.
Put the SD card in the phone and choose to format it.
Connect SD card to computer and put all files back on the SD card.
Put SD card back in the phone and should work as normal.
That worked for me.

SD card unmounted

The SD card on my phone unmount whenever I'm listening to music or looking at photos. I tried formatting the SD card through the phone and on my computer and that didn't help. I even bought a new SD card and I'm still having this problem. Can anyone help me?
Maybe the contacts for the sd card inside the phone are loose or just dirty? Try to carefully clean the slot with a toothbrush. Is your software modified?
No the software isn't modified.
I tried doing a factory reset, I clean the sd card slot with compressed air and I bought a new SD card and I still have this problem. It's been roughly a year now I'm experiencing this.

Sd card gets disconnected

I am having trouble with my Moto G5 plus regarding SD Card. It gets disconnected and I have to go to storage setting to eject it and again mount it back to use it. Even while I transfer file from internal TO SD card the file gets removed. I even have some videos in SD card which I try to delete it but it keeps coming back. Kindly help me
If you have any means of plugging your sd card into your pc/laptop (like a micro sd to sd adapter for your laptop, old broadband stick with micro sd slot, etc.), then copy all the files to your pc and format the card.
If not, you can try backing up your files to the pc via usb cable if it works long enough to copy the files, or copy them to internal storage if you have space, and then do a format from your phone.
sounds like the cards not making a great connection with the pins inside the phone. take it out, and scratch the metal pin things with the point of a paperclip or a knife. dont lick it or use a cleaner just scratch it with something
