Hello everyone,
last week I picked up Iconia A500 runs Android 3.2. I'm on Windows 7 x64 and I've been developing with my HTC Desire without any problem but when I connect Iconia it doesn't appear on ADB list in Eclipse. I downloaded and installed latest drivers from Acer website, tried different USB ports, uninstall and reinstall drivers, etc. but still nothing happens. There is only Acer ICONIA TAB A500 under Portable Devices in Device Manager but nothing appears under Android USB Devices. USB debugging and Stay awake is on. I've been googling and trying all suggestions but no chance.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Sorry I missed that. Can you see the tab in the windows explorer..?
I had about the same problem when first set up. I think my tab first came up in adb as a long string of numbers. Don't rember what I did. If it pops in I will post back.

Yes I can see the internal sd card as a drive in windows explorer. what is weird I don't have such problem with HTC Desire it's obviously something to do with Iconia.

how are u getting on???
u will need to install Acer adb drivers. the ones u d/led from Acer are only yr USB drivers.
also, Acer does not play well with other mobile device drivers that u have already installed.
Well, I should say that mine didnt.
on yr tab uncheck USB debugging and reboot.
on yr PC uninstall ALL drivers both HTC and Acer reboot PC
connect tab to PC and re-enable USB debugging
open a command prompt and run "adb devices" to see yr devices serial number
once u have the Acer set up running u can reinstall yr HTC drivers.
if u don't see the device number, u might wanna check out this post here which will walk u thru editing the USB .inf files for use with adb.
good luck
Hi,
it decided to start working literally I've done nothing what I'd been doing for days. I unplugged the tab, uninstalled the drivers I downloaded from Acer support site (they are coming with ADB drivers) , restarted PC, reinstalled Acer drivers, plugged in the tab (and little magic powder i suppose ) and Windows said it couldn't find the driver for the device, I pointed to the Acer drivers and bang! it simply started working. I think it's about Windows, as ususal it controls what software you have to use in your computer!!! but because of a bug somewhere in Windows code it stops installing the drivers it prefers and says it couldn't find any driver.
Thank you so much for your help guys.
And if anyone comes across same problem just keep trying with different USB ports by uninstalling and installing drivers, after one point Windows stops resisting and accepts the reality that you want to use the drivers provided by Acer

thanks for support, you can always include these options as checkboxes, o people dont complain, like i am . another minor thing to add, total number of apps selected should be shown on select app screen, thanks
Ok so here's the thing. This morning when I woke up I dropped my phone on the floor and the battery flew out.Initially I thought it was nothing but later it started rebooting without any good reason. I tried restarting, it would stay on for a bit then it would go down again. I am(was) running CyanogenMod 7 on a Samsung Galaxy SI. I want to reflash it with Odin as it won't start anymore. At first it would just boot loop but now it won't even get past the first logo. The tricky part is that my PC won't recognize it , all I get is Unknown Device code 43 yada yada BS! I tried alot of drivers, I tried the have disk method with the usb driver from SDK Tools , nothing worked ! Please, give me some suggestions about what I should try more because honestly this is beyond my expertise in this domain.

code 43, has more to do with Hardware, its about your cable and PC ...so check cable, try switch to another USB port
Microsoft engineers answer
I suggest that you connect the Controller to a different USB port and check if you have the same issue.
If this does not work, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the USB controller.
To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type Device manager and open device manager.
2. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
3. Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.
Disable and enable the USB device:
1. Click on start and type devmgmt.msc.
2. Right click on the caution sign on the USB.
3. Select disable and reboot the computer.
4. Enable the device after reboot.
Also make sure that you download and install the latest version of Software for this. Here is a link you can follow to download the Software:

try and borrow another original samsung USB cable to test first, this is a major culprit, as numerous people including myself have experienced
what happens is one of the pins on the micro usb plug of rolls in and gets broken , also check your USB slot a good cleaning with a brush and alcohol would be good fro the connection ( do it when you have removed battery)
Got another USB cable still nothing... It's very weird, it's like nothing I heard off or read on the forums... Is there any method of connecting to the mobile using SDK manager ? I'm not really familiar to working with the SDK manager.

was your cable an original samsung cable, IF not, many common cable do not work, due to pin configurations
For ADB, you still need connection with USB cable
Here's another thing I could try. If I go to Device Manager - Right Click on Unknown Device - Update Driver Software - Browse I can choose from a list of Samsung Drivers... The question is , which one do I have to choose for my Galaxy S ? Maybe it will work like this

I think you have misunderstood it, there are many solutions mentioned there in, cause I am the one who wrote it ..your option was to try them all to see which one solved it
for win 7 . download this driver http://www.4shared.com/zip/0LQRmsMm/usb_driver.html and give it a go, if the other failed
Tried everything from your guide...even from the microsoft sites...Still can't get my device to be recognized...If I use the Usb driver you sent it won't let me use them even if I manually choose it for my device. Don't really know what to do more honestly other than throw it away and get another phone
http://cagnazzo.name/drupal/vista_corrupted_driverstore
Try the above, then install the Samsung drivers and then connect your device.

problem is, its not the phone but its either, the micro USB slot or cable or your PC, if you have another USB cable and a lap top or a friends PC might be able to resolve your problem
So I plug my stock unrooted but unlocked, stock recovery 4.3 nexus into my windows 7x64 PC or windows7x86 laptop and it doesn't get recognized at all. The computer doesn't know it's there... I tried debugging mode but didn't work either, I just removed the abd drivers to make sure it wasn't their fault but no effect.
Sometimes the computer sees something unknown but doesn't want to install drivers to it. I think it's a hardware defect, the cable is confirmed working fine, charging also works fine but the phone does nothing in the pc. Yesterday it sort of worked, bad, but it did get recognized after trying ten times, now nothing at all.
Please can anyone tell me what is going on??? I need to install custom recovery to reset the phone but I can't get any files on it.
at the moment my laptop sees something, but nothing more than unknown, as shown in the image attatched

Enable USB debbuging in your phone. Go to Settings -> about phone -> tap about 10 times on build number item until USB debbuging is unlocked.
Also, on your computer go to the device manager, look for your phone, if you find it, right click on it, then update Driver Software, browse computer, Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, USB composite device
That should do it.

If you see a unrecognized device in the "Devices and printers" list, as shown in your screenshot, then it should show up in the device manager as well...
If you can't find it, just use the one displayed right there in your screenshot (if it really is your phone).
- right click on it
- Properties
- Hardware tab
- Properties again
- Driver
- Update driver
- proceed as explained above

The windows plug in plug out sound is now sounding about every 10 seconds, in out in out, could it be the phone has a broken connection? the micro usb? still nothing just unrecognized, mass storage is ticked, but doesn't make difference whatsoever, disabling developer options doesn't help either. computer keeps saying it already has the latest drivers.
I recently flashed all the new stuff I downloaded at the official google site where you downlaod the latest 4.3, I flashed using nexus 4 toolkit the files as shown in the second image. I think this might have broke it, but that would be very unfortunate because there would be no way to ever flash different recovery or install another rom/kernel, or is there?
Also, phone doesn't get recognized in fastboot or adb, but it did before
and now the phone gets recognized as normally would, nothing changed, what the ...?
sorry for wasting your time, I figured out my nexus has a broken connection, it's still usable though when I do it right.
I guess I have the same problem. I also replaced the USB flex, but the problem persists. How can you connect it properly to the computer?
Thanks

Well my Nexus 4 is hardware broken but I can still charge it fine, its just the computer connection that barely works, today I was lucky enough to be able to flash custom recovery to it while holding the phone sideways, it worked just for the moment, not anymore rightnow. I guess I'm kinda screwed and you might be too....
This isn't covered by warranty is it? I think I have water damage which isn't covered I know for sure, I just can't tell if it was the water that did the damage.
Are you guys sure it's a problem with your cable/phone plug and not your USB socket or internal hub? Have you tried different sockets?

OK, try installing a different ROM like cyanogenmod 10 and then see if the computer connection works again
I successfully flashed my yd206 from gearbest using the yotaphone flasher utility.
My friend bought the same model from gearbest, but when I select option 1 to flash the phone (having put the phone in download mode), all I get is "waiting for device"
Everything I have read suggests it is a driver issue, but as i have already done this sucessfully on my phone using the same computer, I doubt that is the case. It successfully shows up as a portable device on my Win 10 device manager (no exclamation marks)
I have tried:
1. different cable
2. Clearing dalvik cache
3. factory resetting
4. setting developer options, usb debugging on
5. using a different computer
Any suggestions?
Sorry, should have put this in troubleshooting (maybe a moderator could move it?)
I think you have the same as me.
There is a problem with that driver, I do not yet know why. You will never be able to communicate with your handset. I will investigate mine, more.
My suggestion would be to try on a different PC. (oops I just saw that is your point 5).
I have been told by my friend that he used device manager and forced windows to use the usb driver in the C:\Program Files (x86)\yotaphone_flasher\Driver\ folder and afterwards it worked fine.
Didn't you try that driver in yotaflasher folder already? That makes sense about yotaflasher folder drive r. Mine arrives tomorrow after 12 day wait. Did your friend have the same problems with the "waiting for device" message though? That's the important question.

When I flashed my phone I didn't have any issues. My friend's phone did have "waiting for device" whilst trying to do it on both my PC and his until he changed the usb driver
Ah that's good news about your friends attempts. I tried installing Adb drivers on different handsets today without success.
If the fastboot works, I will be confident about flashing a new ROM, otherwise Chinese ROM here we go

Ah, so there was no exclamation mark in your device driver table and it still failed? Ah that's bad news for me, mine has exclamation mark.

Hello!
Please advise, I really don't know what to do with it anymore ...
Every ROM with Android 10, including Crdroid, Pixel Experience etc ... as soon as I upload it to the Mi A1, then (after normal first start and boot) I connect the USB cable and choose "USB transfer files", so it just doesn't appear on a Windows PC and I cannot transfer anything. As if the phone was just unplugged, it's just charging USB tethering works. Direct selection of "USB file transfer" in the developer options won't help either. Where's the problem? Once I get back to Android 9 (Any... Stock and AOSP), everything is fine.
I flash the ROM normally. Starting from STOCK, unlock the original bootloader, load TWRP, delete DATA, SYSTEM, INTERNAL, DALVIK, flash ROM, then GAPPS (eventually) and then restart...
I really don't know where the problem is when nobody reports anything like that here

? Might be something to do with the usb driver(s) on your pc. Also if you can't get it to work then try FTP as that's an alternative. See if you can transfer files via usb when you boot into recovery (twrp etc). Have you tried Derpfest ROM? That ROM might work for it. Just a few possibilities lol
I don't assume that it would be a USB driver, because the same phone with Android 9 works normally. And to replace the direct connection via USB by FTP connection? I don't think about it for a second Maybe when I'm in a bit of a mood I'll try another ROM and maybe I'll be lucky...
I'm rather surprised that no one has a similar problem and I would just like to solve it
Anyway, thanks for trying to help me
Hi,

I'm calling off my problem!
It was really enough to completely remove the existing drivers and let Windows do its job and install them again.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!
This should happen to newbies only! Unfortunately, I made it very complicated IN MY HEAD and I didn't think clearly
I apologize to everyone!
It is a problem with the drivers, it does not matter what ROM you use or if you have Android 9 or 10. You have to enter the Windows task manager, put the mobile in file transfer mode and delete Google driver by uninstalling the device from the system, just delete that driver and re-target your Mi A1 to PC. Windows will install the correct driver.
In Windows 10,go to Device manager & uninstall Google nexus device.then plug your phone.Storage working well
