Hello!
I've noticed that my sound suddenly decreases. It happens randomly and I dont know what causes it to go up and down. The thing is, it doesnt decrease as in - go down on the volume bar, the bar stays on max, but the sound definitely becomes lower.
I'm a construction worker, so I have headphones on my head all the time and I can hear when it goes down and when it goes up, and I can confirm its not cable unplugging itself, also, I've tried to use other headphones but the problem persists, and even happens when using the phones loudspeaker.
If anyone has this model, has anything similar ever happened to you, or is it just me?
What could be done here? I really don't know what I could do to the phone, I don't know if its rooted, yet (if it is, please point me in the right direction)...
Thanks for any type of help!

I think you will find that it's simply the device's backlight. If you turn the brightness up, it will most likely stop. The PSP and the new DS Lite also make the high pitched whistle you describe. This is not a fault with your device, and there is no need to fret
It is not changing when i go to backlight option in system. If i turn off light i can hear it again, only if i put it on stand by it stops.
having the exact same problem with mine MDA.. someone who can help?
Seems like I have yet another issue with my Wing. Out of nowhere, I mean I wasn't even using it and it took me a little bit to realize it, the speaker stopped working. All of sudden my phone won't make a sound. I can hear when I make a call, but nothing else. No ringtones, alarms, music, anything that comes out of the speaker. Please don't tell me my speaker blew and please tell me there is a solution. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
there is, replace the speaker lol
Maybe the speaker contacts or terminals are not proper. If you know how to dis-mantle your wing, you shall probably fix it yourself. Did you drop your wing by any chance?
I was thinking about taking it apart myself, but didn't want o ruin it any worse than it already is. One thing I do recall before it completely went is that when you sliding the volume up and down, you know how it usually goes "bink"? Well when I had tried to turn it down, it sounded all cracked and distorted. I heard turned my phone off about 10 minutes later so I didn't really pay attention to it.
Nine time out of 10, the phone rings and plays the ring tone but, every now and then, it rings but with no sound as if the phone's volume had been muted. (have not tried it with a different ringtone yet...).
Not done anything different with the phone apart from connecting my plantronic voyager pro +. Even with headset connected, you can still here the phone ring independently.
Have looked around on the site and it would seem that the only other experience of this is with the headphone socket which, in this instance is irrelevant.
Anyone got any ideas??
whoops, can a mod please move this thread to the general section.
Allen, a while back I was running in to an issue where my phone would lose all sound, I would only notice when a phone call would come in and I happened to notice the flashing light. It turns out that for some reason if I reboot my phone with the headset still plugged in the phone would lose its sound until I unplugged the headphones and rebooted again. I think the problem has since been resolved but I'm still in the habit of unlpugging my headphones before I reboot. By any chance are you rebooting before you notice this happening?
Last night when it was really quiet & while i was browsing the internet using my A500 i just kept hearing strange sounds coming from the lower half of the back of the device near the speakers "please note that i always deactivate any sounds/vibrations from the settings menu" it was really annoying these sounds which kept coming regularly "they sound as clicks" i tried to put the device on standby with no luck.
These sounds seems like the device is trying to perform some kind of a task like when your hard disk is trying to access information or something!
Have any of you came across a similar experience! Do you know why these sounds are coming or how can we mute them?
Thanks,
i never hear any strange sound on my a500.
have you ever used mobilephone near the a500?
i think the other device which can send signal will affect the a500.
i don t know how to describe it, it is a something just like electronic wave.
Try standing outside away from interference?
Could be faulty speakers.
strange sound like as floppy reading
Yes I have the same experience. When I hear this sound (like as floppy reading or hdd) I immediatly turn off the device. After turn on tablet the noise was very quiet bzzz. Now I watch the sound and I returned to the original ROM 3.01. I dont know what I need to do, becouse the noice is very quiet now, adn my device is rooted. I am loocking way to unroot an I will see what is happens next. I am sure that is HW problem.

using an overclocked kernel or rom by any chance? This happened to me once on virtuous xoom, but stopped on stock
I can say this has happened to me also. Glad tot know I'm not going nuts.
Hey guys, so I've been having a horrible issue with this phone and I can't for the love of god find the reason behind it.
Sometimes my earpiece just doesn't work, be it for calls or anything else. In fact, if I press the play button on a whatsapp voice note and put the phone to my ear even though it turns the screen off it actually pauses the audio, which may already be an indicative that the problem isn't hardware related, as it would just keep playing with no sound coming out if the problem was the actual speaker. This problem comes and goes (but it's there 80% of the time) and when the earpiece works sound is loud and clear. When I reset the phone, it worked all the time, but as soon as I install my apps and all, problem comes back. I really need help to find out what's causing it... Is there a way for me to know if a specific process from some app is doing it? Has anyone had a similar problem??? My phone simply can't be used as a phone right now =(
If u r sure it is software related reflash the software via Odin
