Hello.
Iwe just go my first ever android unit - Always used iphones - So this is a new world to me, and i have a problem.
I am very happy with my new headunit, but the sound quality is a bit poor.
So read about Viper4android, and sounds like its the thing to install - But my unit is not rooted - And all the guides make no sense to me - And there is many different.
So anyone with android know how, that can tell witch guide i have to use, and is it possible without a PC?
And do i lose all my apps etc when rooting?
I cant post a link to the unit i have - Because i am a new member.
But here are the main specs:
OS: Android 6.0.1
*CPU: Octa-Core 64 Bit PX5 Cortex-A53, 8x1.5GHZ
*RAM: DDR3*2GB
*Flash: 32GB
Thanks.

Simplest way in my opinion is not to root just flash maleskys rom for px5 he has is already with viper4android root and xpose all you do is download his rom for px5 take out the update.img from zip place on the root of sdcard then go into settings click update and let it flash dont bother updating mcu if all is fine with your unit until either you comfortable or in need of it as that is the part that is more risk of bricking this is just my opion it is up to you i take no responsibility reed his thread but i do recommend
Is it that easy?
Just download that file - Place it on an SD Card - In the unit - and click update in settings?
Then i have working Viper4android?
Do i still have the same languages settings ? (danish)

Hi
I'm new and happy to be here.
Anyone have any advice on if I am able to update the Android from 4.4.4 KitKat to something later? I would be grateful if an image is available. I have searched and having no luck what so ever. I am in UK.
TY
Hi, have you tried Malaysk ROMs, here is a link that may interest you, "https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70647239&postcount=6748", the Malaysk ROMs for MTCB/C units are 4.4.4 based but far superior to the original firmware, please read through the article before you start flashing and make sure your head unit meets the required criteria, I wouldn't want to be responsible for your head unit being bricked.
I have 2 of these head units, one is a MTCB and the other is a MTCC, I downgraded the MTCC head unit from 5.1 lollipop in favour of the 4.4.4 firmware by Malaysk because it is so much more comprehensive and flexible.
I hope this helps.

The attached about device screen doesn't show any real information about the headunit. I bought the 2gb/32gb version from https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Adv...32846161109.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.mT18OW
From what I have gathered, the closest headunit I have found is the umecity one listed in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...mecity-allwinner-quad-t3-vw-0011-2gb-t3605401
Both have the same processor, storage, and ram. It is a low profile item just as listed in that post. I found a similar umecity verison on aliexpress listed here https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr...-2007-2008-2009-2010/1949726_32828975208.html with 16gb of storage. I asked for the seller for more information on my model and if there are any firmware updates available, but he asked for a screenshot of the software version which only listed android 6.0.1.
The unit works great in terms of plug and play. Canbus worked right off the bat, but it is slow with google maps/spotify. I haven't tried to root or disabled and bloatware yet, and the software options are very limited. Just trying to get more information before I make any changes.
Any success??
I have the 16GB model. I am looking for an custom ROM to get more options like changing the launcher.

You don't need a custom ROM to change the launcher right? I just downloaded several launchers straight from Google Play / APK sites.

Hi all
I have a 9" UltraOcta-T8 (I think it is the AllWinner) and it is running Android 7.1.2
Is there an upgrade path to Oreo at all.
Here is a pic of the About screen showing MCU and System version ( for some reason I cannot upload an image)
MCU version: 5.3. 19-63-84-C06101-170705
System Version: V9.2.2_20171013. 154052_TW2-FD
Thanks
Lance
I was hoping you had a solution too, I love the head unit but I think it could be a better experience with 8.0 on it, it's been over a year without a reply on this thread.

Yes, there is an upgrade path using Phoenix Suite. I upgraded from 7.1 to 8.1 around 2 weeks ago and the head unit now feels snappier and it hasn't crashed yet when using various sat nav apps which it used to sometimes on 7.1. Boot time is slightly faster and I've found it connects via bluetooth to my phone automatically every time I get in the car. Under 7.1 it was quite sporadic.
There is a post on the main T8 Allwinner thread which you will have to look for. You'll need a laptop, Phoenix Suit, 8.1 ROM which is in the post (I've now flashed the JP variant of 8.1 which is stable), Male to Male USB cable to connect laptop to head unit.
The instructions in said post are a little hard to understand, but it only took me about 15 minutes after I'd downloaded the software and ROMs.

Thank you, this got me pointed in the correct direction, only thing I'm worried about is losing BT capability since I read that happens a lot.
some high-tech may support upgrade
most devices can't upgrade from 7 to 8 version. It depends on whether your head unit support upgrade. need to reach out to seller.

That was one of my concerns also, I had no issues though. Just make sure you take note of the config in the extra settings. Once you've flashed your final ROM, check the settings are the same and reboot the head unit 3 or 4 times (not sure why, but seen it said a few times).

You can upgrade from 7.1 to 81 on the UltraOcta T8 AllWinner devices. It's just a bit of pain as you need to use laptop etc... but once you have everything together it's quick and easy.
The only thing I'm not sure on is the downgrade path (8.1 to 7.1) should you need it. Thankfully I've found 8.1 (v9.3.1_20181109.180710_JP3-FD) to be much more stable than 7.1 (9.2 JP1-FD).
Which thread did you say the instructions were in?
I can't seem to find the thread when i search for allwinner t8 update

Posting this to see if anyone has these head units and about any possibility of development on them.
If anyone can interpret anything useful out of the information below, that would also be helpful.
I found a thread on 4pda discussing this, but thought I would post here to see if XDA is able to assist as well.
CPU Model - MediaTek MT6580M
Kernel Architecture - 4x ARM Cortex - A7
Manufacturer - LeTV
API - 27
Android - 8
System Version - OS_v2.0.5WF_GWI_DNYB
Kernel - Linux 3.18.79
MCU - CM_19.07.09_19.54
RAM - 2Gb
Internal memory - 16/32/64 Gb
I have attached some photos of the information presented on the head unit and also from CPU-Z and AIDA64.

I have the same unit. Figure how to root and make USB modem work? Thanks
Also of note is that this head unit is sold as running Android 9, but when checked via Android settings/CPU-Z/AIDA64, it indicates that it is actually running Android 8.1. The first image on the first post shows the inaccurate information screen they have put on the unit that falsely states the unit is running Android 9.0.

I found the following posted elsewhere. I believe they said this is a copy of the firmware they received after requesting it from the seller of the head unit.
I have not tested this personally, so I don't know if it will flash successfully or not. Proceed at your own risk.

How do i install It? Sorry i'm a Noob
Help please!
Anyone find a way to root this device yet?
Just thought I would bump this for those interested:
Wanted to update that in the thread on 4pda, users have made a lot of progress with this unit.
- Multiple versions of firmware available, including some modified ones. E.g. There is a modified firmware on there which fixes a bug where the unit would not save a new selection of default firmware.
- Some have figured out where to solder a usb connection in order to use adb and fastboot. This also allows for one to rescue an otherwise "bricked" head unit from a botched firmware install, etc.
- I think they have also explored various issues beyond this.
So thus far, it seems the thread on 4pda has been the primary source for development/user discussion for this head unit. Nonetheless, I thought I would update. Input from users of this head unit would be welcome, e.g. if anyone has tried the new firmware, etc.
it seems the 4pda site is all in Russian I think? any chance someone can post the links to the firmware downloads here? if allowed of course.
Hi guys. I just bought a car and it has a chinese navigation YT9218 from what I understand.
It says it have Android 8.1 Go on it, but it is moving really hard.
I will atach some screenshots about version to be more clear.
What I wanna do is update the firmware or something to make it run smoother.
If any guides/ideas will be much apreciated.
Thanks a lot.
I found some updates on 4pdu, and on this site http://file.xygala.com/.
I updated my unit to xyauto_ui1_R2G_9218C_full_8227L_demo-ota-20200602_HIFI.
Anyone have a guide on configuring those units? Or any tutorials?
Or maybe a rooted new version of firmware? It sucks that u can not customise it as you want even if is android. I would try some apps for customisation... but idk how much it can run at 1GB RAM...

As a modder of these units, I have to tell you that the only way for you to make it run smoother is through custom firmware and root. Once enabled, you need to adjust some settings to ensure it runs well. I have made a post here that describes in detail how to improve units YT9213AJ and YT9216B but the principle is the same.
