I'm using several devices, (mostly Note 3 and iPhone), and now being a proud owner of the S7 Edge there's just one thing annoying me. If I record a video, or a spoken note (stock voicerecorder), and I play this back, in my opinion the volume is too low. I tested this with the three devices next to each other, put the volume on all three devices at the same level (from hearing point of view), and recorded a video and a audio note. If I play this back, the playback volume of the S7 Edge is way lower than the volume on the other two devices, (and as mentioned, the hearing volume on all three devices is on the same level). Does anyone recognize this issue with their S7 Edge?
There must be some setting available in the "Setting Option" from main menu. Did you check it?

The Settings are more for the playback volumes, and that's fine. If I play a youtube video, game, or a video I recorded with my previous phone, or just an mp3, the sound is fine. The Volume levels have almost the same output on the S7 Edge as my Note 3. It's just when I record with this device, and than play that back.
If I open the voicerecorder on the S7 Edge, and talk directly (very close) to the Mic, you see the 'spikes' on the equalizer just reaching half of the maximum. From this close I would expect this to give a maximal spike. And of course, also this sounds very poor, much less compared to the other devices.
Can you find such a setting, for the Mic only?

I returned my last phone cause the microphone was so low.... We have 3 in the house hold 1 gold one that records super loud and a black and silver that are almost identical...... The way I test it is to set them in front of a tv/radio and use the voice recorder... The gold one picks up alot of sound but the other two not as much.... I'm guessing their are a couple faulty devices but could also be a water proofing issue.....
Edit* also noticed voice recorder volume might record higher then video volume... Or the way I hold the phone... Does the microphone record from the top hole or the bottom hole?or both..... How is call volume? Can people hear you loud enough?

According to the user manual the voice recorder app will record using both top and bottom mics when it is set to interview mode- see following extract
Changing the recording mode
On the Apps screen, tap Samsung → Voice Recorder.
Select a mode from the top of the voice recorder screen.
• STANDARD: This is the normal recording mode.
• INTERVIEW: The microphone is sensitive to sounds from two directions. In this mode,
both the top and the bottom of the device pick up equal amounts of sound.
I know and expected the volume to be somewhat lower than my note 1 and note 3 which I just upgraded from 2 days ago, due to the phone being waterproof they must have something over the speaker to avoid damage from water but mine seems to be pretty decent. I have the silver SD820 from att. I would think the mic has some kind of water protection also, maybe there's some issue with some of them.

That is the strangest part. I made some testcalls with my Note 3 and the S7 Edge, and according to my wife (who I callled ), the volume somewhat the same from both devices. I did not speak loud, just normal.
The problem occurs with stock Voicerecorder and when I record a video with the stock Camera app. Here I hear a big difference on my Note 3 + iPhone, which have the almost the same output volume, (and off course used 'their' stock apps) and the S7 Edge which clearly has a much lower volume output.
I also tested the Interview mode, and the output volume is even lower...
Maybe it's time to go to Samsung support!

According to Samsung Support it's normal that the S7 Edge has a lower volume since it's made waterproof. So all the S7's must have this. I can imagine that there is a little loss, but in my case it's a lot of lower compared with my other devices. The only advice was to use a 3rd party app to control the microphone volume.
Any advices?
I also have call volume problem too. My girlfriend always told me, she can't hear enough. Very low call volume compare with Note2 (my old smartphone).
After downloading and installing NextRadio, I've noticed that the volume is pretty high compared with my audio players. I use PowerAmp and the Samsung Music apps, and when I set the volume to the first marker after 0, the music is appropriately pretty low. When using NextRadio using the same setting though, it's much louder. It worked this way on both my S7 and S7 Edge. I'm sure it's specific to the app, but there's no equalizer or anything in the settings to adjust. Any advice? Not a deal breaker, but when I'm listening to the radio in certain situations, I still like to be able to hear what's going on around me, and this app seems to default to a pretty high setting.
I have a weird sound problem with my S7 Edge, and it doesn't seem to be the same as in other threads on here.
This only happens when I connect to my car Aux socket via an aux cable, and it also only happens with certain music apps.
When I use Poweramp, everything is fine. Music plays faultlessly and sound quality is great. However, sometimes I use another music app, Player Pro, if I want to play something else, but save my place in my current Poweramp playlist. This is when the problem starts of random, but quite loud 'clicking' during music playback. This 'clicking' sounds almost like a 'chirp', and there seem to be two 'chirps' very close together, as the sound appears to sweep from the right to left channels, but I think it's one 'chirp' coming out of each channel, making it sound like two (if that makes sense!). If I then use another music app, say, Black Player, after using Player Pro, the 'chirping' is still there, but if I reboot the phone, and don't use Player Pro, then Black Player plays OK. I know this sounds really convoluted, but I prefer the sound quality from Player Pro, so ideally, I'd like to use that, and Player Pro plays fine via Bluetooth.
So, it seems that the problem could be with Player Pro, yes? However, today, I installed JetAudio HD, without first using Player Pro, and the clicking / chirping started with that too!
I've tried with UHQ Upscaler (in S7 settings) on and off and this seems to make no difference. With UHQ Upscaler on, this seems to mess with the volume on Poweramp, so I don't have it switched on. It seems to me that there's a compatibility issue somewhere with something in certain music players, and the stock Samsung sound settings, but in the S7 sound settings, I have everything switched off, so that the music player apps can take care of EQs etc.
I'm tearing my hair out with this, as sometimes, Player Pro will play all day long without any problems, so this is so random that it seems impossible to work out where the problem lies.
Can anyone suggest anything? I haven't been threatened with Oreo for this phone yet, and actually have auto-updates switched off, as I don't want it, having already had it ruin my HTC 10.
I cannot find anyone talking about this "problem":
After Android 10 update (december patch), every time i try to record an audio on whatsapp (locking the mic by swiping up), the phone thinks that i want to change the active app.
I have to pickup the mic button at the higher size and slowly swipe up to record an audio... or open the keyboard before recording an audio.
I have this problem, the temporary fix is to enable the thin bar on the bottom
I have same problem.
Is used gestures in Android 9.0 and didn't have this problem. Now with Android 10 and One UI 2.0 I have this problem too.. They removed the sensitivity-option for the gestures from the underside of the screen.
Hi, I have a picture quality issue when playing Netflix. I also include links to the video. The image is horrible in dark scenes. It is dark and looks like a mosaic.
The paradox is that if I set the quality in Netflix settings to low, the image looks much better and brighter than with High Quality.
I tried turning the Brightness Boost feature on and off in HDR (new setings in A12), but no change. When turned on, it seems to me that there is more mosaic.
I also tried deleting the data in the Netflix application, it didn't help.
I have an OP8 Pro 256GB, A12, with no ROOT, no other intervention.
The mobile was upgraded to A12, reset factors, and then started installing applications and setting up.
I have the highest quality set in Netflix, max data allowed. The cell phone is set to 1080p and 120Hz.
Is it possible that HDR broke? HDR image create software or a physical component on the motherboard? I can't handle it.
I tried to compare it with my brother's OP8pro, but he has an L3. HDR doesn't even turn it on and it plays in SD quality. I have L1. My brother doesn't care. I also attach a video as I compared. That's the brightness I have when I set the LOW quality.
I tried to play DUNA on HBO Max on my and my brother's and it looked good as well as my brother's mobile.
I add another finding. This problem is not only with Netflix, but also with normal playback. I tried to release a 22GB qHD movie and also in the dark scenes a horrible mosaic in the shadows. I tried to play through the gallery, xPlayer, VLC and the same. When I make a printscreen, and I send it to the PC, the photo is like it is played by the PC (okay). So only the mobile phone has a problem. Interestingly, there is no such problem with HBO Max. I often watch movies, series on mobile. It's starting to bother me a lot, and I'm thinking of throwing it at a service station.
Turn off DC dimming.
and where do you have dc dimming options in oos12 ??
I tried this tutorial but it didn't work.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ing-oneplus-login-option-in-settings.4251453/
I'm not sure if it's been removed in OOS12, but you can try searching in the settings. I'm using a custom ROM right now, and my menu layout is different than OOS12, but I'm pretty sure you have an option like that in OOS11.
You might need to enable Developer Options to be able to find it.
DC dimming uses a different technique to control the brightness of the display panel at low levels. It basically turns the pixels off if the value would be close to black. This increases battery life slightly, but you lose some detail in dark scenes in movies and such.

You're wrong. It's not about DC dimming. On android 12 aosp there is also a problem with displaying HDR content the same as on oos12. I know because today I was flashing derpfest and there was also a problem with Netflix. There is no problem on oos11
