Hi all,
is it possible to configure the physical modes button to enable/disable auto-rotation of the display? Of course by means of a mod I mean.
I would like this configuration:
button up: mute - auto rotation OFF
button in the middle: volume up - auto rotation ON
button down: volume up - auto rotation OFF
Is this possible in any way?
Thanks

Tasker can grab the hooks triggered by the switch. The problem is the switch will still change the phone to DND in the middle position. I don't even bother with the middle position because DND is useless. I also hate how easily the switch moves when you put the phone into your pocket. If you don't use a case, this will drive you nuts.

Can you please guide me on how to make tasker grab the hooks triggered by the switch? I looked into events in tasker but I couldn't figure it out.

Hi. Would be very grateful for any help.
I have the following issues:
1) External buttons don't work in clamshell mode (except answer call button). At the very least I'd like to use the volume control.
2) Keyboard backlight never comes on (have tried the button on front and with backlight sensor enabled and disabled in settings).
I was wondering if this is anything to do with the corporate install, as I'm almost positive that before I hard-reset and went into corporate, the volume control at least worked in clamshell mode.
Many thanks! jim
Keyboard backlight will only get on in very dark environment. Universal has a light sensor.
I know: backlight doesn't come on even with my thumb over it.
On the other issue, though, does anyone know if the outer buttons and the volume slider _should_ work with the lid closed?
I too thought the backlight was broken, but it has to be REALLY dark, and your thumb has to seal every area of it. Alternatively find and change the setting to disable the backlight sensor, then it comes on every time you press a key!
Hallo!
Does anyone know the fastest and easiest way to change the display between Landscape and Portrait mode ?
Sometimes when I pickup my device from my Pocket, I notice that the display is on "Landscape" mode, but after I hold it in my hand it turns back to normal (Portrait mode), what causes that ?
Thanks in Advance!
I'm not sure what causes your phone to go into landscape when it's in your pocket but the easiest way to get it back (aside from sliding to expose the keyboard and closing it) is to assign one of your buttons to rotate your screen. In your buttons menu there is a "rotate" option. I changed my messaging button (Upper left corner) to rotate my screen when pressed.
If you use the original case that comes with the MDA VARIO sliding it out of the case causes this rotation. This happens when the PDA is active ( for example an incoming call ), the magnet in the case somehow causes the rotation when you pull it out.
Its weird, but many people experience it - I don't use the case at all and never had such problems.
If you can afford to lose a hardware button then you can assign either Rotate Screen Left or Rotate Screen Right to one through Start -> Settings -> Buttons
Thank you all for your helpful replies.
And yeah DREAMBOXER, you are right, I am using the case that came with the device... I never thought that the magnet causes that. OK is it bad and will harm my device with the time or it is just normal and nothing bad will happen if I continue using this case ?
it won't damage it
it's just the keyboard sensor is a magnet as well
Hey, did anyone found solution... is it possible to tweak settings somehow so that display turns on by pushing home button? Or do I really have to push power button every time?
I know of volume button tweak, but.. that one is no good (volume settings gets displayed)... Any other ideas, suggestions? (other than "pull the stylus")
Thanks!
Try AE Button Plus. You can customize a lot of buttons. I didn't tried what you asked, but it worth a try.
Anyway, take care using it.
I would say not. There appears to be no power to these lower buttons while in standby, so no software could work?

No, for the reasons given.
BUT... you could use MobileMagic to toggle the screen on/off when device is turned face down. That way when you turn it face down, screen goes off and buttons are locked. To turn it back on, turn devicedevice face down again.
You do need to go to Start-Settings-System-Power-Advanced and untick the option, "Turn off device if not used for", because if the device gets turned off (instead of just screen off) it won't respond.
I have it set to turn screen off on reverse portrait too,
so it turns off automatically when I put it in my pocket.
Im also afraid for that power button... used it a lot on my diamond so it got bricked, its so gentle... Im using it as much as little possible now on mine HD for that reason.
I have s2u2 unlock on stylus out, so I pull out the stylus, the HD comes on and unlocks. It's so simple.

Do you find this has any impact on battery life? If i'm right, this just turns off the screen but does not put the device to sleep?

That's not possible for the simple reason that the buttons below the screen are part and parcel of the touch screen, so if the screen is off, they won't work.

That is correct.
Power consumption, in this case, depends on what applications are left running. GPS, streaming video, etc would be a bad idea to leave running. But more workday apps use very little juice when the huge power drain of the screen is turned off.

Nope... I've tried that app. Its great for locking down the normal WM hardware buttons, but it doesn't have the HTC bespoke "Home button" on the list of configurable buttons.
I would like to know how to cancel it..
When I am walking or moving my hand, the screen will auto turn on the screen, and my face always touch the "End Call" key....
Can I remove this funtion??
thanks!
Anyone can help me?
How can you accidentally tap the End Call key when there's an onscreen sliding panel protecting it?
...the screen isn't designed to auto turn on... it's designed to auto turn off.

The end call button is below the "onscreen sliding panel" so that doesn't help very much.
I have the LG G Watch R... What I have going on is i constantly turn my watch on by accident. Either i cross my arms or my leg touches the screen and turns it on.. I've even played a game without knowing i was. I've tried the hacks/ advanced settings app but those only 1/2 way turn it off. (you can still swipe).
Is there anyway to completely disable the touch screen and only be able to wake it up with the physical button??
Try double click button to put watch in theatre mode. Otherwise use settings or pull down menu.
I want the screen on i just want the touch screen to be completely disabled..
I want it to still show time but have no response to touch until after the button is clicked.
Did you check market for any third party app?
