Hi
I'm currently doing a bit of personal IT project and my friend has given me their old motorola defy for me to use.
What I'm trying to do is flash a new rom to the device so that I can access the play store on it, as currently it's unsupported. I have rooted the device, I'm just very unsure on how to do this next part. I was originally going to use CyanogenMod but I'm aware of the fact it has now been taken over by Lineage OS instead.
Would it be possible if someone could tell me which would be the best rom to flash to this device or give me a step by step guide that will tell me how to do it? Or is this device so unsupported that it's no longer possible for me to this?
Thanks

Just use CM 7 for Gingerbread or the last Quarx's CM nightly. We do not have Lineage OS builds.

Hey there, I've recently bought a Nexus 7 with the latest os already installed on it, which has made it run slower with every passing day.
I did a bit of googling and found that a lot of people had issues with their Nexus 7s after they upgraded to the latest os.
So now I'm wanting to downgrade to the previous os and I read in an article on Androidcentral that said getting a custom rom would be the best way to go to (I'm guessing) either get a previous os or get a streamlined version of the one I already have.
So I need help finding the best rom for my purposes, I'm very new to this sort of thing, in terms of roms, flashing and downgrading os and such so any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'd love to be able to use this tablet St something other than the speed of smell lol.
@EddieHades welcome to the community. First of all it's always the best method using a custom ROM, but make sure you have unlocked bootloader. If you don't have unlock bootloader then you've to do it first, make sure you've backed up all your data. Second choice if you want to stick with stock rom. Then just go to this link and download your preffered stock ROM as per your device, make sure you've downloaded proper images. Then download Nexus Root Toolkit and flash that image and you're good to go.
hi I have this tablet That my girlfriend had before we were dating and I modded it a long time ago and I dont remember exactly what model it is. I think its a tab 2. its 10.1 inch I know it was the nook edition. I can tell you it currently has an unofficial version of cm 13 and the device is listed as sm-t530. What i want to try to do is put an official version or very stable unofficial version of cm on it. The gapps always crash on it and the battery dies really fast. So can anyone tell me if I can use the p5110 rom listed on the cm downloads page? Or if there is something here i can use. And also where is the best place to get gapps from? That seems to be my biggest issue with this tablet I cant seem to get the gapps working right. It has been a while since I have tinkered with android roms because I finally got a nexus 6p and that phone doesnt even need modding it just works. Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey I just realized that this is in the wrong forum. How can I move it to the q&a? Sorry it's been a while and I wasn't paying attention to what forum I was in.
Hi,
As the owner of a Nexus device, I am used to regular OS updates with included security patches. Since my Android Lenova Book has not updated yet, I started to look around
to see what could be find on the internets about that. I did not find much, but on the Lenove website I did find the Open Source Code for our Book.
http://support.lenovo.com/nl/nl/products/Tablets/Yoga-Series/YOGA-Book/ZA0V?tabName=Downloads&linkTrack=Mast:SubNav:Supportrivers%20and%20Software|Drivers%20and%20Software&beta=false
After downloading and unzipping it, to me it seems that these are the prop files you need to create a custom / updated rom. Since I am not that savvy on the subject, I only compiled a few roms, It would be nice if somebody could tell me if this is indeed the code that is needed to compile an updated rom and what steps should be taking to make this happen?

I, too, would love to see this happen.
I own the Windows version, but I've been flirting heavily with the idea of dual-booting. The major obstacle at the moment appears to be that Remix and the other x86 android builds don't recognize or support the halo keyboard. I'd love to have a ROM or something I could install to get the proper Android experience.
I'm down for this... providing my Book arrives soon (in AU so it'll take its time). If I find anything, or get enough free time to throw together a custom ROM I'll update. But I can't guarantee the latter (custom ROM from myself) as it will be a big learning experience.

Have you had a look at the current version of Android Lenovo provides? That certainly does support the Halo keyboard.

If you go to this post, I've helped someone in the same boat as yourself. Read through the comments, that should give you a tutorial on how to flash the ROM so that you have Google.

yeah ok but I have Yoga Book A12 version.
Hi all.
I have a Moto G5 Plus(XT1687) that I would like use a custom ROM on. In fact I bought a second one to specifically do this with. I have only done this once with a Samsung Galaxy S5 and the MicroG version of LineageOS 14.1
With the Moto G5 Plus there are some extra steps from what I gather(you have to get permission from Motorola in order to unlock the bootloader is one example). And there are some intimidating things that I am just unsure about - such as to install Arrow you have to have Oreo 8.1 installed - but when you unlock the bootloader it wipes the phone? So how is this possible? Do I have to install the stock Oreo ROM first? Where do I get the stock ROM?
I have done a couple of months of searching for guides but have found different instructions and some with broken links to software on google drives or other sites I am not sure are safe. I asked about on the subreddit for Moto G and they pointed me here(which I have read a lot here over the past several months.).
Here is what I know:
1) I will need to enable developer options and USB debugging on the phone
2) I will have to get a code from the phone through abd and fastboot. In order to unlock the bootloader, I have to contact Motorola. give them a code and they will send me a code in order to do so(correct?)
3) I need to install TWRP in order to flash any ROM and other software, such as Gapps.
What I am asking of the community:
1) Legitimate link to the software needed.
2) Recommendations for ROMs. What do I want? I want to get be able to get out of the clutches of Google as much as possible. I understand that Android is Google, but most of the custom ROMs have removed most of the Google code. There is not a ROM from the MicroG website for Potter, which is what I really wanted(is this just LineageOS with thew micro Gapps?) I also have found replacement apps for almost all of my normal apps in the F-Droid repository. Ones I have studied: LineageOS(no official for Moto G5 Plus), Arrow OS, HavocOS and RessurectionOS. I have heard there are many out there. Important to have the actual phone part working well.
3) What is the differences in the different Gapps packages(Open Gapps, Mind the Gapps)?
4) What is this magisk I keep on reading about? Is that just for root? And don't you need root to install TWRP?
5) A step by step guide to make sure I don't jack this up. Even though this is my 'play' phone, I would like it to become my daily driver and plan on getting a SIM card as soon as I can get a stable OS on it.
6) Any tips or recommendations for someone like me.
I appreciate any input.
Thank you.
OK, I found this, but it is over a year old.
Is the info there still relevant? Is there anything that has changed since it was posted?
one two and three of what you know is ok.
The custom rom must be for the device.
On my motog5 plus I use Crdroid-Rom without Google Gapps.
Magisk is used to get root, that is, make changes and view the root of the device.
The information is valid. Rom-are outdated.
Thank you. Doing more research. Hopefully I will have a functioning device by the end of the weekend.
If you want smoothest experience try citrus-CAF its pure CAF rom its very nice smooth and fast.
Hi, my wife give the other day an old lenovo b8000-f she had at her work. I't new with little use with use, but of course i can't be perfect i shas android 4.4.2, very old. I fanybody know some roms plese tell me.

Aloha, I looking for any ROM to update my Lenovo B8080-F as well, however, at the moment I couldn't find anything relative to this even on Google. I just found this to Install a Recovery TWRP https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0-touch-recovery-t3282520
We appreciate if someone read this and got any idea where can we find a ROM to update our old tables.
Cheers!
Does anybody have a link to a custom ROM for a Lenovo B8000? Seen the instructions to install TWRP but don't see much point in doing that unless there's a ROM available.

I'm looking too. It seems such a shame to let an old decent tablet like this go to waste...
