So my phone is still on release zv3 firmwire.i used dirty santa to root and am running a us996 based rom so i can use gsm networks. But there are so many bugs in the early firmwire.the main one is Wi-Fi keeps slowing down after a while.this is a noted problem on the v20 and LG even knows about it.so im sure its fixed in the later updates.as for the issue itself, it just slows your wifi to a crawl.google seaches takes forever speedtest drops from 180 mbps to 40. While i have my note 4 and laptop on the same network at the same time running full speed and loading pages in a instant.this problem is so annoying.google seaches take like a good 16 secs or so.soon as i toggle wifi off and on its back to full speed and instant seaches for like 10 mins then back to crawl .and no its not the rom, ive tried the stock sprint as well same issue.like i said, lots of early users were having this problem but i guess a update has resolved it now.My question is, how to i update the firmwire while staying rooted? might consider unrooting since this is driving me nuts.can i just update to zv5 since its still rootable? There is no kdz for ls997 though !!!!
Thanks

It's been happening for a while now. I can have full signal on H, then suddenly no H, E, or G. Data does not reconnect automatically; I have to force it by switching Airplane mode On/Off. I saw something in the forums about a radio update, but I heard that removes ability to change permroot/S-OFF. Please help me clarify this, and if there is an update, is it safe and should I install it.
Stock ROM, temp-rooted with Visionary and permrooted with HBOOT/WPTHIS_OTA method. Kernel is the one linked in my signature thing [1497KHz] and pushed Wi-Fi module. Hopefully that's enough info. Let me know if you need my SSN# ...lol

Does it do this when the phone is still???
Max. (Desire z)
Don't see how that correlates with my problem? Still or moving, it happens randomly.

I have been experiencing this exact problem quite often over the last two weeks. I am using CM 6.1.1 in Chicago.
same situation happens to me...nvr seem to have a solid 3g/H in my house. While my blackberry will be having 3G all day. The g2 will fluctuates from H -> G -> E and stays like that. So annoying that ruins the experience of having a good data phone.
Same problem here! It happens from time to time, I have to switch off/on data to get reconnected.
Also happens when I turn off wifi after a long period of use, It won't reconnect to the carrier's data.
I had this when I switched over to CM 6.1.1. I thought it was CM so I flashed my backup, then decided to try it again. The problem I found was Pershoot's kernel. My data connection would drop and come up on it's own and was happening while I was using data. I've been running CM 6.1.1 with it's kernel and haven't had this problem since.
Same here running latest Virt (tmous g2) and I *think* it's running a pershoot hybrid.
I have never run Pershoot's kernel, and have always used the kernel included with CM. It seems to be recent (last two weeks) problem for me. The phone cycles from 3G->G->E->3G->H. The worst, however, is when it shows 3G->H but cannot connect to anything. The only solution is to turn off the data and let it reconnect.
I think it might actually be network related and not hardware / software. Maybe too many new phones activated around the Holidays? The reason I think this is that my Nexus One keeps having similar problems --- even on different ROMs.
Could be either?
I used to be on Mobilicity in Canada and experienced this (random disconnects from data several times a day, wouldn't automatically reconnect), switched to Wind and I haven't had this problem.

Data Problems...
Ignore my signature I'm currently on G2.
I think the problem you all have might be a TMobile problem.
I live in Madison TN / Nashville TN and I been having that data drop problem for going on a year now. Happended on every phone I been on Mytouch 3G Mytouch Slide Samsung Vibrant HD2 and now I'm on the G2 that I bought yesterday. Also had the same problem on a Nexus one.
The situation was that I will have all my bars and a 3G/H symbole and my connection would just fall a sleep with the 3G still in corner. Put phone in airplane mode and take it out airplane mode and my downloads will resume.
This process would happen after 15 min or 20 min of constant data.
2 days ago I started calling tmobile to get this fixed. Told them I didn't have this problem on ATT and Verizon so they put in a service ticket with the engineers and they claim it should be resolved in the next couple days if mot to give them a call back and to forward my call straight to level 2 tech support.
More people should complain about it.
That happended across atleast 5 different pda phones and 3 different sim cards. Yeah some of the phones had custom roms but each phone shouldn't have the same symptons.
The cellular towers in my area must really have a problem and I'm expecting a credit on my account lol.
PS connection is perfect on Edge though... Just slow...
Could it be because of overclock?? What if a certain CPU speed doesn't play well with the radio?? Just a thought...

For that to happen to me on 5 different devices that will tell you that CPU speed has nothing to do with it. Best I can say is to reset your phone to stock and give TMobile a call and let them know the situation. If you dont, nothing will be done about it.
I say to return to stock because if you dont, there reps will try there best to put the blame on you and the custom software. But from my experience being on Nexus One / MyTouch Slide / MyTouch 3G / Samsung Vibrant / HD2 / G2 all having the same exact problem????
Yeah the problem is on TMobile end...

Is it the same EXACT problem I'm describing? Or are you talking about general reception? Because some people on here with different ROMs (or radios) have mixed results. I'm in an HSPA+ area with full signal usually, but I keep having my data disconnecting. After a while it comes back, but I don't like to wait that long. I just switch radio on/off. :/

Yeah it sounds like the same exact problem to me which I had on all those other phones too. Im like you I dont feel like waiting so I switch to airplane mode on and off and the data comes back.
Or Il just drop to 2G Edge only and the connection is stable just slow though.
I couldnt find a solution online so now I got tmobile reps in the picture to get this resolved for my area though.
Count me in. I HAD a BB 9700 and it behaved the same way you guys are talking about but i didn't have to set it to airplane mode to reset the connection. I do however have to restart my G2 sometimes to get it connects to Tmobile network again. It is such an inconvenience.
I'm on stock rooted rom by fastludeh.

Yeah TMobile need to get this fixed. I plan on giving them a call back on Monday or Tuesday since my 3G connection still continues to drop.
Im currently on ALL stock on the G2. Havnt did any modifications yet.
Would changing the radio help? i see there is other radio firmware available...not sure if that will do anything for our phones. Currently sticking to my 9700 for now until this issue is fixed or if i get bored of the 9700 and jump back to the G2

Na I dont think changing radio will work. I tried multiple radios and custom roms on the HD2 and same situation over and over.
Having problems with everything connection on my g2 it started happening like two weeks ago. Random no service for like a minute then full bars and hspa never use to do it but now it does frustrating as heck oh on a stock froyo too wtf

On Monday I got an T-Mobile OTA notification on my phone for Kit Kat as most of you probably already have. I decided to reject it and I looked up how to get that alert off my notification bar which is basically, go under cache/FOTA and delete the update that was downloaded. I did and it worked. But ever since then I feel like my data has decreased dramatically. I don't know if it's because of the rejected update or what but all of a sudden the network just goes super slow. as in 1mbps compared to about 20mbps that I normally have.
Has anyone rejected the OTA update and if so, did your data also slow down considerably? I have a nandroid backup from about 2 weeks ago that I'm thinking of restoring my phone to see if it changes anything but if I do, I know I'll get prompted with the same update again which I don't really want to take. (I'm rooted with TWRP recovery and stock ROM) It's just a hassle to go through it all again after what feels like a couple of months ago with the 10G update. My phone was working perfectly the way I had it and I just wish to go back to it. Right now it kind of feels like my old phone (LG Connect) which for this nightmare is the main reason I got rid of it in the first place. You guys' help would be much appreciated. thanks
Restore nandroid then freeze the update app with titanium or something similar.
It also may just be a coincidence and your network is having some temp issues.

I followed muniz_ri's post yesterday to upgrade my VZW S5 to Android 5.0, and it went perfectly!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...l/how-to-update-to-g900vvru1boa8-5-0-t3020546
I am having ZERO issues, screen rotation is fine. However, the one thing I did notice was the 4G signal bar was very low.
I live within 3 blocks of a VZW tower, and it has the latest AWS (XLTE) upgrade. With 4.4.4, I had FULL signal and was pulling 45-65mb consistently.
Now after the update, my signal bars are in-between 1-3. I've tried several speed tests, and they would max out at 5mb. I've tried switching in-between Global and LTE/CDMA with little to no difference.
Has anyone else seen or has had this issue? Would it be possible to flash back to the older 4.4.4 base band/radio or is not compatible?
Thanks for your help!
I have noticed the same thing. I noticed on my normal commute where I would be in strong to low 4G, It now switches to 3G when in the low spots.. Going to try a clean install again and see what happens.

Thanks.. Im about to do the same myself, but think that I'll wait a few days and see what happens.
same here
I actually went looking through the forums for this problem because after the lollipop update I've noticed a very weak signal. People on the other end of my phone conversations have commented several times in the last couple of days that it sounds like I'm on a bad connection so I'm pretty sure it's not just me. I started with a clean install, so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
It is also of note that I am NOT having any other major issues. The 5 .0 update is running great. My battery life is not as good as I expected it to be, I don't get through a full day on a charge anymore. I can live with that, but this signal thing is going to kill me. I'll have to roll back to 4 .4.
Has any one found a solution to this problem I've tried to factory reset and re down load each step and I have horrible reception dropped calls like crazy my text messages fail constantly as well as pic messages it's beginning to piss me off lol but also good to know I'm not the only one having problems

This has been happening for a couple months. Seems like a couple times a day I lose my data connection, and the only fix is to reboot. After that it's fine for a while, until it drops again...
Running rooted 6.0.1, radio version 3.61. Anything I can check? Or should I just flash a new image?
I have this issue, flashing different radios did nothing for me. The hardware is just going bad I think
Been having the same issue for a couple months now, going to my carrier for a new SIM and resetting APN did nothing. Thought it was my ROM at first and ended up flashing a few different ones along with kernels, it was never fixed. Data drops and comes back about 10 minutes later, every half hour or so. Seems to not effect calling or messaging, only data. Is this a confirmed hardware issue?
My wife and I both had our 6P's doing this as well. Seems like the device will get in a connection loop or something. the WiFi drops, then my 4g data signal, then both are out, then WiFi turns on, Data turns on, then repeats the process. I usually reboot, or toggle airplane mode off and on to stop it. Its periodic, but it doesn't last long on my end. I'm on T-Mobile BTW
UPDATE - REFER YOU TO THIS LINK. Looks like radio files from Android O Beta DP4 are confirmed to fix the T-Mobile Cell Signal Bug
Hopefully, this means our prayers have been answered

My radio didn't drop once on the way to work today, hell, it's still going right now. I actually think it's been fixed
is it ok to apply the updated radio without upgrading android (staying on 6.0.1)? i heard there have been some issues with 7.x on the Nexus?

I do not know its comptibility with 6.0.1 - you could just make a backup and give it a try.
conversely I must say - Nougat on good ROMs is stable and gets good battery life. What are you concerns with just joining the party here on Nougat?

I'm running rooted stock android. Haven't made the move to any custom ROMs yet. I recall when Nougat first landed people were reporting some issues with it on the 6P (battery life? instability?).
That being said I'm open to loading a Nougat ROM if it's gonna be stable. Is there any consensus on top ROM for the 6P (something close to stock android experience)?
Close to stock with aroma installable features, check superxe rom, you can choose between nougat or Android O.
Hi guys,
noticed a strange thing with wifi last days. I don't know it has to do with the last update but it came to my attention that wifi speeds were superslow so I opened ookla speed test and let it run. (just for info; before I got up to 90+ Mbps down/10 down on my home network with this phone).
Results on the same network are now around 3 Mbps down/9 up.
At first I thought it was a problem with my network but I did the speedtest on my Mi pad 4 and there I got normal speeds of 91 Mbps down/7 up.
Any idea what's going on here?
I'll add a screenshot of the 2 tests performed (OP6T and Mi pad 4)
I'm all stock, non rooted and on OOS 9.0.15.
Thanks for your time
Small update; after rebooting phone a few times I managed to get to about 40Mbs download but still not the full 90 available

I am on OB15 but mine is working fine. One thing I did notice on mine though is if I did the OTA (Smaller incremental update) that I would have problems sometimes. Since I started downloading the full update and putting that on my SD and updating with that I don't run into as many problems. I also go into recovery and wipe cache after updating.
Thanks for the info. Flashed the full update and cleared cache but still the same (although I'll definitely will do my next updates this way as you're saying it's causing less trouble).
Finally got it fixed by forgetting the wifi network and reconnect again. Stupid I didn't think about it earlier.

Glad you got it fixed...I admit I didn't think of that either LOL. Sometimes the fix is so simple we just look right past it. But yes, I have had way less problems updating with the full update instead of letting the phone just download the incremental parts.
I'd check your router and other sources I have no issues on Wi-Fi other than the fact that I cannot max out my connection unless I'm hardwired. I have FiOS 500/500.
