Larger apps will take a few seconds to load as expected. Small every day apps launch with very respectable speed. You can only notice the difference if you have a high end phone side by side.

This is an interesting one. Most of the time apps launch as expected, but sometimes it doesn't respond. The weird part is that the lollipop finger press animation is always there. I get the impression there's probably some more bugs in the os that have yet to be ironed out.

Pretty much instantaneous. Even mapping and navigation apps with offline map files load and are ready to use in less than a second. No complaints in that area.
I concur apps are loaded nearly instantaneously even when not in the background.
