I managed to root my us997 and wanted to tinker more with it. But now I managed to get my phone stuck in a bootloop and am able to get into twrp. I tried flashing the uninstaller from 8/29/2016 but it keeps failing. what do i do?
If the uninstaller doesn't work you probably have to reflash stock.

My phone is rooted but I want to install TWRP so I can install Magisk to hide root status from some apps. I've tried downloading the TWRP official app but after I flash the latest img (3.2.1.0) and boot to recovery I get a "Start Up Failed" message.
I've also tried using Odin to flash it (without root status) and I keep getting "SHA 256" error. Any tips?

You can't flash TWRP if the bootloader is locked. Since it appears you have a US version of Verizon's S8, the bootloader is locked. I know they've released Safestrap which can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/development/recovery-locked-nougat-7-0-safestrap-t3772760, maybe that will help? I don't think you'll be able to flash Magisk though.....

Ah okay.. This is unfortunate hah. I only wanted TWRP to have Magisk in order to hide root status, but I guess I'd be better off unrooting then. Actually, I will try safestrap first. Thanks!
edit: Wait if I just downgrade firmware to anything 6.0+ that has TWRP working that should work right?

this device was released with 7.0 no magisk either only su
So I just got my Nexus 6p today and I've tried rooting this thing but it just kept making me stuck on the google logo. I successfully unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP but everytime I installed from ZIP SuperSU or Magisk it would keep getting me stuck on the google logo. I've tried this several times because I could still go to bootloader. I've flashed the stock image a couple of times and reinstalled TWRP but I just can't get it to root.
Edit: I have flashed to stock and I'm on 6.0. I haven't tried reinstalling TWRP but the bootloader is unlocked and everything else is stock.
Edit 2: I just flashed TWRP and now I'm stuck on the google logo. Wtf is this??

Could be because you are on older version of Android. Did you make sure you are on the correct bootloader? Anyways I found with stock you must complete the initial setup then you can go back and root later. I've had success with Magisk 16.0 on nougat and Oreo so don't see why it wouldn't work on marshmallow.

What is a 'correct bootloader' anyway? I am on the latest bootloader and flashed latest factory images and still bootlooping, can't even make it to recovery mode (flashed 4-cores TWRP after I flashed stock).

Ok sorry you said 6.0 in comment that's why I asked about bootloader. Also thought was just the root giving you a hard time not the dreaded bootloop that some 6Ps get.
Hey everyone,
I tried installing magisk 16.0
firstly i did ,
unlocked bootloader,
then installed twrp recovery 3.2.1
booted the phone installed magisk manager,
then again in twrp recovery
i tried flashing the magisk 16.0,the magisk gets flashed but the phone does not boot up to system,
i dont get what mistake i am doing,
i want to use the 'CAMERA2 API' on my moto g4 plus,
and nothing else
But they say you need to root for that,
so i am trying
Please help me with this...
You need to flash a custom kernel (ElementalX) before rooting your device when using stock firmware.
In addition to thorin0815's message, you cannot root on the stock Motorola kernel - attempting to root on the hudsoncm kernel causes bootloops. You may be able to reboot to TWRP, restore your TWRP backup (you did make a backup, right?) then flash ElementalX, then magisk. If you're still bootlooping, you may have to re-flash the stock ROM then try again.

I'm not sure if king root or the one click root would work, if they don't flash the custom kernel first you'd be back with a non booting device. Best to flash root yourself, that way you'll also learn the process too

Galaxy S8 Exynos [SM-G950FD] Android Oreo 8.0.0
Hello. it's my first time posting here. So I've had a successful attempt at flashing TWRP and Magisk into my phone. Today I accidentally plugged in my charger while it was in the process of rebooting, so it entered my device into kind of a bootloop. I solved this by going into Download Mode and pressing 'Cancel', which prompted my device to successfully reboot and work again.
The problem is that I've somehow lost my root. None of my apps can get root access, CPU-Z says no root available, and Magisk Manager said "Magisk is not installed". Idk how I got to this because yesterday all was working, I assume it's because I got a bootloop or went into Download Mode.
I tried to install the official Magisk ZIP file from the Manager, go into recovery mode, and flash it via TWRP. Unfortunately this didn't work. This is the only solution I can come up with besides reflashing Stock and having to flash Magisk again and wipe all my current data. If anyone has any suggestions please comment down below as I'm kinda stuck rn. They would be greatly appreaciated!

Thanks. I tried the methods listed in the "Lost root randomly" section and unfortunately they didnt work. Do you have any other ideas? Maybe I could "Select and Patch a File" in Magisk's Install but afaik Magisk doesnt have its img./tar. file.
I should probably just flash a fresh stock and redo the root process, but then my data will be wiped and I dont really want that lol

Have you tried the uninstaller through magisk or twrp then try again with magisk.
When trying to re-install magisk do you get any errors.
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
Also if worried about losing apps/data do a backup before trying anything.
The easiest way is to flash firmware and start from scratch again but backup first.
Hey, everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. So, I was avoiding any updates because I didn't want to lose root. Well, I eventually did update Lineage and lost root. Now for some reason I can't regain it. I have a OnePlus 6T (T-Mobile, bottloader unlocked, obviously ), Linkage 17, and Magisk. Originally I flashed TWRP as a temp recovery, installed Magisk and Lineage (and Root Checker), and everything was fine - until the update. Now when I try to sideload with ADB nothing happens. I just receive a CMD error "ADB: requires an argument..." Long story short. I'd like to know how I can just completely start over, from scratch, flash different OS and keep root. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Do you still have twrp as recovery?

No, Lineage has installed itself as the recovery. I still have TWRP (the app) on my phone, but whenever I try to do anything with it, it crashes.

When I look it up to my laptop (the same one I used to root and install everything, ADB will recognize my device, I can run commands, but something won't allow me to actually install anything. I receive "and.exe: requires an argument". I've tried every which way I could think of to try and make it install, but nothing is working.
