So I just rebooted my phone and it keeps saying my pattern is wrong, I've also got Rice tweaks installed so I can use iris and fingerprint on startup but iris keeps saying not working and nothing at all from the fingerprint.
Also since I've disabled power menu my phone is just stuck on the lock screen, anything I can do or would I just have to wait until it dies?

Luckily I had Cerebus installed and I rebooted my phone from there and it worked fine.
Not sure why it suddenly stopped working then...

Happened to me dozens of times, mostly on stock ROM. Simple reboot fix that. It is OS bug.

hi everybody,
i have a strange situation. i am running cromxi 5.1.1 with kernel _thatv5. this i have already flashed a while ago, and everything was working perfectly (so i assume, i have done everything correct while wiping and flashing...).
but today when i startet my tab, it got a bootloop. at the end it says something like 'android is updated and apps are startet', but then starts booting from the beginning. unfortunately i cannot enter the bootloader menu with pressing the vol up key.
does anybody has an idea what went wrong?
as i said, it was working perfectly until today and i did not install any strange new apps...

So did you flash a new ROM today, or did it just stop working?

no, i flashed it when it was released, before that, i was already running the previous versions of cromix.
so far without problems. today it stopped working.
i now managed to get into bootloader menu (took me quite a while...). i wiped everything and installed cromix5.1.1 from scratch. worked until all apps were installed and updated, then the same problem appeared again... i will try now to figure out, which app is responsible...

If you are using TI, make sure you dont restore system data. that usually ends in complications for me

If you are constantly getting "Android is upgrading... Optimizing app __ of ___," you should try flashing an updated CROMi-X 5.1.1 ROM from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46957469&postcount=883
It's updated to fix the "Android is upgrading... on every boot" issue that was reported by some users. But, if you were using the Deodex version, then you might have a different issue and don't need this update.
And yes, I would also recommend clean install with "Wipe Dalvik & Cache" when installing CROMi-X 5.1.1. Weird and unexpected problems can sometimes occur when doing dirty flashing. Good luck :good:
After my first upgrading attempt (5.1 << 5.1.1) I've had the same issue. So I did a clean re-install (wipe cache + davlik) good luck.
yes, u have to do clean reinstall. if not it will stuck at bootloop again.
Hi guys
i have a custom rom, nougat 7.1 installed and its been working fine. last night i installed an aftermarket battery replacement as the other wasnt holding a charge. after turning on by simply pressing the power switch it went straight to twrp recovery and kept doing so. this morning i cleared the cache and data to start again which was a bit of hassle and it then booted fine. however, i just restarted again and its in the same loop.
i have checked for any obvious obstruction under the rear case that could be pressing against the volume keys but there isnt anything.
any ideas?
cheers
Did you try to reflash everything, e.g. also the ROM?

i didnt really want to do that unless i really had to. as i say, before the battery swap it was fine
But if you cleared already cache *and* data all your data is already lost, e.g. it's like a factory reset. So flashing a new ROM will not worse the situation ...

Hello guys !
I was rocking OOS 4.5.3 with TWRP and root all fine, and I tried some dualboot stuff that I saw here on XDA (plot twist, don't try it) and then I ran into issues
I managed to reinstall the rom fine, but at the reboot, my fingerprint sensor wasn't picking up my fingers
I found out that when I try to register a fingerprint, it works fine, untill the last step where it stop picking my finger (not even vibrates)
I also noticed that it's impossible to delete a stored fingerprint
Any ideas ?

On man I'm in totally the same situation with you! I tried that dualboot too and stuck in boot screen, so i flashed the original rom zip and managed to boot well but the fingerprint isn't working any more......:crying:waiting for solutions
Okay, now that I woke up I will try to do a data wipe, I'll tell you about it, please do tell me if you find something
I'm also unable to activate wifi
Sounds like a good question for the dual boot thread.
If I remember right from previous threads about dual boot on other devices is, you should delete your original fingerprint or set it up as no lock before doing all the stuff with dual boot. I might be wrong.

Well, can't see where it is listed in the instructions, but thankfully this issue is nothing a full wipe can't fix

It's not, it was just a user having that issue on a Nexus 6P. Reset should fix. Set it up without a lock on it, then you should be able to set up fingerprints for each rom.
Thinking about. It, that sounds like a lot of hassle if you just want to try out different roms quickly.

I did not do this dual boot but I ran into WiFi not activating (endless searching for a WiFi access point), but I was able to fix it. Your probably uninterested in how I got into the situation but I fixed it with a previous nandroid backup done with one of the earlier versions of TWRP. Here are the steps that recovered WiFi:
Using TWRP, advance wipe Dalvik & Cache
Restore from a nandroid backup (OOS v4.5.2 in this case) ONLY system & /System
Reboot into the system and ignore TWRP's no OS warning
Using TWRP, advance wipe Dalvik & Cache
Reboot back into TWRP recovery and flash the Full v4.5.5 OTA file (~1.6GB) AND flash root (e.g. SuperSU)
Clear Dalvik&Cache and reboot into the system
After I did that everything return back to normal including the WiFI issue. The fingerprint scanner is working normally and I never lost any data what so ever.
I installed 8.1 last week. Everything was working smoothly. Was trying magisk youtube mod. Screwed something up. Phone went into bootloops. Reinstalled everything .Wiped data. Now my phone reboots randomly. Everything stock .Rooted with Magisk. Mainly it happens whenever i launch a new app(An app which was not launched before). After few tries, the app opens up and doesnt' result in reboot.
Any ideas what could it be ?
You should of wiped system and cache also might be your problem. Also if you where using any substratum themes remove then manually as well. Not sure if they would cause reboots.

FC's are one thing but random reboots are a completely different animal. I would completely wipe the phone and apply the latest factory image using flash-all.bat. If that doesn't fix it you may have a hardware issue (eg. degraded battery).
Wiping caches helped
I'm running SUPERXE-8.1.0-OPP5.005_v1.5.1.
My 6P was going crazy, restarting every 5 minutes or so. It rebooted so quickly it felt like a soft restart, so I thought powering off and rebooting to recovery using the power + down volume to clear the cache in TWRP would help.
Cleared system and Dalvik and powered down. Full reboot and (for now) it feels much happier and hasn't spontaneously restarted yet. That was about 15 hours ago.
Hope I didn't just Jynx myself, but I think it helped...
I've flashed the final 8.1 images to upgrade my 8.0 unmodified system. Now I've random reboots, usually when I've leave home to go to work or vice versa. Something related to wifi, that I'm connecto on both my work and home?
Same here I had to factory reset I'm having a feeling it's going to happen again. I am on factory, rooted with magisk. I always use SuperSU not saying that is what it is however it did happen when I got home from work and just kept rebooting before I could unlock.
Hi everybody.
Dis morning I woke up and I realized that my phone was gone. I used AOSP Extendend ROM when it happens. At first, the rom completely froze. I thought it was a bug, so I rebooted the phone, but after did dis, the phone kept on rebooting and froze on first screen and I couldn't do anything. Touch didn't respond, nothing worked.
So I tried to go on recovety, but nothing.
At the end, I gave up about take back my data and try to install the stock ROM through MiFlash. I tried different stock ROM, but at the first they works, but during the installation guide they froze again and reboot. I can't even finish the setup!
So I tried again, unlock bootloader, flash TWRP, but still there:
- only TWRP v2.0 works, other versions won't start
- even with TWRP v2.0, after did wipe everything and format, when I tried to install a custom ROM, even TWRP froze and reboot the phone
- TWRP is pretty useless, it keeps on froze and when I boot recovery again, TWRP is locked and I have to format everything again, but still don't work.
Someone could tell me what happened to my phone? Any suggestions about what I could to to install something on my phone?
Pls help me, I am completely lost and disperate
You may in deed have a serious hardware problem.
What you can do without opening it up is to try charging it overnight, and see how it works tomorrow.
You have tried everything else you can think of, I assume, like wiping & formatting everything you can in TWRP, and possibly "repairing file system" if there is such an option.
The next thing I would try is opening it up and disconnecting the battery for a while, then connecting it again to see what happens.

Ok, I will listen your tip. Yeah, I have tried everything but nothing. Technically, I bought this phone last december, so it's still covered by warranty, but I have to send it to China, I would avoid that if I can.
I hoped there would be something that I didn't but...nothing.
Thanks anyway dude
