Custom Recovery - No Command Error - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a nexus 6p 7.1.2 aug security patch. I flashed the latest twrp 3.1.1.0 -angler.img. It successfully flashed. then when i manually try to boot into recovery mode an android figurine comes up and it says no command. how do i go to twrp. help!

How do you boot into recovery? what are the steps?
Can it be that you flashed the TWRP.img to another partition by mistake?

It sounds like even though the flash said it was successful it wasn't. As previously suggested you may have flashed it to the wrong partition or it just didn't go through. Attempt to your flash again. this has actually happened to me before and a reflash fixed it

If you boot normally after flashing twrp, it gets overwritten with custom recovery, you have to boot directly into twrp after flashing and root to keep it from being replaced with default recovery.

That is normal. The people who have replied so far have no clue how stock recovery looks like lol. It would seem that twrp has somehow been replaced.
From the no command dead android screen, press power button+ volume up ( or power up+volume down) for about a second ( typically 0.5-1 second) for the menu to appear.
For getting twrp, just reflash twrp.

Can't boot into recovery using vol down+power but can boot normally

Hi,
I can't boot into recovery using vol down+power but I can boot normally into OS and from there I can boot into recovery through ADB or third party apps.
I was trying to update my OP2 with new OxygenOS 3.0.2. As my device was rooted so I had to do it manually using TWRP. Till now I was able to boot into recovery by vol down+power.
Before flashing I wiped everything(dalvik+cache+system+data), rebooted into recovery and flashed the OOS3.0.2 full ROM. At this point the installation was successfull but I was not able to boot the OS, it was stuck on the loading screen. After several attempts to boot OS, I finally tried to boot into recovery to flash again, but I was unable to. When I press vol down+power for few sec, the phone switches off with a vibration.
Later I found out that I was supposed to use a modified TWRP. So I flashed the modified TWRP via fastboot and flashed the OOS3.0.2 full ROM again, Now I can boot into OS normally but still I cannot boot into recovery by vol down+power. But the interesting thing is that I can boot into recovery through ADB or third party apps.
I tried flashing the TWRP recovery again with no luck. I thought this could be a problem with boot.img which is contained in ROM itself so I also flashed the ROM again with no luck. Also I am absolutely sure that this is not a hardware issue with by volume buttons as I can use them properly when I boot into OS.
A quick thought, is it possible that the boot.img of the ROM itself is broken? Seems unlikely as I am not seeing anyone else having this issue. But if it is, is it ok to flash the boot.img from OOS2.x version ROM, will that be compatible? Just wanted to be sure before doing this.
Any other thoughts are welcome.
Are you used this command for flashing twrp??
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
You should add "flash", otherwise it won't install twrp in your mobile
yes I used that command only

After flash recovery use this command it will help to boot in twrp "fastboot boot recovery.img " without quotes
yes I know that, thats how I booted into recovery from fastboot for flashing the ROM. But I should be able to boot into recovery by vol down+power. That is why I posted this question.
Will you please send me screenshot of cmd?? after flash recover

Help twrp

I have a Huawei P9 Lite and i have installed twrp and android 7.0 on it. Now I want to install Google assistant, but when i try to boot in twrp recovery (volume down + power b) it shows me the screen where it says ''Installing update'' and then freezes at 5 % so i have to hold my power button to power off the phone.
If I dont try to run in the twrp, phone works just fine.
I apologize for my bad english.
Hi there,
I will move your thread in the correct forum dedicated to Huawei P9 Lite for more relevant answers.
Good luck
Bump..
Just to state that I am in the same boat here; as I am facing the same issue. Here's what happened in my case (using a guide found here at XDA-Developers):
-- unlocked the bootloader
-- booted to bootloader and flashed twrp
-- used adb to reboot to recovery (adb reboot recovery)
-- used twrp recovery to flash nougat update (two zip files, one ~1300mb and second ~680mb)
-- had some errors that were expected, the guide said ignore them and reboot after both zips have been flashed.
-- the flash overall was successful as the phone booted in emui 5 with android nougat. However, there was no virtual keyboard; so decided to do a factory reset
-- rebooted to recovery, but this time, the phone booted to huawei erecovery
-- did a factory reset, but to no avail
-- now, i can't boot into twrp to flash anything else. booting into bootloader and using fastload to flash recovery image is successful, but the phone does not boot to twrp recovery; remain stuck on "your phone is booting up" (or something similar).
My phone is not bricked, as basic telephony, wifi and built-in apps are working fine. But, without a keyboard, its pretty useless for everyday use. Any help in this matter will be appreciated.

Cant boot into TWRP

Hello, ive unlocked my bootloader on my h870 and ive flashed twrp. when ive just flashed it i was able to boot into twrp but now everytime i try to boot into it it wil wipe all my data with the stock lg recovery mode can someoneone please help me? Thanks! Just got the phone a few hours ago
You have to install a custom rom or root to make twrp permanent, if you don't do that it will install always after the first boot the stock recovery.

When you have flashed twrp, you do the buton combination to enter twrp, if you fail to enter twrp a the phone boots into system the stock recovery will be reflashed so you have to reflash twrp.
Try making these:
When you are in the bootloader after flashing twrp press button down+ power button. When the screen turns off quickly stop pressing power button and quickly press again until the lg logo appear.
When the lg logo appear stop pressing power button, quickly press again and stop pressing the power button and press again quickly until you see twrp logo.
These method works for me for booting twrp easily
The stock recovery appears but you have to select the factory reset option and it will boot into TWRP

Unfortunately still not succeeded after trying all the solutions i've found here
Hey, i have the same Problem, my TWRP broke, i can't boot into recovery and my Device ist not listed in fastboot mode. Can someone help me out?
I get the ring in windows when i plugin but its not recognizing.. Can someone pls help me out?
Okay, I'm going to try to explain it, and see if I can succeed where others have not.
You install TWRP by booting to bootloader and using fastboot to push a new recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
It seems like you accomplished that successfully. The next step is to immediately boot to recovery; do not boot the phone to system first. You will get the factory prompts for wiping data, but it will not actually wipe your data this time. Instead it will boot to TWRP.
Now, while you are in TWRP, you need to either root (flash Magisk) or install a custom ROM. If you do not, your next boot to system will remove TWRP and restore the stock recovery. If that happens, then the data-wiping prompts the next time you boot to recovery are real and the phone will wipe. So you MUST - must must must - root or install a custom ROM while you have TWRP up, in order for TWRP to persist.
If you have already experienced this problem, you need to start over at the beginning; flash TWRP again, and then follow the rest of these directions.
Maybe this will help clear up the problem for you guys.

Got the same problem. I unlocked Bootloader, checked if unlocked (yes). After flashing TWRP i see the TeamWin Screen and phone boot again. There is no TeamWin Menu.
A try with an older TWRP-Version and flashing via fastboot with another PC does not work too.
Anybody an idea?
Did you guys manage to fix it?
Matt.
Hey, for me worked to flash TWRP 3.1.1.0.

With 3.2.1.0, 3.2.2.0 and 3.2.3.0 it only briefly shows the TWRP screen and then boots into system anyway.
With 3.1.1.0 the key combination to boot into TWRP as with the other versions above simply doesn't work, again it directly boots into system without even showing the TWRP screen.
I'm stuck with a resetted phone because of this bull****, because some instructions said "oh, the reset dialog will not really reset your data..." - yeah thanks for nothing, buddy.
So what now?
EDIT: I got it working using TWRP 3.1.1.0, but the same version from the OFFICIAL site didn't work, as I described above.
The only 3.1.1.0 TWRP that works with my phone is the one from this Link: http://downloads.codefi.re/rashed/g6/
(which is linked ... somewhere here in the Forum, don't remember which thread)

Unlocked bootloader and installed twrp but magisk won't install

Alright so, I've managed to uppercut down to 13a from 1ca, unlock the bootloader, install twrp. Never installed supersu, but when the phone booted to twrp I installed the magisk zip with no errors. After booting the magisk manager never showed up as installed. Installed it manually, ran it, said magisk was not installed and device fails safetynet and pts. Downloaded the latest stable magisk, booted into twrp and tried flashing it AGAIN. This time I get an error that it can't flash it. I'm totally lost here. This is all I lack to have systemless root here. Also I can't seem to boot into recovery via button presses. I keep getting the pink triangle and despite holding vol+ and power, the device just boots normally. I have to force recovery via adb on pc.
Any ideas?

I kinda ran into a issue with magisk not installing properly and how I got around it was to get your roms boot image file and make a zip of it. Then, go to twrp and flash the boot image, then flash magisk.

You installed the magisk zip and the magisk manager apk? Did you try flashing the rom and installing masik and the apk again?
For some reason on the lg phones it won't boot directly to twrp. when you boot to recovery and it ask if you want to reset, select yes. If you have twrp installed, it will then boot into recovery.
I have not since my bootloader is unlocked I heard u can't go back to stock on the vs995

Nothing i suggested requires stock.
With the phone off
press and hold volume down
press the power button and hold until you see the lg logo
while holding the volume down, release only the power button and press it again and hold
if you did it correctly, you should be in recovery
it will ask if you are sure if you want to reset your phone a few times
select yes, and yes
If you have twrp installed it should boot up in twrp
Or
If you already have the bootloader unlocked, make sure that developer options are enabled
go and enable adb debugging
connect usb cable
use adb to boot into fastboot
use fastboot to boot into twrp
From twrp you can flash the rom zip, magisk zip, and then install the apk after the phone rom boots up
which rom are you using? which magisk zip? which magiskmanager.apk?

G4 Plus stuck on twrp recorvery unless booted through recovery mode (power+volume dn)

I recently installed twrp instructions and installed a custom ROM. Even since then the device boots normally into twrp recovery only. to boot into the rom, I have to boot through recovery, press power + volume dn and then it boots to the regular ROM. Should I start over on this or is there a way to change that preference so the device boots normally into the OS instead of twrp.
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else already. I looked.

I am facing same issue. I don't have twrp or custom rom but stock recovery and stock rom. Everytime I boot or restart my phone it goes to recovery mode!! I couldn't find solution yet and its very annoying.
Try following the steps in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4/help/troubleshooting-twrp-boot-loop-ota-t3714325 Of course, ensure you have backups before erasing anything.
