Anyone successfully use Pure Fusion with MintSim? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

I asked this question in Pure Fusion thread and got no help. Maybe I'll have better luck here. My phone carrier is MintSim which uses the T-Mobile network but has its own APN settings. On OOS I have a fantastic phone signal. On Pure Fusion I have almost no phone signal. I can't use the network settings from OOS because they do not exist on Pure Fusion. PF ported the network settings with no modifications from the Nexus version of the ROM. There are even two separate network settings for CDMA networks. OOS includes no CDMA settings because the OP5 is a GSM phone.
I'm curious if anyone who is a MintSim customer was able to successfully use Pure Fusion and if you did how? Or did someone on a different carrier have a problem with their phone signal on that ROM and figure out a way to get it to work?
I would like to try Pure Fusion because it's generally very highly recommended but I've clean flashed three different builds of that ROM and couldn't get a halfway decent phone signal once.
Can anyone help or for that matter explain why Pure Fusion is using network settings that are meant for a completely different phone? Are you supposed to use a different radio with that ROM? Is there a mod or program that helps?

Where would I go about diagnosing connection issues? MDA+TMO

Not to give away too much specific information, but I've got a new TMO MDA and the building I am in actually has TMO repeaters. Other TMO phones get perfect reception, and I can even put this new sim into my old unlocked HTC Typhoon and get perfect reception, yet my new TMO MDA won't get any signal.
I'm attempting to scour the registry to find some bit of info or a bit to flip or something of that sort to diagnose the issue. Our TMO rep apparently has RF engineers working on the issue, but if I can fix it sooner than they can I'd be happy.
So, basically, only these new MDAs (other new MDA owners are experiencing the same issue, as well as SDA owners) fail to authenticate to the repeaters in this building. I doubt the repeaters have a list of phones that allow authentication, since the Typhoon was never released by TMO and that can authenticate fine. So I'm thinking there is some bit on the MDAs that is sticking to one band frequency or another, or something to that effect.
Any idea where I could look for info, whether it be a web source or maybe a registry key I could tweak or something of the sort? I got the engineer mode to work (after another registry tweak to turn it on), and it isn't showing any information since the phone isn't connecting to any tower/repeater.
when you go to select networks to use, does the phone give you a list of possible cell networks?
Sorry if i sound obvious....but:
1. Have you compared the Roms on the phones? Maybe the new phone has a different rom which is causing the problem.
2. Have you tried the phone anywhere else outside your building...
3. The engineering mode will still work even without a SIM installed, so if your getting blank information then I think you have an old Rom
Hope this helps
Answers to questions in the thread:
1. If I go to select my networks manually, and it searches for networks, all it finds is the Cingular network, which I can not connect to. It won't find the TMO network at all. But I know it exists because other TMO phones work fine with full reception, and even my old Typhoon works with my new TMO sim in it.
2. The roms on all the MDAs shipped from TMO USA 1.8.10.2 and GSM rom 01.09.10.
3. Phone works entirely fine outside of the building. The building is shielded, but there are repeaters in the building for current TMO users. I know they work since other TMO phones other than the new MDA and SDAs work fine.
4. As for engineering mode... interestingly enough, now that I do have reception (I'm at home right now), I also get blanks. I thought that because I didn't get any reception, I wasn't getting anything from the engineering mode. But interestingly enough, I still don't even though I have reception.
Methinks I do need just the GSM rom. Someone mentioned it in another thread in the Wizard Upgrade forum. Where might I get just that ROM, maybe I'll give it a shot and see if it fixes before doing a full ROM upgrade (which I'd like to do for performance reasons, but I haven't gotten a definitive answer whether I can revert back to bone stone TMO roms with extended roms and everything yet).
I woould suggest getting hold of one of the phones that works, back up the registry, and restore it to the phone that doesn't work. That would tell you if its a registry setting, or a phone/rom problem

Well, there are no phones that work.
The phones that do work are your run of the mill non-smartphone phones, not a WM5 phone.
Actually, that's not true since my Typhoon is running Windows Mobile 5, but it is entirely different than the MDA.
Only all the stock MDAs shipped from TMO are failing to authenticate to these repeaters. Makes me think that updated the radio rom would help, or something on the repeaters is blocking just these two phones (the Wizard and the Tornado).
Try updating the wizard with one of these roms:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Tmobile/
Well, I updated the radio rom to 01.12.10...
And still wont connect to these repeaters. The phone seemed snappier to connect when I stepped outside of the building, though. So there is a plus. However, there has to be some reason the repeaters in this building are not allowing my phone to auth.

HTC MyTouch 3G - Cyanogen ROM no longer has data connection

I've unlocked a T-Mobile MyTouch 3G (32B) for AT&T. I rooted my phone yesterday purely out of spirit for experimentation. I've installed CyanogenMod-4.2.8.1, found on the website. I'm trying to connect to the market, but no type of data connection is being made.
The unusual part is that I have full signal strength. E or G sometimes pops on, but then drops off. I've quadruple-checked the APN settings, and they're fine. However, I did notice at one point the password had been deleted. I am aware that my phone version is not able to get on 3G band (although I'd like to find a hardware mod~)
I'm almost certain it's the Cyanogen ROM simply because before rooting, I had no data problems. Seems even a WiFi connection won't give me data. I've searched the internet to see if anyone else has had this problem, but it doesn't seem so. Any ideas?
Disabled WiFi and I have data. Apparently the two don't get along well. Just noticed an update to the ROM, so we shall see what will happen!
Or, if anyone has any suggestions on an alternative ROM, I'm not looking for anything too fancy (the MyTouch is serving as pure novelty at the moment; HTC Fuze is my primary phone). Speed and battery optimizations are most prefered, bluetooth/USB tethering a plus, and if it runs aHome or Home++ without a hitch, I'd be content.
I just upgraded to CM 4.2.9.1 on my MT3G 32B and am having data issues. Could it be a coincidence? Could it be T-Mobile upgrading to HPSA? Or could it be CM?
It's possible to be the ROM, as I'm on the AT&T network. I'll give the updated ROM a test as soon as I get some time to it.
Try reflashing radio. http://developer.htc.com/google-io-device.html
Works fine on my 32B Magic. Tried running fix_permissions, wiping and reflashing?
Got the same problem on my G1 with 4.2.9.1
When Wifi is active, after about 10 minutes i have no data connection anymore.
If i disable wifi i don't get this problem
i too have had this problem on my three magic 32a. i rebooted this morning and it went back to normal though. have only seen it once so i can't really comment on the cause. typically i have wifi always on and location by networks off...
How did you install CM?
Did you install the HTC 1.6 rooted base first, then the CM image after without re-booting?
You have to the first time you install CM. You don't say whether you did or didn't.
Did you remember to configure the APN correctly???
maybe related to instal issue?
I have the same issue but did "install the HTC 1.6 rooted base first, then the CM image after without re-booting". However upon booting into Cyanogen, I couldn't get past the "touch the android" screen and thus had to boot back into recovery mode and clear all data. After reboot I was able to pass the touch the android screen, but perhaps that wiped the 1.6 base settings?
Do I need to re-install, what if i have the same problem with getting past touching the android again?
I haven't tried updating the radio, but will try that first.
mobile network data
Found it: looks like toggle for mobile network data is turning it self off. Other than to conserve battery / airplane mode is there ever a reason to have it off? (is it bad to have on with WiFi?)
thanks.

? Porting and how it works on VZW's network

I just purchased a network range extender because I apparently purchased a lead bunker for a home and would like to enjoy making phone calls from with in 50ft. of the front door. After getting it setup I realized over the week that, correct me if I am wrong, Hero ported ROMs will not work with it. I have tried ZenEXP v7, Alyous11 and 12, and CE all will not get more than 2 bars in certain places just as it did before the range extender. I have used Senseless and EE and full bars every where.
Sure I know it's like the Dr.'s says if it hurts don't do that but I am partial to one and even donated because of his work. Not equating donating to make it work either just saying I found a ROM I want. Is there something in build.prop or other Identifying flags in the ROM's that cause this issue? I do know that a range extender will not work with a hybrid PRL both the store rep and the 611 tech stated that. I had to be taken off of it when I bought it but I didn't flash the PRL so I assumed that it was already done when the ROM was ported or part of the build. I have done *228 with no avail to make signal any better.
Sorry to ramble just wanted to get all the info out you may want to know. Maybe you know about this and there is no fix or it is new but thanks for all of the Dev's work.
Similar to certain Verizon-only apps like NFL Mobile not working on ported ROMs. No biggie ... until September rolls around and football kicks in.
Which range extender?

My limited understanding on range extenders is that they simply extend frequency bands. I use one with a yagi pointed to the tower so my phone works in my house.
I know where i live Verizon use the 800MHZ band. You may either need a dual band extender (800/1900) or figure out what band is being used in your location. The ROM seems to be irrelevant from the radio side as I am pretty sure that flashing a custom ROM will not effect the flashed radio.
On another note, "bars" is about the worst way to judge signal. Look at the signal strength in the about phone screen.
good luck.

Not True, Ic3 Rom can install and run verizon only apps.

From what explanation I was given the extender does operate on these frequencies but has to communicate with Verizon via Network connection. It has a GPS receiver for E911 and the voice/data bands are isolated to just my house it isn't "truly" taking what is broadcasted from the tower and amplifying it it is sudo VoIPing the calls. Crappy thing is it is limited to three calls and a dedicated 4th 911 line only.
It is a dual 800 (voice) 1900(data) extender. I totally agree with you that it isn't the ROM it is the radio that does all the work for connection. I guess the real question is when you have a ported ROM how does it show on the network? A Sprint phone roam hopping or a Verizon phone? In the management portal for the extender it can be set to either allow any verizon customer with in range access or to manage and give up to 50 Verizon numbers priority over any other Verizon phone access to use the extender.
I am just making sure I don't waste $200 and it is something stupid I am doing.

So I looked up the product I think you have and I fear you may be out of luck. You have a femtocell which is not a network extender in the true sense of the word but rather a mini cell tower which uses your internet connection to route calls via the Verizon network and broadcasts a cell signal for use in your home.
I hate to be “that guy” but you may be better off returning the femtocell if possible and buying a true extender. The range is more limited, probably 10 – 20 feet from the base station, but you will also be able to use it with any carrier on the same frequency and the ROM you run will be completely irrelevant. Dual band ones are more expensive but finding the band that is in use at your home is fairly easy with antenna search. A true repeater will also enable others to use their cell phone is your house as well as allow 3G traffic.
Be aware it requires running some wires and placing an antenna in a existing spot that gets signal, usually near a window or possibly in attic space or even mounted outside.
best of luck.
The Samsung Verizon authorized Network Extender. it is on their website Link: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/accessory?action=gotoFemtocell

Ok so no you can't add EPST.apk for the ## functions like the eris on a Ported Hero Rom. This was the issue because I couldn't *228 for an option 2 to change the PRL.
Well a combination of stupidity and not listening to the options to realize option 1 really doesn't change anything, and totally hosing up the method of nand backing up my wanted Rom and then wiping Fact Data and Dalvik then flashing an Eris Rom and updating the PRL and then wipeing dalvik and restoring the backup.
So thanks to all of you who gave advice and entertained my insaine problem I created.
If a Mod could Delete this so we can keep the forum clean that would be great.

Boot into Recovery. Make a NAND backup of your current ROM. Flash Ivan's Eris_Official (or ANY other Eris-based ROM).
Do your *228, (or use ##778) and update your PRL file.
Boot back into recovery and do a NAND restore of your Sprint-based ROM.
It'll work just fine. Any of your ROMs won't touch your PRL file or PST settings. I promise.
Thanks Pkopalek got it fixed just a combination of not reading and paying attention.

[Q] Custom Roms with WiFi Calling

Hey guys. So I've noticed that there don't seem to be any Roms available for tmo g2 that include WiFi calling. I really loved Cloudy's G3 rom; It looked absolutely beautiful. Thing is, It doesn't have WiFi calling and I can't go without it as there is no signal in my office. Is there a way to side load the feature after the rom is installed? Can devs possibly include this as an option in aroma? Any help would be great.

does stock rom have wifi calling? and isn;t it carrier specific ?
If it is in stock rom then there a very real chance it could get ported.

Yes, WiFi calling is a T-Mobile feature in most of their phones. I can make calls and send sms messages without any additional software or configuration as long as I am connected to wifi. It's a very nice feature and one I don't think would be hard to port. I know the CloudyG3 rom has T-Mobile option in Aroma so it could just be included in the system install for that option. I just don't really know what files are dependent on that part of the system. I'm sure a lot of T-Mobile G2 owners would love to flash some quality roms if they could keep their WiFi calling ability.
+1 Using G3 ROM for the looks and performance. But I need wifi calling. I dont use much but at times I need that feature.
Even Cloudy stock wont support it.
Energy Rom is the only custom Rom that supports it - it is based on stock jellybean though.

What custom rom has the best network connectivity?

Hi,
The network connectivity on stock rom is definitely very good, especially when you are moving from place to place(i.e not sitting at one place all the time which has decent connectivity). The data/voice connectivity, making best use of dual sim etc etc are very good. I guess Asus is sacrificing battery to achieve that(there is a relatively high standby drain on stock rom), but I think it is worth it. But, the custom roms I used so far did not appear to be on par with stock rom in this area(but the battery life is pretty good though).
So, any custom roms with good network connectivity? (preferably with dual 4g/volte), I prefer not to root and depend upon external kernels/modules though. I keep missing OTPs(or delayed OTPs), poor voice and data connectivity, WIFI voice calling is not that good either. I was hoping I don't have to switch back to stock rom.
Thanks in advance.

For pie I would suggest LOS 16 and for Q try PixelExperience rom.
These both are decent and stable roms with no bugs and stock experience. Minimal roms with no customisation.

Thank you. Tried Los 16(official), did not appear to have good connectivity(I think it is still in initial phase, might get better with time, I'll give it a try again). I have yet to try PixelExperience Q.
I just realized that there is this rom called - stockrom mod. I believe it is developed on top of stock rom, not sure, but I'll give it a try.

Yeah, that's the stock rom with some tweaks. You might find it usefull.
I have not noticed any significant difference in network connectivity and speed. The signal bar in Los pie may may give you a false impression of low signal strength. If you check under sim status its pretty much same with all. And yes i am saying this after using stock rom, Los pie abd pixel experience Q.
Okay, the problem appears to be in stock rom too (I think it is pie only, i think it was fine in oreo), you can find several posts in zentalk forums too complaining same apparently, asus doesn't give a damn. I confirmed there is something wrong with either device (hardware) or software (All pie roms), by switching sim cards to different phones. They all showed no problems.
There is a remedy for this - lock the lte bands., it works!!, at least for most of the cases, i myself saw the effect immediately. I use dual Sim (airtel and jio).
But you need to root the device. Root your device snd install network signal guru. Click "lock bands" from settings, click lte, you'll see bunch of bands - B1, B3, B5.... Find the bands your data sim runs on (you can use this link - https://www.datareign.com/4g-circles-in-india.html/amp), by trial and error find the bands which give you better speed/reliability.
I use below configuration for good data reliability (to play pubg) and moderate speed on data sim(jio) , without having to loose call connectivity on airtel sim (I use it for calls and secondary data)
B5(jio), B1, B8(airtel)
I am not exactly on reasoning behind this, but I just tried not use bands which are common for both Sims, i think that is why i kept loosing call connectivity on airtel sim. A common band might have given good data on one sim but ended up giving bad call connectivity on the other, and vice versa.
