Please save my phone (ls997) always Fastboot mode - LG V20 Questions & Answers

My phone always goes into fastboot mode. I use "Lgup" to do 996kdz and erase but no effect (there is a phenomenon, when 80% will restart, then enter FastBoot mode). So I used the "Lgflashtool" to do 996tot but it would be error at 6%(download Fail!! →Check DL Validation→00000064→Error ), so it's still useless. Every time I turn on my cell phone or link my computer, my phone goes into fastboot mode. There will also be a red word meaning: "Check unlock OEM in Developer mode".
Now the situation is:
can enter "FastBoot mode"
Can enter "Download mode"
BL is locked.
Can Not enter Android system
The model is ls997 but uses the Us996kdz (before the other ROM is so normal to use, but suddenly can not use the mobile network, and then I made a mistake ... )
sorry I can't seem to upload the picture URL. have any questions please contact me, thank everyone.

You should have asked for help before trying to fix it yourself.
What version of the US996 firmware were you running?

So you use LG UP to flash the KDZ (don't use LGFlashTool anymore), and the flash completes successfully?
Also, you need to provide some more background on how you got into this situation -- what were you doing to your phone?

I want to use China Unicom Internet, but ls997 doesn't seem to be able to, first unlock BL, and then use other ROM. When I unlock the BL at the document in the link below (a TRF file), when the fourth step is over, my cell phone stops at the boot interface (a LG logo is spinning) for about 3 minutes. So I took the battery, but it also stopped on the boot screen after reboot. Silly, I used LGUP do 996kdz, and then it's what it is.

Well, you are lucky that LG used the same RSA cert. The US996 firmware doesn't work with the LS997, but at least you didn't brick your phone completely. Unfortunately, because some of the firmware is failing to load, you are being dumped into fastboot. Since you flashed the KDZ, that wiped out TWRP. Since you completed step4, you could have easily fixed your phone before flashing the KDZ. Now you are going to have to find a KDZ that is a little closer to the hardware of the LS997. Try the H915 KDZ. Make sure you download v10e. Anything newer will increment ARB and you can't get the proper firmware back on your phone. Here is the link to the KDZ.
When you flash that, your phone still won't work, but HOPEFULLY it will at least boot so you can root it again. Once it is rooted, you are going to need to find someone with an LS997 that is willing to do a complete dump of their firmware.

I suddenly think of a question, if the phone is different from KDZ, probably can not use LGUP flash it...

There is a patched LG UP that lets you cross flash. How did you flash US996 firmware?

? Sorry, I don't understand. Do you mean to let me use h91510e_00_vtr_ca_op_1205 kdz through Lgup? When I use Lgup to Flash, Lgup will tell me:"Error:KDZ file is invalid US996 → H915"
I will go to the repair shop to understand the situation (I think the maintenance will be very expensive, so I will come back), please wait for me, thank you

The clerk told me I needed to repair FLASH MEMORY, and that the maintenance required 1/3 cell phone prices, and I gave up.
Whatever it is, please let me know as soon as you can, because I will try (because it won't get worse)

Did you try flashing the H915 firmware? Since there is no KDZ for the LS997, you are going to have to try flashing firmware till you find one that will boot.
The US996, VS995, H915, H990 all have the same RSA cert and have KDZs (H910 and LS997 use the same key as well, but as you know, there is no LS997 KDZ), so while your phone might not work, you can try again. So, pick one, flash, and see what happens. With any luck you will find one that is close enough hardware wise that it will boot and you can root it.
Make sure that you flash a version that is old enough to still be exploitable. If it isn't exploitable, AND it increments ARB, you will be stuck with whatever you flash.

There's been some other LS997 users who claim that after flashing the US996 kdz, their phone works fine, except for cell service.
Do you know where I could find the modified LGUP which lets you flash individual partitions, and lets you flash other model KDZs?

no in short
no no no in long lol, bootloader will turn lgup away showing its not correct device.
i would be very shocked if it worked and also booted after. Too much in the bootloader is protected and lg up dosn't replace the bootloader, just everything after it

Hi I tried to root my Lg F800s and install WETA rom (H918 version) now my phone does not boot and I can only access download mode. LGUP reads it as H918 , is there anyway to install modified kdz or using flashtool.

Problems Restoring to Stock

Hi All. Looking for some assistance getting back to a stock state here, and it would seem at this point that doing it via the KDZ/TOT method are my only options.
Every time the phone boots, it just goes straight to Download Mode, and it doesn't seem that I can access TWRP anymore.
I've followed through the instructions on a couple of the most popular threads, and encounter the following issues:
When attempting to flash a H918 10j KDZ - Can't get past 4% as LGUP states that my device is a Pixel XL, and the KDZ isn't meant for my device.
When attempting to flash an extracted DZ from the above, I get to 12% before LGUP throws an error stating 0x2BC.
Can anyone offer any advice? Or am I completely hosed?

If it says Firmware Update, then you are in download mode. If you have pretty much anything other than an AT&T, or Sprint model, you should be able to get a KDZ or use LG Bridge. If there is no KDZ for your phone, then it is a brick.

It is the sprint ls997 variant so no .kdz file as of currently. ADB is not connecting, but i can get LGUP with uppercut to recognize the device in download mode. I don't believe the boot loader is unlocked, but is there anyway i could use LGUP to push a .kdz file for a different variant (I tried the Verizon variant and it failed because it recognized i was trying the wrong variant) which would allow me to boot into a OS and turn on debugging and from there use Dirty Santa? Basically is there anyway to let LGUP push the wrong .kdz variant?
Have you tried the LG Flash tool? I know there are some patches that will allow it to flash without checking the model. Since you have a brick already, you have nothing to lose. If it were me, I would try every V20 KDZ that is out there in the hopes that one of them would boot. If you can get it to boot, then you can use dirty santa, and you will have a working phone again. On the plus side -- you got a great deal for $150.00. You can always hop on Ebay and find a system board to swap in.

Do you mean this? My LGUP never worked even before brick, so I already had to use this patched exe and dll file to even roll back to older firmware for dirty santa root in the first place.
Now after running step3.bat and flashing saved aboot img, the phone is locked out if recovery and download mode shows 633A B50 and patched LGUP / DLL no longer recognise device. Uppercut also doesn't recognise device. LG Flash 2014 also failed so did LG Bridge

unknown model in lgup.

Actual model is ls997 but i flashed vs995 kdz with ls997 modem everything worked fine.Just very crappy battery life so i decided to flash a us996 rom. but it was not just a rom but the full us996 kdz twrp flashable without the recovery.I figured this as i was flashing in twrp it showed flashing laf and all other partitions. So now it doesn't even boot to any recovery or boot at all.but i still have unlocked bootloader and can get into download mode.Though lgup keeps saying "unknown model, US996".Im sure i can just flash vs995 kdz again since there is no ls997 kdz but lgup wont let me in lol.is there any way to bypass this unknown model pop up? or can i use flash tool or something.

thanks for the reply Brian.
i thought i have the patched one, i downloaded it from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-patch-lgup-to-unlock-features-t3652222
but i wont even open because it says "you have to select a known model, please" " when i select unknown model,US996COM41" and if i try without any phone connected, it asks to select a model. So it does detect it just not correctly. Is there a way to patch it to bypass model selection?
I think the lg flash tool i have (1.8.x.x) is out of date for v20 that's why it may be failing download once it reaches "preareafterdload Download".Though the other version 2.0.1.6 or something fails to load at all.correct me if im wrong.

If you have the correct version of TWRP, rename it to "twrp.exe". From a powered off phone hold volume DOWN and plug-in USB cable. Issue the following command from a prompt in the same folder that contains TWRP:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Reboot to recovery (Vol down, hold and release power), choose "yes" twice and wait a few seconds for a reboot into TWRP.

not much actual help, but fastboot boot doesn't work on ANY v20 models. you have to actually flash it and THEN boot into it.

Can't find kdz file for LGH918 (T-Mobile LG V20)

I'm trying to find the latest kdz file for the H918 (T-Mobile LG V20). After looking at several guides, I still can't track it down.
This guide gives a link where you can supposedly download the firmware, but all I can find by following that guide is the Android source code, not a .kdz file.
This guide gives a url you can visit (on a non-standard port), and you have to put your phone's IMEI number in the URL parameters. This url will return an xml file that contains another url where you can download the kdz for your specific phone. However, when I followed this guide, the xml file returned a successful response but the sw_url field was empty (along with most other fields).
Other guides have said to go to https://lg-firmwares.com/category/lg-series/lg-v20/ but I am getting a 500 server error on that page. Maybe it's just down today, but seems kind of odd that I can't access it. When I try to find LGH918 by visiting the main domain name (lg-firmwares.com) and navigating from there, I can't seem to find anything.
The closest I have come so far is this download page, but it is for the LGH918TN (instead of LGH918). Is that "close enough" or is it going to brick my phone?
UPDATE: I think I did find the correct kdz file since I started writing this post, but I am going to post this information anyway, for anybody else having the same issue. I went to lg-firmwares.com and clicked "Check IMEI" and entered my phone's IMEI number. It directed me to a download page for LGH918TN, so it looks like that is correct for my phone! I will try and remember to report back here on whether the kdz file actually worked or not. Hoping it doesn't brick my phone, yet again.
As an update to my original post, I did manage to successfully flash the kdz file using the "Upgrade" option in LGUP, and did not lose any of my data. However, I'm still getting the unlocked bootloader message when I start my phone ("Your device cannot be checked for corruption..."). Does anybody know if flashing the .kdz file causes TWRP to be replaced with the original recovery mode? I don't want to try to boot into TWRP in case it has been replaced, thus triggering a factory reset and losing all my data.
It ok to try and relock the bootloader now? (if so, how?) Or do I need to replace TWRP too?

You need to use LG Bridge to restore to stock. That will replace TWRP. Then you need to fastboot OEM lock.
If you don't want root and want to relock the bootloader to stop seeing that screen, you will lose data.
