Update Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 P900 to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop
(Not Tripping Knox)
Make sure you downloaded and installed the Samsung usb drivers beforehand (http://www.android.gs/download-samsung-usb-drivers-for-android/)
Download the firmware and extract it. ( http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-P900 or https://www.samdownloads.de/downloads/sm-p900/) (For USA users with tripped knox (no OTA update) just odin the "cellular south" SM-p900 5.0.2 sammobile rom.)
Download ODIN v3.09 (http://androidhost.org/PVAIv)
Reboot your phone into download mode. Do this by first switching off the phone, then pressing and holding the volume down + home button together and then pressing the power button. Press power again to enter download mode. (If you have problems go to the Troubleshoot section)
Open ODIN on your computer. You’ll see the ID:COM box turning yellow with a COM port number upon successful connection with the phone.
In ODIN click the AP button, select the extracted firmare file from step 2. It's a tar.md5 file
Make sure Auto Reboot & F. Reset Time options are selected in ODIN
Click on the start button. When the process is completed your phone will reboot. To confirm update Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 P900 to Android 5.0.2 official firmware simply check the settings > about.
How To Install TWRP + ROOT On Lollipop
(Tripping Knox)
Due To different bootloaders On Lollipop, installing TWRP is slightly different:
Download the twrp.tar (https://dl.twrp.me/v1awifi/twrp-2.8.7.0-v1awifi.img.tar.html) on your pc and supersu.zip (http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu) on your device. Also, download odin on your pc
Open odin on your pc.
Put device into download mode by turning off the tablet first. Then hold power, home, volume down button all at the same time till download mode comes up.
Hit volume up to continue
Connect tablet to pc.
Hit the ap or AP button in odin.
Select the twrp recovery tar.
Untick auto reboot in odin
Hit start and let it flash all the way
Now force reboot by holding power, home, volume up buttons at the same time till it reboots.
Hit install button in twrp.
Select the supersu zip you downloaded
Swipe to install and reboot.
Troubleshooting:
Q: Can't boot into TWRP
A: In ODIN, uncheck automatic reboot then flash TWRP. So you have enough time to get ready to reboot into TWRP directly after ODIN finishes.
After TWRP is flashed, press power+vol.up buttons and hold them until the Samsung Logo appears then release them.
You should then automatically go into TWRP. Once into TWRP, you can install the root.zip file.
Q: Lollipop is unstable, I get force closes or the whole ROM is just bull****!
A: Go to Recovery Mode by pressing and holding the Volume Up+Power buttons together.
Now, perform Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache Partition task before selecting the reboot system now option. In Recovery Mode use the Volume keys to navigate between options and Power key to select any option.
Q: Can't go into Download Mode
A: Actually on most devices, if you really press the three buttons constantly, it will reboot forever and not go into the download mode. It's better if you turn off your device completely, then press home, volume down. Keep them pressed. Now press the power button too. You're holding down all tree buttons now. The device boots about a second after you see the boot-logo, stop pressing the power button, but keep holding home and volume down. If it's not working try releasing the powerbutton earlier, or later than advised. But keep Home and Volume Down pressed constantly.
Q: Can't flash TWRP, it keeps booting into stock recovery!
A: Disable the Autoreboot option in ODIN
any impact on Knox?

Nice guide btw and hope we can see deodex guide soon [emoji106]
Thank you for this.
I used to really get into this stuff when I had my OG Droid but these days I can't devote the time to it like that. This guide was clear and worked exactly like it said it would.
Great thread - very helpful - I did have issues when flashing twrp - learned a lesson - make sure you read the whole thread. I didn't at first - I figured I had flashed TWRP so many times I knew what to do - but it didn't work - each time ODIN auto rebooted and I tried to go to recovery - it was back on stock recovery.
THEN I read the whole thread - and did what you said - uncheck Auto Reboot - and do the three finger reboot to recovery - home, power volume up - and viola' it worked just as advertised. Thanks for the guide - very useful!
EDIT - I am having issues and not sure what to do - when I attempt to make a nandroid in TWRP - before flashing a new rom - the backup ran for over 10 minutes and would not finish. its like it is hung up on the last step of the backup or somehting - looks like it is still backing up - but it never changes, Any suggestions?
EDIT 2- I was able to create a backup on internal SD Card - but all attempts to back up to EXT SD Card failed - has this happend to anyone else?
piece o cake. easier than juggling cfautoroot. Thanks dude.
P.S. For USA users with tripped knox (no OTA update) just odin the "cellular south" SM-p900 5.0.2 sammobile rom.
Im not sure where I keep going wrong. Im trying to get into download mode. If I hold the power, volume down, and home button the tablet constantly reboots.
If I release the home button after a few seconds I wind up in download mode.
What am I doing wrong?
Billinaz, try powering down completely first. Then while it's off press all 3 buttons.

Sounds like you can Flash and root without tripping the Knox Counter ... Why I never heard before about "Mobile ODIN" that do the same?

what kind of Region i need to download if my is not in the list?
im from israel, my current Version is P900ZSUANH2, what region i need to download for upgrade to lolipop? is there a difference?
Is it possible to just update to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and not do the other part? (Rooting and such)
Also, is it possible to change the language when updated or will I be stuck with the language of the version I use to update with?

Yes it is! I just updated my stock 4.4.2 (Netherlands) to 5.0.2 using the Korean (BOG) version. Installed it with Odin and about 30 minutes later all apps were updated and my P900 is now a much improved one!
I was reluctant to do this as I feared Iwould lose my data and had to start from scratch, but as a very pleasant surprise all is preserved and all apps are working fine!
And it is really worth doing the upgrade, it is much smoother and access to SD is finally usable.
About language you can choose this again when 5.0.2 boots, the list was extensive, I saw Dutch was there too, but I stuck to English...
So I'm happy with 5.0.2, not rooted and fully stock, and typing this on my Logitech bluetooth keyboard!

Nope!
I don't usually comment here but I had to say thank you so much for this! Whole thing went smoothly and the tablet feels a lot snappier and less laggy now, which is a nice change (although it might just be a placebo).
I installed the Korean BOG version as well on my Australian tablet. It was the only one that would flash out of the 5.0.2's on Sammobile, the rest failed every time. I use a bluetooth keyboard and it still works - its a chinese cheap thing, works great. I had to do a factory reset to get everything running smooth again. There is English in the language options, but only UK English, which is ok for Australia. I do want to root though but one of the ways that wont trip knox. Previously I used kingroot, but it hasn't got a solution this time.
I tried to root my phone S7 Edge 6.1.1 just a moment ago using ODIN and CF Auto Root. I got the PASSES! sign in ODIN but upon phone rebooting I am stuck on the Samsung S7 Edge logo screen with text in red 'Recovery Is Not Seandroid Enforcing" up the top.
At this time I am unable to turn my phone off, when I do it just turns back on and goes to the same screen. I can't get into download or recovery mode either.
Any help on how to fix would by greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Also thought I should add, my phone doesn't get registered when I connect it to my PC either, it wont show up in ODIN so I am unable to flash a stock recovery at this time.
It's trying to boot into recovery.
When you say you rooted with CF Auto Root, what did you do precisely? And did you follow Chainfire's specific instructions regarding the lack of screen output during the process?

Thanks for the reply.
I used CF-Auto-Root-zerolte-zeroltexx-smg925f.tar to root.
The steps I used was to simply put my phone into download mode and use ODIN to flash the file mentioned above. That is as far as I got unfortunately. I did this once before, a few month back when I first got the phone with no issues. I remember having to install TWRP but I couldn't remember if I did that pre-root or post-root. But I think that is where I went wrong.
Now I am unable to do anything with my phone. I can't turn it off, get into download or recovery mode. When I hold down VOL UP+POWER+HOME it just resets the phone back to the samsung logo screen.
Any ideas on what I could do?
You used the CF Auto Root file for an S6 Edge.

OH GOD. You're right. I just realized that. I was supposed to have them saved into their own folders but I guess I saved that one too the wrong folder.
So what does that mean for the life of my phone then? Is it toast or is it recoverable somehow?
What is your model? Is it the SM-G935F? If so, first things first, download the correct CF Auto Root file for your device (here) and try again. Press VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME and it should reboot into Download Mode. Then try to flash the correct file in Odin again.
These phones are very difficult to hard brick, especially with something like CF Auto Root so you should be ok.

Yes, it is a SM-G935F. Unfortunately I am unable to reboot the phone into Download Mode. When pressing VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME it just takes me straight back to the Samsung logo where it says "Recovery Is Not Seandroid Enforcing". I'm hoping that once the battery drains completely I will be able to boot into Download Mode again.
Try simply resetting it instead. Press volume down and the power key (don't press home) for around 7-10 seconds. Once it starts to reset, remove your fingers from the buttons very briefly then press volume down, home and power to enter download mode.

That hasn't worked either unfortunately.
I just found this thread from a guy having a similar problem. He just had to wait for his phone's battery to drain completely and then he was able to enter download mode again.
You shouldn't have to though. If you can get the phone to reset at all (even if it's to make another attempt to go into recovery) then providing you time it right, you should be able to get into download mode. Did keeping your fingers on just the volume down and power buttons do anything? Keep them on continuously for up to 20 seconds and see what happens. Did you say pressing vol up & home & power made it reset and try to again get into recovery? What happens if, as soon as the screen indicated it's resetting, you remove your fingers and quickly press vol down & home & power instead?
Anyway, even if you have to wait until the phone dies, getting into download will be possible eventually. Then worst case scenario would be you having to reflash stock back. Or, as would be my preference, flash TWRP then flash a custom rom zip like Superman.
Just to confirm, I take it you selected OEM Unlock in dev options?

I have never had any trouble getting into recovery or download before so I know the method. But just the properly clarify for you I will explain some of the combination I have tried without success. Bare in mind the phone is constantly turned on and idles on the Samsung logo.
I have tried:
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME, the phone resets and goes back to the logo.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER, same as above.
Hold VOL UP+POWER+HOME, nothing happens at all.
Hold VOL UP+POWER, same as above.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME, release and repress all on black screen, just goes back to logo.
Hold VOL DOWN+POWER, release and hold VOL DOWN+POWER+HOME on black screen, just goes back to logo.
and numerous other things like random combination to try and enter Download or Recovery mode, which have all failed.
Right now it's just stuck on the Samsung logo and staying there, taking forever to drain battery. I work in the morning so hopefully it is dead by then and I can get into Download mode.
Have already started download stock firmware in hopes that I will be able to flash it after.
Thanks a bunch for your help. If you think of anything else I might be able to try let me know!
Oh wow. 100+ attempts and I followed your last post about holding for up to 20 seconds. I was waiting ~5 seconds and releasing thinking that it hadn't worked.
Finally go into Download mode and will flash stock firmware and let you know how I go.
Thanks again! I owe you a cold one.
EDIT: Was no need to flash stock firmware. Just flashed the proper version of CF Auto Root and it worked. Again, thank you so much!
Fantastic. Hope you get it sorted.
On a side note, you have probably already tripped knox and you will have lost you OS data and possibly even what you have stored on internal storage. If so, I suggest you install TWRP, format data (you will lose everything with this but it removed encryption) and install a custom rom like Superman 1.9 from your external SD. It's better than plain stock and comes pre-rooted with plenty of other mods.

I've flashed the stock Fw G935FXXU1APD1_G935FDRE1APC3_DRE but I still have the message "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" after trying to root with CF auto root.

Simply hold down Home + Power + Volume Down for 10-15 seconds - don't release when the phone initially reboots and gives the same error, keep them held down and download mode will appear. I have to hold for 11 seconds, a strangely unrounded number.
Hello Guys I have this Same issue Yesterday....... This happens when you flash outdated CF Autoroot. CF Autoroot Updated on 25/08/2016... Download it...
Fix for Stuck in Logo Screen
Just Click and Hold ...... Vol Down + Menu + Power Keys ...... DO NOT RELEASE. IT Will Restart. DONT release. It will restart again and you will be download mode.
i found this during the rooting process. its a bit different to older samsungs on the s7 / s7edge. YOU HAVE TO KEEP HOLD OF VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER until it enters download mode, which can be 20-25 seconds

you need to reinstall the samsung drivers on your computer then plug in your phone, open smart switch and follow instructions.
Previously your phone installed the drivers, since you have a problem with your phone, you need to install the driver on your computer to recognize the phone not the other way around.

I have actually encountered this before.
Just do this:
• Hold Power & Volume Down until the phone turns off ( assuming that there is no way for you to battery pull )
• Immediately without letting go of the Power & Volume Down button, press the home button as well.
• If the timing is not correct just retry.
Once you can get into download mode, you don't need the samsung software anymore. Just go online and find your default stock rom & bootloader etc and flash em'

This worked for me on a SM-T510 (2019) tablet.
Hello,
My brother has the Galaxy S7 SM-G930P. I tried installing the firmware (before you ask, yes, I did download the right firmware) from Sammobile to upgrade my brother's phone to Nougat, but after Odin failed to flash, my phone no longer boots into the OS and just gets stuck on the flashing Samsung logo endlessly.
When trying to boot into recovery (I followed this:
Turn off the phone.
Press and then hold the Home and Volume UP keys, then press and hold the Power key.
When the Samsung Galaxy S7 shows on the screen, release the Power key but continue holding the Home and Volume Up keys.
When the Android logo shows, you may release both keys and leave the phone be for about 30 to 60 seconds.
Using the Volume Down key, navigate through the options and highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
Once highlighted, you may press the Power key to select it.
Now highlight the option ‘Yes’ using the Volume Down key and press the Power button to select it.
Wait until your phone is finished wiping the cache partition. Once completed, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and press the Power key.
The phone will now reboot longer than usual.), it keeps doing the same thing. If I release the buttons, it gets stuck on the looping Samsung logo. If I continue holding them, it will keep saying that it is "Recovery Booting...".
I am at a loss on what to do. Any help is appreciated!
Are you flashing using any checkbox options in Odin? What version? Also was your correct firmware single flash file or 4_File?
Sent from my SM-G928T using Tapatalk
Did you every get resolution? I tried to use the princecomsy version of odin to flash both this file and this file but I am getting the boot loop. Double checked the md5 and they downloaded good.
I can boot into download and I can boot into the stock recovery. I have wiped cache and data multiple times. Pretty sure I disabled everything with the BK disabler app and the phone was working fine after using that app to freeze a ton of packages. I have rooted multiple devices but this is the first time I have ran into issues. I don't care about knox or anything samsung, just want as close to vanilla android as I can get...but need root first .
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!!

Hi,
I have a new a20e (a202f) out of the box.
I followed another guide to root and install twrp which turns out was wrong. I unlocked the bootloader just fine.
I have no backup, no personal boot.img or anything.
Essentially I am stuck in download mode and restarting takes me straight back to download mode.
Recovery: Error validating footer.

Cheers guys
What guide did you follow? You have to download your stock fw from sites like sammobile then from there you can have the boot.img and etc. Have you tried flashing stock fw using odin?
Note: Usually you flash vbmeta for footer error when you flash twrp.

It was a guide on 'unofficialtwrp.com' - I can't link things here yet.
I have since tar'ed an unpatched twrp (TWRP-3.3.1.0_A20_by_Agrim720.img) + vbmeta.img + boot.img (from https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a20/help/boo-img-a205fxxu2asfb-t4008739), then I flashed through AP on Odin and now I think it boots past the download mode but instead it now has fuzzy dark red screen with nothing legible.
Oh bugger, I've been a class A plum.
Can I get out of this horrible mess?

Well you have to use your own boot.img from your fw, not all of use the same fw that's why, some are still on u2, u3 and u4. Maybe the boot.img you got isnt the same as your fw.
Well you can start from scratch and reflash your stock fw in odin.

Try holding volume - and power and your phone will turn off, as soon as it turns off press volume + & - and plug your usb cable that is connected to a computer.
No luck with that. It displays the message about running custom os etc and to press power to continue. So I press it and it boots to the messed up red/pink/black display.

Do you mean like the one attached? If yes you havent booted to download mode.
Try booting to recovery by holding volume + and power while you turn on the phone.
There is a option there to boot to download mode.

Yes that screen. I've tried your suggestion with volume + but that also ends up with messed up screen
Yes so currently I'm unable to get to recovery (not sure it even flashed properly), unable to get to download mode, or to get the device recognised in odin.
I'm unable to power off. The screen is blank and when I press power it flickers shortly with some black/white/red pink colours around the edges, but the screen quickly turns blank.
From this position I can only restart by holding volume - and power.
This boots to the samsung logo and then the 'bootloader unlocked' warning. No amount of button configs have proved successful so far, and then I end up back at the blank screen.
I'm happy to start from scratch. I have downloaded the stock firmware but I'm simply unable to proceed.
Aslo the device is not recognised in windows at any point.
Thanks guys

Are you sure you pressed and hold volume +&- and plugging cable before the samsung logo pops up? You have to do it quickly right after the device turns off. You shoudn't see the bootloader warning if you done this quickly and correctly.

Hello -
Please trust me when I tell you that it can be fixed. I had the EXACT same problem and drove me crazy for 24 hours. You can deffinetly fix your phone once you get to download mode.
I had the same issue where I could not turn the phone OFF it just looped back and I pushed buttons for hours to no avail... Then some one told me it WILL WORK, it is just the timing of
the button pushing, AND the USB cable plug in. Sure enough he was right. It took me alot of tries and I even took my phone apart and un plugged the battery so I could controll the power
ON / OFF better and time the button's easier. Here is what I did ...
unplug battery so phone was 100% OFF.
Plug in battery ( phone is still OFF )
Hold Vol - then Hold Power and Vol -
As soon as the power started IMEDITALY PLUG IN USB ( have USB READY to be plugged in FAST )
DONT let go of buttons ... screen will flash quickly and then Imediatly let go of power keep holding Vol -
IF you timed this right, IT WILL proced to download mode. If not, then start over again from power OFF ( step 01 )
It took me 3 tries to get it ( after 50+ tries before ) lol
Now I am not sure about the battery unplugging ... maybe you dont need to, but it mad it work for me as I could control the power ON part of this now.
Getting to your battery is not very hard and there is a you tube video on how to do it... if you need help just PM ME.
Good luck friend.
When this happened to me all I did was hold volume up and volume down. Kept cord connected to computer. Connected to device during the bootloop and boom within seconds I was in download mode. It catches it once screen goes off in between the bootloop.

Thanks you guys. In the end the battery died and then I could power up whilst holding vol+, straight to recovery and then I could flash stock rom.
Much appreciation for your help guys, it got me out of a pinch - it is my mother-in-law's new phone!

Hi,
I have a new a20e (a202f) out of the box.
I followed another guide to root and install twrp which turns out was wrong. I unlocked the bootloader just fine.
I have no backup, no personal boot.img or anything.
Essentially I am stuck in download mode and restarting takes me straight back to download mode.
Recovery: Error validating footer.
SW REV. CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER) DEVICE"
Cheers guys
