Is there Any option to kill the app with long press back button (In Stock ROM) just like we used in custom ROMs.
I also would love to have this.

Ya, I was using this feature for a long time and now I switched to OnePlus 5 and didn't found the option in Stock ROM. If anyone using this feature plz share a tweak or app or method to use this feature.
There is no need to force close an app unless it misbehaves. Android does a great job in memory management.
Xposed. Just know that safety net will never work again.

There's an app called 'buttons mapper' on play store.
For kill action you need root.
And for up to two mapping it's free.

There are apps one needs but they do stuff in background you don't want. For that kill action could come handy.
Like parking apps, that once running track your movements. And upload location on data.

Killing an app with that method doesn't stop background processes.
any other method without root? with shizuku etc maybe?
Go to settings-devolper option-apps
Don't keep activities- on
Background process limit- no background processes
it will kill everything? let's say and the email client i have downloaded from the Play store?
Or if it is not "optimized from the battery menu" it will still run in background even if i check the emails and leave the app?

It ll stop all background running + cached process ( check in background services developer option)
sorry because i am asking again..
even if they are protected somehow by an Option in android ?
it would be very helpful to use this app without having to force kill every time even if you have the option to force it by long pressing the back button.
Key Mapper
from F-Droid can do this, of you mean hardware buttons. Here's the description from the store:
Key Mapper | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Unleash your keys! Open source!

What can be remapped?
* Fingerprint gestures on supported devices.
* Volume buttons.
* Navigation buttons.
* Bluetooth/wired keyboards.
* Buttons on other connected devices should also work.
ONLY HARDWARE buttons can be remapped.
There is NO GUARANTEE any of these buttons will work and this app is NOT designed to control games. Your device's OEM/vendor can prevent them from being remapped.
thank you . i will look for that.
also i am looking with Tsker or Macrodroid, espesially if they support Ladb or Shizuku

As i wrote metro apps doesn't recognize my A4Tech webcam
None of them not work.Skype and Default Camera apps
I searched much on google,But not found solution
Can anyone help ?
Anyone ?
Check in devices Open Explorer, paste this to address bar):
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers
If it's there but shown as not working, download driver from manufacturer and install it.
If it's not there, make sure the webcam works at all, and then make sure you've got the driver.
If it's there and works in desktop apps, then make sure you didn't do something silly like tell Metro apps they aren't allowed to use it. In a Metro app, hit Win+i (or otherwise bring up the Settings charm), select Permissions, and make sure the app is allowed to use "Webcam and microphone".
Camera is working for desktop apps, only problem it's not working with metro apps like skype
BTW i can't find where to select permissions ?

The point is that I quoted directly from my previous post... if you waste people's time asking them to repeat themselves in a freaking *written forum* they will extract some amusement out of the situation, probably at your expense.
I was removing some bloat after rooting, and everything I removed seems fine except one thing. Whenever I get an email, and pull down the notification bar and click on it directly, my email app force closes(using stock google app). If I go to the email app itself and then view the email, it's fine. Does anyone have any idea what the apk I removed that could have caused this, and if so does anyone have a backup they can upload, thanks!!

I downloaded the magazineapp, that didn't seem to fix it, I think I'll just re install the original EMAIL client APK, does anyone out there have that or a link to it?
This is driving me crazy, text message notifications don't seem to bother it, and I can set my emails to not notify in the notifaction bar and then they work perfectly when I go to open them. But if I set them to show in notification bar(which i need for my work exchange server) it says sorry, email has closed. Even if I don't pull look at the notification, and go directly to the email, it closes on the first try, the second time is fine

After getting FC with Exchange account after freezing a variety of apps in TiBu (generally the same ones frozen on my VZW S4), I've had to go back to defrosting everything, and only "Turn off" via application manger. I could never quite figure out which one(s) were causing it, but Exchange wanted the magazine app, Ant, and other what would seem entirely unrelated apps to be enabled. As much as I hate crap running that I neither use or want, the Note 3 has so much RAM and horsepower that it really doesn't seem to matter.

NEEDS TASKER & (ROOT desired but not necessary)
I don't like Google Now most of the time.
I prefer the likes of Utter!, Eva, AutoVoice and Tasker
which uses offline voice recognition for messages, emails, memos, reminders & events
This saves battery and is usually faster.
I can now go to my desired application from saying "OK Google, Hello" with my Moto X
on standby with or without a data connection......no Google now needed!
I can then run an offline voice rec program such as a Tasker action, Autovoice, Utter or Eva.
In Tasker 2 easy profiles to enter,
For when mobile data on
(profile) event/variable set: variable %WIN value *voice*
(action)
System Volume 0
Kill App: App Voice Search / Use Root : on
System Volume 7
Load App "your app"
Task: Stop
For mobile data off - saves battery (most used as no root needed)
(profile) event/variable set: variable %WIN Value *sorry*
Net / Mobile data: on
Load App "your app"
Task: Stop
Say "OK Google, Hello" to your phone for fastest results
I'm no techie but if this can be improved let me know

My need to use voice recognition offline because much of the time I am out where there is no reception. I am brand new at tasker so I have a couple of questions about the above profiles.
- My Moto X is not rooted. Does the line < Kill App: App Voice Search / Use Root : on > require root? (It looks like it to a newbie)
- Does the line < Net / Mobile data: on > turn mobile data on? If so, wouldn't that mean that in fact I need reception and data plan?
Thanks to anyone who sees this and can advise me.
Sorry, I don't know much about this but I'm also trying to figure it out. There must be quite a few users out there interested in this. What's annoying is that Google supports offline voice dictation since jelly bean. One would have hoped local commands would work without data (like setting an alarm our composing a message).
I don't seem to follow the instructions above. I don't have tasker but I use llama a lot. I would get tasker if it means I can do this.
What's the significance of the variable?

OK figured this out. It's using tasker to look for the "Sorry we seem to be having data issues" error message during a no-data state.
Then tasker can kick off the offline voice app.
I've got it working and it works with utter OK - you will want to launch the utter shortcut to start listening immediately, so you may need the Autoshortcut plugin.
I think the enable data thing "Net / Mobile data: on" should be off..
In other words:
(profile) event/variable set: variable %WIN Value *sorry*
and Net / Mobile data: off
(action)
Load App "your app"
Task: Stop
I'm not sure why you need the task:stop, but it works with or without.
The accessibility thing is key, because it allows tasker to read the screen contents.
I think this came from this thread on google: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/tasker/tq6dTBhf2g4/sldxn9f0QYQJ

Where are you selecting "Net/Mobile data: off"? Is it a second profile? I can't seem to find that option. Also when you mean load app "your app"...does that mean the voice app? I use Aoutovoice for all my voice control stuff. I have everything running great with Tasker, autovoice, and google now api...but really want the offline touchless.
Thanks
This is where I find taskers ui a bit confusing. You want to set two conditions for the profile.
One is the sorry message, the other is the state that you have no data. To do this long press on the profile condition you have (i assume it's the win variable one) then add another condition.
Yes "your app" is whatever offline app you use. I use utter now, but auto voice should work too, just fire the recognize command?
You mention you have auto voice working with the Google now api, does that mean you're rooted using the xposed framework module?
Keep in mind that overall, this approach is a clever hack. I'm not sure what the implications are of having Tasker setup as an accessibility service, but that's the price one must pay.

I know to long press and add, but I'm not finding where the no data state is. I found mobile networks, but it only has 5 boxes with 2g,3g,3g-HSPA,4g, and invert. Would it be check all?
Yes, I'm rooted running xposed framework. With the google now api, I can use any command I have setup, with the screen of by saying "OK GOOGLE,...".
Thanks

---------- Post added at 02:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:28 PM ----------
I got it! Check all and invert will make it data off. You do have to say something right after "OK GOOGLE" for it to try and then it opens the Autovoice voice search box.

Solve this - shut down tasker and all processes, and restart. ~15meg usage.
This sounds great and all because I like using Utter. But how do we know if Utter is using the low power X8 speech recognition core or the S4 cores? Is there any way to keep a log of that info?

The touchless control is what opens google now. The googlenow api then takes over if its linked with autovoice/tasker. So, it's not actually running until touchless control activates it.
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
So you're saying the Google Now api knows to use the low power CPU core?
Sent from my XT1053 using Tapatalk
No, the touchless control app uses the low power processor. When touchless control activates Google now, then the googlenow.api activates whatever app its tied to
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
So this workaround, does it use the low power core?

The low power cores are only used while the screen is out listening for the hotword. As soon as touchless control detects the hotword, the main cores are fired up anyway, as they are needed for the much more advanced tasks like continuous speech recognition and the subsequent search. So it doesn't matter whether it's Google Now or any other app that is started by touchless control - the low power core is only used to detect the hotword. So in other words: Yes, the low power core is still used since touchless control is still doing the hotword recognition.
OK sounds good then. I just wanted to clarify that. I hated using Utter on the Galaxy S4 with the screen off because it always killed the battery. I'll give this a shot and see how it turns out.

If you have root, you could use the Xposed module GoogleOfflineVoice to force offline voice recognition.

When I use Yelp on my 6T and go to hit the number for any business to call them, it opens up the phone app in place of the yelp app (NOT opening a separate phone app). The phone app actually takes over the Yelp app and if I hit back it doesn't go back to the yelp app, it just minimizes the app.
It gets annoying because every time I call a business through the Yelp app I have to close and reopen the app, do a search again, to continue looking for more businesses.
I've attached a screenshot where it shows the Yelp icon showing that it is the Yelp app but the screen shows the phone app which has taken it over.
Anyone else have this issue?
This is probably because Yelp is not using the (FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK) flag when launching the phone app when you click the number.
This is how they designed the app to function when you click the phone number. It's up to the app developer to decide whether to open the new activity in a separate task or not.
There is an Xposed module that fixed this exact issue system wide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-activityforcenewtask-t2646504) but since there is no Xposed for Android Pie you are out of luck.
I suggest using Yelp in a browser if it bothers you that much.

Ah ok at least it's good to know that how the app is supposed to work and it's not just me. Thank you!
Confirm this issue. Really annoying.

Confirm this issue. Really annoying. Try using split screen so you can see the number to dial without clicking on the number link via Yelp app
