Default Volume / Volume Limiter Headphone Jack - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hey there!
Since I've been on custom ROMs for so bloody long, I haven't had to deal with a rather annoying issue on Android-- that is, the default volume setting when you plug anything into the Headphone Jack. In this case, on an Unlocked Sprint Galaxy S8 (Snapdragon). Whenever I plug anything into the Headphone Jack, it resets my volume to something like 40-50%. Minor annoyance to be sure, but it is getting obnoxious as time wears on.
I tried to search this, but couldn't seem to find anything specifically relevant (Lot of ways to change the default maximum volume smartphones produce, but not too much on this default volume aside from custom ROM features). Is there a way to override or remove this default volume setting on a sock Android ROM?

Bump I guess.. seems like this is kind of dead in the water

Speaker Volume Low

Hi All. Loving my new xperia except for the speaker level, which is far too low for car navigation and not too good for handsfree calls. Can anyone advise on increasing the speake volume please. Thanks.
How to increase the volume of the speaker
I have the same question.
The speaker is not loud enough. I heard that there are two volume settings that can increased separately to add up. It's that true?
This has already been dealt with here:

In other words no.
The small hole where the speaker is is very easily covered up (try playing an mp3 and put your thumb over the hole then removing it) You will see a HUGE drop in volume.
This especially annoying when i'm missing calls because the phone is in my pocket.
My previous phone the K700 allowed sound to 'leak' out...I am wondering whether drilling some holes in the case might improve things

Headphone volume

Is there any way to make the lowest headphone audio setting any quieter?
I am a big fan of in ear headphones, but the problem I always face is that the lowest setting on audio devices is too loud for these types of headphones. I was wondering if there were any tricks to make the lowest sound setting any quieter.
I'm also wondering where the limitation is, either hardware limit, audio driver, or the android API?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
On a side note, it seems like there is just one "Media Volume" setting state regardless of whether the headphones are plugged in or out. This is somewhat annoying as if I was listening to something on the loud speaker at full volume, and then plug in my headphones to listen to some music later without remembering to change the volume my ears would start to bleed
+1. I like how my previous winmo device had system volume AND player volume which stacked. Set both controls to minimum and I could enjoy my music late at night before going to sleep without having those crescendos making me jump out of my bed.... but with Android, I have yet to find something similar.
I noticed this too but when I switched to a different set of in-ear headphones it changed. Maybe buy a different pair of headphones?

What did he just say??

Hi guys. I know I can't be the only one who has noticed the volume levels even with headphones on the Thrive are less than stellar by a very wide margin.
My question: Is this just a software/driver issue that can be addressed or is it hardware related and we're just stuck with what we have? I've messed with all the volume settings and it's still just way too low. Just looking for options here before I box it back up for returning and beg forgiveness from my older netbook that actually does crank the headphones pretty damn well.
Thanks.
Okay this seems to be an old thread and op probably have a new device by now.
What headphone are you using, have you tried lower resistance earbuds and turn off all the aduio effects in the settings menu?
Mine is too loud with my earbud, I wish it could be quieter.

Sound distortion out of nowhere?

My speaker was working just fine the last few days and today, boom, got home and now it sounds like it's fuzzy and distorted. It won't play any songs at all almost, it's quiet and sounds like it's forcing to play. Anyone have the same?
tried restoring my first stock, fixed my wifi issue last time, but no sound fix still. what the hell happened...i opened the back and couldnt see anything. uninstalled volume+, but it wasn't giving issues earlier. Tried a new kernel but it was fine too, and that shouldn't affect sound? And if it did, the restore should have put it back? Not sure, might do a clean install of a custom rom and see what happens.
Your symptoms sound like what would happen if you blew the drivers. I'm not familiar with volume+ but I'm assuming it boosts the volume on your device past what the maximum volume in android? If that's the case it seems like it would be very easy overload the built in speakers on most devices as they are only designed to take a very small amount of power unlike dedicated speakers or headphones. Not sure why anyone would use an app like this(at least for the volume boosting function) as most devices have their volume limited for a reason. Even if the drivers themselves can handle more power, the amplification system in the device might not, which lead to clipping, something that in the long run can be just as damaging to a speaker as giving it too much juice. Exceeding the built in limits is just asking for trouble(Im not saying boosting a device's sound WILL blow the speakers, just that it very easily can).
That being said, if you were overloading the nexus speakers you should have heard a bit of distortion while listening to stuff and eventually they would have failed. If everything was working fine and then they suddenly stopped working, it's probably something else.

Bump
It worked fine at work, then went home and it got distorted. When I tried volume+, it never did anything anyway, so I never enabled it and eventually uninstalled it. Something happen in between, I did try a few kernels, but nothing in the threads said anything about ruining the speaker or sound. I flashed stock and nothing, still the same thing. Might have to RMA already :/

AOSP Roms headphone call volume too loud

Heya, so I always wanted to use AOSP roms on my S7 edge since i bought this device but I always had this 1 little problem that makes me go back to Samsung stock. The call audio being too loud while wearing headphones. Is there anyway I could fix this? I tried changing some things in the mixer_paths.xml but that made no difference in the audio levels (I probably changed the wrong values). Note that I put the volume on the lowest and it is still too loud. I also noticed how some people are complaining that it's NOT too loud which is confusing.
Thanks a lot!
