Smoothest rom for heavy games like injustice 2, modern combat...etc - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

There are too many roms now available for 3s....So I am getting confused for which is the BEST for gaming ?
I tried the most downloaded rr and los roms but somehow rr rom lagged much compared to new carbon rom. (for me... I don't know about others) And los doesn't have the ram bar feature ( Yes I want the ram bar specifically, other features don't matter much.
So if anyone who is expert in rom testing can tell me which one is the smoothest rom of all please it will be a very big help....
I am not saying other roms are bad or anything but please if anyone can tell me it is much appreciated .
Thank you
And i made a thread earlier asking about how the f2fs format increases performance compared to ext4 but no one replied...
Can anyone explain it in simple words as I am not an expert in this area ? (As you can see I am a Junior member)

Hi. I dont think any rom make different in this case. The Snapdragon 430 its a very good "CPU" and you can do almost anything, but it's a low perfil CPU and cant do miracles. Yea, you can play a lot of games and emulators but I dont think that any Rom (Stock or Custom) can do a (notable) different.
You can gain better battery or faster UI etc. with a specific rom, but if a game going slow, will go slow with another Roms.
I used Stock MIUI, stables and Beta. Custom like Arvanasoft (MIUI 8 and MIUI 9)... LineageOS, Xperience and right now I am using ViperOS because is fast and almost perfect, and for games I dont saw different. I must to say, I dont play a lot and I most using emulators like PPSSPP and the result is same.

Then can you tell me which one is the lightest yet stable ( with good camera ) and has a option for ram bar? Thanks. And do you know the difference between f2fs and ext4 ?

Mmmmm No, I dont know the difference between ext4 or f2fs, even I don't know which we are using.
About the Rom, if you want a MIUI rom, I think Arvanasoft with MUI9 is the best. If you want Custom Rom with Nougat, I used LineageOS, Xperience and others, but the best I already used and I am using is ViperOS. Good battery, stable, few customizations and very fast. Any bug till now.

Best STABLE ROM released for Redmi 2?

Hello, I got my cousin's Redmi 2, so I was hoping to put Custom ROMs. I've been searching around, but didn't seem to find the best stable ROM. I need a daily driver, and it doesn't need to be Marshmallow, but an upgrade from KitKat would be nice. I love the Lollipop UI. But still, I give my preference to the most stable ROM, since I don't want juggle around every single custom ROM available.
Thank You!
UPDATE 21/03.
Thank you guys for the poll! MIUI was getting all RAM sucky so I needed to get a Custom ROM. I've tried Nexus Experience, Resurrection Remix, HTC Remix, and Kuma's CyanogenMod 13.
Nexus Experience: It has same user interface you get from Nexus, but it lacks multitasking capabilities. Besides most of the ROMs in stock looks like this, so I wouldn't recommend this. Link to Download, Credits:Nexus Exp. team
HTC Remix: This ROM is bulky in size, I've waited for 3-4 hrs for it to complete the download, and when I installed, the recovery ended with an error. But from the reviews, it said it has some camera bugs with the stock cam but Snapdragon cam is working. It didn't have the HTC Dialer also. If you switched from an HTC and want the HTC UI, you should take this. Link to Download, Credits:(--light--)
Resurrection Remix: This ROM was good, but compared to CM13, this ROM sucked battery more and at the first boot, the status bar had some lag issues, but after one or two reboots, it was working perfect. Besides that, no problem, this is the second best ROM. Link to Download, Credits:nick37332001
Kumajaya's CM13: This is by far the best ROM I've tried. Battery is the best, considerable less lag while multi-tasking, good gaming performance, and the basic MM UI. I didn't find any bugs at all. If you're looking for the best ROM, this is the one. Link to Download Credits:ketut.kumajaya
I've also found that, newbies to ROM flashing tend to think Official ROMs and Builds are better than Unofficial ones. This is a wrong perception. Kuma's build's are unofficial, but it had a much better performance compared to Nexus Experience. What counts is how much work the devs put into this.
Hope this thread becomes helpful to both users as well as developers. Great work, devs. Hope you keep up the good work.
Hello Venkatesh, Im using 2014818 too. Can you tell me which ROM are you using? Also, even after I flashed Custom recovery, I still see stock recovery, but from there Im able to access TWRP. is this expected behavior? Please tell stable roms for Redmi 2 2014818

I am on stock miui brother. First root your device, install flashify and flash twrp from flashify. You are done.

Blisspop ROM
I have flashed Blisspop ROM, run smoothly until now ( more than 2 days)
Kumajaya's Marshmellow as daily driver. Using since last december, never crash-rebooted and rare bugs. Battery could have been better. And camera, obviously you can't beat MIUI's stock camera but it's all right.
cm 13 by kuma is already stable because basic functionality of redmi 2 is now working been using till now
Thanks guys! I've updated my OP, with reviews.
@rohitaar I'm too on cm 13 its smooth stable, but have you tried aosp caf,if yes how's it? I like idea of pure aosp ROM on which I could use xposed if I want any feature. Please review it if you can
I must add the (at least) here, none of the MM ROMs has a working adb, and some of has GPS issues

Do not believe this guy, I've been using ADB for like every ROM to batch install the APKs which I've backed up from the Stock MIUI.
ADB works perfectly. Also, I love Here Maps more than Google Maps, and it has no problems at all. Brother, if you have any issues with your phone, you should check it with the manufacturers, or at least other users, see if they have any issues.

@rohitsonone No.. I had a look at it, but the UI seemed too Ice-Sandwich type! You see the screenshots! Guess I'm happy with CM13! You can use xposed in CM 13, no problems, although I don't want any tweaks.
I dont think kuma's cm13 ROM has best battery. I mean it is not to hurt him, but the marshmallow changes which forces us to enable gps for wifi functionality is the thief. It sucks battery like hell. But cm13 of kuma had awesome camera and it had no lags at all !! Very clean and smooth UI. As the kernel source has been released for redmi 2 we will have wait for some good battery management tweaks. PS: I am using kuma's cm12.1 as my daily driver and it has no problem at all except camera quality and the battery management(better than cm13 but still . . .)
can anyone help me with the audio bug? {audio playing with speaker and headphones.} the roms i used tends to work normally for 10 reboots. but after some reboots the audio bug kicks in. audio playing with speaker and headphones. hope thats the bug with roms. I have used Ressurection Remix both 5.1 and 6.0.

"Official" build does not necessarily mean it's great (even official rom from xiaomi is buggy sometimes). you can always try available builds for you device that suits your requirement.
when it comes to performance, rom with less costumization is often performs well.
when I first joined xda, comparing rom is strictly prohibited to respect the dev. that's why I had to install the rom to find out if it's good for me or not.
:good: cheers

Mokee is official, but unfortunatelly it have some bug like music player don't working. Maybe they will fix the issues because they are working on it and they already have fixed a lot of issue.
We don't have perfectly Official Rom, but we have a lot of nice Unofficial rom. I think the best are Resurrection Remix 5.8.4/5.8.5 and Validus. I tried both of them, these are bug free, it have awesome performance and battery life! Unofficial means that you won't get OTA updates, but i think if you are able to install a Custom ROM then you needn't OTA updates cause you can update from the TWRP .
I'd say go with rr5.8.5 hrafninns build
use vodoo kernel with conservative or impulse governor
also use the a1 camera port
I running Miui 9 (based on Android 6.0), it's very fast, battery is great.
I found Hexagon Nougat normally quite good but not found this rom for Redmi4 Prime yet.
Not sure about all the Nougat roms on this forum, it's always lag with the waiting arrow when open app or youtube etc. Miui8/9 do not have this lag symtom mentioned.
I prefer MIUI since it's fast and stable (less heat when playing games). Mine is running on mi-globe miui9. So far so good

+ performance s4 i9505

I play mobile legends with 20-30 fps... Best rom for performance on gaming, kernel, overclock, f2fs or ext4? Apps for more performance on gaming? (Sorry for my bad english... I'm brazilian) thanks!
Basicly there is no the best rom for something. As far as I know, people had a great expirience with imperium rom and gaming. You can test any ROM, and tweak ones with sTweaks or any similar program coming with kernel. Test yourself, and post expirience, or check other posts, I am sure there are ones answering your question.
this phone nt suitable for moba gaming ,lagging , heating and battery draining like crazy , tried lots of rom ,result are almost the same.
@lawong: For mobile gaming, one of the following is likely to be the best: AOSP, LineageOS, or one of the GPE ROMs. None of these ROMs have the resource overhead of Touchwiz to deal with. What games are you attempting to run?

Well there you go. The JDC Team Android 8.1 ROM is what I use and it's been bug free for me. Try them.

A Way to Game while Maintaining the Normal Apps needed for daily usage

Okay so Ive come up a pretty simple way to get really good gaming performance on the Redmi Note 3, while still being able to use all ur other daily apps like social media and stuff, altho idk if anyone has done this before...
So basically i realized that everyone keeps talking about different ROMs and Kernels, which ive tried a lot of, but my main problem always was when i started to install the daily apps that I need like Facebook, messenger, whatsapp, and so on. And ive not seen any game booster or anything which can actually improve ram performance enough to play games after installing all these dozens of apps that I need. In android they say that "free ram is wasted ram", but for gaming context its definitely not true.
So my simple solution was this: To dualboot two different ROMs : One for daily usage and one for gaming, So after trying a lot of stuff, what I've done is ive used DualBoot Patcher to boot ABC ROM Oreo with stock kernel (or radon or agni, but sometimes they cause bootloops on some builds) as my primary ROM, and then installed NitrogenOS Nougat + Radon kernel in gaming mode as my secondary ROM in the /dual partition or /data partition if u dont have enough space (I usually install picogapps to have more free space in /system).
And then I install all my games to NOS and also use link2sd to link the data to my SD Card.
This works really really well for me because whenever i want to game, i can just switch to this rom and it plays all games extremely smooth. PUBG works on the highest settings without any lag at all. So thats basically what you need to do.
I have mentioned these two roms because they work very well for me, but it is possible to use any other ROM of ur choice too. But, an oreo rom cannot be installed in the secondary partition so only install nougat roms, or marshmallow roms
I'm providing links to the various things mentioned here:
DualBoot Patcher:

NitrogenOS :

For Gapps just use Picogapps or microgapps or anything from Opengapps (whatever u like).
P.S. I'm still a noob at this Android stuff and XDA stuff and ive only tried to share something from my own experience... If there is anything wrong or anything i can improve please let me know :3 Also, all the credits for all the softwares go to their respective developers. This is just a simple guide to help other people who may have faced similar issues like me.
If someone is unable to follow this guide and would like a more in depth and step by step guide to doing this, then please let me know and i will make a post with more details about this
Please hit the 'Thanks' button if this helped you

Nono, not NOS Oreo, I used NOS Nougat. NOS Oreo is good as a daily driver for ur primary ROM (or ABC ROM too). For gaming, use NOS Nougat as the secondary ROM.... Nougat roms work well for gaming,

It definitely is good for daily usage, but if you install a lot of apps then it tends to slow down a bit. So if u want u can use NOS N as a primary rom too, but if you install only gaming apps on the secondary rom, then it will continue to run very fast. My guide was intended for those like me who tend to install dozens of apps ( even a hundred) that will slow down performance for gaming a lot...
Does miui supports dualboot? Miui is a beast in daily usage with its features but terrible gaming performance
Really miss radon kernel...the best kernel for gaming. Radon kernel with headphone jack fix? Is it possible? Just confused. Im only can use agni kernel because audio jack issue
PS: i found a kernel based on radon with customized option (include jack fix issue), its called "padon kernel", but im only found padon for oreo. Any idea where i can found padon kernel for nougat?

Yes MIUI can work if you use it as the primary ROM. Check out the dualboot thread to see how to make it work
Can you tell how you make Dual Patcher work?
The TWRP you are using, how yo install the ROMS and configure Dual Patcher, because i tried several times and i can't make it work

MIUI based custom ROM suggestion

Hi everyone!
After about 1 year on the stock global ROM due to the slow release of MIUI12 I finally decided to install a custom ROM.
I really like the MIUI so I want to stay in it, so i found different ROMs MIUI based like xiaomi.eu, masik and MiGlobe.
Which one would You suggest me?
I need it as a daily driver so the most stable possibile (and certified for example to use gpay) and as long as i like MIUI customization, no AOSP or too empty ones.
Thanks in advance to everyone
Masik is excellent. Latest version is V.14. If you're game to use a custom kernel, try Predator. Stable, good battery life, enough customisation.

And about the kernel, would You suggest me to install it or not? I don't usually play games

i'm using Miui 12 on Masik X v14 right now, switched from PE+, and i have to say that while it's beautiful and has some iOS elements which i've always liked, was kind of disapointing since it has animation stutters and very inconsistant fluidity, sometimes animations are butter smooth and other times they are laggy, i'm downloading the latest release of Xiaomi.eu 12 as i'm writing this, ill try it and maybe reply back if it feels any different.

Tried both Masik X 14 and Xiaomi.eu latest build, TLDR : the only difference i could notice is that Xiaomi.Eu has animations disabled for some reason with no toggle to enable them, they both run slower than AOSP roms such as Pixel Experience but that's to be expected since RN7 miui 12 stable still isn't officially out

Thanks,
I installed Masik and I have to say it's pretty good.
Tried to add a kernel but predator even with the patch still killed my wifi so i'm currently on stock, battery still however fine.
I will wait for a kernel or masik update to come and if they will not improve I'll switch to xiaomi eu.
I'm using RevOS, based on Miui china but debloated and it works perfectly. Unfortunatly, devs seems to stop updating roms next month so i'm looking for another custom miui based rom.
I'm gonna try Masik too i think.
I've found XMorz from Team Phenom which can be good too.
If anyone know others rom ...
