[Q] Bluetooth connectivity in my car - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

The Bluetooth media and phone connection is really flaky in my car.
I have a Jaguar XF (latest model) and I can connect the phone but the connection will drop in and out repeatedly normally within 15 seconds of connecting.
Never had a problem with any other phone in this same car.
Any thoughts on a fix?
Thanks

Mine just keeps during bluetooth off for some reason. I will be driving and get a call and it isn't through speaker, I look at phone and bluetooth is off. I never turn it off.

There has been a few threads about Bluetooth connectivity but the general consensus is to turn off Bluetooth scanning. Many have had success with it but give it a try if you haven't. Personally I haven't had an issue with any bluetooth device (headphones, Controllers, Pioneer headunit) but I turned off scanning anyway.
To turn off Bluetooth Scanning:
Settings > Location > Menu (the three vertical dots in the upper right corner) > Scanning > Turn off the toggle for "bluetooth scanning"
GL!

Mine has worked fine. Use it everyday. I do have Bluetooth scanning off.

is this working for you, i do have oreo beta and bluetooth connectivity is not good at all with my car ( renault megane radiosat)

I have noticed that this seems to happen when wifi connects and disconnects. Aka when I drive out of range of my house the Bluetooth audio skips and stutters for a few seconds and even if I stop at a light and it attempts to connect to the Starbucks wifi on the corner.

Bluetooth issues..

Been looking around for a resolution to my issue and still can't seem to find any.
Here's the deal, I have a Motorola H710 BT mono headset. I just recently upgraded my rom to the latest "Official" 3.56. and prior to the upgrade I was using bad sector's IDtransfer app with the audiogateway app to be able to listen to the incoming ringtones through the headset and I would use the audiogateway app to be able to listen to music through the headset as needed, then shut if off when I didn't.
The problem arose after the update and when trying to install these same two apps. I would get into a rolling reboot after the soft reset and had to hard reset to fix it.
I'm currently using Destination Gotlands BT app and although it seems to let me hear my ringtones and music through I guess an "always on" audio gateway, it comes at the expense of not having voice speed dial as by pressing down on the earpiece buttin is what turns on the app and opens the gateway, where as before it was what turned on voice speed dial.
Another issue is that when I put the phone in "sleep" mode by pushing the power button, the gateway seems to close and the music no longer is heard through the BT headset. It also does this when i'm not even using the BT headset but the phone's speakers. Is this normal? It seems to cut in and out sometimes. I'm pretty sure that it use to play music with the screen turned off prior to the update. Is there a registry tweak or something that will allow this?
So in brief, what i'm looking for is an app/reg tweak that will allow me to
1. Hear my incoming call ringtones through my BT headset automatically.
2. Still use voice speed dial.
3. Listen to music through my BT headset when I want to and be able to shut it off.
4. Not close the audio gateway with my bt headset when I turn off the screen on my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. And again, this is for WM6.1.
Thanks!
bump. Anyone?
Opposite Problem
I just reflashed my phone the other day.
As I was going and reconfiguring everything I noticed that my bluetooth connection was active even when I put my phone to sleep.
I remember changing some settings last time I configured my phone to turn off bluetooth and not allow data connections when the phone was asleep to conserve battery.
I thought I used an application like "AdvancedConfig" or "KaiserTweak" to change the WM6 settings but I am not seeing those settings in those applications this second time around.
I'm running Dutty's Dual Touch for the Kaiser. I'm sure there are settings to set on the WM6 OS registry that can turn on or off the bluetooth sleep functions.
Do any of you know an application that can change the bluetooth / data connections hack or the registry changes that need to be made to accomplish this?
I think I may have found it.
Go to Settings -> Phone -> "Data" Tab. See if you're "Disable data Connections" setting is checked and try unchecking it.
This may affect bluethooth. I have my macbook connected to my phone showing signal strength and batter. When I unchecked that box and put my phone to sleep the connection was lost.
Let me know if that fixed it.

Don't have that "data" option/tab in my phone settings. Only "Services" and "More". And under services there is no data option either.

Bluetoth Toggle with user Settings?

Hi,
it's easy to find a bluetooth toggle button out there to put it on the HD2 homescreen - neverthelees it only turns bluetooth on (or off). Normally I use only one bluetooth connection - my stereo headset. Is there anything I can do that the toggle button not only turns on the bluetooth but uses my headset as standard connection, so automatically connects to it with some settings?
Thanks,
DW!
Nobody?
If you are having an issue with the headset only connecting as handsfree when you turn bluetooth on there is an option in the settings to have stereo headsets connect to both handsfree and headset at the same time ...
It would be in the bluetooth settings under that devices main properties ...
I use one and it connects to both when toggling bluetooth on or off ...
But even without that all you have to do normally is hit a "media" button on the headset , something other than talk/play or volume, and it should connect ...
Hope that confusing mess helps ....

Intermittent Bluetooth/WiFi connection

I've been using the SGS2 for a good few days now and really loving it. However, I've noticed an intermittent problem with the Bluetooth and WiFi.
WiFi problem:
I have connected my phone to my home WiFi but sometimes it does not connect when I get in range or after turning on my WiFi on the phone. If I then go to settings and long hold on my WiFi connection and then select 'Connect to network' it will then obtain an IP address and connect. This is intermittent and doesn't happen all the time. I would say the problem occurs more than 50% of the time.
Bluetooth problem:
I have a Motorola S9-HD bluetooth stereo headphones. I mainly use it when watching videos and listening to audio books. I already have it paired so when I turn it on, it should connect and play all audio through them. When I click the play button, it should fire up Winamp and start playing the last audio file I was playing at the exact location it last played up to. The SGS2 sometimes fails to fully connect. I have to find the device in the Bluetooth list and long hold and then select connect to network. Again, this happens around 50% of the time. Occasionally, even when it has connected, it still does not play audio through headset (but the audio isn't even played through phone). Switching off headset and switching back on normally resolves it.
Both scenarios work pretty much flawlessly on my SGS1. Also, both Bluetooth and WiFi problems seem related as they are so similar.
Anyone else having similar issues or could explain why this might be happening on the SGS2?
Well, BT & WiFi both use frequencies in the 2.4 GHz range, so if you're using both simultaneously, they may be interfering with each other. You might try setting up your WiFi to use a different channel; your router's config pages should allow for that. Or you can use a 802.11a connection if your network supports it; that uses the 5 GHz band, so it won't interfere with BT.

No, not using them at the same time. I use WiFi when I'm at home and only use my Bluetooth headset when I'm out. WiFi is turned off on the phone when I leave home so it shouldn't doesn't interfere. The other thing is that everything works fine when I do the same with my SGS1 so the only change is my SGS2 handset.
If there is WiFi or Bluetooth interference then why does it not exhibit on the SGS1?
I did try rebooting the phone and power cycling the headphones initially but this didn't work. Strangely it all started working after a phone reboot and has been working perfectly since.

[Q] Driving mode issue

Have a TMobile 900T and I can't get the Driving Mode to stop. I turn it off, uncheck the box, even do a force stop and it still comes on when I start to drive. I'd rather CHOOSE it than have it make the call itself. Any ideas?
Go to setting/locations/my places and remove/edit your car/bluetooth connection. For safety Samsung is "forcing" people to have hands free while driving. As soon as you pair you car radio with bluetooth in location settings, then as soon as the phone (bluetooth on) detects your vehicle's bluetooth, it automatically turns car mode on. The alternative is to switch off bluetooth

Thanks for the answer! Which means I can't play my music via bluetooth and the app doesn't play well with Pandora, near as I can see. Great. I appreciate the concern but I don't like being 'forced' to do anything, just as a matter of principal.
Any way to disable this? Any one have a better idea?
A custom rom is at this stage the only answer....and hopefully the rom developer has changed that in the rom

Bluetooth to car stereo, no auto connect

I had the Note 3 and it interfaced very well with my 2013 Subaru Impreza stereo. The Note 4, however, will initially connect but after turning the stereo off, then back on, it will not auto reconnect. The same behavior happens when the car is turned off and on.
I must tap the stereo in the BT app to get it to reconnect and sometimes I have to turn on the phone "visibility" to get the connection to happen.
So, that means no BT phone unless I'm already listening to a BT source.
I think it is related to the newer BT stack and its low power modes.
Anyone else seen this BT behavior?
Yes, I am seeing similar behavior. My Bluetooth tends to disconnect at times, seemingly at random as well.
Also very frustrating is the fact that I can not just enter my car and have the Bluetooth auto connect. I have to open the bluetooth page and select my car from the list of devices manually. This seems primative. If there is a way to change this can someone please post it?
I've started using Tasker and it has saved my bacon. Works like a charm. I've even used it to automate turning on Slacker when I get in the car.... So, a work around...
I have no problem whatsoever while connecting to my Dodge Charger 2014 ..every time i get in the car the Note 4 auto connects... i have the viisbility timeout set to Never..
