trading worser phone for nexus one and 200$ . You are pretty capitalistoc. No one is so stupid to trade best android phone to slow g2
I wanted to solicit a few opinions on this. Let me start out by saying, selling my G2 isn't purely for profit. A friend wants to buy it, and would pay a reasonable price for it. I also want to note that I received the phone in exchange for building and testing a new computer for a friend.
I have the stock card in it, always had a screen protector, and snap on case. Phone is in perfect condition.
The phone is rooted with CM7 and I would wipe and reinstall CM7 or any other GB ROM before selling it.
Is $200 too much to ask for the phone, or is that a low ball? Looking to maintain karma with a good friend, but not cheat myself, either.
Opinions?
Sounds about right for a friend you're trying to give a good deal. The rooting doesn't necessarily add a ton of value to it if its for a friend (or in general, for that matter). And especially if he's not technologically inclined to use root features.
I bought my G2 lightly used w/ a 16gb SD card for $285 on craigslist if that's any indication for you of a price ballpark. I think I got a pretty good deal on it.
Yea that is a good asking price for it and testing and doing something for another friend to get it wasn't a bad deal ether LOL. but its all on you for how much you want for if your giving him a pretty good deal. I got mine at the store for around 160-170 and I already had the 16gb sdcard but look what the other poster said he paid. cuz I do see them going brand new with box and everything for 300 you know good thing always come back to good people you know

rooting really does add value, just like the device being carrier unlocked...ON EBAY. ebay is full of people that think rooting and unlocked is basically the holy grail because they are not smart enough to read here and follow instructions.
if i was selling my G2 to a FRIEND, id ask between 200-250 for it, basically being nice and saying its half of full retail and no contract needed.
on ebay, id ask minimum 325 for it on auction, and would make a second chance offer if reserve didnt make it to 325 for no less than 290.

Yep you nailed it. On eBay/Craigslist, rooting adds a lot of value. For a friend, not so much because hopefully you'd be nice enough to root it for him if it wasn't already . I sold my Evo on Craigslist for a premium cuz it was rooted. And that was a one-click root method phone lol.
So we had the same state of mind when we both sold are EVOs. I sold mine mint with everything and case and was rooted to crazy land with everything you could think of lol. And the guy begged me to sell it to him and I use every cent on half paying off my cancellation fee of 150 and used the rest to get my g2. Rooting and unlocking phone dose up the value. but if your on Craigslist and want the g2 and see that your charging store price just because yours is unlocked and rooted already. of course I'm going to get the one that's less money and do it myself. and not pay store price I got lucky when I saw that true s-off unlocks the phone while rooting that was a win win for me right there. just incase I want to sell my phone I kept everything and its unlocked and rooted

Give another example, I had a blackberry 9650 and storm 2. The bold had os6 leak on it, storm 2 had nothing special. Both phones I had sim unlocked from verizon, cost me nothing.
I paid 100 bucks new for the bold and verizon because of all of their screwups gave it to me for free with no contract.
I sold the storm for 290 and bold for 265. Both were unlocked. Not too bad lol

The giveaway took place in the C++/Game Developer panel, which discussed the use of native code in Android applications (games, in particular, are likely to use the NDK as opposed to standard Dalvik). And aside from winning some karma points from developers, Sony’s motivation for handing out the phones are pretty clear: give developers a phone that features the gamepad, and they’re much more likely to make sure their games work flawlessly with it.

Does anyone know if these are carrier unlocked and able to connect to Fastboot? I'm seeing a few popping up on eBay in the $500-$600 range and I think I'm going to take the plunge.
If they're from Sony then they're most likely unlocked phones. I can't imagine them going "here, have a phone, it only works on -network- though"
Thanks. That's what I was thinking.

However, still kind of bummed devs aren't taking this seriously...

Wow! I got one for a Best Offer of $550. Now I feel like I should have gone lower. Ah well. I was expecting to pay at least that anyway. Better than spending around $700 for one.

Excuse me for my ignorant question but is it correct to assume that even though these Google I/O Xperia Play's are unlocked that it's only for SIM and you would still need to use Gingerbreak to get root access right?
I'm asking because I'm in the process of buying one so I want to know how much I need to tinker with it. I also assume I won't need to debrand it and that it is pretty stock no?

From what i could tell on eBay there were a couple CDMA phones.
As well the GSM ones all appear to be the exact same phone as the Canadian one R800a just unbranded so i'd guess root access would have to be done via gingerbreak, however as mine arrives monday i'll update if this is the case.

Lucky you, i ended up at $540 as my timing sux.
Awesome phone at crazy price. I also got the dock and it looks very good.
I got it on ebay for $450 (item number 120725728032) and add a 10% back in ebay bucks as I bought it before the IE9 + Window 7 8% bonus ebay bucks ended. Very sweet deal at $405 + $7 for almost overnight shipping. I think the seller didn't care for much profit and also he didn't mention R800a prominently to get attention.
It's not much thicker than X10 and is actually a little shorter. The four buttons it has should have been on Arc along with the front camera. Will be using it for a week or two before I pass it on to my son while I go back to my Arc.
I have one of these coming tomorrow (ebay, ~$500 shipped). Is there any difference in software compared to the Verizon model? Is it going to be primarily stock 2.3?
This may sound like a foolish question, but, considering these aren't widely available, does everyone think these will get proper updates from SE?
Has anyone gotten the verizon version of one of these phones? I was thinking about grabbing one on ebay before they disappear to use on my verizon account, but wanted to check ahead of time to see if the bootloader on the developer version would be unlockable. Can anyone confirm this?
Hi guys,
Wanting to sell my S4. What do you think it could go for?
Just the phone on its own. There's only a couple scuffs on it. Unlocked. i9505. UK Prices.
Thanks.
Swappa currently doesn't have any I9505 units for sale. However, the I9500 is available, and was $100USD (£81.95) at last count. The last few I9505 units on Swappa sold for about this price. A far cry from when I spent $349 (£286.11) on one.
About $100 is a good starting point. Though I would keep it as a backup phone or something.

This is the best advice, as the resell value isn't that great these days. After upgrading, I let my roommate use mine. When she upgraded, I got it back. It now sits on my desk as a testbed, and as a backup device.

Thanks for this. You guys know any good phones that are upgrades to the S4. With the same sort of Custom ROM support?
Around the £200GBP range. ($250)
Second hand. With a fingerprint sensor.
Maybe the LG G4. It's fairly new and has a fingerprint sensor. And since the G series is pretty popular, it also has custom ROM support.
The S5 would be another choice. But it isn't such a big upgrade.
Then there's the Nexus 5X. Custom ROM support is always great on nexus devices.
Since Black Friday is coming next month, I'd suggest you wait and see what offers there are. Then you can get a brand new device at a good price.
I recently bought a used one for 130 $ (I9500), working so far except a few cosmetic caveats.

Guess I was mistaken. But the V10 definitely has one.
I just bought a brand new in the box S4 for just under $200. It will be flashed with CM13 to replace my wife's S3.
I think the S5 is actually a pretty nice upgrade, although I hate fingerprint sensors or any kind of biometrics on phones, as there's no guarantee who's hands the biometric data might get into.

Its a shame when people have one just sitting around doing nothing, still a awesome bit of kit, probs better than the mid range phones today, if i see one very cheap i think id get it just to mess with roms/kernals
Hey guys, I'm been considering trading my v30 for the OnePlus 6T from T-Mobile. I do need to buy out my v30 for 180ish before it is officially mine and I can take advantage of the OnePlus trading offer.
What you guys think, is it worth the upgrade or to trade it in?
T-Mobile did not give me the full 300.00 trade in, as I still owned money on the S8+. So depending on how much you have left on your V30 will determine how much of the 300.00 trade-in credit you will get.
I hoped this helped..

Did you have to pay what you owed for the s8plus in cash or did they credit you? Reason I ask is I still have 2 payments before I can jump. I want the 6t now but don't have 60 bucks cash if I have to pay the difference now.

I would call because im in a similar situation and I ordered the 6t yesterday by only paying 66.53 in tax. I'm keeping my lgv30 as a backup also so I had no trade in.

I had a v30 and I still had a balance ($390). I paid it off, traded it in, got $100 credit, and the $300 promotion. I had no JUMP on that phone and it was started to show the random issues LG is known to have.
Went in and played with one today. Turns out I would have to pay my device off first so it makes more sense to just pay the 2 remaining payments and jump. That phone is a beast I cant believe how much noticeably faster it is then the s8 plus. Definitely my next phone in 2 months. I just wish I didn't have to wait!
I have an LG V30 and I was considering jumping to the 6T. But ultimately, after checking out the 6T, I've decided to stay with my V30. I just think it has better features than the 6T. Better screen, camera, AOD, wireless charging. If anyone can think of anything to the contrary, please enlighten me.

Better camera? No, sorry. Screen? That's VERY debatable. Sure resolution is higher, but such a small screen, how could you notice?

Just because it's not certified doesn't mean it's not waterproof.
I don't know. The more I think about it, it seems the 6T would be a step down from my current V30.

I used JUMP on Friday to upgrade LG V30 to 6T... So good that T-Mobile wrote off the $450 I still owed on V30... Love the 6T.... Battery life seems way better, phone seems way more snappy and responsive. I like the screen and camera, and the face unlock is so useful... I'll probably miss the external SD card at some point... Dash charging seems faster than quickcharge 3. I'd say upgrade when you can, and your best bet might be to pay off the $180, then use the $300 bill credit to get the phone at $11 something per month

I compared the cameras in the store, and I even did it with my LG V30 having the modded GCam (from Pixel) app on it, and the 6T STILL looked slightly better and had more detail IMO. So I'm upgrading now! lol
Not sure if it's really worth it if you have a V30 that you still owe on as your trade in. I've got a V20 and V30 but really the only thing that made it worth my while to get the 6T was that I still had a Nexus 6 to trade in. I just don't think the 6T is that much of an upgrade over the V30.
I don't share the sentiment that the 6T has a better camera than the V30. I seem to get the same quality out of both main cameras. I figured if I am concerned about image quality though, I won't be using either phone. I've got a solid standalone camera that no cellphone can touch and it will send files to my phone for immediate dispatch. That said, I have already gotten a pretty decent photo out of the 6T last night but I would have gotten the same out of the V30. I just happened to have the 6T active last night. And I still ended up getting a better shot with the real camera anyway. But I did ask on the camera thread which version I should look at and no one answered. Add into that all the crashes people are reporting on the GCAM, I'll just wait and use my current methods.
I'm still going back and forth with this. So many people are saying the V30 is a way better phone. Yet, others are saying the 6t is the better phone.
